  1. Currently theres no 1v1 map in Halo 4. Haven is small enough, but it really just can't be used for 1v1s for a couple of reasons. I suggest in the next map pack they include a 1v1 map. A guardian remake would definately be there best option I think. With normal power ups/weapons it's a great map, but MLG Guardian map is the best 1v1 map in the history. The invis, snipe, and mauler are all placed evenly to the millisecond. Not to mention, a totally even map on both spawning sides dispite it being unsemetricle. That's why everyone lives guardian so much and that is why I really think the need to add guardian in a map pack. All of the halo 3 fans will definately buy it just for guardian.
  2. Guys, I've been lacking creativity lately. Can someone give me ideas for Forge maps to build? I'm kind of lost on what to build.
  3. Halo Reach's Forge World was big, and could accommodate giant race maps, BTB and just be fun to explore and walk in. Sure, structures were gray, but so many options were available. The large space allowed for so much to be built. Anyone who says "well, you didnt use all of it, so why do we need it?" We didnt use it all, correct, BUT we were given more options on where to build, bigger things to build and simply as much room as we needed. Halo 4 has stripped our ability to build large structures and the like. What we need: 1.A Large map, as almost as big, as big or bigger than Forge world. 2.This map would be semi-hilly, with larger pieces of flat land. 3. Off to the side we would like some mountains, a lake, something interesting to look at, BUT also to climb up. 4. Get rid of the kill boundaries or at least let us go farther out. 5. If the map is big enough, why not include a pelican or a mammoth? Its possible, who cares if it isnt "practical" for matchmaking or competitive, leave the Forge decisions to the Forgers. We as a community dont want much. Flat land and some small hills thrown in, completely possible. Please 343 Industries, take this into consideration.
  4. hey guys, i need testers to join me in my finished gameplay of Big Team Infinity Slayer V1 in repurposed/tweaked map of Ragnarok variant called Ragnarok V1. if you got time to try it out, send me a forum post or use shoutbox to let me know, even send a message to my GT. hope to see you soon on the H4! Information: unlimited jetpack, unlimited ammo score limit: 4000 more Scorpions, Warthogs, Mantises Summary: This gouge was once home of most biggest famous battles in UNSC History. it was battle of Spartans vs Spartans in UNSC Rebellion War.
  5. Hello! I like to make map, but I never quite have enough players to play them. So... anyone intrested to kick some in custom games? Oh! And my gamertag is J00N4 (Os are zeros).
  6. I would like to start by saying good job THFE . I love what you guys do and how creative you are and you make the game more fun. Halo could really benefit by including more user maps in matchmaking, but custom games will have to do I guess. I have a few suggestions you may find interesting in your map making designs. This is entirely my opinion so you can take it or leave it or just maybe take a few ideas if they work. That being said, I have learned recently, from school of all places, about 4 different characteristics that make an environment preferable. I feel like if you incorporate some of these they could benefit you. These characteristics are Coherence, Legibility, Complexity, and Mystery. Now, these are categorized into present (what someone sees just by looking at the map: coherence, complexity) and future (what someone learns as they move through the map: legibility, mystery). Coherence -Can be thought of as understanding the here and now -how easy it is to organize/structure the environment -Has redundancy, and identifiable elements -Has limited number of units/chunks (for example: regions, zones, borders) -It has an immediate "wayfinding" assessment (i would like to say that you guys do a superb job of this on almost all of your maps, as soon as someone looks at it they instantly know what to do; and for competitive maps this may apply for controlling lines of site as 'ok this is clearly a sniper alley or br/dmr zone, and this is useful for close-quarters weapons') Legibility -(The future sense of Coherence) -It is the understanding in the future -It has features you can explore without geting lost -It has openness, distinctive elements, landmarks for wayfinding (these apply more for how easy it is to move through the map, they can wander around and get back) -Has a sense of what you see now is typical of what's to come (I feel like this is most useful for players who first see a map, after all once you've played a map so much you can start to tell where everything is, this may speed up the learning curve however) Complexity -Exploration in the here and now -Environment that has enough to keep one occupied -Has enough to make it worth exploring -number of elements and diversity of things in scene (this may be accomplished with different asthetic features, heres to looking at you Oakley) -content of things in scene; manmad vs. natural (i feel this is slightly possible with forge) (this may seem to conflict with coherence which suggest its limiting the number of things that makes it better but its NOT, a place can be both high in coherence and high in complexity; also this is in the present as someone initially looks at the place does it enough elements to be complex enough to be worth "exploring" and at the same time be distinct enough to have coherence; also this is not be thought of as making as many features as possible as that would just be clutter but having distinguishable features easily recognized) Mystery (i feel like this is the most important as part of the fun of playing Halo or even custom maps is the sense of exploration and developing new "cognitive maps" and the sense of accomplishment one gets from finding their way around, it also ties in with complexity in that the maps you show seem to have new features around every corner, the maps dont always look the same) -Best thought of as Exploration in the future -a promise of more information (in my class this was discussed by paintings that had roads or rivers that run out of sight or behind an object, and by objects that are partially obscured such as by mountains or trees. I feel like this was done well in halo reach by having glass windows that provided a view but was an entirely enclosed map or maps that had "cruisers" that were off in the distance but not part of the map) -Being able to gain more information -Partial info of what may lie ahead I would like to say you already do a good job of these things, and there is the chance that this does not help you or you can't do these things or ignore all of what I said. Hopefully, I have helped give you some ideas, at least one amongst all the info, perhaps things to keep in mind when you are making/developing new maps. Also, these things were intended as characteristics people prefer settings in the real world (mainly nature) but I feel that they can apply equally as well to the virtual world. Another point I would like to distinguish is Mystery vs Surprise. They both deal with the uncertainty, but mystery has more continuity as one continues on through the stream of info they are getting. Surprise deals more with things that are unexpected or sudden (for example: the crate of death booby trap, or having a map where turning one corner suddenly leads to an ubrupt dead end) Hopefully I have imparted some knowledge for you to incorporate from these characteristics for people who are first learning your guys maps... and if you really understand what I said it would be possible to make maps that are the opposite of what I said to completely mess with people and be deliberately confusing like having maps that seem random or a maze that is just too unintelligible to navigate. Keep up the great work!
  7. Hey, guys. iBot here again with a new Forge map contest. First of all, I made this contest for all of the dedicated Forgers in Halo, because there are not enough people who have been awakened to the awesomeness of Forge. Okay, the rules are: 1. It must be on Halo: Reach or Halo 4. 2. It must be a challenge map. Like ex. Indiana Jones, Ninja Test, etc. 3. It doesn't need it's own gametype. Just use Slayer, Oddball, etc. 4. It must be called, "Halo Forge Map Contest" 5. Send me a friend request saying who you are and what your map is like. 6. Must be UNDER 18 to enter. 7. In the comments, tell me your Gamertag and your age, nothing more personal than that, please. 8. Entries must be submitted to me by 12/15/2012. 9. MUST SPEAK CLEAR ENGLISH. Sorry, everyone else. 10. No Profanity, Please. I hope you enter, and I look forward to seeing all of you guys' creations. Til then, take care, and stay Forgin! -343iBot- P.S. - My gamertag is FloridaHero445.

  10. Can some of you guys give me your feedback on my very first map I've made in Halo 4? It is meant to be played in flood mode (TFS Flood) Here is a video showing it off - http://youtu.be/wvgGpuRzzQM The gametype and the map is in my fileshare, in the game.
  11. Someone who is a little more capable in forge should try and make a lava pit map like the ones on halo 3 and reach. That space map would be a good place for it. I tried and got frustrated so I quit lo
  12. I'm pretty sure that despite the game not being out quite yet, there's still many who're wishing for different kinds of forge maps, or have since the dawn of forge dreamed of a pretty rad and awesome one. So, lets hear it. What's your fantasy forge map?

  16. Hey everyone, so I posted this just to see your opinions on the maps we've seen so far. As far as we know there is one more War Games map that comes with the game, and it has yet to be released. However I wanted to do this poll and discussion thread anyway, seeing as I'd love to know you guys' opinions on the maps c: You can vote for any of the ten above maps, including '???' but if you pick that for fun I suggest you post your real answer below xD It is possible to vote for every map since it's multiple choice, but I only suggest doing that if you love every map equally, which is possible but I highly doubt a majority of you will feel this way.
  17. Another Map Released for our Video Game Pleasure: Complex The Halo Council has released a video of Screenshots for the newest Halo 4 Map called Complex. This map looks visually stunning, and looks to stay away from the grey scale of Halo Reach. Multileveled structures and heavily fortified bases. This one looks to please the Dominion game type again. All of the maps thus far have been large and that is to accommodate the new sprint feature that every character has. Anyways here is the video. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hVbmFo7sB5g&feature=g-all-u Video By u4iX of The Halo Council I hope you enjoyed and hopefully we will soon get some game play footage. Tell me what you think of this newly released map. View full article

  20. GT-ShadowFalcon777 Map-Generator Creator-ShadowFalcon777 Gametype-Race Recommended players- 1-8 (however it is compatible with 16) Gameplay- Use mongooses and nothing else otherwise the 720 wont work. This a rollercoaster styled map in the pardisal area. Starting gates a little funky, but its has a 90.0% consistant 720 and a pipeline area thats a favorite to all. In my opinion has great asthetics and is really smooth. hope you guys like the map and check it out. Download link- http://halo.xbox.com...etails=29830224 BTW in the video, The map placed 3rd so you may want to skip to there.
