  1. Is 343 ruining Halo: Reach? Sadly the answer is yes. Bloom is good! Why would they remove it? It seperates the noobs from the pros. Only 300 people play the TU Beta. Why? IT SUCKS. Notice how every playlist that gets the title update subsequently loses the majority of it's players. Every update has made the game worse. I hope 343 gets the message and stops ruining Halo: Reach. If any 343 staff is reading this, PLEASE STOP. YOU'VE ALREADY SCREWED UP HALO:REACH ENOUGH. Bungie was SOOOO much better. Please stop. It was amazing and now it's getting worse.
  2. I'm a bit confused on what ONI actually is and I was wondering if someone who really knows a lot about Halo could explain it to me. I understand some things about ONI, but I don't comprehend what ONI's actual purpose is. Thanks in advance for you guys' help.
  3. SPOILER ALERT! This Video reveals info about the beginning and first level of Halo 4. This info is real and straight from the newest Halo novel, Halo: Primordium. Frank O'Conner said in an interview, that the story has already been told through the books, and Halo: Primordium would give some big insight on Halo 4. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gPANfSjrLU4
  4. Dear 343 Industries, Let me just say this real quick. I have a ton of faith that y'all can redeem the Halo multiplayer from what we've all recently seen. Every time I see an interview or read a quote from one of you guys, it gives me even more hope. Just consider the following suggestions from a super hardcore H2 fanatic. Here are some itsy bitsy things that could be implemented in H4 multiplayer (Infinity) that would probably make me buy the game even if the gameplay was as bad as Reach (Not bashing .. just hear me out). For the first couple, I'm going to go ahead and assume that there is going to be a numbered leveling system like H2 had. I ask for two things here. 1) Make the higher levels a big deal. In H3, my Double Team partner went from a 1 to a 48 in less than 6 hours. In H2 that amount of time would only get you to level 30 ish. And 48 was nearly impossible, which isn't a bad thing at all. 2) THIS IS MY ONE MOST REASONABLE SUGGESTION. Bring back the colored ranks with the corners from H2. Seriously, this is the coolest form of simplicity I can imagine. Based on what has been revealed about H4 so far, I'm assuming there is going to be ranks like General and Commander and all that stuff. Just consider a couple things here. 1) Please don't make these such a big deal. Anytime I see my gamertag, that ugly emblem is next to my name. All it shows is how much time I've spent playing the game, which sometimes sparks a good insult related to the number of friends I have or my relationship status. 2) The emblems for Reach were really boring and cartoon-looking. If y'all are going to use the same emblems that are used in H3, Reach, and every war game ever made, at least make them look cool with a faded, scruffed up look. Maybe a cool background or something. I don't know .. honestly, I don't like them at all. Just make them different. Bear with me through this one. I'm sure y'all are well past this point in development, but at least try to keep the multiplayer levels fairly simple. Do a side-by-side comparison of Lockout in H2 vs Blackout in H3. Now look at the bottom level of the BR Tower. Notice how in H2 Lockout, the floor is completely flat everywhere. Now look at H3 Blackout. Do you see that big platform that you land on when you drop down from the floor above? There is no reason that platform should be there. All it does is slow me down when I walk over it. There's little things like this all over H3 and Reach levels, not just on the floor but on walls and in doorways, as well. This kind of stuff not only becomes an annoyance every now and then when strafing, but makes the level look way too busy in regard to aesthetics. I can understand that kind of stuff in the campaign where the theme of the level is really important, but 99% of people that put hundreds of hours into multiplayer don't do it because the levels are pretty. If anyone gets anything from all these words, let it be this. BRING BACK THE AWESOME COLORFUL POINTY-EDGED NUMBERED RANKING SYSTEM!! Like I said before, it's simple and awesome, and no one is going to complain that it's there. At least the numbered ranking system like H2. I'm not proud of it, but 6 years ago my life revolved around my Halo 2 Team Slayer rank. I was a 39 by the way .. Legit fool!! Sincerely, A hardcore H2 fan
  5. I found out a solution. Instead of making everyone else's gaming experience judged on by 1000-2000 people on the forums, why don't you try this. Instead of making the Title update mandatory, why don't you do a test? For a bout a month, make another playlist, that only has no title update. That way there would be a one playlist with title update in every gametype, and one without it. It would include every playlist, but without the title update. Moniter the number of players on each play list. Whichever one gets more players would become the new official title update. Sincerely, A person who represents the majority of the community in the belief that the title update really sucks In case you didn't get my example here's a demonstration. Note: > <--- represents a change in playlist Title update>Anniversary, Coop, Competitive, Community, Crappy TU Beta that is played by 1/1000000 of the community>And so on and so forth No title update>Anniversery, coop, competitive, community, Crappy TU Beta that is ruining Halo and will cause Halo 4 to put you out of business> and so on into the regular categories. OR BETTER YET! Make the title update optional! That way we can prove that no one who matters likes it. The OP has a "Revised" post list in this thread here. He had created another OP rather than update this one or post a revision in here. It was transferred here. Absolute Dog
  6. One of the most amazing things that has me extremely excited for Halo 4 is the Uniqueness of Halo 4 is outstanding diverisity in armor and, it's keeping me on my toes, on what more customization of armor or even the actual soldier that 343i will come up with next. Keep us guessing 343i and keep doing a good job. Feel free to comment on my opinion.
  7. I have found that playing on the Anniversary playlists is so much more fun than the normal playlists. It feels more like Halo 3 and it made Reach feel like I whole new game. Also, the magnum is just amazing. I've been having a lot of fun, and was wondering if anybody else agrees that the game feels better with the tweaked speed and no armor abilities. I now have complete confidence in 343 Industries.
  8. Like for the anniversary, they brought back the CE maps which is good. I just hope they bring back some maps that are not in a map pack, be very nice to have quite a few of them back to play such as valhalla, battle creek, and sidewinder. I think these need to be put into Halo4. If not a map pack then, i really think they should. Those are my favorite maps of all time.
  9. Why i ask is by the looks of it MLG it will slowly be pushed aside and looked at a main stream within the US and not Europe going forward! Here in the Uk & Europe there are many competitive leagues making it big within time that H4 comes out and i was wondering what they plan on doing. One of them being Multiplay which is a HUGE game festival here in the Uk and the other one being EGL ( European Gaming League ) which they due to have a few events this year. Thought Instead of having a MLG playlist they could look at bringing a competitive playlist out run similar to the way they run MLG if not better..... not saying i dont want MLG there at all but seeing there's more competitive sites nowadays and the community speaks out to them if they want changes anyway, which of course is reviewed them implemented if agreed but just thinking of other ways 343 and H4 could do to make it fair on others.... again just an opinion thats all so what do you think? and why....
  10. Halo 2 was the bullet point that changed Halo competitions forever as well as the Community. If anyone remembers truly playing the game, you remember playing FFA for hours, up to 900 and you remember spending hours figuring out the super jumps and how to BXR from a fan playing perspective - it was the most interesting game - it had the best maps - it had THE BEST COMMUNITY from an MLG perspective - best playist - best maps - best button combos - true talent stood out - and much more The Halo 2 community from clans like eXiT WoundZ to KSI we all had a thriving time playing this game, why not make it online again? I guarantee that if 343i really put some time into putting Halo 2 back up and updating the dash for it, people would not only play it again, but people would bring it back to Major League Gaming. BRING BACK Halo 2!! Sign the Petition: Sheldor
  11. Hey guys! I opened this topic for you. Just tell me what is your favourite racetrack on Halo: Reach. You can also post your own racetrack!
  12. Alright, the last time i wrote the other post, I was pissed off due to personal reasons. Here is WHAT i really think we should do. ...Fine. I was really pissed off when I wrote that other one, so why don't we consider this? Armor lock nerf=good 75% bloom=I can adapt, but can you consider this? 50% bloom? Bleedthrough=No, just no. At least not this much. I don't want to be able to pump two shots into my enemy then punch him, and he immediately dies. 3 shot pistol SOUNDS perfect, but we have to remember that in Halo 1, or CE, there were TWO head shot weapons. It was also harder to get kills. Now there are rifles The pistol should be worse than the Dmr/nr, yet better than the AR. No sword block=WTF? It's as simple as kubgd, switch weapons and shoot once. Guaranteed kill. Sword block wasn't even an issue. It's rarely seen. I know it's supposed to be a power weapon, but come on, sword block occurs once every 10 games, and the person who sword blocks usually dies anyways. (Excluding infection) 4 shot headshot weapons.=Fail. The NR is now OP because of it's auto fire. Also, the game goes too fast with the rate of fire being too high and the AR killing super quickly. Active camo was fine just the way it is. If you want to screw around with armor abilities screw around with armor lock. Armor lock=Why don't you make armor lock repel POWER weapons and vehicles, but be susceptible to regular weapons. That way everyone is happy. I think that's it. But please, just at least make the update optional. I hate having to switch playlists. BTB, since the update, is usually down 1,000-2,000 players. Also, try to make it more fun. Also, take away base recoon
  13. When 343 took over halo they said they wouldn't mess with the bungie playlists, so i was expecting a seperate playlist for the beta which happened at first and now half the bungie playlist have been destroyed by tu slayer etc... It's not hard to have a playlist with the original gametypes and rules and have a seperate with the new rules, but you can play either with/without extra maps (puts you into game with other people with same map packs). I enjoy the anniversary maps but i'm fed up of being in gametypes where the pistol is superpowered, I hope 343 read this and use this idea cus it would make it alot better for everyone.
  14. Hi I am a bungie/343 worker named Brayden Marks and i will be up to date to make sure this site is not bad or something. Otherwise i wanted to say hi
  15. After playing the title update for a little while me and my friends have come to the conclusion that reach is no longer halo. A couple of my friends are die hard halo fans nd theyre considering selling there copy because its so broken and i agree with them. Now i realize some you guys like the update because its more like call of duty. Well then you have no business playing halo. Every game has its own unique play style. Through the previous halos they always have kept th e same play style(by they i mean Bungie). Reach had the same feel too but after 343 released the title update its nothing like what halo players have been used to and enjoying before. In my opinion and my friends as well 343 needs to release an update to take away the changes or what would be the best would be to set everything back to the beta. And when i say everything i mean everything game type settings weapons abilities vehicle everything. Do that or at least make a playlist with beta settings because i believe that would bring a lot of halo fans back.
  16. 343 please stop. The title update sucks. No bloom? Seriously? Bleed throught damage? No sword block? WTF? Why? Why would you screw up the perfect game. Though I agree armor lock needs to be nerfed, everything else sucks. Why would 343 screw up a perfect game? Why would you do that? If any 343 staff is reading this, REMOVE THE TITLE UPDATE. Notice how every title updated gametype subsequently loses the majority of it's population. Why? Because it ruins the game. TU Beta has about 300 players because no one wants to play it. Because it sucks. 343 please stop screwing up Halo. You're making it suck. Keep this topic alive. --Bungie was sooooo much better. If you want to prove me wrong remove the title update. The sword is too overpowered w/out sword block. No bloom means noobs can beat pros every time. Hint: Hold the trigger down for a needle rifle. Instant ownage. Camo is awesome and does not need to be shorted. Only noobs use armor lock. 'nuff said. Bleed through? Really? So the sniper is now a one shot for the body? WHy would you ruin Halo 343? WHY? Maybe they'll see this and realize how much of a screw up they are.
  17. The only rule is that it has to continue. No randomly ditching someone else's idea/current happenings in the story. GO!!!
  18. I've been thinking, and we should post ways that we can help improve the site as a whole. Whether that be to be more welcoming to newcomers, not using harsh language, or deciding to be more involved in the forums. Below, post ideas that we can all strive towards to help make the site a better place. Thanks for reading, God bless you. Sincerely, @RANMAN10
  19. To whom it may concern, There has been much talk about implementing a ranking system into the MLG playlist over on the MLG forums. I was wondering if 343 could make this happen. Any sort of ranking system at all would be helpful. I would even settle for the Arena ranking system. The same ranking system as the Arena, but with MLG gametypes and maps. This would benefit everybody who plays Halo because it gives people a reason not to quit, it gives people a reason to play and it lets you play against and play with players of your skill type. This is what made Halo 2 and Halo 3 fun to play for myself and I'm sure numerous other Halo players. I know I'm not the only one who wants to see Reach do well in 2012. Let's see if making a ranking system in the MLG playlist can give Reach what it needs to survive 2012. Thanks.
  20. Hey 343, can you reintroduce Bungie Pro or something similar so that we can have more file share slots. You should make it about about 800 MS Points
  21. My Gamertag is RANMAN10. The following is a list of my ideas for Halo 4 forge. In the following list, the things listed are not meant to be thought of as an all in one package, but each as individual suggestions. I realize some of the following items listed may currently be unrealistic or impractical, although I believe they are things that would advance customablity, and also make a drastic change to the gameplay of Halo 4. I do have to say that the things listed would widely open the players to a wider spectrum of creativity, due to the amount of options players would never before thought possible. Objects Options The following is describing options available for any or all objects and maps. Object Solid/Permeable options (For just objects, just players, or both) Object gravity/weight options Entire object color/textures/weather options Object size/proportion options Specific object spawn/vanish time options Object penetration options (How far you can shoot through an object) Object break options (Crack, break, crumble) – this option could be accompanied by damage options which would be how fast these affects take place An object limit number display (right beside budget amount) Bigger object count Object group selection Longer object spawn times (current maximum is three minutes) Functioning options not only for all players, but players apart of specific teams (On/off) ((Example: A vehicle with functioning off would serve for aesthetic reasons)) A “show all” option in item options, which would display a waypoint above every item of that type. An undo/duplicate option. For example, for the undo option, executing an action like placing or deleting a block or item, and being able to undo it. An object limit instead of a budget count. Downloadable object packs Most objects being available on all or most maps Individual Objects Crashed vehicles (Including Pelicans, Phantoms, Elephants) Windows with breakable glass with color, strength, tint, and “one way” damage and view options. Mirrors. (I realize this would take up more angle render usage) Placeable Invisible barriers like in the Halo 3 campaign that have no specific touch, but a strength of resistance Placeable death barriers. Placeable cameras with perspectives that would be viewed through a control panel or display that is accessed by pressing an action button (The RB, B, or X button) or viewed by approaching and viewing the screen. Doors with both/one way options. Automatically opening/functioning doors. Team and or individual life number per round or game. Numbered custom power up options (like teleporter channels but when traits are set to a number, any custom power ups set with that number will take those traits) Longer custom power up duration times (like 5, 10, 15 minutes, etc, or the entire game) Civilian vehicles (Like in ODST) A huge, flat object that could be used for ground, walls, or ceilings of an entire map. Stalagmites and stalactites for caves. A system where you can use more of an object than what you are allowed, but when you do it takes down how many you can use of another similar budgeted/sized object. Example, in Sandbox on Halo3, forgers are limited to 40 double walls. If a player chooses to use a 41st double wall, then another box would appear for a “substitute” item. The player would then choose what object they would no longer be able to use, ( “‘Sub’ block”) such as a double block, leaving a player with 41 double walls placed on the map, but now only 39 double blocks or single walls left available for placement. Missile pods that are in a fixed position Turrets that aren’t detachable Vines, ropes, wires, nets, flood tentacles, etc.(Would have an assigned point(s) or “focal point” that would be attached to the object where it is placed.) Flood “spores” from the Halo 3 campaign (wouldn’t necessarily have flood inside) Working elevators (Smaller, normal sized ones for players, and a larger ones for vehicles) The hovering sniper towers you find often in the Halo 3 campaign, that typically have Jackal Snipers in them General city or civilian object like bridge guard rails, traffic lights, etc. Spinning fan wall pieces Anti-Air cannons from the campaign Planes of different materials, textures (Would also include water) Incredibly large natural pieces, much like the rocks on Halo: Reach, but much bigger, being hills, natural material inclines, cliffs, etc. Pieces for indenting the altitude on a map to hold a river, or to serve as an island Boats that could be controllable (But as recently mentioned, functionality could be turned off for certain players) Equipment from Halo 3. I believe most players would definitely enjoy the return of things like bubble shields, trip mines, and portable gravity lifts. Working vehicle doors much like the one on High Ground on Halo. A power option on Man Cannons that would dictate how far it would send you (To make this easier, there could be an icon that would appear that would show where the player would land)((This would also save item space)) Draw bridges that can be activated by a button, or be set to be raised or lowered ever certain amount of seconds. Game Options An option that would decipher when the only time, or the only time that things like power ups, vehicle, lights, or even weapons can or cannot be activated. Drop ship options, including on/off Covenant, flood, Spartan, etc., AI with difficulty, and on/off certain team options Weather options Map locks so other players than the original map maker can’t edit the map it is assigned to Once again, the listed items are ideas that are still being refined, thought of, and being thought of how it would work with the current fundamentals of Halo: Reach, and how it would play out in what I imagine might be available in Halo 4. (I know some of these things may not be available) Thanks for reading, Ransey J. Age 15, Tennessee -Xbox Live Gamertag: RANMAN10
  22. ive recently been playing the anniversary map pack for reach. ive experienced each map. some of them were, of course, better than others. the new anniversary slayer brings back bleedthrough, the CE pistol as well as other modifiers. i rate the map pack at 8/10. although most of the maps are great fun to play, a few of them dont really work with reach. below, im going to list my favourite maps in order from least favourite to most favourite breakneck hang em high solitary timberland battle canyon penance breakneck is too big a map for my liking and the vehicles make it a bit one sided(if one team gets the gauss hog, theyve pretty much won). hang em high is too open, if you respawn in the middle area, your pretty much dead. people just cross map. solitary is ok, but it feels too much like sword base. the multiple levels make it slightly confusing timberland is quite big, however, since there are numerous vehicles and outposts, there is plenty to do on this map. battle canyon is a bit too small, especially with a sniper rifle on the map. however, it is still great fun due to the enclosed spaces as well as the wide open spaces. the teleporters offer strategic routes if your playing capture the flag. penance is medium sized, with lots of enclosed spaces as well as wide open spaces. the weapons and their placements are perfect for the size of the map. the layout offers strategic options for objective games, due to its multiple levels. and, whilst there are closed in paces, nobody really camps on this map. below, im including a link to my first ever game on penance http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wbndHtK_DoU
  23. Okay now I am not the best with seeing the whole picture nor do I have keen sense of detail. I may be a bit of a Halo radical and I see that now. I didn't hate Reach and still don't, but I don't think it was the best Halo either. I honestly believe that many of the reasons the "core fan base" say they hate Reach for are actually in hindsight only coincidental affected aspects that are made to branch off from the real issues. And I believe one of those is that Reach wasn't really part of the epic and familiar trilogy we know and love. Reach on its own honestly didn't impress me much as a story I admit. Maybe it was a little sketchy because Bungie was kind of taking a leap of faith even though I am one of the many that promoted this. I still thought Reach had a great campaign the first time I played through, but it just lacked diversity or at least a feel of different scenarios. I think the main issue is that in truth Reach is like a entirely new IP in spirit and it failed to capture us like CE. It was like trying to breed a new and nostalgic feel in a evolved body, but that role is already cemented in CE. It is a prequel and was intended to stand alone from the other games. It didn't inherent the legacy and energy from the other games naturally. It truly had to be built from the ground up in that sense and this is what we missed. Maybe it would have been 5xs more impressive if it was Halo 4 and we were still with chief. If we were going with some passed on energy from previous games, but it wasn't. It was a stand alone title and relative to the cohesive glory of the other games it just didn't match up. And it didn't grab us like CE did when it kicked off the trilogy. But now I'm not going to try to rant about campaign or even about other aspects of Halo because like I said before I am not the best with details and seeing the whole picture. I don't hate Reach so I'm not going to rant anyway. I want to say hi and I hope to post some idea and discussion threads later on and get along with this community, and just observe the creative bomb rush of activity on these forums.
