Halo Did you knows

The Director

Recommended Posts

Did you know that Guilty spark's consciousness is actually made up of several Human "spirits". They are Chakas, a young Human sub-species that helped the Didact and Bornstellar, and an Ancient Human called Lord of Admirals who was a major rival to the Didact. Both were turned into an Ancilla thanks to a machine called the Composer.

Another: Did you know that the Forerunner's A.I. were called Ancilla's? And many of them bore a strong resemblance to Cortana, or maybe Cortana resembles them.

Actually Chakas is his own monitor, Guilty Spark is just a fragment of him. All 7 of the halo monitors were fragments of Chakas because in primordium Chakas says " I see on of me has already caused you trouble".

Did you know prehistoric humans had better tech than the forerunner, and found the cure for the flood?

Before their de-volvement.

Did you know Humans CREATED the flood?

Also they werent Prehistoric Humans, because thats recent history, they were Ancient Humans

DYK With the Club Errera Egg, If you only activated the first switch near the hospital and overload the jammer, you get Brutes and Grunts gunning you, activating the second one on the roof and overloading the jammer, you only get Brutes shooting at you and the Grunts keep on dancing

'Fraid not. ONI was merely in possession of a fragment of Guilty spark. Not a whole Monitor. This fragment is just as much Guilty spark as the one that got destroyed in Halo 3. And thus had all the same memories. Inside this fragment was Chakas and Lord of Admirals, and if I remember correctly, multiple other Ancient Human "spirits". Chakas eventually fell into Rampancy and forgot who he really was. The quote was referring to how Chakas' monitor personality, Guilty spark, caused problems for Master Chief and just about anyone he came into contact with. Guilty spark can be considered the Rampant version of Chakas.

Also Chakas is not all seven Monitors. It was never stated to be that way. Chakas was shown to only be in Guilty spark, as proven by ONI's interview with him. Thanks to only being a fragment, Chakas was able to surface and tell the tale of what happened all those years ago, but Rampancy soon took hold again and he began to pursue the Librarian's location by hijacking the ONI ship he was being held on.

Did you know Humans CREATED the flood?

Actually, the humans did not create the flood. The simply accidentally incubated it. The original flood parasites were found on a derelict spacecraft, and was not able to be identified. It is common belief that the Precursors initiated this "first contact" with the flood, although the reason is not quite clear.

Also, another misconception is that the Ancient Humans found a cure for the flood. This was revealed not to have been the case by "The Timeless One", who stated that it simply was not the Human's time to be tested.

The flood was created by the Precursors as a "test" to the other species that they created. The Precursors are confirmed to have created the San 'Shyuum, Forerunners, and Humans.

The Precursors are thought to be the oldest known sentient life form in the Haloverse. They created both the Forerunners and the Humans in the hopes that one day they would surpass them and take up the "Mantle", or guardianship of the universe (conjecture). The Forerunners were deemed to be unworthy of this after they turned on the Precursors and drove them from the known galaxy. "The Timeless One" (aka the Precursor Gravemind) confirmed that the Precursors (formerly thought extinct by the Forerunners) are still around, outside of the known galaxy.

This should have been suspected by the Forerunners, considering that Precursor technology is so advanced that even they didn't know much about how it worked. Their technology is directly influenced by what they were able to glean from Precursor technology, which implies that they are technologically adaptive rather than innovative, much like The Covenant.

/educative rant about the Forerunners and the flood.

Did you know that The Covenant have been known to employ three different types of AA guns? One fires plasma "flak", another fires homing plasma shots, and another fires a massive "Needler" round which explodes into a bunch of smaller crystals on contact (much like the projectiles fired from the Needler Rifle). While the first two have been seen in video games (Halo 3 for the "flak cannon" and Halo Reach for the "Homing Cannon"), this third type of Anti-Aircraft weapon was first mentioned in Halo: First Strike. It has not yet seen use in a video game.

The first one mentioned (Flak Cannon) seems to be more useful against smaller aircraft (e.g. Banshees, Pelicans, Falcons, etc.) The second one mentioned (Homing Cannon) seems to be more useful against larger ships (Cruisers and Destroyers, covenant and human). The third one mentioned seems specifically for non-shielded aircraft and seems to be far more effective against human aircraft. The shattered crystals keep exploding into smaller pieces, and can puncture the armor plating of a human aircraft as well as clog and destroy their intake valves.

Actually the Needle AA was used in Halo Wars, but not in the Main Trilogy.

Did you know that the next-in-line to be the head of ONI is a former spartan II?

I actually just finished playing through Halo Wars, and didn't see it. Are you absolutely sure?

And yes, Captain (soon to be Rear Admiral) Osman :D And she was a flushout of the S-II program, because her augmentations didn't take.

It's never been confirmed that the monitor they have is guilty spark, they basically name it that to gain more funds and attention.chakas was his own monitor and that's the one they findin primordium . And Chakas isn't all seven monitors' they are all pieces of him, and the monitor ONI found had similarities to Soark because spark was a part of this original ancilla. There is no way the monitor in ONI finds is Spark because we saw 343 blow up, and if Chakas was converted into a monitor with all his memories, how couldhe be a fragment of 343?

Monitors make back-ups of themselves in the event that their casing is corrupted or destroyed, so that they can continue monitoring their installations. That's how they got the fragment of 343 GS. They weren't particularly clear on where they got it from though, but it did identify itself as 343 Guilty Spark.

Yeah, it was an upgrade for the Covenant Base Defense Turret.

Hmmm.. Here is a direct quote from the book:

SHIP’S AI: All ship functions are now under control of 343 Guilty Spark. Root and System AI signing off.

STRATEGY TEAM LEADER: “Damn thing hacked the entire ship! We are so screwed.”

ONI COMMANDER: “Four or five minutes of oxygen . . .”

GUILTY SPARK: “You will not die. You will sleep for a time. I have need of all of you.”

Pretty sure that confirms that the fragment ONI had was in fact a fragment of Guilty spark. They most likely got this fragment before the assault on the Lesser Ark in Halo 3. Also ONI does it's best to stay away from trying to bring attention to themselves, so naming a monitor Guilty spark to get funds and attention doesn't make sense. And Chakas is ONLY in Guilty spark. The Didact(Bornstellar version) brought him to the Composer to save his life. Didact also put multiple other Humans into the group consciousness that would become Guilty spark. Assumingly, the Didact then took the remaining Humans on the ring and turned them into the other six Monitors.

The ONI team designated the monitor as spark so they could gain more attention and funding from their superiors in ONI, so the ships A.I. called it that. And you just said that the Didact put a group conscious into chakas's monitor, but then he could've token the other humans and put them into the same monitor which they would fragment into 7 different ancillas

Please tell me the page number where they supposedly prove that this fragment is not Guilty spark. The ONI operatives that talked with the fragment have no reason to lie about it being Guily spark. They have nothing to gain from that. Mainly because ONI would jump at the chance to talk to ANY Forerunner Construct. They wouldn't care if it was Guilty spark or Penitent Tangent. Thus no reason to lie about the identity of the Construct. Chakas is Guilty spark and Guilty spark is Chakas. The other Monitors were made completely separate from Guilty spark. My guess is that Riser is one of them and Vinnevra as well.

Tell me where they proved he was guilty sark. And I'm not saying they lied. They suspected it was spark and designated Chakas as that and they saw benefits in that, so if anything they were very truthful by saying that tephey believe ts spark. Guilty Spark is Chakas, but Chakas is not Guilty Spark.

Did you know that on July 7 2011, Bunge gave the flaming blue helmet effect to every Halo Reach player

Here is the first paragraph from Primordium, in the prologue.

HALO/SHIELD ALLIANCE 631

Record of communications with Autonomous Mechanical Intelligence (Forerunner Monitor).

SCIENCE TEAM ANALYSIS: Appears to be severely damaged duplicate (?) of device previously reported lost/destroyed (File Ref. Dekagram-721-64-91.)

Machine language records attached as holographic files. Incomplete and failed translation attempts deleted for brevity.

TRANSLATION STYLE: LOCALIZED. Some words and phrases remain obscure.

First successful AI translation: RESPONSE STREAM #1351 [DATE REDACTED] 1621 hours (Repeated every 64 seconds.)

For those of you who have trouble understanding what this means, they found a duplication (a damaged one) of a device (e.g. 343GS' casing) that was reported as lost/destroyed. Also, please note that nowhere in Primordium did the science team discuss their funding increasing if they claimed the device was 343 Guilty Spark. However, there is an interesting little tidbit here:

END STREAM

TENTATIVE CONFIRMATION: PARTIAL MEMORY STORE of Forerunner AI “Monitor” 343 GUILTY SPARK

DEVICE STATUS INACTIVE—NONRECOVERABLE.

DEVICE ORDERED JETTISONED BY ONI COMMANDER.

REQUEST FOR STANDARD BURIAL CEREMONY DENIED BY SAME.

END DATA LOG.

This is the first mention of 343 Guilty Spark in the book. It is in chapter forty-two. This happens just before 343 Guilty Spark's duplication takes control of the Human vessel.

As you can see from the following paragraph taken from the very same chapter, the AI duplication's voice was ID confirmed as 343 Guilty Spark.

TECH CHIEF: “Listen to what just came through bridge comm! The skipper’s talking to something in the AI root system.

STRATEGY TEAM LEADER: “Something that’s not the ship’s AI?”

TECH CHIEF: “Just listen!”

(playback)

(Voice ID’d as 343 Guilty Spark): “Your ship’s AI is defective.”

CAPTAIN: “In what way?”

(Voice): “Compound Information Corruption. Ship will experience complete systems collapse and drive implosion within five minutes. But there is a cure for that ailment.”

CAPTAIN: “What kind of cure?”

(Voice): “Much worse than the disease, you might think. I shall have to replace all original AI functions with my own. I’ve long wanted a chance to resume my quest. Your ship is an excellent vehicle for that purpose. Apologies, Captain.”

(end playback)

ONI COMMANDER: “We invited that thing right into our living room, plumped up the cushions, brought it a pipe and slippers! We should have known better! We should have—”

SHIP’S AI: All ship functions are now under control of 343 Guilty Spark. Root and System AI signing off.

All "Smart" Forerunner Monitors use different voices, for identification purposes as well as the feeling of being "different" from the other Monitors. This phenomena can be witnessed in the Halo CEA terminals. If you do not feel like watching the entire video, the terminal you are looking for is at appx 3:40.

As you can see, there is no evidence to support Sierra1117's claim that the science team claimed that it was 343 GS to enhance their funding. However, there is evidence to support 01-171 Abased Eidolon's claim that it was 343 GS. The voice-print analysis ID confirmation is what confirms that it is indeed 343 Guilty Spark.

Sorry Sierra1117 :3

Anyways, did you know that Cortana discovered that The Covenant were heading for Earth on September 23, 2552?

Did you know that Spartans can't be infected by flood...

Actually spartans can be infected, the Master Chief was almost infected at one point. It is just difficult to infect them due to there suits systems, otherwise there just normal humans with genetic enhancements

  • 2 weeks later...

Will was the second spartan after master chief to take on a hunter in unarmed combat and succeed (before he was killed by another hunter).

I remember reading that, how all the Elite's stood there amazed at how a Human was taking on a Hunter. Ah man the books are just simply perfect.
