  2. While arguing in another thread it occurred to me what went wrong with the introduction of Armor Abilities. AA's were envisioned as the follow up to previous Halo's equipment and Power Ups. But those things had been "power ups". They conferred an advantage on purpose. Where Reach went wrong was trying to apply things which were meant to make you more powerful in such a way as to make everyone equally powerfull. In Halo 3 the Bubble Shield is not meant to match Active Camo. It is not supposed to be a level playing field. In Reach, Bungie tried to modify all these preexisting things than throw in some new ones without making an effort to make the different AA's balance each other Rock,Paper,Scissors style. So the core problem is trying to adapt things which are inherently asymmetrical in gameplay terms to be symmetrical, and the result of this contradictory approach is you get AA's which are either lame knockoffs of previous versions (Active Camo) or Overpowered (Armor Lock). And this says another thing about the future of Halo...if 343 makes an armor customization system which changes peoples abilities but is not necessarily the Armor abilities of Reach, it doesnt have to have the same problems because rather than trying to adapt things which are inherently unbalanced to be balanced, 343 will likely be starting off from a point of "what little changes can we give people to customize themselves while remaining balanced?".
  3. Am I the only one that wishes 343i would completely trash the new features that were in Reach and return to more of the Halo 3 and 2 type of gameplay? I feel like Bungie tried to appeal to the mainstream gamers and left the traditional Halo fans out. I hardly play Reach because I hate the armor abilities and the ranking system, and it took me a few months to get over the fact that they added custom loadouts. When I play Reach, i get the feel that I am playing a Call of Duty that is set in the future. I am hoping that 343i will at least take out the armor abilites and either go back to something like the Halo 3 equipment or don't have any equipment/armor ability at all; and that they will return the the Halo 3 ranking system that is actually based on skill rather than time spent playing that game, but I am afraid I am going to be disappointed. Sorry if this jumps around a little bit and seems more like a vent, but I have been wanting to put up a post like this for a long time (since a Halo 4 was made official) so I could get other people's opinions, but I just got around to making an account today.

  5. Dual wielding was first introduced in halo 2 and was countinued in halo 3, but in halo reach the player couldn't dual wield, but elites in the campaign and fire fight, which wasn't fair to the gamers. So I think 343 should fix that in halo 4 and bring back dual wielding.

  7. I honestly think that 343 is taking a turn in the wring direction by letting people pick custom loadouts. There will always be that one guy who gets the cheapest combo like br sniper with plasma nades. 343 would probably limit the combinations that you can have but I don't like the idea. Alright, so I had this idea while playing Reach campaign, I know it may sound cheesy but when a UNSC solider dies while I’m playing campaign, I’ll stop, take a knee and bow my head next to the body as a “sign of respect.” Then I had the idea, what if there was a “Battle Rage” or ”Fallen Hero” award/bonus for doing this? Say in a multiplayer your teammate is killed. You stop, kneel down and hold the melee button while aiming at the corps. There is a quick animation of you laying the corps in a respectful position. (Think how 117 did in Homecoming “Halo: Legends.”) In campaign he marks the body for extract and a UNSC ship comes and evacts him. Then you get an award. Also, I thought it would be cool if you see the death and do this. You get a “Battle Rage.” That is to say 15-30 seconds of enhanced speed, melee power, agility, and unlimited ammo, to take out the enemy/opponent that killed him, with the announcer stating “Battle Rage.” I think to keep this balanced you should only be able to get it once per teammate/once per person in a match. Also I wanted to throughout the idea that the reason Spartans sometimes where such vibrant colors, is so other UNSC soldiers can see them on the field of battle, and be inspired. And on that note, would it be possible to have camo schemes (Desert/ACU/BDU), as well as colors, for character customization? What do ya’ll/343 think?

It has 3 power weapons: A shotgun in the right (from red's point of view), a sniper on the left (red's point of view), and a rocket launcher in the middle. Has 4 needlers (2 that have no clips), some plasma/flag grenades, DMR's, magnums, Needle rifles, Assault rifles and some Covenant weapons that most players would rather "pass by". It is a small, symmetrical map, pretty balanced out and, through the test gameplays I did with the members here, should turn out fantastic in the 1v1/2v2 tournament. I've used those circular ramps to make it look like you are playing in a factory, and lighting effects in some areas, so that the map doesn't look TOO dark. The bridge I made looks really good and I think that will have some great slayer action on it.

  13. I have been thinking about what are the players going to be able to play as in halo 4 multiplayer. I think instead of just being given the option of spartan and elite we should be given 2 categories one UNSC and the other COVENANT. The unsc one will have 3 options spartan, odst and marine and the covenant Elite, Brute and Grunt. If you agree please reply also think about this, being able to play as a FORERUNNER.

  15. In other halo games we the players have been given the option to play as a spartan or an elite but in halo 4 I think that should change. There should be 2 options one UNSC and the other THE COVENANT. The unsc one would contain 3 options spartan, marine and odst and the other elite, brute and grunt if you agree to this reply and say what you have to say. PS: I really hope that we can also play as Forerunners.

Okay, talking to my friend TwinReaper a while ago about the modding community, it's understood that they want in on Halo games without having to deal with the trouble of being banned and what not. I have just figured out a way for 343 to have mods be used in their game without bothering matchmaking, and it will obviously increase the replay value of the game. Since the beginning of gaming history, video games with a modding community seems to last a very long time, just look at halo CE or the elder scrolls games, or even Garrys mod. I think, like the "most downloaded" list, there should be a "most downloaded mods" list. That can only be used for custom games aslong as they do not have copyrighted content AND cannot affect MM and they have to be approved by officials at 343, which means there will not be thousands of mods in the first day, but hey, it's better than nothing. The way players would contact 343 officials to get their personal mod out there and free to download is that they must go to this website, go to something like a drop box where their file is examined and after a few weeks, it can be uploaded to halo 4 by 343I. To activated these mods, players must be in their own custom games lobby, and go to a list in the options menu, where they must check the boxes of which mods they do or don't want to use. Plus, players will not be able to use their own mods in other people's custom games lobbies.. Modders will finally be able to have some effect in Halo 4 and players will always have something new. And if a player is found using content that hasn't been approved by 343, by the power of grey skull, ban his ass. Thus giving the game more replay value, besides, everyone wants to do crazy things in Halo 4.

I think it would be nice if 343i added a color wheel to halo 4 instead of just a few colors to choose from, like to be able to choose from a bunch of shades of blue, instead of just 3 shades, like in Halo:Reach, and to have a color wheel for the visor, instead of a few colors like in Reach. And the color wheel should apply for every single part of your armor, like feet armor color, calf armor color, knee gaurd color, thigh armor color, chest and back armor color, shoulder pad armor color, arm armor color, helmet color, and visor color, and color options such as Pearl, Metallic, Sparkle, Gloss, Matte, stuff like that.

  19. I think Halo 4's armor customization should have multiple color schemes. Don't you? Maybe someone else wants their shoulder pieces to be different colors. I just thought about it, figured they should do it anyways, I mean, what could it hurt?
  20. 343i has stated that they will be doing the next best thing dealing with 'equipment/armor abilities' Such as Halo 2 having power ups, than Halo 3 having equipment, then of course Halo Reach's Armor Abilities. So what do you think will be the next best thing and more unique than the rest?
  21. What makes halo unique is the competition that happens in matchmaking and the endless creativity and fun that happens in custom games. The core gameplay settings of halo 1,2 and 3 are what makes the gameplay balanced, simple, and skillful. When you respawn in halo 3 you are just as capable of winning as the other team, it just depends on the amount of skill you possess to win. When people get bored of halo they start playing it competitively and competition is endless entertainment. Reach didn't have good competitive gameplay which is why it got boring for me, i would still play halo 3 to this day if the community wasn't dead. Unfortunately some people don't possess that much skill or a desire to win, therefor competition is not an option for them. Most of these people want mechanics they see in other games put into halo so it will become more interesting, the addition of gameplay mechanics will only destroy the competitive side to halo, we have all seen that in reach. im not saying that i want no change to come to halo, i understand the inevitability of change. But you should never bring extreme change to whats already near perfect, changes can be made to things other than the core gameplay. Add new armor, enhance map making capabilities for players, come up with new game types and playlist, do what ever you can to make the game more customizable. Recreational custom games are always available for those who don't wish to play competitively, if any crazy feature is to be added in the game it should accessible through these, it shouldn't be carved into the game. I trust 343 when they say they are rebooting the series, but many don't when they say that they are going to cancel their preorder because of what the vidoc showed. Halo fans are scared about whats going to happen to halo 4, this is because they think halo reach and its ideas could possibly influence any future games and a lot of people don't like those ideas. What fans need to understand is that halo has a very divided community, you have the hardcore competitive gamers, the creative all about fun recreational gamers, the newbies, and the casual gamers who just want to socialize with people they haven't meet before. This makes halo a very delicate game to change, a change may be beneficial to one group but it could be devastating to another. So if 343 wants to maintain and increase the population of gamers in it's community it is imperative that they DO NOT CHANGE THE CORE SETTINGS OF GAMEPLAY. Reach may of made as much money as halo 3 (correct me if im wrong) but that's because the people who suffered from it's drastic change of gameplay didn't know what they were buying, but now they know what a uncompetitive multiplayer game looks like with the face of halo.

    Few Thoughts

    Here are a few ideas, 1st - the campaign -please do not have the flood in halo 4, have it in halo 5,6 -same with the cov. or at least not with the chief -bring back the halos, and Dyson sphere -and have more forerunner stuff and/or them 2nd - the multiplayer/forge -fix infection, glitches occur when trying to infect such as the 'betrayal' and not killing glitch (cutting shields and not health) -very little bloom, gets annoying when you have to wait for it to go down -customizable elites, halo 3 was good not Reach -cR earnings for armour, NOT for ranking up, exp does that 3rd - the actual hardware (ie manuals) -please have in depth manuals, not like CE:A, halo CE - 3 and Reach manuals were great -limited/legendary editions? that's all my thoughts GO 343i
  23. I think as a die hard halo fan an with 343 making halo 4 i feel it should be great i trust them alot! Im hoping tht in halo 4 when theres multiple accounts there should be there own pause menu similar to cod! What are your opinions?

One of the most amazing things that has me extremely excited for Halo 4 is the Uniqueness of Halo 4 is outstanding diverisity in armor and, it's keeping me on my toes, on what more customization of armor or even the actual soldier that 343i will come up with next. Keep us guessing 343i and keep doing a good job. Feel free to comment on my opinion.
