  1. Microsoft cutting prices on all of it's xbox 360 bundles for the holiday season. Read below for more details Source: Gameinformer.com All of Microsoft's Xbox 360 holiday bundles have received a $50 price cut, presumably because of the impending holiday season. It's unclear if this is a temporary price-cut, or a permanent one. Assuming that a new Microsoft console is on the horizon, I'd be surprised if the prices on these bundles went back up after the December. No Xbox 360 price cut this year, says Microsoft UK View full article

  6. You can now migrate your Xbox Live account to another country. Read below for more details Source: Xbox360achievements.org Once upon a time, if you were moving country, you'd have to get rid of your existing Xbox Live account and start from scratch. But it looks like that might now be a thing of the past, as Microsoft has now opened up the ability to migrate your Xbox Live profile to another XBL region, albeit with a few caveats. These stipulations, or "consequences" are detailed below, and include the possible inability to re-download content and the cancellation of your Xbox Live Gold subscription. Here's the list of consequences listed by Microsoft, via WM Power User: Microsoft is now apparently accepting migration requests, although it is a manual process that can take up to six weeks. Still, it's better than losing all of those hard-earned cheevos, right? [Via VG247]
  7. Halo 4 Progression System The UNSC Infinity is your gateway to the Infinity Multiplayer experience in Halo 4 and serves as the center of your Spartan career. Here you will build your custom Spartan-IV super-soldier, and progress your multiplayer career across both Spartan Ops and War Games modes. You’ll start your career as a Spartan-IV, with a limited amount of choices. As you level up, that will slowly unfold into a large amount of choices. The pace with unlocks will be regular, but not so fast that it causes confusion. When designing the progression system for Halo 4, our primary goal was to give progress more meaning, and in order to do that, the player’s progress has to impact gameplay. In Halo 4, we primarily do this by allowing the progression system to modify the weapons and abilities the player can take into battle, empowering player choice, and exposing more elements of the sandbox to more players. As you progress through your multiplayer career, you unlock items that allow you to build the character and experience you want. The things you really desire, such as the Battle Rifle and DMR, you’ll gain access to fairly quickly. Some of the more difficult choices you’ll face, such as which Specialization to tackle first, come later. All of these things give you the ability to tailor your experience and focus on your favorite parts of the sandbox more than ever before. How quickly you progress through your career will partly depend on your skill. Skilled players will rank up faster, as you get more XP for winning matches. It’s also worth noting that quitters do not get game completion XP. They can progress commendations and challenges, but they will not get partial XP at the end of the game (AHEM). Below is a breakdown of the Halo 4 progression system. FROM: CODENAME SURGEON TO: CODENAME COALMINER Spartan-IV Career When you first enter Infinity Multiplayer, you automatically enlist into the SPARTAN-IV program and begin your Spartan career. This career spans all of your gameplay in War Games, Spartan Ops, Forge and Theater. New SPARTAN-IV recruits are issued the following gear: • Assault Rifle • Magnum • Frag Grenade • Recruit Armor, Emblem, Visor and Stance Stances are a new customization option that let you select a pose for your Spartan on your Player Card. This card is seen in every multiplayer lobby in the game and is how your Spartan is identified outside of gameplay. You will have to rise up through the Spartan ranks to unlock more gear and make your way through the SPARTAN-IV program. CLASSIFICATION: ELEVENTH HOUR [1/5] SUBJECT: AFTERMATH Spartan-IV Ranks Spartans begin their career in the base SPARTAN-IV ranks. There are 50 ranks to work your way through, from SR-1 to SR-50, unlocking gameplay and visual customization items as you rank up. To rank up, you need to earn XP. You earn XP by: • Playing War Games (earn more for winning and high personal score) • Playing Spartan Ops (earn more for higher difficulties) • Completing each level of a Commendation • Completing Challenges • Using Forge At each rank, you will earn one or more Spartan Points (SP). SP are used to purchase gameplay items for your personal loadouts. Once you purchase an item, it can be used in any of your loadouts. The Spartan Point system is based around offering choice at each rank. The full suite of gameplay items is available for purchase by SR-26 but you won’t have enough SP to buy everything until SR-50. It’s up to you to decide the order in which you want to build up the arsenal for your Spartan-IV. /FILE EXTRACTION-RECONSTITUTION COMPLETE/ /START FILE/ Loadouts Each loadout contains a Primary Weapon, Secondary Weapon, Grenade, Armor Ability, Tactical Package and Support Upgrade. As you rank up, you will gain access to the Armor Ability slot (SR-3), the Tactical Package slot (SR-7), and the Support Upgrade slot (SR-12). We have default loadouts in our War Games playlists to give you a preview of these items before you reach those ranks, and to offer an alternative to your own custom loadouts. Over the course of the SPARTAN-IV ranks, you also unlock four extra loadouts (at SR-6, SR-14, SR-26 and SR-41) for a total of five loadouts. You can rename these loadouts, so pick names that match the role or gear for that particular loadout. Decades from now, when historians evaluate the war, what will they say about us? Will they claim that our victory was ultimately fruitless? That it failed to secure a lasting peace, or worse, that it was only a prelude to far greater horrors that now lay ahead? Visual Customization All Spartan-IVs start out with the same Recruit look. As you rank up, this is reflected in the look of your Spartan, which is visible to other players in gameplay and every Multiplayer lobby. Visual customization items such as Armor, Armor Skins, Weapon Skins, Visors, Emblems and Stances are unlocked through several means: • Earning a specific SR rank • Earning a specific rank in a Specialization • Mastering a Commendation • Completing a Waypoint goal When you meet the prerequisite, you will gain access to the items automatically; you do not need to spend Spartan Points. My hope – OUR HOPE – is that history would instead view this war as a catalyst. That the last thirty years were a crucible, a threshing floor for our species, sifting out our fears and frailties. And that ultimately it made us stronger and more vigilant in the end, fully prepared for whatever will come next. After all, what good is struggle if there is no change? What good is a fire if the sword is not made stronger? Specializations Once you hit SR-50, you have the option to enlist in a new Specialization. You can choose which of the available Specializations to enlist in. Specializations are composed of ten levels each. As you rank up in Specializations, you will unlock new armor sets, emblems, visor colors, armor and weapon skins and armor mods – which provide even more options to customize your Spartan-IV to fit your preferred role on the battlefield. Once you commit to a Specialization, you have to complete it before switching to a new one. It will take roughly as long to complete a Specialization as it does to go from SR-40 to SR-50. All players have access to two Specializations at launch: • Wetwork: WK-1 to WK-10 • Operator: OP-1 to OP-10 The rest, which are listed below, will gradually be made available in the months following launch. We will be keeping a close watch on player participation post-launch and will roll out the additional six Specializations when the player base reaches certain milestones. Purchasers of the Limited Edition and pre-orders in certain territories have launch day access to the remaining six Specializations – although you still need to complete the initial 50 Ranks before you can enlist in one. • Pioneer: PR-1 to PR-10 • Pathfinder: PT-1 to PT-10 • Engineer: EN-1 to EN-10 • Stalker: SK-1 to SK-10 • Rogue: RG-1 to RG-10 • Tracker: TK-1 to TK-10 Other players will be able to see your overall progress through the Specializations by your SR rank. This keeps going up by one each time you earn a Specialization rank, all the way up to SR-130. There might be a reward or two waiting for those who hit SR-130! Attached are four reports accounting the major contingency structures our species currently faces in the wake of the war. Please evaluate them closely. Their outcomes will dictate how history views us, or if history even views us at all. Commendations Halo 4 features over 120 commendations covering a wide variety of activities (per weapon, per enemy type and per game type, for example). There are commendations based around earning specific medals, and we also have aggregators that require you to master multiple commendations to complete them. Commendations also have a variable number of levels. Certain Commendations can award visual customization items when you master them. To master a Commendation, you need to have earned its highest level. We see the Commendation system as the long-term progression with the most exclusive items. Most players will still be mastering Commendations well after completing the Specializations. Xenomorphic element [2/5] Martial element [3/5] Provenancial element [4/5] Primogeniture element [5/5] Challenges Like Commendations, Challenges have been expanded in Halo 4. We not only have daily content, but also a weekly and monthly cadence as well, giving players ample time to complete different challenges with varying levels of difficulty. Challenges are divided into four categories: • Campaign - 2 Weekly Challenges • War Games - 2 Daily Challenges - 2 Weekly Challenges - 1 Monthly Challenge • Spartan Ops - 6 Challenges • Waypoint - Exclusive daily challenges for War Games If you’re looking to get a jump start on your career, you’ll definitely want to stick around for the next segment of the Bulletin, because it’s about to get all double XP up in here. 14. Could Halo and Call of Duty one day be made under the same roof? Reuters reports that Vivendi has enlisted the help of a bank to speak with potential buyers for Activision Blizzard, and the list includes Microsoft, Time Warner, Tencent, and a group of private equity firms. Call of Chief: Master Warfare? "It's nothing official yet, but they've asked a bank to go and talk to possible buyers for Activision," a source close to Vivendi's board told the news agency. Vivendi presently owns a 60 percent stake in Activision Blizzard, and stands to raise close to $10 billion by offloading the company, the sources said. While Microsoft has the capital to purchase Activision Blizzard, the source told Reuters the Seattle technology giant is currently focused on building its next-generation Xbox. "They probably don't want to distract themselves too much, but they are the ones who, if they want to stay in games, would think about owning some of these big franchises, not just providing the consoles," the source said. As for Tencent, earlier this month, Activision Blizzard announced a deal with the Chinese company to bring Call of Duty: Online to China as a free-to-play game. However, a banker speaking to Reuters believes Tencent taking full ownership of Activision Blizzard would be a "big step" because of the companies' varying business models. "[Activision Blizzard] have two big franchises, Call of Duty on the console side and World of WarCraft on the MMOG (massively multiplayer online game) side. And China is not a big market for console businesses; online games are much bigger for various reasons," said the unnamed banker. A Microsoft representative told GameSpot, “Microsoft does not comment on rumors or speculation.” Despite Activision Blizzard's success with the Call of Duty series and World of Warcraft, Wedbush analyst Michael Pachter suggested in June that Vivendi might not have many suitors for the game maker. "The problem is there are no readily apparent buyers for Activision," Pachter said at the time. "The only option left to Vivendi is to lever up Activision's balance sheet and pay out all of its cash as a dividend, then spin the company off." [uPDATE] Pachter continues to hold this belief, telling GameSpot this morning that none of the above-mentioned companies are in a position to acquire Activision Blizzard. "None of those make sense," he said. "TenCent is the only one actively acquiring, and they make much smaller acquisitions. Time Warner has never spent more than $150 million on game investments. Microsoft would lose a lot of value if Call of Duty was Xbox only. None of these are buyers." It first came out that Vivendi was looking to offload Activision Blizzard in June, when a Bloomberg report stated Vivendi's board was planning to meet to discuss selling its majority stake in the game maker. Later that month, Vivendi CEO Jean-Bernard Levy was ousted for butting heads with the board regarding the firm's restructuring plans. And a new report suggested if a single buyer could not be found, the company would look to unload its shares on the open market. Article @ Gamespot.com http://www.gamespot....-report-6386412

  17. FOUND AT EGMNOW Microsoft is looking for a graphics developer to work on the “next generation of game visuals in the Halo universe,” at 343 Industries. The job ad on Microsoft’s careers site reads: “Microsoft Studios 343 Industries is looking for an experienced graphics developer to help create the current and next generation of game visuals in the Halo universe. Work on one of the most exciting and creative properties in the industry; Work with the incredible 343 team to help drive the future of Halo.” The ad also mentions that DirectX 11 experience is a plus, and considering that the Xbox 360 doesn’t support it, that tends to suggest a next-generation title. Unless the next Halo is also being developed for PC, which is unlikely. We already know that two more Halo games are planned in 343′s new series, and it appears that Halo 5 will be on Microsoft’s next-generation console, according to this advert. View full article
  18. While discussing new Outlook email service, Microsoft general manager Brian Hall namedrops "new Xbox" but does not share more. After significant speculation spread over the span of years, Microsoft has finally spoken on-record about its next Xbox. During an interview with The Verge focused on Microsoft's new Outlook email service (embedded below), general manager Brian Hall name-dropped a "new Xbox." “We’ve had Hotmail and operated Hotmail for about 16 years, we obviously have Exchange, and Outlook, that people use at work. We just decided it was time to do something new and bring the best from each of those and put them together and release it right in time for the new wave of products that we could have coming out with Windows 8, with the new version of Office with the new Windows phone and the new Xbox,” Hall said. Hall did not share further details on the next Xbox. Windows 8 will launch on October 26 alongside Microsoft's new Surface tablet line. [uPDATE] Following the publication of this story, Microsoft issued a statement to GameSpot on the matter. “Xbox 360 has found new ways to extend the console lifecycle by introducing controller-free experiences with Kinect and re-inventing the console with a new dashboard and new entertainment content partnerships," reads a line from the statement. "We are always thinking about what is next for our platform and how to continue to defy the lifecycle convention.” The analyst consensus is that the next Xbox, as well as the PlayStation 4, will be on store shelves for holiday 2013. A recent 56-page document supposedly originating from Microsoft said the next Xbox would launch in 2013 at $299 bundled with the second iteration of Kinect, among other updates. As for the PS4, PlayStation executive Andrew House said in June that Sony's new console would not be shown until a "significant leap" over the PlayStation 3 could be demonstrated. 19. Two new free titles are coming to Xbox live. They wont be part of the silver service of Xbox live and wont be a cost to Xbox Gold subscribers. Read below for more details From: http://www.computera...m/homepage.php? By: Tom Ivan Microsoft has taken its time to introduce free-to-play gaming on Xbox 360, but that's soon to change. The platform holder plans to publish Japanese studio Toylogic's online brawler Happy Wars as its first free-to-play game later this year, followed by action-RPG Ascend: New Gods from Toy Soldiers maker Signal Studios. Both will be available free of charge to Xbox Live Gold subscribers, but they'll "leverage the Microsoft Points system" through microtransactions. "We're always looking at ways to push the boundaries of the console and our digital platform," a Microsoft spokesperson told our friends at OXM. "Bringing true free-to-play gaming experiences to Xbox 360 is a natural extension of that. "With the ongoing success of the model on PC, and the interest from both our consumers and our partners looking to explore this system on console, it simply made sense to deliver this experience through great games that would take advantage of it. "In this pilot program, Microsoft Studios will support free-to-play gaming with Happy Wars, due out in September, as well as the recently announced game Ascend: New Gods which will ship in several months. "The free-to-play model and games experiences will be available to all Xbox Live Gold subscribers, as many of the games planned will be multiplayer games by nature (an Xbox LIVE Gold subscription is required for multiplayer gaming). The games that use the free-to-play mechanic will leverage the Microsoft Points system." Sony was quicker than Microsoft to embrace the free-to-play model on consoles, having released the likes of Free Realms and DC Universe Online on PS3 last year. John Smedley, CEO of Sony Online Entertainment, which developed both titles, said last month: "Free-to-play on PS3 is huge. In fact, right now, it's us with DCUO and Free Realms and our friends at CCP with Dust 514 that are going to prove that this market really works."
  20. My personal opinion is that Halo should never leave XBOX and XBOX should never share Halo with any other console. I'd like to hear your opinion.

The new logo switches up the font and slaps the iconic 'Windows' logo on the left, adding a bit of colour to it but also, more significantly, representing Microsoft's new efforts to unify all its platforms with the squares seen on Xbox, Windows Phone and soon the Windows 8 Metro platforms. MS says the logo switch comes "in advance of one of the most significant waves of product launches in Microsoft's history". "It's been 25 years since we've updated the Microsoft logo and now is the perfect time for a change," it adds. "This is an incredibly exciting year for Microsoft as we prepare to release new versions of nearly all of our products. From Windows 8 to Windows Phone 8 to Xbox services to the next version of Office, you will see a common look and feel across these products providing a familiar and seamless experience on PCs, phones, tablets and TVs." If logos excite you, here's a trailer all about the change.
  23. Hey, We're making a machinima series and while we have a lot of ideas about the direction of the season (and beyond), we at Superior Masters Productions were wondering if anyone had suggestions for what they'd like to see in a machinima. Our series is called Chimera Team Alpha and is a comedy adventure series following the post-war exploits of a Spartan-Elite team, usually exploring the mysterious Forge World. Our most recent episode (Episode 2: Point of View) can be found on our channel here: Our first episode (Episode 1: A Hard Place) can be found on the 343icommunity channel here: (Admittedly, Episode 2 is better and probably is the best one to see first.) Thanks, x Master Rob x
  24. So real quick, I just want to say this. I routinely check Halo Waypoint every other day to see the bulletins/updates. Now they usually always start popping up around 1:30-2:00 for me (eastern time). But for some reason this today, they haven't. I mean come on, its almost 5:00. Is 343i maybe waiting to post a Major Update? Who nows, just a reason and a theory to help us wait and see if there is going to be any info..
  25. So which are you more excited to see? Bungie's new game, or what 343 Industries will do with the new Halo trilogy? Discuss who you think will do a better job with their games, how you think they'll approach incorperationg certain things into their games, or who will do a better job. Post what you think below! God bless you, -@RANMAN10
