  1. The Director's Lesser Known Games Volume 9 Mount & Blade: Warband Console Edition Rating: 9/10 Type of Game: Role Play Game with Multiplayer Platform: Xbox One, Playstation 4 Synopsis: Mount & Blade Warband takes you into the war torn land of Calderia. What you do once you get there is up to you. Will you be a bandit, robbing caravans and villagers while running from the law? Will you be a merchant, hiring mercenaries to defend you from bandits as you sell goods from town to town? How about a lord, loyally serving your chosen king and helping him (or her) become Emperor? Or would you rather become the emperor by taking over the entire realm? You can do all this and more if you feel like it. Pros: There are a ton of great things about this game. The graphics have improved upon the original release, the controls are a bit more fluid than mouse/keyboard, and there are fewer bugs. For those of you who aren't familiar with the original release, here's the great stuff about that! Combat - The combat in this game is set in third person (but you can go to first person if you'd like) and features melee, ranged, and cavalry attacks. That's right, you can fight on a horse. Or you can fight a horse on a horse. Or you can fight a horse while on the ground with just your hands. Weapons/armor - The weapons in this game are varied. There are multiple types of melee weapons with different effects (like bonuses against armor or shields), multiple types of shields, multiple armors, etc. This game has the most varied arsenal I've personally ever seen. The weapons range from swords to lances, from arrows to javelins, the list goes on. You can equip up to 4 different types of weapons (3 if you equip a shield). Oh? You're wondering about the lances? That's right, you can act like a knight and joust people. Awesome, right? Horses - They have several different types of horses in this game that are suited for different play-styles. You plan on being that guy who charges head on into the enemy on your horse? Get yourself an armored one. Are you more interested in speed? Grab yourself a fast one. You want a fast horse that can take some hits? They've got that too! They also have slow, weak horses for those of you who are a bit cheap. Map Movement - The map movement is similar to how you move troops in strategy games. It's eagle view, and you click to travel. When you get to your destination, the game pauses automatically so time doesn't pass while you are deciding where to go next. Worried about not finding anyone to fight with? Don't be. There are raiders and such wandering around the map looking for fools to take their gold. Worried about fighting too much? Get a large enough amount of troops with you and they will flee in terror before your might. Skills - Nearly everything in the game is based on what skills you have (and don't have). From combat to movement speed on the world map, I'm not exaggerating when I say that if you can do it (except cheat) then there is a skill for it. Locations and Characters - They appear one dimensional at first glance but if you pay any sort of attention things get pretty deep pretty fast. The locations are similar yet unique and vary by type. Each separate kingdom has its own design for its villages and towns. Last but not least, the price. This game (as of this review) is only 19.99 USD + tax and has more content than your average AAA 60 buck game. Like, a lot more content. Just one playthrough can take you weeks, months, even years depending on your play style. That doesn't even take into account replayability. Cons: Not many of these, but gotta be fair here. The graphics, while improved, aren't great. The learning curve for this game is pretty steep, and a few stops to the wiki are pretty much guaranteed. The controls are fluid but not very intuitive. For instance, the directional indicator is not an aiming reticle but it makes you feel as if it is one. Aim with the blade, young padawan. There also isn't much voice acting, but that's probably due to it being a budget game. Indie for the windie. Summation: Right now this game is pretty cheap, and it has a ton of content to offer. If you've got a lot of free time and are looking for a way to pass that time try it out.
  2. Halo 5 Limited Edition Console and Controllers With the game Halo 5: Guardians rapidly approaching launch date, we get a few treats along with it. A limited edition console and limited edition controllers. Just like last time with Halo 4 we'll be able to get a console bundle. It will contain a limited edition 1TB console that has a cool Halo 5 theme and custom sounds for starting up, shutting down and ejecting/inserting the disc. It will also come, just like the Halo 4 bundle, with a Halo 5 themed controller. This time it's only 1 controller though. Well, we couldn't do splitscreen anyway... What's different from last time is that the console bundle will now include the Halo 5: Guardians Limited edition package so the true collectors won't miss out on most of the collectables. As an added bonus you'll also get acces to the FOTUS armor from the get go and have an exclusive FOTUS emblem to show off. Take a look at the 3D model yourself here. The bundle will cost $499. If you already have a console and are happy with the way it is you can always think about getting one of the two Limited edition controllers. Or get both! The first one is the Spartan Locke controller and is the one you'll get with the console bundle. It will also come with the Resolute visor acces from day one. This controller will cost you $69,99. The second controller is the Master Chief controller. This controller will include day one acces to the Dauntless visor and will also cost $69,99. Let me assure you that as of now all of the DLC content you get with these items except for the FOTUS emblem have been confirmed to be available to everyone through the REQ pack system. These acces codes, just like the pre order codes, only assure you of day one acces! Will you be getting any of these items? Let us know down below! Thank you for reading! 4. Some details have been revealed about a console Valve is creating codenamed "Piston", not much has been revealed about Valve's latest project just yet but early spec and details have been revealed at CES yesterday. Read below for more info. Article and Images from Polygon. Xi3 brought an early version of Piston to CES, but was tight lipped on details about the hardware currently in development with Valve. Xi3 chief marketing officer David Politis told Polygon that Piston will offer up to 1 TB of interal storage and offer modular component updates, including the option to upgrade the PC's CPU and RAM. Xi3 wouldn't discuss price for Piston, but commented that the Steam Box is based on its "performance level" X7A offering, which is priced at $999. Xi3 declined to comment on what would differentiate Piston hardware-wise from a standard X7A. Xi3 also offers the entry level X5A, which is priced at $499 with a Linux operating system. The demo unit of Piston featured an IO board boasting one ethernet port, 1/8" audio in/out, SPDIF optical audio, four USB 3.0 ports, four USB 2.0 ports (with one dedicated to keyboard input), four eSATAp ports, two Mini Display Port ports and one DisplayPort/HDMI port.
  5. Will anyone be getting the Xbox One specifically for Halo? Amazon has only sold out 25K units for the X1, sounds a little low to me.

  8. Source-XBOX Our own Major Nelson has created a special surprise and we couldn’t be more pumped to share this video with you. It’s kind of like opening that Christmas gift you’ve been eyeing under the tree, or the birthday surprise you’ve been awaiting. That’s right – we present to you – the unboxing of Xbox One. While working on this video, we uncovered several cool facts about Xbox One and the components that ship in the box. Below are my top favorites…make sure you keep reading below for other insider details from Albert Penello, our director of product planning for Xbox One. In the video, we are unveiling the Xbox One Day One edition – which includes a special Day One package, specially branded DAY ONE 2013 controller with chrome D-pad, and a Day One digital achievement. This will be available in limited quantities. The Xbox One console, Kinect sensor – even the HDMI cable and the power supply - have a “liquid black” finish, with a focus on a consistent 16:9 design ratio across all components. This attention to detail was intentional and a great example of how every component in the box was especially designed for Xbox One. You can hear more about our attention to design details from our design team here. The Xbox One console is state of the art - a 500GB hard drive, slot load Blu-ray drive, IR blaster port, HDMI input and output connectors, a S/PDIF interface, new Kinect sensor port, three USB 3.0 Super Speed ports, Wired and Wireless network support and a Kensington Security Slot. Of course, what’s most important is what the console can do – if you haven’t checked out the latest product details on Xbox.com, you should. The all new Kinect has improved gesture and voice control, 1080p color HD camera for video with Skype and a greater field of view. On-board sensors improve fidelity of the depth-sensing and low-light visibility, along with a four microphone array and IR blasting capability. The Xbox One controller offers over 40 design improvements, including a redesigned D-pad for accuracy, redesigned thumb sticks for better grip and control, new menu and view buttons, redesigned triggers and bumpers for accuracy and comfort, as well as exclusive impulse triggers for haptic feedback. The new integrated battery compartment on the Xbox One controller blends seamlessly into the back, offering better comfort. You can play wirelessly with standard AA or rechargeable AA batteries, or via the standard micro USB port for wired gameplay. The micro USB cable will charge the batteries if you are using the Xbox One Play & Charge Kit (it will not charge generic rechargeable AA batteries). The chat on Xbox One offers 3x the sampling rate of the Xbox 360. The quality of the Xbox One Chat Headset speaker and microphone have been upgraded to take advantage of the much improved audio quality. It’s also super lightweight-only 44g-with a padded earpiece that can be worn on either your left or right ear, and a bendable, rotating mic boom. You can control mute and volume without taking your hands off the controller. Of course, a HDMI cable, a power supply and a Quick Start Guide are included as well. Here’s a few other insider details – straight from Albert Penello, our director of product planning for Xbox One: When we say 4K HDMI cable, we mean it. The HDMI cable we’re including is an actual Category 2 HDMI cable, rated for 1080P, 3D and 4K, according to the HDMI 1.4 spec. The built-in wireless on Xbox 360 just supported single-band A/B/G/N @ 2.4ghz. The Xbox One wireless radio is A/B/G/N, but supports dual-band 2.4ghz and 5ghz frequencies. The console shown in the video is one of the first production units – less than 20 exist in the world (and yes, this box has the 853mhz GPU). When you plug a micro-USB cable into the controller for wired gameplay, the internal radio is actually shut off, transmitting data through the wire. You can even use the controller without batteries in this mode. This post has been promoted to an article
  9. I, personally, think PC gaming is way better than console gaming, even though I play consoles, mostly. The reason I think Pc is better is because of mods, add ons, and playing with larger servers. The graphics on a PC are also better than most console games.
  10. We have had quite a few names for the new xbox, durango, infinity, 720 (well that was fan made) and just xbox. A recent report tells that Infinity has been the chosen name for the next gen xbox. Microsoft themselves has not confirmed this name as of yet but it is believed that Infinity will be the name that will success the 360. This article is from GameSpot Thanks to Smokin Shadowz for bringing this article over. The next Microsoft console will be named Xbox Infinity, according to a report by the UK arm of the International Business Times. Unnamed sources, who are believed to be involved in the development of the new console, confirmed to the publication that the new hardware will simply be called Xbox Infinity. These claims mirror those of a reportedly leaked image, which recently appeared on the Reddit website. IBTimes UK sources also revealed that development units have already been made available to software developer partners. Previous rumours suggested that some of Microsoft's next-generation titles may have been cancelled, while others may be as much as six months behind schedule. Microsoft is expected to officially unveil its next home console to the public at its event on May 21. Rumours have circulated for months regarding the branding that the Redmond, Washington, software giant will elect to use for the Xbox 360's successor, with Xbox 720, the Next Xbox, and the device's development codename, Durango all being used in lieu of any official moniker. GameSpot contacted Microsoft seeking clarification, but a spokesperson declined, saying, "We do not comment on rumours or speculation. We are always thinking about what is next for our platform, but we don't have anything further to share at this time."

  12. So, from what I understand, I was to receive Fotus Armour from my Halo 4 Console Disc. However, I don't have the Armour in my selection, I've tried everything. I'm really getting upset about this. I know it's a bit silly but I payed for it and I should have it. I have the SN of my console and the game case. What can be done to fix this?
  13. Next Xbox coming by 2013 Holiday season courtesy of Plugged-in by Chris Morris Full article link >>> http://games.yahoo.c...-191606695.html image courtesy of CVG Enjoy that time as the only next-generation console on the market, Wii U. The competition is coming sooner than you might think. Bloomberg reports Microsoft will release its next generation Xbox in time for the 2013 holidays. While the date has been widely expected, the news service says unnamed company insiders have now confirmed the time period. There are still plenty of questions about the reveal, though. One of the biggest is whether Microsoft will wait until the E3 trade show in June to debut the Xbox 720 (or Xbox 8, or Durango, or whatever they decide to call it), though the company is said to be considering a separate event dedicated solely to the system's reveal. Rumors about the tech specs of the next system are everywhere. Most recently, Xbox World reported that it will boast an improved version of Kinect, a Blu-ray drive, and a new controller with an embedded HD touchscreen. Microsoft, not surprisingly, declined to comment on the story. Part of the reason for that 'no comment' is the company's long-standing refusal to discuss rumor and speculation. The other is that it doesn't want to distract anyone from the Xbox 360 this year. It's a strategy that's working so far. During Black Friday week, Microsoft beat out the competition by selling 750,000 Xbox 360 consoles. Halo 4, which many speculate is the swan song for the Xbox 360 as far as original AAA titles go, is also selling well. Bloomberg's story did not, however, make mention of the streamlined "Xbox TV" device that has been making the rumor rounds lately. The Verge reported late last week that Microsoft was planning a set-top box device that would provide access to core entertainment services as well as casual gaming options at a lower price than its next gen console. That device, reportedly, is meant to compete with Apple TV. image courtesy of CVG

  15. I purchased the Halo 4 LE XBox, which obviously came with the War Games Map Pass. I had no issues downloading the Map pass or Crimson Map Pack, and I have been playing them since. Until today, wherein the matchmaking screen tells me that the recommended content is not available, and I cannot play Crimson. I have checked my storage settings to verify and yes, both items are snug and uncorrupted on my hard drive. Even after restarting the console, the maps are not available, and whether through the console or in-game XBox Live Marketplaces, I am expected to dish out a few thousand extra points to play what I already payed $400 for. Soooo.......
  16. I bought the limited edition console and didn't get the code for Fotus. I looked through everything and there's nothing. Someone help
  17. So the collectible console doesn’t get all the specializations like the limited edition? All the console comes with is collectable controllers, console with special sound effects, and a code to unlock FOTUS armor. Why don't the people who buy the most expensive version of the game get everything?
