  1. The Halo 4 community is in need of some master forgers. I have been having trouble trying to convince players to join custom games, so I thought to try here. Sooner or later the involvement of community games will be expanded upon, and we would do best to be ready with some awesome maps. If there are any master forgers out there in need of tester-forgers, they need not look any further. The following requirements should be met: 0)Originality and Creativity are quite obvious! 1) Symmetrical use of environment and forge pieces. 2)Asymmetrical forge skill equal to or greater than that of a symmetrical forger. 3)Knowledgeable use of advanced settings up to and including offbeat gametypes/maps like hockey and skeeball 4)Mastery of object placement in regards to player movement under different environmental circumstances. 5)Scaling capablities are a must. Forge offers a variety of size options for the same map concepts. And lastly, I would like to invite forgers who don't always go for the 0,0,0 orienation. Forge's worlds are not always 0,0,0, disallowing the easy building of Symm maps. This often forces us forgers who are more obsessive-compulsive to make Asymm maps. However, from this difficulty, I have produced all of my most favored maps. I will keep forging in the meantime. 6 maps and counting. b0b is here Zero in b0b
  2. Coordinates: I'd like to compare the Colliseum Wall to the Block 1X1 Tall and Thin. These pieces are exactly 0.5 width. Half of 0.5 does not line up correctly on a coordinate system that uses tenths. The 1X1 Tall and Thin does the right thing and offsets the rotational point. If you line up it's longer edge with another piece then flip it, it's suddenly 0.1 higher than the other piece, but still on the coordinate grid. You can just move it down by 0.1 and boom, problem solved. The Colliseum Wall doesn't do this. The rotational point of the Colliseum Wall is exactly in its center, which is 0.25. It needs to be offset like the 1X1 Tall and Thin. That way, it will line up with other pieces without needing fine editing, nudging tricks, or magnets. Invisible Barriers: Why are these here? It's especially bad on Erosion, where the ENTIRE piece has an invisible barrier on it. The edges of the Colliseum wall on all canvases are not needed. This is where the invisible barrier becomes most annoying. In order to make a smooth transition to other pieces, you need to line up the invisible barrier with that piece instead of where the visual geometry is. This makes for sloppy looking transitions that LOOK like they'll be bumpy. The Geometry: Has anyone noticed the Colliseum Walls in Halo 4 are actually slightly smaller than in Reach? In Reach, they were exactly 10X12. In Halo 4, they're 10X11.8. You can imagine how annoying this becomes when using them in repetition or when trying to cover a large but specifically sized gap. Not only that, but the holes in them (as well as all the other pieces) are pretty annoying too. 343, please... DON'T SCREW UP THE COLLISEUM WALL IN HALO 5! Please!! D:

  4. <p>Hello fellow Halo 4 gamers, I'm HSG Forge PRO. I was a big Forger in Halo: Reach, and I'm trying to get back into Forging in Halo 4. But as of right now, I have <strong class="bbc"><em class="bbc"><span class="bbc_underline">THREE</span></em></strong> Beta maps <strong class="bbc">(</strong><span class="bbc_underline">more BETA maps to come</span><strong class="bbc">)</strong> that need to be tested. Now keep in mind that these maps are in <strong class="bbc"><span class="bbc_underline">BETA</span></strong> form. Which means that will be spots on the map that aren't perfect. I also need some helper(s) with my forge maps. Anyone who is a great Forger and who wants to help out, then please contact me on XBOX LIVE. My Gamer Tag is HSG Forge PRO. I am working (almost finished) on a dome-shaped map in Impact, and it occurred to me that it would be so much easier to keep people from camping out on the top of the map (the rounded roof) if object "shapes" could be defined as safe/kill zones. Think about it. This simple upgrade with the Forge would make aesthetically designed or rounded maps more practical in terms of blocking players from exploiting "holes" in the design. As a veteran Forger it can be frustrating when you come up with a unique map design but have to use multiple soft kill zones to keep players from exploiting certain areas. On a similar note it would also be nice if the "shape" tool in object editing could also be designated with other object qualities, such as teleporters ( to create false walls to hidden passages, as one example. I have plenty of other suggestions for Forge upgrades that I have mentioned in forum posts with 343i and Bungie with Reach and H3, but this idea just occurred to me the other day and I thought I would share it and see what kind of feedback it receives.   7. Hello, I have finally got a chance to play the new Spartan Ops mission and they are amazing. With that said I have clocked an insane amount of hours in forge and I feel the current forge maps are lacking a ton of aspect which the community has thoroughly covered so I'm not going to repeat them. But I did notice more than a few of the Spartan Ops maps would make amazing sandboxes for forge. Visually they trump the current forge maps both in background and foreground content. I figure now that 343's Majestic Map Pack is out and making them money maybe they would consider a free update for the forge community. I can live with the same tired forge objects even though I have seen a ton of potential new forge objects aka Forerunner pieces. But I feel there has been enough feedback about the current forge maps that 2-3 new forge maps would be feasible. The best part is the maps are already built and being used as sandboxes by 343 in Spartan Ops. Now I don't know if the coding processes for forge are easily transferred to new maps not built around the forge coding processes, but I think this Idea should be considered. I feel a move like this would revitalize the hurt forge community that was crippled by the Waypoint sharing issues and the semi disappointing maps. I would love to hear from the community on this subject and any suggestions to which maps from Spartan Ops we would like to see. My 3 choices would be: The Cauldron Control Apex

Ok it has been while and i finished one of my maps.... this one is call "power station13" it's just a name. it is a large map that can hold a full party, the map is ready for ffa and red vs blue slayer. i will have dominion soon. all other types of games will have to be brought in by all of you. please have at it. the playable area is in the station itself, i did make some things out side the map but there only for show.... there's a little star wars reference in there too. it just hit fileshare about 15 min ago. i'm taking a break from the game for a few min. please feel free to message me for anything... if u have a group that wants to run through, i will love to join just to see how people take to the map. please i would love some feed back on this. my next map is called "CQC" and it will be exactly that, dark, blind corners, half walls and drops.   11. We say that we want more maps and bigger ones, but that's all we say and 343 ends up developing the whole maps themselves. Who says the players can't make the ideas and 343 just animates and codes them in? It saves on lots of time and stress for the early stages of development, and it makes us happy too. Here are some templates: - Forest - Snow - Desert - Canyon - River - Cliffs - Earth - Sanghelios - New Mombasa theme - Other planets - Space - Indoor (building) - Indoor (ship) - Indoor (other) - Objective-related map - Open area - Narrow area - Dogfight area - Arena - Human - Forerunner - Covenant - Halos **Possible rating and/or voting if this thread goes successful. Tip: Map your idea(s) on paper - with contour lines if you're good at it. And be sure to describe your map as much as possible! Huge and small maps are welcome. I will be posting my ideas.
  12. Gamertag: hmhm70 Map: Parasite Gametype: Parasite Screenshot: Link (This screenshot doesn't do the map justice) Description: I created this map, although it says created by DDez Drol. DDez Drol makes modded maps for forge to expand the budget, which I used as a canvas, thus saying he is the creator. This is an 8-16 player flood map using the game variant Parasite. It is based off of a small town which gets less domesticated towards the flood spawn point. It is better with more players than less. The number of flood is a simple math problem. Divide the number of players by two, and subtract one. If there are an odd amount of players, round down. This map took me about 5 hours to make and I tested with friends yesterday. This is my first flood map and it turned out great. I made it as un-campable as possible and tweaked the gametype so it is fun for both flood and humans. The weapons placed on the map are shotgun, railgun, and sniper rifle. The shotgun is the most powerful although the zombies can easily overpower anyone with the shotgun. You spawn with an assault rife as humans and a magnum. There is a warthog, but the road is collapsed (jump) and there is debris all over the road making the warthog not so campable. There are lots of fun places to go on the map, and it will have you running and shooting like crazy.

  14. I don't know about you guys but Halo has been in dire need of a new forge map. I think everyone can agree that Sand Box was easily the best forge map ever created and in Halo 4 there isn't really a map with large open spaces for forging. This obviously cuts down on user maps and game types being created. Custom games is dying because of the lack of forging and creativity. But if we bring Sand Box back we can rejuvenate this creativity and have action packed custom games, just like old times in Halo 3. What do you guys think? If we are loud enough about this 343i just might listen to our calls for the return of Sand Box.

I have a new idea 343 Industries in Halo 5 it would be sweet if we the community can have more options in the multiplayer of halo 5 such as weapons armor vehicles species of the player customizable emblems like in COD black ops 2 as well as building game types from more options and have the forge more advanced and much more down below. weapons ideas: I love that you guys allowed us to choose different skins for our weapons but to be honest it was fun but it would be a lot more exciting if we can fully customize our weapons and use them in multilayer and set them into classes but to keep the halo feel of multiplayer and not the COD feel we you guys build a new system i have an idea and that is allowing us to go into a weapons builder menu and build our weapons from scratch or allow us to have the ability to combined two or more weapons together for example the sticky detonator combined with the assault rifle or the for covenant we can place an energy sword under a storm rifle to act like a bayonet and it would be so much fun if we can choose custom colors for our weapons and allow us to place our emblems on our weapons. Vehicle ideas: I have an idea for vehicles called vehicle smithing take a wort hog for example and you decide to get rid of the turret and convert into a troop transport and allow us to customize it even further like coloring it and choose from different armor plating not just for wart hogs for every vehicle. where would all this fit on in halo 5 ? a new custom firefight that is more objective based and the weapons and vehicles you customized you can call it in as ordnance not only that in fire fight we want to be able to build buildings and fortify our positions and hold them off for as long as we can. Forge ideas: forge is great but it can be better i have many ideas to share one is the option to change the weather and time of day also to allow us to spawn AI like in far cry 3 i really liked that and the AI to have options like if they are friend or foe you can choose and to color them also we really want a new forge world perhaps a bigger one than in halo reach a forge world that is an open world like we can go under water go in space also we want more vehicle options we want to be able to spawn in huge things like frigates and cruisers so we can have huge space battles and let us completely and fully operate them and we really want to be able to have the vehicles from halo wars in halo 5 and we really really would like to have the scarab to drive also we want to have more environmental options like spawning fore trees and stuff like that and please add in more air vehicles. Armor ideas: we would love to have fully customizable armor and be able to do a lot more with it and we want our choice of armor to affect gameplay like if you choose heavy armor you have more health but less speed and jump and we want new armor abilities i have an idea for one and that is a scuba gear type of ability to go under water also i really loved the armor effects from halo reach please bing them back also we want more way more armor options like different types and also it would be cool if we could build our own armor from scratch from multiple options in the game. Species ideas: when i say Species i mean like in halo reach we had the option to be spartans or elites we would love for that to come back and more options like to be a brute. gameplay ideas: we would love the idea to have the option to go into first person view in a vehicle and third person option in vehicle or on foot plus we would love more assassination types and specific ones for each species you choose to be also for kill streaks we should have more options for example you are on a seven kill streak you can call in a squad of marines to assist you and many other kill streak rewards. Specialization ideas: please add more and have more perks with them. campaign ideas: please bring back the brutes and the elites and it would be cool if we could go into the Elites and the Brutes home worlds and the graphics are great and they can be better like the cinematic movies in the halo 4 campaign. music ideas: Neal Davidge did a great job but the music it not that great for the all the action like I'm fighting the covenant and i feel i'm in an opera not a war fighting aliens breaking benjamin lights out for the halo reach trailer was awesome you guys should add more rock music for all the fighting moments and all the other music for cinematic moments and for when your not in combat.
  17. Greetings, Forgive my noobness, as I created this account for one purpose only. My 8 year old has been asking me daily to PLEASE post a suggestion for the next update to Forge. Yes, I have seen other similar questions and comments, but maybe the more people that ask will help bring attention to these issues. His ideas/questions are below: 1. Will there be an option to add objectives to Forge maps? 2. Please add AI/Enemy "spawn" points so you can pick/choose which enemies to fight on your map. (Yes, I know it's an "M" rated game, but I completed the entire Campaign and Spartan Ops with him, even War Games -voice chat disabled- and he can kick my butt and he knows it's just a game. He is lvl 53 and I'm only lvl 45 )
  18. Here's what I've been working on. It's supposed to be a 4v4 competitive map. Not sure how well it actually plays. Ghosts are able to float over the 30x30 basin in the middle of the map. They handle pretty much normally aside from the occasional mysterious "air bump." Feedback / advice is definitely appreciated. Map: The Big Rock Candy Mountain The map is named after an old song, because why-the-hell not?
  19. I feel that the halo 4 forge is some what good. But within the first 2 minutes of checking out the forge, I absolutely hated it and I will tell you why....they literally got rid of custom maps.... If you dont know what I meen by that, then I will tell you. Remember in previous forges there was one thing that made the forge worth while to spend hours and hours in for? It was the ability to change the map that you chose to something completely different. What do I meen by that? Well using the boxes and crates and the ability to suspend items in mid air to create a combat area, or even a death trap. When I went into forge in halo 4, it does have a lot of functionality which is good. But the main...and in my opinion the biggest key feature is lacking...the ability to add Large scale objects, to suspend them in midair. This causes folks to use their imagination and create something truly unique. Mazes, Race tracks, Zombie Fortresses, or simply adding a second level to walk on so that it adds an extra challenge to the map. Thats one thing that Bungie will seem to keep over 343 Ind. is that they took their own maps and created new ones using the forge, added them to the XBL map playlist and let the players decide if its worth keeping or not. How do you think grifball was invented? Exactly it was a custom forge game that if you were to try and create now...in Halo 4's forge... you would not be able to because you cannot remove large scale objects or ramps or anything of that nature... Im not the best with my words but I try to make things make sense. I seriously doubt that 343 will add this function to Halo 4, but seriously....343 Ind., You need to step it up. Ive played Halo since the original Combat Evolved title. Do not ruin this game for me.....Its a good game but when you remove the core features that players like and EXPECT, and make it a dumb newb version.....it pisses a lot of people off. And thats what Forge is right now....It used to be great, you just dumbed it down is this way. In previous Halo's that contained Forge. I would spend countless hours, just letting my mind wander on what to create. I would do all kinds of things. But with Halo 4.....I have yet to spend even 5 total minutes in there. That is the difference between Halo 4 forge, and previous forges... Post your pro's and cons of Halo 4 Forge. Maybe 343 Ind can use it to make Forge into what it is supposed to be and not a half *** "we let them control what weapons are on the map and thats it" type of forge on an unrelated Note.....wtf happened to Halo Reach hornet or the covenant vehicles that are not the ghost...one thing I liked was the balance of vehicle support.... This is Halo 4....did bungie not sell the rights of those vehicles to you?? what gives At this point I am going to place 343 Ind under the same type of practices as EA Games. Removing key functions that a lot of players enjoyed. Not thinking well enough about how to make the game....needing to install disc 2?? good one guys...one would think you could have just split up the campaign and multiplayer onto 2 different discs but no, you have to MAKE US waste hard drive space to play otherwise... I am not a designer, I am not a huge nerd who knows programming language....but My grandma and I could make a better Halo then 343 Ind....You did well on the campaign I will give your that, I really enjoyed that, otherwise its a CoD replacment with stupid loadouts and ordinence....basicly the same as CoD. Did people cry too much over getting killed while trying to go for the oversheild or camo or sniper rifle?? Were they not able to man up and get better? Guess not
  20. I haven't had access to my Xbox in weeks. Despite this setback, I have still tried to stay connected to the Forging community. Unfortunately, it looks as though it will be many moons until I will be able to Forge again.. On the bright side, I have an idea for a mini-game that will be very, very fun. It's Flood-based and should be easy to Forge. Anyone who reads this can try building this map. 1. First create a cubical box without a lid out of simple flat objects. It should be big enough to hold four edge-to-edge gravity volumes at the least. 2. Fill the box with Invisible Gravity Volumes side by side facing up. There should be two layers of volumes, the purpose of which you will soon find out! 3. Fill the box with a trait zone and set it to give players Good Camouflage and Speed Boost. The former is to dampen surrounding noise, and the latter is to make the players' screens blue. 4. Place down several Rocks with the tips slightly above the top of the gravity volumes. These are for the humans to jump around on. 5. Place down small crates set on normal physics. They should bob up and down slightly. 6. Place blue Dominion shields horizontally so that they touch the top of the gravity volumes. 7. Place the Flood spawn points on the bottom of the box, and place the human spawn points on the rocks/crates. The Flood will have a dynamic experience on this map. Submerged beneath the shields, they will hear things differently, and their screens will be blue. The humans will struggle to survive on the surface as the shark-like Flood shoot out of the water--like sharks. So you see the theme of the map now? There might be some technical flaws in my directions; you might want to switch the blue dominion shields with normal shield doors, but that would be very expensive and punish the humans for accidentally walking off spawn. Good luck creating the map!
  21. I really hope I'm just getting the wrong impression, but right now, forge mode looks pretty bad. There is no massive "Forge World" like in Halo: Reach. There are only 3 maps that are very small (in comparison to Forge World). While I get that some people might like small maps, it seems like it's going to be impossible to build the massive cities and racing maps that you could build in Halo: Reach. Someone please tell me I'm missing something because forge is possibly my favorite mode and it only seems to have regressed from Halo: Reach.

Although it supports 4v4, id suggest something to make it less hectic like 3 lives per round, 5 rounds. for Objective of Slayer (adding a new tactic to win not unlike CounterStrike). Its made so that the BR cant shoot across the whole map. It forces team work, and power weapon control. PW control is high risk, high reward due to the rockets being in the middle exposed to the whole map, but they are rockets The DMR is a power weapon on this map because aim assist is still active cross map. This is meant for competitive settings, however normal settings would work. I like this map because it is really simple, yet it has a lot of little details, and a huge amount of jump ups and trick jumps.

In my personal opinion I think it could be possible that they would give us a forge world spin off of some sort. They have been very responsive to the community about a lot of other very specific aspects. In particular this image Picture By: Halo Waypoint This looks like Montana and Alaska from forge world but if you look closely it looks redefined in a Halo 4 sort of way. And in reach new forge environment became available with some DLC as well. Could this be 343 hinting at a new forge world in the upcoming DLC? Leave your thoughts in the comments below
