This months update adds the highly requested voice message option we've been missing since we upgraded from the Xbox 360. Once you've downloaded the update you can send and recieve voice messages from both Xbox One and Xbox 360. Recording and sending a voice message is done through the snapped messages app. Another popular request was to be able to power up your console through the Xbox One Smartglass app. The Smartgalss app has been updated for all platforms (Windows, Windows phone, Android and iOS) and will now let you turn your Xbox One on and off if they're on the same network. Your Xbox One will need to be on Instant-On power mode for this to work. Next up is user selectable power modes. This update adds the option to either set your Xbox One to Instant-On power mode, which let's you use the voice command "Xbox On" to power up and download updates on the background, or Energy-Saving mode ,which shuts down your console completely in order to save power. This initial set-up feature was, untill now, only available in Europe but will now be available worldwide. Lastly we have dedicated servers for party chat. Back in March dedicated servers were set up for party chat and were made available for preview program members for testing. Now it's being expanded to everyone owning an Xbox One. These dedicated servers should resolve the problems of some people with different NAT settings not being able to use or join the party chat system. The dedicated servers will be made available to everyone over the course of a few weeks to ensure things go smoothly. What are your thoughts on these new features and fixes? Let us know down below! Thank you for reading! Source: Xbox Wire

An update with a plethora of new features will come to the Xbox One in June. EXTERNAL STORAGE SUPPORT With this update the Xbox One will be able to support up to two external hard drives at the same time. This will update allow the user to keep as much data as he desires on his external storage device, keeping the Xbox One's storage nice and clean. There will even be a one-step option to copy entire games to the storage device. Then whenever one needs to access this data on another Xbox, they will only have to sign in to their Xbox Live account and verify that they are indeed the owners of the content. REAL NAMES FOR FRIENDS The Xbox One allows the user to have an incredibly large number of friends-1,000 to be exact. SMARTGLASS UPDATE Smartglass will be updated to contain all the features of OneGuide and support for Universal Remote Control. This will allow users to access all of their TV listings, channels, and App channels form their Smartglass device. TV AND ONEGUIDE OPENING IN MORE PLACES In April specific members of Xbox Live were granted access to the features of TV and OneGuide. Minecraft on the Xbox One gets a release date [UPDATE]
Unease Peanut posted a article in 343 Industries News
Minecraft on the Xbox One gets a release date [uPDATE] The very popular game Minecraft has finally gotten a release date for the Xbox One. The game will be available for download on the Xbox One starting the 5th of September at a price of €19,99. Players who already own the game on the Xbox 360 can choose to upgrade their current game for the price of €4,99. If you rather want to get the game through a retailer you will have to wait untill somewhere near the end of the month when retailers start sell download codes. You can get the discount by showing them your Xbox 360 Minecraft disc. This upgraded Xbox One version will make your world up to 36 times bigger than the Xbox 360 version. Unlike the Xbox 360 version you will start off with the latest updates immediatly. Even downloadable content you purchased on the Xbox 360 will carry over to your Xbox One. You can either play with 3 other friends through split-screen or up to 7 others over Xbox Live. Owners of the Playstation 4 can play Minecraft starting today! (3rd of Sept) Both versions were due to release this August but encountered some delay which has caused it to release this week. UPDATE: So... Apparently the Minecraft Xbox One edition has come to the Xbox Store a day early. Only problem is that it's listed as 114,99 pounds... This is surely an error, but there's still the option to press 'Purchase now'. Nobody has been stupid enough to go through with it... Yet. Will you be getting Minecraft for the Xbox One or Playstation 4, and will you make use of your discount? Let us know down below! Thank you for reading! Sources: nl.ign Eurogamer Polygon -

Hey 343i community, I was just browsing good ol' Youtube today when I found THIS surprising bit of news that yet reignites the demand to see Halo enter the PC world (again), in all of its glory. I sure hope it does, as it would save me from buying a new console just to play the games on an inferior system. How BA would this be? It would not be great marketing on Microsoft's part to release a PC version of the collection, at least at launch, but my God would it make a LOT of gamers happy. You guys think the hype is real?

Hello guys, I again find myself with nothing to do and decided to make another review. Before I start I wanted to thank Total Mayhem for providing me with great feedback on my previous review. So...Let's get started. The Xbox One As you all might have noticed about a week ago I got my very own Xbox One. And I have never been so excited to go home from school and wait for a mailman! Once he delivered I rushed upstairs to plug it all in only to find out they gave me an english power cable (I live in the Netherlands so it is useless here)... Thank you local gamestore! My parents are still making fun of the face I made when I pulled the power cable out. Luckily I was able to 'borrow' the right cable from my 360 console. (Don't worry, My local gamestore was nice enough to still send me a power adapter for free) The console needed to apply some updates before I could play so I decided to take a look at... The controller. One of the first things I noticed was that it was almost as smooth as silk in my hands. And the removal of the battery pack at the back made it look less bulky. It fit like a glove. Then I noticed the changes to the analog sticks. They were a bit smaller and didn't have as much resistance as the xbox 360 controller. You need about 0 effort to push them around which makes it easier to react in shooters. The triggers have the same thing. Very little resistance on the pull. Only these are made larger and your fingers can kinda curl around them, which feels nice. The one thing that did bother me a bit were the bumpers. I don't know why but you have to press a lot harder in the inside parts of the bumpers than on the outside parts. Which makes it a bit more difficult to press for players with larger fingers. After the console did what needed to be done and I ran the setup. I was surprised about how the kinect recognized me and automaticly signed me in. So I decided to play around with the kinect for a bit. The Kinect I have never used a kinect on the 360 so this thing is kinda new to me. After walking through a tutorial on how to use it. I tried some of the gesture commands. My room isn't the recommended size but I can still use the gesture commands to go around the dashboard. The commands are not hard to memorize which is a plus aswell. The only problem I've encountered so far is to 'push' buttons or tabs that are in the lower areas of the screen. But I think that is because I too close to the sensor. Then I tried to use voice commands. Whilst my Xbox One was set to Irish. Needless to say It didn't work because it didn't recognize my dutch accent. Even telling it to "Tern yerself on ya bloody -Yoink!-, I'll reward ya with a good 'ol scotch" didn't work. After changing it to the US it worked a lot better. The only times it doesn't work now is if I try to put in commands that don't exsist. I so far really don't get how people are complaining about how it doesn't work. Even with a heavy Dutch accent I'm able to put in voice commands 99% of the time. Overall a very nice adition to the console Now onto the... Dashboard The Dashboard is very familiar to the xbox 360 dashboard. Only now the 'Home' page is all yours. No more ads. It only displays the stuff that is yours. (The ads you see to the left are from the 'Store' section) You have quick acces to eveything you are playing or have recently played. With the Home button on your controller, the gesture command or the voice commands you can easily switch between games and apps without needing to shut one of them down. So while your game is loading or installing you can watch some youtube video's to kill the time. Very nice feature. The lesser amount of tabs makes it easier to move through the dashboard but I found myself wondering where I could acces my xbox settings and or storage. Now onto my conclusion because this post is getting rather long. Overall the Xbox One is a very good console. It has it's minor flaws here and there but hey... nothing is perfect. Is it worth the €600,-? That remains a question for yourself to answer. In my opinion is is a bit at a high price. But I still think it was totally worth it. Thanks for reading through this and please leave some comments and or tips. Have a nice day!

Hellow, Recently I have found a work-around in getting the Xbox One shipped to my home (Netherlands, one of those countries where the Xbox One didn't release...). But I was held back because of some interesting rumour. Because it is rumoured that a new series of Xbox One consoles is being produced without all the bugs and glitches that the first console had. (like a sluggish HDD, Blu-ray that doesn't work well and trouble with installing games) Is this by any chance true?

I've recently stumbled over an interesting excerpt from the latest edition of Xbox Official Magazine that I'd like to share with you all: Having fun hacking people's arms off in Ryse, or getting stamped on by Aoife's (she claims) unstoppable Drivatar in Forza Motorsport 5? The best is yet to come, you may be unsurprised to hear. Speaking to OXM as part of a lengthy piece on the future of Xbox One you'll read in our latest issue, Microsoft Studios exec Phil Harrison has promised that future Xbox One games will make use of the platform's various capabilities in far more interesting ways. "When you've been around for a long time, you know what platforms are like," he began. "The games you celebrate and are proud of in the first year, when you look back at them from the perspective of ten years from now; you'd be amazed at the difference. It's a combination of the tools getting better, developers beginning to understand the unique architecture to work with." The claim that developers are able to do more with hardware they're used to is hardly electrifying, of course. It's already been suggested by CD Projekt's lead engine programmer Balázs Török that Microsoft will unlock "hidden" performance boosts for the Xbox One - a prediction he bases on Microsoft's sharing of new techniques for development on Xbox 360 across 2007 and 2008. This probably won't amount to anything as dramatic as the discovery of another gigabyte of RAM, but Harrison insists that there's less of a "glass ceiling" for eking more juice out of the Xbox One, thanks to the much-touted and still largely ethereal benefits of the Xbox Live cloud. "Crucially this time around, there's the power of the cloud and what that means for game design. That can grow and scale indefinitely - of course there is a practical limit but in effect you're uncapped. And I think, from a player's perspective, that's the most exciting part; that it's not just about the chips in the box under the television or wherever you position your console of choice, it's about what the platform will provide you with over time. We've not had that in a console generation before." This growing process ostensibly applies to both performance and features. There are, Harrison told us, plenty of ideas Microsoft has yet to fully implement - whether couched as part of a game, or in the form of an app, or in some other form entirely. "There are more ideas and vision for what games can be than available time to build them into the launch games. "So for every feature you've seen in the launch titles - SmartGlass, GameDVR, use of voice with Kinect - there are five features in the queue waiting to come out, either in an update or a sequel or in a future version of a game. The kind of creative and technical innovation that we're seeing in the industry - it's a really good time." Source This post has been promoted to an article

IGN News I'm sure many remember Microsoft's less-than-flawless reveal of their new console, the Xbox One, a couple months ago, and again at E3. It's apparent lack of core gaming features and iteration of many TV/DVR integration features gave the impression that the X1 was no more of a gaming console than a DVR. Sony fans laughed. Xbox fans cried. And Nintendo fans did whatever Nintendo fans do. The new Xbox was fell drastically in popularity, being outsold in preorders to Sony's PS4 10:1 or more. The main problems included the requirement of daily internet access for the console to keep games up to date and deter hacking. It was announced not backwards compatible with Xbox and Xbox 360 games. The hard drive was internal and rather small in capacity, considering games require installation on the X1, so many complained that running out of storage without means of upgrading the hard drive may be impossible. Microsoft allowed developers to integrate single-use game codes (kind of like the Cerberus service for Mass Effect 2 or Multiplayer for BFBC2) so games could not be resold. And most importantly (to me, anyway) was that the internal hardware was notably inferior to Sony's PS4, and yet cost $100 more. Yes, the Xbox One was falling way short of expectation in more ways than I can remember, and Microsoft's Xbox division took a hit when it's president, Don Mattrick, resigned and was replaced by a person with no gaming background. Personally, I thought this to be the fall of Xbox. But three months later, it may have risen again. A couple days after confirming mandatory internet access intervals, Microsoft rejected their new DRM policy and fell back on one resembling the Xbox 360, which worked fine anyway. Personally, this was a selling point for me because I do not get internet service for about 4 months per year. It was also at this point that Xbox One sales finally started competing with Playstation 4. I figured that Microsoft would stop there, at least until after release, to see consumer response of their still rather lacking console. But (thankfully) they didn't. Not too much later did they announce that the Kinect sensor no longer needed to be active or even plugged in to play. I also noticed that the hard drive could now be accessed externally, which makes me believe, though not confirmed, that the hard drive may be replaceable. Microsoft developers will no longer use single-use codes, so games can be resold, and cool extra features such as in-game DVR recording, cloud-based processing (for those lucky enough to have great internet service), reputation preservation (to save and tranfer each player's hard-earned gamerscore), Second screen integration via Xbox Smartglass application for most mobile devices and Windows 8 OS, Blu-Ray disc drive, and many entertainment center integration features have shined light on the potential of the Xbox One, which began outselling PS4 at most main retailers. As of late, Microsoft has, yet again, updated the hardware of their new console by slightly overclocking the consoles 8 core AMD CPU, improving the base clock speed from 8.00MHz to 8.53MHz. They also upgraded the GPU to accomodate. Unfortunately, the Xbox One is still not backwards compatible, but that is not really Microsoft's fault because they had to change to a core architecture that offers best performance and simplest coding for developers, and Xbox and Xbox 360 games are not compatible with this architecture (they made the right choice changing to an architecture the best suits their future than degrading quality to hold on to the past). The console still requires game installation for reasons unbeknownst to me. Xbox Live is still not free, but I do not think Microsoft is raising the price for the service. The console does need to access the internet at least once before use, probably to register the console and update, etc. The console is also still slightly inferior to PS4 in clock speed and in RAM (Playstation 4's 8GB of DDR5 will offer better loading times and reduced graphical latency than the X1's conventional 8GB DDR3) and is still more expensive, but those who know how business works know that Microsoft follows a 'Closed Console' business model when selling consoles, meaning they actually lose a little money by producing consoles (because there is more than $500 of third-party computer equipment in the Xbox One) and try to make up losses in game sales, which is why games are so expensive, why console exclusives exist, and why used game sales hurt console manufacturers. Considering that Microsoft is also trying to appeal to non-gamers as well with TV integration features, Microsoft has to make up for those few who buy the console without games. Add in the rather advanced Kinect sensor, and $500 does not sound too appalling. Moral of the story: for the best gaming experience, Sony's Playstation 4 is technically the superior console. However, if you like Xbox and are not ready to give up on Xbox exclusives we've grown to love to avoid a poor gaming experience, the new Xbox One, in my opinion, is now a console worth buying. Thanks for putting up with my novel-esque post! P.S.: Excited about Halo 5? Liked the E3 teaser but hate watching it in poor, E3 recording quality? TRY THIS!

Hey All, Just wondering and want to know everyone's opinion, When the Xbox One comes out, what would happen to the Xbox 360, and is the Xbox One worth getting? Like there are some good thing about it like: Pros (Good things): Awesome 60 fps reached! Exciting Games (Halo 5, CoD Ghosts, AC (Assassins Creed) Black Flag and many more!!!) Cons (Bad Things): Way too expensive ($500 estimated) Internet connection from it to Internet meaning your internet will be drained ALL the time even if Xbox is turned Off. No Offline Mode for private gaming Games NOT selling on discs, you must but them online like from the console itself, not at JB or Eb Games or anything, also meaning you kinda, cant buy your friend a game. So as you can probably see, there are quiet a lot more Cons than Pros about the Xbox One. So the main quetion here is: It is Worth Getting??? For just like Games and stuff? Give me your opinion by leaving a reply!!! P.S:If I made a mistake about anything or am wrong about anything, tell me and I will have the information removed thanks!!!

Hey Guys, we all know that Halo 5 is coming onto the Xbox One and that alone, if that does continue (and it will), what will happen to the 360??? It would probably lose, more than 3/4 of all the players that play on it, because of the Massive switch over from 360 to One, will 343 shut everything down (Like all online Servers) like with Halo 2? or would they keep it there, but with very small amounts of people... P.S:Of course Im not just talking about Halo 5, but other games too, but main thing is, what will happen to 360 after the release??? Tell me what you think here...

The Xbox One has been getting an awful lot of hate lately. I don't understand why. MS already confirmed there will be no fee for used games and it won't always need to be online. People keep saying it's just a glorified cable box, and MS doesn't care about the games. But before the reveal even started, MS said it would mainly just be showing off its hardware, and save the games for E3. Which they did. People are so misinformed, they just jump on the hate bandwagon without knowing any facts. Why don't we wait till E3, when they actually show off some games before we start giving our opinion? How are we supposed to know if a console is bad or good when we haven't really seen what it can do?
