  1. hey people i finally remembered my other idea i forgot before which i had stated in my last thread, so this idea isnt much, all it is is a new grenade idea. this grenade would be called the thrust grenade. it doesn't do much and it doesn't really kill people its more used for protecting your self. Basically it is a ball you throw and when it detonates its this burst of air in every direction. its uses are to push back grenades, push enemies back but it doesn't hurt them and it doesn't hurt you either and say if a vehicle is ramming you if they are not at full speed or jetting to ram you then it flips them depending on its weight or it just pushes them back a few feet it slows vehicles down if they are at full speed but a vehicle can still kill. so i hope my idea and if you want you can think of ideas to make it better or buff it or whatever
  2. hey people i was just thinking of a new skull idea because i love using some of the skulls in campaign and firefight and spops (spartan ops). my idea is a very bad idea and could POSSIBLY help you OR effect you.the main point to it is just for fun so if you guys dont like it you guys can shoot me down because honestly i dont really like this idea. all this idea is, is when you activate the skull and start a story mode you have lite gravity, its just like it was in reach when you first go in the ship on the level "long night of solace" basically zero gravity. so you guys see what i mean it could help you or effect you it depends, and all it is really for is just for more fun in the story. so comment on what you think and like if you think it is good
  3. hello people how are you all today so i had a few ideas but one of them i forgot so i just have one AA idea. i will try to remember the other idea and when i do ill post it (if i remember it) ok so i dont know what to call my idea so it would be nice for you guys to help naming it but my idea is a slowmotion idea, let me explain: it is this AA thing that looks like a chip you out in your head and when you use it it looks like you are now in slow motion and everybody else, when really to other people you are still in normal speed. when you use this one it will look like you are moving fast again when it ends and it is timed for about 30 to 40 seconds which is about all you need when you are in combat with someone or you are in a big firefight. this slow motion armor ability can help in mulitple ways. say a person is throwing a grenade or shooting a grenade through a sticky detonator OR a grenade launcher, if you use the slow motion armor ability you can dodge the object because it would give you time to think about how you would avoid the object. this can help dodge bullets, or vehicles trying to run you over or people trying to kill you with a gravity hammer or energy sword, and that takes me to my next part of the topic. the only problem i can think of right now with this is that it will be almost impossable to kill somebody with an energy sword or gravity hammer because they would be charging and it would give the person enough time to stop it, so id love it if you guys gave ideas to help even this out or make a better idea, thanks -haloman 2
  4. In Halo 4, the player cards are pretty cool. With the campion DLC adding in a ton more stances, it got me thinking. What if in Halo 5, using the same player card mechanic, a player could customize their stance using Kinect? That would allow for much more personal player cards and people wouldn't complain about not liking the available ones. Maybe put a few default stances in there and have the custom unlocked after a certain level. But what if it gets inappropriate? What's the worst that someone could do? Flip the bird? That brings me to my second part. After (or before) setting the pose for the Spartan, a player could edit the hands. The thumb and index finger could be able to move freely, while the remaining fingers could be locked together. That way a player could point, thumbs up, make a fist, high five, and more. Plus no middle finger. But what if you want your Spartan to have a gun? They should be unlocked by commendations. Hold your gun proud because you worked for it! If you snipe, you'll get a sniper. Play Grifball, get a hammer. Or, if you master Capture the Flag, maybe you could get a flag? And if 343i wants to put this in the game, all I'm asking for is a early copy ;P
  5. Am I the only one who thinks they should put some sort of boat or at least an amphibious vehicle? I mean come on! Spartans can't swim and having the ability to fight from the water can add a new type of gameplay to the series. Just imagine naval battles or bombing a shore from a boat!
  6. I think kinect can actually be integrated into halo 5. If used in the right way. Kinect in multiplayer: In multiplayer the kinect could be used in different ways. Like if your in close combat a flick of the elbow would be a melee much faster than pressing a button and you could use the other hand to melee instead of pausing right after you hit someone. You could switch to full kinect mode where you move your hand in a gunning motion to shoot a fist or elbow for melee, and run for sprint. To scope you tell the kinect zoom in, but the kinect would have auto aim but would descope to balance. Of course you can stay traditional and use a controller. Kinect in Forge: In forge voice commands can be used for quicker forging. For example you say "Kinect put bunker. Add stairs down to the left. Make equal." simple commands can be use to place object. Weapons can be placed faster with the kinect. "kinect place 5 fuel rods." I can see real potential with the kinect.
  7. I was looking at walmarts website and i found something while i was looking and that is Halo, When you look at the title it only says Halo (Xbox One) for some odd reason. Here is the description and the game picture. Description Halo 5, a Microsoft console exclusive, is a pre-release general shooter game to be released in December of 2014. More information is on the way! Check back soon! Specifications Genre: Fighting & Shooting Multi Pack Indicator: No Battery Type: Does Not Contain a Battery Model No.: 814349020038 Shipping Weight (in pounds): 0.63 Product in Inches (L x W x H): 7.5 x 5.4 x 0.6 Walmart No.: 551444118 Questions One person asked a question saying " Will Halo 5 be on the Xbox 360?" And the answer was no ^ ^ This can be proven to If you noticed in the title it only said Halo (Xbox One) BUT when you browse around it doesn't have a "Halo (Xbox 360) So this just proves it all that its only for Xbox One Edited I measured the LxWxH and a Xbox One disk case is same size as 360's.
  8. I've been reading a Halo Fanfiction and it's about John dealing with the loss of Cortana and adjusting to his new AI that he gets in the story. In the story, he rejects the truth about Cortana's Death. And when he gets his AI, he is annoyed by it but it's because he misses Cortana. My point is do you think he'll get a new AI and act like this ?
  9. Present halo's game mechanics and emphasize the skill personality. I think this is a subtle, but signifigant thing. Halo developers have never really openly just explained certain game mechanics like the overcharge on the plasma pistol or the instant kill for hitting someone from behind. There were hints and tips at the matchmaking lobby for halo 3 and Reach I think, but they were taken out of halo 4. Halo only has so many gameplay dynamics like EMPs and beatdowns. Then there's things like crouch jumping, plasma grenade launching and etc. The main mechanics however are a big part and most new players or even casual veterens won't take the time to read weapon details or experiment, or read the manual. So basically what I'm saying is to really shove those things in our faces. Maybe have it so when you're holding a plasma pistol that there's notification on your HUD that says "Hold__________to charge". There could be an option in settings to turn off weapon hints too. And put in details for weapon descriptions that say things like "Rapidly depletes shields". There is a good bit of players out there, probably all noobs, that don't realize shield dynamics. Bring back hints at the matchmaking screen that say "Headshots for precision weapons only count when energy shields are down" or something. The other topic is emphasizing halo's skill set. Don't amp up auto-aim on snipers, or take things out of the game for the sake of new players. A lot of noobs and players out there already thought and still think halo takes no skill because they can choose to play sloppy and easily get 1 or 2 kills per life. Most of US don't do that though. Noobs don't really think about deep team-play skills when they play halo for some reason. They don't think about using power weapons like the railgun or rocket launcher to take out enemy vehicles and get multi-kills instead of being selfish and wasting them on minor targets. A lot of noobs don't figure out game mechanics either. So it's a seriously false judgement they make saying "Halo takes no skill" or assuming it has no deep dynamics. Really emphasize the skillset and bring back things like the grav-lift equipment, or those other unique weapons with a learning curve like the grenade launcher from Reach. The dominant atmosphere for all games should be having power weapons only on the map in most gametypes, and power-ups on maps more often. Ordanance should be rare, maybe only certain medals like kill-joys and killing sprees earn up to ordnance. By only power weapons on maps I mean rocket launcher, fuel rod, all snipers...things like that. Then weapons like the SAW and shotguns could be ordnances. Bring back active camo as a power-up too. There could be certain ordnance power ups like damage boost and speedboost for ordnance. Since ordnance is harder to get they might last longer or have more effect. Then overshield and active camo could be on the maps.
  10. Hey, I havn't been here for a while and I just heard 343 are going to really listen to us this time so here goes: Loadout Mechanism: Now I'm not the first to ask for this style of loadout and I certinatly will not be the last. Primary Weapon: your choice between these: UNSC: Assualt Rifle (Shield Break: 12 shots, Health 6 Shots [13 shot kill, really?!]) DMR (Shield Break: 4 shots, Health 1 Hehadshot, 3 Body Shots [Reintroduce the Reach BLOOM]) Battle Rifle (Shield Break: 3 shots, Health 1 Headshot, 3 Body shots [Leave it as is from H4 with maybe more time delay between bursts for balancing matters]) ODST suppresed SMG (Shield Break: 18 shots, Health 10 shots [a scoped fully automatic weapon is new to halo MP]) Storm: Storm Rifle (Shield Break: 8 shots, Health 10 shots [Though I dont see it mentioned in forums alot, the Plasma beats shields, Bullets beat health was removed between the AR and SR in H4]) Needle Rifle (An exact port of reachs, but with a 2.5x zoom [Now as far as canon goes, as the storm uses outdated weapon primarily yet somehow a older beam rifle model is better than H3s, this should technicaly be their precision Weapon]) Covenant: Plasma Rifle (Shield Break 8 shots, health 10 shots [faster fire rate than SR but overheats sooner similar to H2s brute plasma rifle over elite one) Plasma Repeater (An exact port of reachs one) Covenent Carbine (retains all of its H4 ratios) Brute Militia Spike Rifle (Spiker) (Shield Break 10 shots, Health 10 shots, higher fire rate than every other full auto loadout weapon bar SMG and Suppressor) Thorn Rifle: (shield Break 6, health 1 headshot, 3 body shots. as you can tell, a whole new weapon that is a counter to the LR and DMR as it would have a 3.5x zoom, the highest of all loadout weapons but has high recoil and a slower fire rate than all other loadout precision rifles) Forerunner: Light Rifle (leave as is) Suppressor (Again same ratios as H4 but more accurate over range but not by much) Armour Abilities: Evade: The same as reachs version, replaces thruster pack, and you stay in first person one use per cooldown. Drop Shield: This game should reintroduce medpacks, but with automatic pickup. anyway, drop shield does what it does in reach. Regeneration Field: the opposite of Drop shield. instead of healing health and producing a shield, it simply recharges shields like in H4 Active Camo: Anyone who has read reverse active camos effects will know what i want but for those who havnt basically you take active camo and make it work better the FASTER you move to negate the camo campers. also retains ability to hide you from promethean vision while its active. Radar Jamming: as the Active camo would now work better while they are moving fast enough to appear on radar, you can remove radar jammar effect it had in reach and make it an armour ability that also negates you being seen on promeathean vision. promeathean vision, same as H4 but limited to 20 feet. Stamina: While Active your reloads are faster and you can sprint indefinatly. Armour Lock: Remove the emp and stun melee attackers effects and it would be balanced. Hardlight Shield: No Changes Grenade Resistence: 10 seconds of reduced grenade damage with a slow cooldown time you would still die one hit from being stuck. Jump Pack: Hybrid of jetpack and thruster pack a singe use per cooldown upwards thrust that propels you 15 feet in to the air, with a slow rise speed. secondary weapons: Any choice of these two: H4 Magnum (shield break 4, Health 1 headshot, 3 body shots) H3 ODST auto-mag (Shield Break 6 shots, health 1 headshot, 4 bodyshots, more accurate, less BLOOM and faster fire rate) these are my thoughts so far tell me what you think.
  11. What if flood could drive cars, use guns, do things they've never done before. They could create a whole new gametype. Gravedanger: In this gamemode you are either flood or spartans. Both can use covenant, human, and forerunner weapons and vehicles. A gravemind has formed and the flood are becoming stronger mentally with it being created. your job is to exterminate the flood and destroy the gravemind. 16 vs 16 battles Custom game flood: In custom games there could be flood AI that could be customized for example you can have a flood move in a certain direction only or have it have no A.I ( customize), dumb A.I ( has regular flood traits) or smart A.I( gravemind flood can drive, will go after weapons, pickup weapons, drive vehicles, and steal ordinance.)
  12. I think in halo 5 we could play as a scarab in the campaign, multiplayer, or forge. With the Xbox One having computer components it should be able to handle scarabsand other things the xbox 360 couldnt handle. Multiplayer Scarabs: There could in halo 5 you could play as spartan, covenant, or forerunner. If you were playing as a spartan you would be using orbital mac guns to take down the covenant ships or forerunner war sphinxs. If your a covenant your job is to land your phantom or lichie with a covenant crew inside (you can play as the elites, grunts, or jackals inside) or support such as scarabs and wraiths down on the field to take down the war sphinx or mac guns themselves or the people controlling the mac guns or war sphinx if you destroy the mac guns or war sphinx themselves they dont respawn. If your a forerunner your drive a war sphinx and have a crew that fires the main cannon at the covenant and mac guns. Forge scarabs: In forge you could have a 1,000,000 dollar budget a scarab cost 50,000 dollars you can have have as many scarabs as you want without going over the budget we could have scarab battleand maybe in forge there could be a super scarab, it would have two cannon on like thee regular scarab and the main can being 2 scarab cannons in one there would be only 2 super scarabs and they cost 150,000 dollars. In flood there could also be a way to increase the budget by having things called mission spawners that spawn random missions that have forerunner artifacts that worth between $5,000-$100,000.
  13. Ok, story elemets: I think Arbiter should come back, there are many people that want him back I am sure, and new elites would be pretty cool, like, maybe a FEMALE.:} The story can focus on killing of the last of the storm covvies and the Didact, maybe the campaign can be H2 styled, it can focus on Arby's and Chief's story. Also new spartans would be nice, and I strongly suggest ones from the books/comics like Blue Team. Weapons, equipment, and abilities: SMG, MA5B, a select fire BR, carbine, mauler, duel-wielding, equipment from H3, that missel launcher from GOO, and the MA5K. This would be soo cool to have, select fire would be cool too. Armor: MARK 5, why was it not in H4? Hayabusa, SPI, Mark 4, Grey Team armor. Extras: Being able to fight from the ground, to space, and destroy enemy ships in MM and campaign (Like Battlefront!!!!!) The character customization should be like Soul Calibur's. I want to change the face and voice. Let me see your ideas.
  14. First off, I would like to commend 343 on Spartan Ops. I enjoyed the weekly chapters, esp the second half, and in some ways Ops is like Firefight with a story and more momentum. But it is still not Firefight, as many of us have thoughtfully suggested through various forum threads. Here is what I suggest: keep Spartan Ops and bring back Firefight. Here's how: Keep the current options for Spartan Ops, but add in Firefight mode. Basically, Firefight would just be on the Spartan Ops maps, giving players 5 new Firefight environments each week. Firefight is just a gametype, so 343/Affinity would just need to set up the spawning dynamics along with Spartan Ops. And, with the size of Spartan Ops maps there could be more than one Firefight area set up. Spartan Ops/Firefight hybrid model. This would be a blend of the two, with waves of enemies/skulls at locations, limited lives as before, and Spartan Ops like objectives, so that after so many waves of protecting sites, and moving to new locations on the same map. If the team makes it through the second group of waves they move to a new location, etc. You get the point. And the Firefight mode should be like with ODST: with limited lives, which can be earned with each new wave. This could be the way Firefight mode is, a new hybrid model, or a third option. The point is, simply put, we like Spartan Ops and we miss Firefight, like we miss the Flood. What would be Epcot would be Firefight Flood, with AI marines who can be infected, and the bodies of dead Spartans! A bit of a tangent here, buying have a new thought: infected Spartan bodies would retain weapons/loadouts/armor, etc. You would respawn, but the body of the dead Spartan, if not incinerated, would reanimate. Think of that for a moment. CV
  15. Hey guys! If you stumbles across this thread, then lucky you! Here, We can discuss any Halo 5 ideas with the community, And no matter how crazy they may be, We would still love to see them! So please take your time and think of ideas. Im sure everyone wants to hear them! RULES 1. Dont be rude, Discuss things in a mature manner. 2. Dont spam your ideas over and over. 3. Have fun discussing your ideas, Be known for your creativity! Here is an idea from me to get us started! I think we should be able to make 1 specific item for a custom game we made, Like teacher! I always thought it would be cool if the teacher ran around with a sharp feather pen that he stabs the students (Zombies) with and crosses their name out with their blood on a piece of paper... Weird idea, I know. But we need a little more humor for custom games.
  16. An image that could possibly be leaked, or more likely is fake, shows Microsoft's lineup of games to be revealed at E3. Among the list is the logo for Halo 5, and Halo: Spartan Assault. The logo in this supposed “leaked” image, isn't quite the correct logo. Personally, I believe that confirms that this entire image is fake, and the Halo 5 logo with it. Although it’s always possible that was a concept version. This apparently surfaced on 4chan and was then posted on NeoGaf. Whether this is a real leak, or just a fake image (it would be pretty easy to photoshop something like this together), we don’t know. 4chan is obviously not much of a source, and we have no other evidence to indicate that this is real. That said you never really know. Personally, I’m gonna go with fake though. The Halo 5 logo just looks….. weird... for lack of a better word. If this is real I think that would have to be a concept/unfinished logo, as it certainly doesn't look the best. What do you guys think? Real leak,or just fake?" The "Halo 5" logo is at the bottom right corner.
  17. So, many people think that Brutes should return in Halo 5. I completely agree. They were fun enemies to fight and had some of the best weapons and vehicles. However, it struck me that the Brutes may have developed new weapons in the 4 years (or more, considering the time gap between Halo 4-5). So my question is: what kinds of weapons do you think the Brutes would need in Halo 5, and what weapons of old do you think should remain in their arsenal? I have a few ideas of my own as well. 1. A primitive medium-long range rifle (the Brutes need something like this of their own. Heavy damage per shot (not as much as a sniper, but more than a BR or DMR), but possibly has no scope. A blade under the stock (cool animation idea: knock enemy down, grab this rifle by the barrel, and slash the blade across the head or chest). Design-wise, imagine something similar to the Breechshot from Gears of War. 2. A replacement/improvement of the Spiker (more rifle-looking, large bayonet under the barrel, but fires the same kind of projectiles). Kinda treat it how the Plasma Rifle was made into the Storm Rifle. Design-wise, similar to Retro Lancer, also from GoW (I know it may seem like copying, but these kinds of weapons just scream Brute to me) 3. Keep the Brute Shot. It was great and fun to use (so much better than the lousy Concussion Rifle). Also keep the Mauler, as well as the Spike and Incendiary Grenades.
  18. Besides playing as Master Chief for Halo 5, do you think we will play as someone else ? It could be something like Halo 2, we did not know The Arbiter was gonna be a playable character before it came out. Perhaps we'll play as FireTeam Crimson again. Or we will play as Sarah Palmer or a new Character. Or maybe Thel 'Vadam (Please 343i ) again.
  19. Hey guys! I just had an idea for an AA or power up that i've always wanted. but before i get started i do have to give someone credit even though he didn't talk to me or anything about it. all it was, was his profile picture he has right now. WildfireC I love your profile picture and your profile picture is what made me think of my idea. thank you for the pic. the idea was from the captain america master chief on your pic. the one with the shield. ok now to my idea. it's very self explanatory. all it is, is pretty much a the jackal shield. you hold it on the wrist (obviously). it also has the little hole where you can put the gun. the guns that work for it are magnum, plasma pistol, plasma rifle, assault rifle (it is inaccurate if it's assault rifle or plasma rifle), sticky detonator (that is also very inaccurate too). those are all of the weapons. you can sprint with it and run with it when you just normally run you hold it in front you and when you sprint your you don't hold the shield in front of you. when you stand still you hold it in front of you to protect you from fire. it deflects most normal guns and concussion rifle blasts but when it comes to more K.O weapons it gets really weak. it takes two shots for take down with a sniper. and three energy sword strikes. when you crouch with it on you hold it like a jackal does when they are shooting at you from halo 1. all it is, is pretty much the original jackal shield from halo 1. alright i hope you guys like it and tell me your thoughts or improvements or things like that. add on to it etc...
  20. Ok, whilst I am busy, I will post on here another plot line I was thinking about for the next halo installments. As they have yet to announce what the story will be, I am continuously day dreaming about different stories, so I figured I would post another. It involves Cortana and some previously mentioned/ already considered plot derivatives. I will post a full version later tonight.
  21. This video will tell you what goes through my mind when I think about halo. What I would like to see and play as. I'd like to mix it up a bit and have different playlist as well as characters. I hope they change it up just a bit so people can get a good laugh out of halo just like the playlist "Mini Slayer" Fun and new. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qdohz7fijd0
  22. Since Chief doesn't really know that half of The Arbiter's Elites turned evil, and that Arbiter is still good, could John run into The Arbiter andd kill Thel, not knowing he's in good side ? After all, Halo 5 is gonna be a darker title in the series.
  23. Bring Back the Original Grunts! Halo 4 was an amazing game, graphic wise and story wise. However, this small change has made it lose its 'Halo' feeling. The little voices of Grunts. Yes, strange. However, don't you miss just running around and keeping a couple of the critters alive just to taunt them? Hearing the common word of 'nipple,' or the absolute nonsense of a Grunt panicking, trying to hide behind the rest of the pack or behind a Sangheili. Hearing the Grunts even try to taunt you, but to fail miserably, allowing you to have a little laugh. Most importantly, their little voices. The voices were amazing. The voices also can help mediate you while playing Halo on Legendary. In Halo 4, there's nothing to help you be 'happy' while playing. All you really get is raspy voices, that really only tick you off. But the memories of past Halo's on Legendary. At the moments of most anguish, you'd hear a little squeaky voice of a Grunt, either in panic or taunting. This always made me laugh a little at least, and helped motivate to go on. Lastly, the look. The look of the original Grunts fit them, and I actually kinda miss it. They now look like turtles that are in heat. Hopefully, 343 will bring back the original Grunts. Most importantly their voices! (Including the comical language.) Thanks for reading! Comment please, and be sure to vote!
  24. The Future of Halo will no longer considered a "trilogy" but rather a "Saga". According to an article released last week, future titles will no longer be numbered like previous titles. According to Forbes contributor Paul_Tassi .... Last week, before Microsoft pulled a 180 on their DRM and internet policies, I remarked that because the Xbox One was in a rather rough spot, it was going to have to rely on Halo as a system seller now more than ever. The playing field has been leveled a bit since then with the death of license-based disc games and internet check-in, but it’s a statement that still holds true. Microsoft seems to agree. That’s why it’s been announced that 343′s Reclaimer Trilogy, which was meant to be Halos 4, 5 and 6, has now transformed into something Microsoft is now calling a Halo “saga.” This idea sprung to life when they were pressed about what exactly the Halo title was that was shown at E3, as it didn’t have a number or even a subtitle. Would it be an add-on type game like ODST, or another full Halo game like the numbered installments? The answer is the latter, though whether it will be called Halo 5 isn’t clear and might be beside the point now anyway. With that news, Phil Spencer spoke to Gamespot about the new plan for upcoming Halo games: “While we originally said trilogy, we’ve actually expanded this to more of a saga, so we don’t want to limit the Reclaimer story within a trilogy.” What this potentially might mean is that Microsoft wants to bump up the frequency of Halo titles. I don’t think it would be physically possible to turn it into a yearly Call of Duty style release with only 343 working on it, nor do I think that would be good for the series. But we might see a higher occurrence of the games all the same. When all the DRM/always-on drama was going down, I posed a question to Xbox loyalists/Halo enthusiasts about whether or not the games exclusivity on the one would make them buy a system. The response was an overwhelming no. Partly because Microsoft’s policies were too intrusive to stomach, but a fair amount said that Halo just didn’t have the same draw that it used to have after six shooter titles. Many were more excited about Destiny or Titanfall, new IPs from trusted studios, including Halo’s former masters, Bungie. That said, Halo is still a powerful franchise for Microsoft to wield, and by “unrestricting” themselves from a trilogy, it’s clear they have big plans for the series. So there you have it! Future Halos will no longer be numbered with new titles planning to be released more frequently. Also note the response to the "exclusivity on the One would make them buy a system"... "response was an overwhelming NO." What does this mean for the franchise that alot of gamers deemed the "best first person shooter"?? Guess we will have to wait and see what Microsoft and 343Industries have planned. Image and content courtesy of Forbes.com. View full article
  25. What if there's a plot for Cortana to come back in Halo 5 or 6 as the antagonist? Here's my line of thought: In Halo 2 at the end of the level High Charity we see Cortana and Chief split up, and towards the end of the game we see Cortana with Gravemind. In the level Floodgate, when Chief recovers the oracle with Cortana's message, it seems as thought there's degradation in her phsyche or personality. This is shown once again in the level Cortana when Chief finds her, and further more when she starts to babble and utter nonsense when they're on their way to the Pelican. If we stick to the story line put place in Halo 4 those are the first moments when we see the very beginnings of her rampancy. As the story progresses in Halo 4 we see her slowly starting to fall apart until finally she completely loses it in Composer. Finally, in the last level, she appears in a physical form, meets with Chief, and leaves. This is my theory: Between the time when Cortana is separated from Chief in Halo 2, spends time with Gravemind, and is recovered in Halo 3 she has, in essence, become institutionalized by Gravemind, resulting in her turning against the human race. She is able to use her knowledge of the human race from the time since she was created up until now to devise a way to get rid of them. This theory can be supported by another instance where Gravemind institutionalized another AI, turning it against it's creators. 05-032 Mendicant Bias was the most advance AI of his time, created by The Forerunners, tasked to defend against the Flood. This AI is brought up in transcripts in the terminals in Halo 3 which tell of this story. This goes back to Cortana. At the end of Halo 4 she defends Chief during his encounter with the Didact, I think she could have done this to help lead Chief into thinking she is still on his side, which also eliminates an opponent of Gravemind's. Now she is also able to gain physical form using Forerunner technology, which is shown when she physically meets with Chief before leaving him. Something else I've though about is what if Cortana's rampancy is showing her true side, showing a much darker side, and the rampancy was actually causing he to lose control over hiding it? This could have also forced her into taking a physical form, eliminate the Didact, and separate herself from Chief. As a player of the games since Halo CE, reader of the books, and an avid follower of the Halo Universe, I have been extremely pleased with how the story of Halo and the universe has formed. IF there was any truth behind this theory I would be extremely mind blown and rather impressed by how Bungie/343i formatted the games to lead up to this. Of course this is all just theory.
