  1. Quite a few specs report have surfaced over the past month or so and each one has been fairly similar but each have a few minor differences from others. So for those who have been keep themselves up to date with next gen news then you probably have a good idea of what to expect from the next Xbox. So here we have another specs reports but this time its is a detailed diagram of the hardware of the next Xbox. This diagram and report is from vgleaks. CPU: - x64 Architecture - 8 CPU cores running at 1.6 gigahertz (GHz) - each CPU thread has its own 32 KB L1 instruction cache and 32 KB L1 data cache - each module of four CPU cores has a 2 MB L2 cache resulting in a total of 4 MB of L2 cache - each core has one fully independent hardware thread with no shared execution resources - each hardware thread can issue two instructions per clock GPU: - custom D3D11.1 class 800-MHz graphics processor - 12 shader cores providing a total of 768 threads - each thread can perform one scalar multiplication and addition operation (MADD) per clock cycle - at peak performance, the GPU can effectively issue 1.2 trillion floating-point operations per second High-fidelity Natural User Interface (NUI) sensor is always present Storage and Memory: - 8 gigabyte (GB) of RAM DDR3 (68 GB/s) - 32 MB of fast embedded SRAM (ESRAM) (102 GB/s) - from the GPU’s perspective the bandwidths of system memory and ESRAM are parallel providing combined peak bandwidth of 170 GB/sec. - Hard drive is always present - 50 GB 6x Blu-ray Disc drive Networking: - Gigabit Ethernet - Wi-Fi and Wi-Fi Direct Hardware Accelerators: - Move engines - Image, video, and audio codecs - Kinect multichannel echo cancellation (MEC) hardware - Cryptography engines for encryption and decryption, and hashing View full article

  3. Developers already talking about the Halo series and next gen console. In a recent article found at CVG.... 343 discusses Halo 5's next generation potential. Studio will take advantage of any technological developments in the console space. Halo 4 isn't out until November, but that hasn't stopped new series developer 343 Industries talking about the game's successors. Photo credit: 343 Industries/Microsoft "While he was careful not to walk into the trap of directly discussing the likelihood of Halo 5 and Halo 6 appearing on Xbox 720, 343's lead game designer Scott Warner told the Independent that the studio would take advantage of any potential new console hardware when it comes to making future series entries. "I mean certainly as things develop, we have the advantage of working for a publisher and first party development, and if things happen we would certainly want to take advantage of those things," he said. "There's always kind of a careful balancing act between what you decide to improve upon, what you have that you think is really good, what's the great mixture of that to put you in the best position to be successful as a team. But certainly as things go on in development we have an advantage in the sense that we can cross those streams a bit." Warner added: "Obviously we're always attuned to new developments with what's happening internally and externally. "Our current development is all centred around the Xbox 360 and trying to harness everything we can get out of that box, so everything you're seeing is sort of custom built for the 360 experience. Obviously depending on what happens and develops with our company, we'll try to develop our technology and take advantage of it." Will 343 be able to live up to the standards set by series creator Bungie? Get our latest hands-on impressions in this Halo 4 preview. Microsoft has confirmed a Halo 4 release date of November 6."
  4. Microsoft has been showing of it's new technology at CES, it is called "Xbox IllumiRoom". What it does is make your entire room part of the TV screen, your walls will show the content that breaches the edges of your TV and acts as an extension to your screen. More details below. Article and videos are from IGN. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wHV4nclMdGc During Samsung’s keynote at CES today, Microsoft unveiled IllumiRoom, a new technology that turns the entire room around your TV into an extension of the screen. As explained on Microsoft’s official site, IllumiRoom uses Kinect and a projector “to blur the lines between on-screen content and the environment we live in allowing us to combine our virtual and physical worlds.” Microsoft explains that IllumiRoom “augments the area surrounding a television screen with projected visualizations to enhance the traditional living room entertainment experience” and “can change the appearance of the room, induce apparent motion, extend the field of view, and enable entirely new game experiences." Kinect captures the geometry of a room and adapts projected visuals “in real-time without any need to custom pre-process the graphics. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aoUGRGjG07E In a video demo shown off during Samsung’s keynote, Microsoft showed off several different applications of the technology, noting that the footage was “captured live and is not the result of any special effects added in post production.” IllumiRoom appears to be the realization of the immersive display experience Microsoft patented last year, which aimed to make gaming “more realistic” and eliminating “out of context images” that sit next to your TV. Whether or not IllumiRoom will tie-in with next Xbox or the next generation of Kinect remains to be seen, but Microsoft says more details will be revealed at the ACM SIGCHI Conference in Paris in April. 6. Those of you who were in AD's early game on the newyears playdate played this, But for those of you who haven't, here's the run down. Slayer - no teams no loadouts Spawn with random weapons Player speed 175% gravity 75% player jump 175% Bottomless clip This gametype is pure fun with friends and is always a good time killer. The name comes from the game Crackdown, in which your character could outrun a car and jump almost 6 stories in the air. Do to the increased movement, this always needs to be on a large map. So, what do you think? would you play it? Suggestions of changes?
  7. Anyone have any xbox live membership codes hat they don't want or feel like giving away?
  8. If you haven't already heard, Halo 5, the next game in the Reclaimer trilogy, will be released sometime between 2013 and 2015. The only possible problem with this is, some people might be turned off by the fact that they have to buy a new console to play Halo 5.
  9. The Halo4 Forge is by all means an improvement over the previous Forges, but there is still room for improvement. I have started this post to list my own suggestions, and I encourage others to reply with his or her own suggestions and wishes. *Interlocking objects: Similar to locking individual objects, a new tool would allow forgers to link objects. This would allow multiple objects to be moved, duplicated or locked as a group. *Sphere object shape: *Multi-leveled forging: Forge should have a novice/beginner setup (such as it is currently) and an advanced/Experienced setting with much more complicated tools and functions for advanced users. *Man Cannons: Make one man cannon, but add a dial tool for adjusting the power more dynamically. *Inversion: A tool option that allows the user to mirror certain objects such as the ramped platform, buildings, etc. This would help forgers create much better symmetrical maps. *Skins/object color: Ability to add skins/textures to objects. There could be a distribution collection and a way for players to upload custom made textures. *Improve the magnet system to be more dynamic, or perhaps allow users to add magnet markers to objects. *Phased Doors: This object would allow forgers to add a door opening (variable sizes) cut into objects, such as blocks and coliseum walls/windows. *Elevator lifts *Light bridges: Similar to one sided shields, add light bridges to bridges/platforms. Perhaps it would be similar to setting length/width as it is with kill zones, etc? *Locking axis: Ability to lock certain aspects of the rotation axis to isolate specific object movements. *More buildings and expanded object inventory.

    Griffball!!

I don't think I'm the only one but I really miss Griffbal and would put it in Halo 4. I don't think I'm the only one who really, REALLY, wants to have them put it up! -Numa
  11. From the album: Halo drawings in progress

This is the first draft of the UNSC Spirit of Fire, the final will feature a space battle, UNSC Frigates, a covenant cruiser, dogfights between banshees and sabres and a Halo in the background. May take a while.

  12. Since it's been such a huge debate as to whether the Boltshot is overpowered or not I decided to do a video testing the Boltshot's range and killing ability against the human shotgun and the Scatter Shot. As you can see the fact that the Boltshot gets you to one shot and will kill you at a further distance than the other ordinance dropped shotguns proves that this weapon needs some balancing. In my opinion the gun doesn't need to be less powerful, it just needs it's range cut in about half lol. What do you guys think?
  13. Who else would like to see a remake of the game Conker live and reloaded that was on the original xbox and was a remake of the game Conkers bad fur day? 14. Source: CVG Microsoft Game Studios Vancouver is taking on scores of new staff as it begins to work on a next generation games franchise. The studio, which has been rebranded as Black Tusk, is expected to double its headcount to 110 development workers by the end of the year. Black Tusk studio manager Mike Crump says the team is "working on Microsoft's next big entertainment franchise". "We're not working on an existing franchise, we're looking to build the next Halo here, for example, which is really exciting," Crump told regional newspaper The Vancouver Sun. "We are building something from the ground up," he added. According to its official website, "Black Tusk Studios is dedicated to creating immersive, AAA games that push the limits of Microsoft's entertainment platforms." In May, the online CV of an art director at the studio seemingly let slip that the team was working on "a core AAA shooter experience using Kinect".

  16. Hey there everyone! I've been knee deep in Spartan Ops and War Games over the past month, and have taken a long sip from the goblet of pandemonium and teamwork. There aren't many things I can see wrong with Halo4, and Matchmaking for me has become a near addiction. So, in saying that, I've also encountered of a lack of community which, personally, is what keeps me locked to the online experience. In saying that, I'm looking for a clan who like getting together and moving from game to game with mics, entertaining everyone with all flavours of banter. I reckon I'm not that bad of a player and I could be of benefit in competition. I dunno' what people look for as a pre-requisite. I have a positive kill/death ratio, if that helps. Oh, and I’m Australian. Anyway. Hit me up if you like. LeadingSimon316
  17. ...it isn't recognising that I've completed campaign at all I'm sure there a few unlocks I am missing but it just says I haven't completed campaign even though I have done on Heroic. Any help would be great!
  18. Hey guys I've been thinking a lot about what the best loadout is in Halo 4 and have come to the conclusion that there definitely isn't just one. For instance using the jetpack is kind of hard if you play bumper jumper and some people prefer grenadier and others like explosives. So I've posted a video below showing and explaining the full loadout I use, but I was wondering what you guys use and why? Do you use Jet pack, promethean vision, or hologram?

  22. It's been said 343 Industries are looking to hire people with MMO experience. Could this mean a future Halo game will be an MMO game? Read the article below for more details. Source: Gamespot Microsoft has put out a call for staffers with massively multiplayer online game development experience to join 343 Industries to work on future Halo projects. Two job listings at 343 Industries were posted yesterday, both for software development engineers who will work on "building the next generation of backend services to power Halo 4 and our new game saga." These job listings follow additional requisitions posted last week that indicated 343 Industries was staffing up for mystery "incubation projects." A Microsoft representative declined to comment. If Microsoft is building a Halo MMO, it will not be the first time the company has done so. The Microsoft-owned (and now defunct) Ensemble Studios spent three years on a Halo MMORPG codenamed Titan that reportedly held a $90 million budget before it was canceled in 2007. Microsoft shipped Halo 4 earlier this month to a warm critical reception and day-one sales of $220 million. Halo 5 and Halo 6 have been confirmed as part of the Reclaimer Trilogy, though platforms for these games have not been revealed. Job listings from July suggest 343 Industries is at work on a Halo game for a next-generation platform. Microsoft will reportedly have its next Xbox on store shelves during the back half of 2013.
