  1. People need to stop being so attached to the battle rifle. No one seems to be able to handle the fact that there are better weapons out there, like the DMR. If one weapon is clearly better in most combat situations, its obvious that you should learn how to use it regularly. Yes, you would think that the DMR and battle rifle would be balanced, but its been determined that one is dominant. having 2 UNSC mid range weapons in a game is unusual for us, but its like we're back to only having one now. It's time to move on then. Living in the past will only make halo a negative experience for you. you can't stop change from happening, and trying to fight it will probably make things worse. I am not against the battle rifle being made more effective, but making it a 4 shot kill will make it overpowered. Then the DMR will become useless, and the argument will just repeat itself again.
  2. I found this very hard to follow when reading it. from what I understood, this sounds nothing like firefight mode. This gametype that you are describing sounds like it would be an entirely different game out of all honesty. This had elements of an mmo game, so I would recommend that you get destiny when it is released. Anyways, firefight is about trying to fight off waves of enemies in a small squad. You can't have "teams" that can do whatever they feel like to other teams while trying to fight off waves of AI enemies at the same time also, having 4 players do a Co op mission in Spartan ops with AI enemies had caused countless lag problems. imagine having 30 players trying to connect over xbl and having AI enemies at the same time....
  3. I find that really funny, but i do not mean to offend your opinion. I've been trying to get assualt rifle and magnum kills to get UNSC loadout mastery, and BTB has been my go-to gametype. 2/3 of the time i am the leading scorer on my team using an assualt rifle and magnum. You just need to know how to use certain areas of the map to your advantage when playing with this weapon. I tend to stick to enclosed areas on maps, but i frequently pop out and use the magnum for successful mid range kills
  4. i thought the entire crew from halo wars was MIA, but i may be wrong. the covenant probably have studied the flood while under containment in the halo installations, until it was later released
  5. sounds cool to have a squad of drones protecting you, but it just can't happen. First off, war games is a training simulator for Spartan IVs. There is no way that covenant drones would ever be assisting a Spartan in the field. Secondly, this just seems to be an amped up version of the autosentry. The only differences being that there are 3 and they follow you. Ordinance is meant to provide you with weaponry that will give you an advantage over your opponent's standard weapons, not as a support tool. I do feel bad shooting down this idea, but i'm just trying to be realistic
  6. I do like the creativity in this idea, but it will only encourage camping if the scoring is based off of life span. players will just find a secluded area and stay put as long as possible.
  7. That is what I call a story! This sounds like a classic halo plot, because it puts the UNSC and its allies at a disadvantage throughout the sequence of events. I love how you were able to incorporate the arbiter, the Didact, and the prometheans back into the campaign. It is very unlikely that prometheans would be on a halo installation though, and think they are extinct with the total destruction of requiem. otherwise the story seems phenomenal! This will allow for some great drama and intense action that somewhat lacked in halo 4. hopefully a better soundtrack too. I guess we will just have to wait to see what occurs in the second season of Spartan ops
  8. You sir, have got my attention here! I've always thought that it was really weird how Hunters were made up of a bunch of worms that work in unison. But honestly, I have never questioned it much farther than that. It would certainly be interesting to learn how they grow and develop, reproduce, communicate with other species, and develop their own technology Bacon shelf made a great point. I do remember reading that scarabs have been rumored to be organic. They do seem extremely mechanical, but who knows what is underneath that immensely thick armor?? The harvesters, though, seem to resemble an organic organism much more. it looks as if it had its own distinct facial features, so I question it being of the same worms as a hunter
  9. I would actually love to see this. The star wars battlefront games are what I grew up playing on my old ps2. I give that game credit for teaching me how to use two joysticks at the same time. I actually tried making a thread once about a star wars battlefront III. I had so many ideas to modernize that game and create a very successful shooter..... But my internet crashed and I lost everything in the post
  10. The mantis is mainly used as a support vehicle. The machine gun lacks accuracy at range and the rockets require reloads in between bursts of fire. if a driver simply uses it for an offensive push, it is likely that the vehicle will go down in a minute or so. it had pt itself in an easy position to be shot with an EMP and become hijacked. When I drive, I usually allow my infantry teammates to create "front line" ahead of me. That gives me protection from enemies that may try to board my mantis, while I provide covering for my teammates. I usually find myself getting a mere killing spree with 10-15 assists while lasting half of the game. I choose to be a team player if I have use of the mantis, instead of making costly decisions trying to rack up kills for myself
  11. The X has always been a very strategic feature in past halo games. It can be used to identify enemies that may be weak from a prior engagement in which they just killed your teammate. It can also be used as a callout for other teammates such as saying "on my x!". I do think that the x feature in halo 4 is hard to identify. It seems unclear and unnatural when spotting one, and it is hard clearly identify them
  12. My apologies. I happened post about the wrong subject here, please excuse my mistake and disregard this post
  13. Wow! I didn't know that this thread was even here! Thanks so much all of you for the compliments. Be sure to check out my MoM thread in the general discussion if you want to learn a little about me
  14. Indeed, this is no average monday. It happens to be my last day of spring break, so i'm just doing the homework that i put off a week ago. Just got back from my lacrosse practice, decided to check my phone and scroll through the twitter feed, nothing new... Then i decide to check the forums.... I got 2 PMs in the inbox. That is not usual for a guy like me. Suddenly, i find out that i'm the MoM! I cant put it into words the way i feel at this moment. It is such an honor to have earned this respectable title from the the community. I learned i was voted for this title unanimously, which makes me feels highly respected. I still dont know who does those votes, but i thank any of you who did. March 9th was actually my 1 year anniversary of joining the forums, and being a MoM is a postion that i have always coveted. I will admit that i have gotten frustrated at times, feeling as if my dedication here was meaningless. As if my effort that i put into my posts went unoticed by the larger portion of the community. I even wasnt familiar with the MoMs that were being selected. But i made earning this title my new goal, and decided to fight the emotions that battled for my attention. And here i am now.... I've always thought about having a postion as a mod or having a key role in the development of the forums, but i realize that it may just not be my destiny. Not everyone can have a high postion of influence here, but we must all play our roles in order for this complex community to function the right way. I've come to realize that my role is to be a leader among forum posts, not in post count but in substance. It is my duty to be the example for proper behavior to other casual members such as myself, and set the standards for what might be called a quality post. I try to put true meaning into what opinions i voice and the facts that i provide. I am not perfect though , i may have a few meaningless posts or behave immaturely, but it is all about striving to be better the next day. I may never earn an important role such as mod, but i know my job and will continue to work for greatness as long as i am here. I hope am able to use my temprorary title as a beacon to others for what is expected here on the forums, and please, dont be afraid to repremand me if i suddenly become arrogant. I highly value humility in myself and others, so i make that an everyday goal for myself, both here and out in the in the real world. Once again, i am extremely honored to have this postion. I like to keep things short and sweet, so i will conclude this thread with a little bit about myself. The first halo game that i ever owned for myself was halo reach. I am only about 2 years into the halo community, but i feel that i already have immense knowledge about the game and its fiction. I will not judge myself as a player in case you were interested, that is for you guys to decide. Also, I am only a freshman in high school ( i have never revealed this to anyone here yet). those who know me a bit may be shocked to here that, but please understand that i am not your average 15 year old. I would consider myself to be both mentally and physically gifted, please excuse me for crossing my usual humility boundary here. I am one of those kids who can study for 10 minutes and manage to score an A on a test. My mind is always doing something complex, and i feel that i have a gift for "reading" other people. I dont mean like a psychic, i can just easily go through another person's though process in various situations, and determine emotions through often unoticed muscle reactions. I am also a student athlete at my high school. Football is my main sport, but i am currently trying my first season of lacrosse. Between my athletic schedule and homework, i dont have much free time. In that time, i either play halo, come here, or listen to music. That concludes my MoM thread. My spring break officially ends today, so i may not be able to post as frequently as i did in the past week. I do have my obligations as MoM though, so i will visit as much as possible this month. Remember to show respect in all situations you may find yourself in here, and stay humble. I love this community, but i hate when conflict comes up between members. It kills me inside. We are all here for the same reason, and i dont understand why some refuse to display moral values towards others that they come across. I ask any of you who read this to stand up for what is right. Do not let your emotions control you, so please, continue the mission that we all have as memebers here. If you need some motivation, just remember what i have said to you, and even dedicate your work to me.... ...your new MoM MoM wish is TBD
  15. short and sweet. Your message is greatly appreciated
  16. well..... me being a younger gamer and this game having a mature rating, i will probably have to negotiate with my parents now and it took 2 years of that for me to get halo
  17. the first picture seems to be exactly like the halo 3 elephant
  18. this should be a setting that we would get to choose from when creating a map
  19. what you have to gain is the enjoyment of playing the missions. It is supposed to give a cooperative campaign experience to players after they have completed the regular campaign. Why care about the story if you dont even feel like playing through the missions?? Anyways, I'm pretty sure there is an achievement for completing all of the missions on legendary. That might be an achievement to earn if you continue to play spartan ops. this may have been unlockable before missions 6-10 were even released, but i'm not on top of that subject. If any new achievements were to come out in the future, they would have to be accessible via DLC
  20. Yes, there are counters to this armor ability, but I think it needs to get the boot. Most players know how to correctly use this ability, especially if they are sniping or trying to escape an opponent. But when players just wait behind a corner and pull out their boltshot for half a game, that is unacceptable. being able to put this ability in a class is a privilege, and it is getting abused. I think it would be best that this ability were converted into a power up like in halo 3, and the radar distortion would be gone
  21. The Sangheli have their own civil war going on. They are divided over whether they will accept defeat by the humans and joins forces, or continue to pursue the goals of the covenant. The arbiter is a leader that has a lot of influence, so he would be a crucial part of the civil conflict
  22. the rate of fire will also play a role in this. the carbine can fire in very quick succession, but you need to land 7 shots for the kill. The BR has a slower rate of fire than the DMR, which is also a major disadvantage. Increasing the range of the other weapons would make a difference if the bullet spread was minimized, but the DMR would most likely remain dominant
  23. fighting 4 hunters would definately be something new for playing solo. I like the idea of being able to carry their shield as well
