  1. Hi all newbie here after some forge help, I've updated a few existing maps using forge for use in custom games mainly for slayer games. But i can't seem to find how you extend the playable area or battlefield? While in forge mode you seem to be able to go more or less anywhere without activating the return to battlefield timer. However when actually playing on these maps via the custom games menu the playable area is actually alot smaller and only then you find our that the stuff its taken you and hour or more to build is acutally useless lol. I have deleted all of the soft killzone areas and now instaid of getting a timer you just die via suicide lol so im just asking if there is a way around this as its quite annoying! apart form that i love forge Thanks for your help Fred
  2. Hey H4 community. I am looking for players who build maps in Forge and want to have their maps tested and help others test their maps, as happened with the Forgetacular Contest in Reach. If you fit this description send me a friend request on XBL (CrimsonVolver) and we can set up regular Custom Game Lobbies and playtest and give constructive critiques. Question for 343: will there be another Forgetacular Contest? CrimsonVolver.
  3. Halo forge was one of the greatest ideas yet for video game creativty. But it can be improved even more, people that like forge dont want simplicity for the most part, they want to be able recreate their own world. I propose being able to do just that. A forge where you start out and its just a blank white world, first you chose your background. do want your world to be in space? how about underwater, or on an open valley, a grand canyon, anything you can imagine. then develop your landscape with a new tool, one that you can edit the landscape with; for example select a shape then the amount of area, then pull or push the area to create a hill or a valley, and add lots of other unique things to it. If they added this tool it would be a huge improvement to forge. Add more sceanery! give us tons of options, everything! let us create what ever we want to. Please let us put down AI's. More vehicles, more guns! More more more!!! please comment and add on more ideas.

  5. 343 needs to make an update or DLC with a forge world map and some UNSC air vehicle instead of just the Covenant having the banshee there should be the hornet or falcon

  7. Hi guys and girls, ladies and sirs, dinosaurs and ponies, and all manner of FORGERS. I'm looking at breaking in to the Forge scene, having never, ever actually pressed that option, and I was wondering; What do you wish you had've done first? What do you wish you had've known sooner? What tools/templates have worked best for you, and what should I avoid or not bother with? What did you imagine YOUR first map/game type to look like, and how did that turn out for you? Any other tips or tricks that you can compress and digest would be greatly appreciated!

  9. Building a forge map in Halo 4, and I can't seem to figure out how to make it so that a player respawns inside his teams warthog or mongoose instead of at some random point on the map. Any tips or ideas?

  13. I've been playing around on the new forge maps and I have to say, I love them. 3 Different themes/settings is a great idea. I don't even think that, as they are, the maps are too small. For how the maps are designed, the size fits well. I do, however, have a suggestion that would make forging a far better experience for everyone. (I have more, but this sticks out the most so I will focus on it) Remove Level Boundaries I can understand why you include boundaries on your maps. You don't what players to get places that may be advantageous or problematic when playing a match. 100% logical. But, I have never seen a reason, and this goes for previous Halo games as well, for map boundaries when making/editing your own map. We all know that there are out of sight areas that are not detailed/completed, but why does that matter? I'll use Ravine as an example. I have to say it is my favorite of all the forge maps in Halo 4, by far. This map is HUGE! ... Except for the boundaries... As I was exploring as my little spherical friend, I noticed a few things: 1.) You cannot go water level without the soft and eventually hard kill boundary getting you before you touch it. I loved making water level or slightly submerged maps on forgeworld. It adds a great effect to your maps. 2.) You cannot go behind the rock spires on both sides of the map. Why not? I would almost bet my life they are completely textured. I was thinking that I could make a cliff face level the protrudes out into the ocean, but alas, I cannot. 3.) When you get close enough to the edge of the map, you can literally see the black line in the water where they set the edge of the map. If you look out into the distance, there is an insurmountable amount of free space just sitting there. Yes, the texture of the islands out there is low. That's fine. If someone wants to make a map that stretches that far, why not let them. It's their map. This would also allow people to make their large race maps because none of the forge maps give enough space to do so. 4.) The physical structures of this map extend higher than your moveable/buildable area allows, much higher. Why prevent players from building up there near the clouds, or on top of the higher rocks in the level for that matter? The boundaries even prevent you from standing on top of those. Here's my idea for this. Instead of setting hard boundaries on your maps, use the placeable boundaries already in forge to set your desired boundaries. This way, players who want to be more creative can remove them and use your maps to their full potential. I can promise that if you do, the variety of great maps will increase drastically.
  14. Hey everyone, I recently re-made a CTF map in Impact from a previous (though well received) 1 Flag Foundry Map (Yes, Halo 3). I have had a few friends come and test out my map during the different stages of developement and testing. It's currently in a proto-type version, with ordinance not quite timed, but put for placement. Buildings and structure are in near final stage. If you have any criticisms or reflections on "glitches" or cheats, spawns, weapons and timers, or the discovery of an overpowered position, please post a reply to help me further balance the game. The Map variant is titled "UNSC Say My Name" coupled with it's corresponding Game variant "High-Priority Package". As is the gametype uses it's own custom classes, but you may turn it off as you wish. Final descisions on the caracteristics of the variant are still in the works.   15. - 90% of all games are only between Complex, Adrift, Abandon and Haven, when there is 9 other maps on disc, plus the opportunity for 343i to atleast add Forge maps ffs. -SWAT is on rotation and 343i are removing it, even if it is temporary, that's dumb. -343i put so much effort into EXP banning people just for playing the game when they aren't boosting. -There isn't a system to boot people when they go AFK. -There's seemingly no 343i presence on these forums. -The DMR hasn't been balanced out. Just slightly lower its fire rate ffs. I'm beginning to think 343i doesn't care and are just map starving everyone to try and boost sales of the map packs. When you EXP ban your players, you are begging them to just play Black Ops 2. I'm not trying to sound arrogant or condescending, but a lot of Halo fans have been around longer than you 343i, you should tell Microsoft that sales will continue to be lackluster if they don't let you finish the game. A game is not ready for release when there are no maps, the playlists are a mess and you have to add in the ranking system post launch. I am mostly happy with Halo 4, these are just some problems I'm sure most of the community would like fixed. You aren't Bungie, you have to earn respect. Please read etc, but I doubt it.
  16. Halo Reach's Forge World was big, and could accommodate giant race maps, BTB and just be fun to explore and walk in. Sure, structures were gray, but so many options were available. The large space allowed for so much to be built. Anyone who says "well, you didnt use all of it, so why do we need it?" We didnt use it all, correct, BUT we were given more options on where to build, bigger things to build and simply as much room as we needed. Halo 4 has stripped our ability to build large structures and the like. What we need: 1.A Large map, as almost as big, as big or bigger than Forge world. 2.This map would be semi-hilly, with larger pieces of flat land. 3. Off to the side we would like some mountains, a lake, something interesting to look at, BUT also to climb up. 4. Get rid of the kill boundaries or at least let us go farther out. 5. If the map is big enough, why not include a pelican or a mammoth? Its possible, who cares if it isnt "practical" for matchmaking or competitive, leave the Forge decisions to the Forgers. We as a community dont want much. Flat land and some small hills thrown in, completely possible. Please 343 Industries, take this into consideration.
  17. We Need Better Custom War Games! Because of the recent hype of precision weapons being unbalanced, it is obvious that the maps are one of the biggest influences on the hype, due to that most maps are oblong and stretched, what we need is a tight corridor map, something like mazes, but that are actually oriented to the competition. These tight corners and hallways will lead to our great ascendance of gameplay that we truly desire as loyalist Halo fans. Thus, this is once we were forced to with Halo: Reach, and It's going to take some hard dedication and some serious builders to orchestrate these masterpieces that we speak of. And so I call out for you strong forgers alike, in the hopes that we can revive the spirit of custom War Games in hopes that the affordable experience that was once lost shall return. Now you may be dumbstruck by my vocabulary, but do not be frightened, for I am one of you as well. I am humble and relaxed, but I must have the efforts to stop an inevitable fate that we will succumb to in our future, known to us as the File Browser's defeat in Halo: Reach, and I simply won't let it happen again... I also call out for you who seek rich flavor of custom gameplay in my occasional lobbies of such. If you feel the need to start anew, attend for me at the gamertag of DeathRhinoAC130.

First of all, I made this contest for all of the dedicated Forgers in Halo, because there are not enough people who have been awakened to the awesomeness of Forge. Okay, the rules are: 1. It must be on Halo: Reach or Halo 4. 2. It must be a challenge map. Like ex. Indiana Jones, Ninja Test, etc. 3. It doesn't need it's own gametype. Just use Slayer, Oddball, etc. 4.   19. Why doesn't 343 industries make the forge interesting by making a Forge planet.... Features of this . All the halo maps in past and current are in this planet . U can fly into space . Forge world inc . Place able AI ( like grunts, marines, spartens, brutes ,jackals etc) . All vehricals are placeable inc pelican' phantom, lichs and others . Able to place UNSC and Covenant ships as scenery . Elites are able to be used by player . Able to use a flat world in some area of the planet . Also the Planet would update when new DLC has been downloaded . No money limit . Objects such as: Tv's, computers radios turrents, tube lights etc are placable Add more ideas if any
  20. Guys, I've been lacking creativity lately. Can someone give me ideas for Forge maps to build? I'm kind of lost on what to build.
  21. I would love to see some natural vegetation added into forge objects, say trees or bushes, tall grass or vines or moss. I would also like there to be more UNSC base lights, not just the light orbs like we have now but actual lights, that we can just stick into a corner in a hallway or above a door and create a more custom and believable feel to our maps. And how insane would it be if we have water that we could add, like my best description is say you have a giant castle floating in the air, and you want to build a moat around it, well just like the respawn areas or safe boundaries we could control where water would appear and where it would end. Kind of hard to explain but my idea of it would be amazing. Anyone else have some good ideas?

  23. Not much to say really, I was really looking forward to the Halo 4 forge and although it added some exciting new things to the table... some really important elements just simply left out. Not to mention that all the maps are crippled with kill zones...Nice job 343. But that would be fine because after all forge world had it's similar problems and I was not really to fussed to be honest, what really killed it for me was "Custom" games or what I now like to call it "games" because they is pretty much nothing customistable... it hasn't been this bad since Halo CE, heck at least in CE you could choose if you had weapons placed down on the map. The Next issue is the game-types themselves or lack of them, One flag? Assault? Headhunter? Stockpile? VIP? all solid gametypes removed for no reason... What about the Insane game-type? Please don't make use wait a year for any of these game-types to make an appearance. The general reaction to this is that "We need to be more creative now" but that doesn't make any sense because we need less restrictions not more for that to happen. Discuss.
  24. Well isn't this surprising..? 343, You done good. The Campaign? Amazing. The War Games? Fantastic. The Spartan Ops? Incredible. So what the hell went wrong with forge and custom games!? No more custom powerups? Really? And for flood... Why..? WHy cant we change anything!? You barely even put in new features that were relevant. Ordinance is cool and all but let me edit some more options! I cant change the classes for flood? That is the most boneheaded move you guys could possibly make. People Loved, LOVED, infection for Halo's past because of all the great options for cool and interesting maps. And you guys come in and screw it all up... As an avid forger and custom game player i'm extremely disappointed... Please, PLEASE fix these issues ASAP. I have many more suggestions that make sense and would love to be able to get my opinions heard. 343 I'm calling you out. If you want to keep people playing your game instead of BLOPS II Please listen...
