  1. Nice find Dog. Disreguard the message I sent to you, this clears it up. Hopefully in the beginning of the new year, we can get a solid confimation on some code or at least some mysterious screen shots of the engine in VS I can look thru.
  2. Revised.....I already explained what game engine specific components are the culprit for the lag. my additional isp information was added as an extra explanation for sone cases where clients might experience lag no matter what game they are playing. i ak quite aware of fcc rulings and they have no say into what specific ports a isp blocks. ports are not applications or communication as a whole, they are simply gateways for data to use and isp companies have every right to close off or disable certain ports from being used at any time they see fit. Hence why some hosting people cannot use port 8 0for their http traffic Point is yet again......the Reach engine tunnels the co-op portikn of CEA the same way XBC or xlink kai does. Because it is tinneling it directly thru Live, there are inherent issues with the way Live handles the netcode that is being forwarded. A simple update alone will not fix this...unless that update comes in the form of a Live platform uodate. And i dont see microsoft reengineering Live to simply support CEA co-op
  3. Ok folks, here at Vyrant Studios, your old pal twinreaper has decided to setup a weekly basis of challenges that I will post up and send out to certain members of the community. Now, I am unsure of how many credits this pays out...seeing as how the whole custom challenge thing is still brand new. But if you want to participate in this and see what kind of whacky limits I can puch you guys too, then sign-up for it below. I have already created my first wave of 5 challenges and sent them out to people on my friends list. I would like to get everyone involved on a rotational basis so please help me help you by giving me a way to create some fun for everyone. To keep things simple, I will reply to this original post every Monday morning between 8am and 3pm to post up info on the new challenges and how I have selected to participate. Here is a brief overview of the challenges I set up to expire on Wednesday around 11pm-ish I think... Death Dealer: Kill 500 ODST's in Firefight. (0 credits) 343i for and Eye: Kill 3 people with a bomb detonation. (7 credits) Roll Call: Kill 50 people with a Ghost on the map Breakneck (110 credits) Industry Chatter: 200 headshots in Firefight (2632 credits) Micro not-so Soft: Kill 200 Hunters in Campaign (1097 credits) Now to start, there is only 2 challenges that allowed me to invite friends to this, so those few are the following... Spectral, Serene, Brony, Egypt, and a few others not on this site. I will do my best to get you guys a few challenges that net at least 10,000 credits or more on a weekly basis to increase your want of this. Stay tuned and see you guys next week!
  4. Welcome to the forums man. I'm sure you fit in nicely around here. We have a great bunch of guys here that can help in various ways. Don't be shy, and I hope to see you around the boards soon! Welcome again!
  5. Guys remember, it was only a teaser trailer. Creating the models for newer looking Chief and Cortana, etc... always come first when switching gears to a new game. Yes they simply could have used the old H3 models with newer shaders, but thats easy work compared to new fresh models with permutations. I would not at all be suprised if they used newer models simply to illustrate the bounds to which this new game will be pushing. If the timeline for console hardware holds true...this will be the last 360 Halo title, and I am all but certain they will almost push the 360 to the point of breaking with the tech they are imploying.
  6. I have a feeling it may be Cable providers chocking our connections. I think I said it before.....that some ISP's like to limit bandwidth slowly or use special loopholes to allow them to cut your service speeds under certain situations. My best guess is, a lot of cable companies are starting to block certain ports, specifically the ones used by the Live service for UDP and the console for TCP. This would pose a great lag issue, as the only way around it would be to force the console to use different ports...which we cannot do unless you have a dev kit or JTag 360. This would explain why people who use bittorrent frequently, have no issues and achieve high DL/UL rates, yet when they load up a multiplayer game...LIve tells them their connection sucks. Perhaps a phone call or friendly e-mail is in order to COmcast and few other ISP's?
  7. Not sure if it's a glitch or they are using a different servers side application for banning but...... I go into Firefight Doubles all the time with my son or daughter logged in. (I hate playing doubles with douches that do nothing by jump around and play around) Neither account has yet to be banned or penalized for not doing anything but basically getting killed while standing stationary the entire game. Bungie had a much stricter policy on what they would allow, and the system they deployed was their own. Since 343 has taken over server duties, it was up to them to deploy their own unmanned banhammer system.
  8. Are you absolutely sure you did this on a Defiant Map Pack map? And are you sure it was matchmaking, not custom?
  9. Statements like those above me are simple opinions. What you are saying is not fact but your own personal feeling towards the subject. As for "old fans"...I am an old fan and I appreciate what we got out of Reach. Perhaps if all the supposed "fans" stopped whining and tried to appreciate the game for what it is, you might have a better gaming experience. Halo is an interpretation not a lifestyle or cold hard ideal. And as such there is no proven formula or component of it that dictates whether or not the game is indeed "Halo". The more i see comments like this, the more I understand why Bungie and now 343i will not seriously ever consider anything this community says it should do. It has the most fractured fanbase and whiny pansies of any franchise currently in use. Call of Duty is a horrible multiplayer franchise and their fanbase doesn't whine nearly a quarter as much as Halo's does now.
  10. So you want and think all precision weapons should have no firing spread what so ever, nor suffer from spamming the trigger? Interesting, cause the way it sounds...is that you don't want to have to read your opponents movements or earn your kill. In that case, perhaps those who hate stock Reach, should go back to Halo 3 and spam the Battle Rifle.... Just to make sure you have the right idea...you know bloom is firing spread right? It's not that little reticule widget that expands when spamming the trigger. And just an FYI....even the BR from halo 3 has a slight varying vector error..oooops sorry....firing spread.
  11. First off, yes Frank stated this during a gameplay session he did for the campaign. He commented on many engine side things also. If you have taken the time to listen to him when he speaks, instead of of focusing your attention on visuals....you might learn something. Secondly I have an extensive programming library of apps, code and API's. Programming simple things like these takes weeks to months. Realize that the people over at 343i all have normal jobs at 8 hrs a day. They do not work 24/7 nor can they simply whiz thru lines of code. Each portion of the engine is sub-categorized. Each section that is even changed as little as one syntax or a single digit, has to be passed off to all other sub-sections for testing before it can be determined that one single edit is stable and does not break code. Imagine having to do this for 13,000 full lines of code. It takes time.... As for you Demon, yes it is your fault you experience these things. What you are referring to is player walls and collision boundaries. Every Halo game has them, and depending on which part of CEA you are talking about, the collision for CEA remastered version uses the same collision raw, as the original. I will not go into detail as to why this was done since previous posts elsewhere tell you this already. If it multiplayer, then again you are at fault. If you are going to be a good competitive player, shouldn't you first learn the layout of the maps? Learn what works best and where? What are the map limits? You choosing to ignore these simplistic options is not the developers fault.
  12. For you fellow Skyrim junkies, it was just discovered that the entire map terrain from the Oblivion and Marrowind editions of the game, have been found in the Skyrim game. These terrains are blank unpopulated areas east and west of the main skyrim skybox, but indicates that bethesda may be planning on expanding the open world to include travel to the lands in previous titles. You may have also noticed, a lot of characters in the game, NPC's anyway make a lot of referrences to Oblivion and Marrowind towns and people. This just further stengthens the possibility of DLC expansion. It's hard to believe they would include the fully terrained areas for absolutely no reason.
  13. Hey Katz, unless your a network programmer and possess some sort of magical programming skill which greatly outweighs mine...please sit down and shut up. There is no need to throw around explatives. Perhaps before calling BS on a certain aspect of an engine component and what is required to fix it, you should first make sure you have a complete understanding about said component before calling it out. 343i has done everything they possibly could to give us a great remastered campaign. The option to working in a proper netwroking model was their choice due to time restraints. We all need to be patient with this lag issue. Remember, they use dev kits, not normal standard 360 consoles, so as such all issues like this may not have been identified. Even if they were, the lag tolerance may have fallen into some sort of "gray" zone, in which Microsoft said that need to ship it as is, and the lag is ok. We have no idea what thought process went on if this was identified early on. 343i is a division of Microsoft, they do not get to call the final shots. Knowing what i do know about Megaloscript, it should be fairly easy for them to create a patch that further utilizes the Reach engines networking aspects. But like I said, stop the flaming and just be patient. Everyone complaining at once here, does no good to resolve the issue.
  14. Anything that is special like helmets, effects or avatar items are one time use codes and that content cannot be revived. The only coarse of action would be calling Microsoft Xbox Support for assistance.
  15. Well most of the glitches are due to the difference in hardware. Frank and the team stated a couple times that most glitches that exploited memory issues such as overloading maps would most likely not work, and the same can be said for glitches that were not present in the current game. Because CEA uses 360 hardware and emulation of an older console environment, it is quite possible that many more glitches like this can be done. Let the glitch race begin!!! And nice find there Tesseract. Look forward to seeing what else you find!
  16. Missing the point. They did not force the armor lock tweak in standard Reach yet. Anything like tweaked magnum and such are still isolated to the Classic Playlists, and thus do not appear in forge maps. besides, like previously stated, you can adjust all parameters in the settings tabs. So why is this even an issue?
  17. Happy Thanksgiving pilgrims...I'm John Wayne pilgrims....

    1. Choot 'em

      Choot 'em

      Happy Thanksgiving Twin!

  18. is this even a question? For the live of Bethesda yes....get the game. i too have never played an elder scrolls game except this one. it is great. and we the community will soon be getting the creation sdk so we can make custom stuff.
  19. Jester has the right idea. When you log into xbox.com you can pull up a list of all locenced dlc content you have downloaded. But.... here is where I tell you, that you may be screwed for your extras like recon helmet and flames from buying legendary. Ibsold my original xbox when i got the new kjnect bundle one. I went to xbox.com and transfered all content previously downloaded and their licence files to my new one. The 3 things that never showed up on the list or transfered over was my reon helmet and both reach map packs. Thats right.....lost the recon and BOTH mappacks i bought. The content didnt show on the xbox site because it was a special one time code....not a standard everyone can purchase item. the only way you can get it all back, is if Microsoft directly can issue you a new code to use. Let this be a lesson to everyone. If you need more space ir upgrade to a new xbox.....extract your hdd content via a pc connection and one of the various 360 hdd tools the modding community has out.
  20. Ok, I'm not sure how to go about starting the reply for this, so i will instead just try to throw out a numbered list of things that has happened.... 1. The servers that were used by Bungie to relay all Live data was dedicated and soley focused on Halo. Because Microsoft is a massive Corporation, they have various servers and other networking equipment running along side the Live ones. 2. The server equipment is not the same equipment as Bungie had. When they transitioned the handling of the servers, they simply rerouted the data packets (specified a new address for the console to contact) to a new server setup. Unfortunatly they did not move existing equipment from bungie to MS. 3. Updtaes Updates Updates. As the playing field continues to grow, there is more bandwidth and resources needed to dish out, and keep up with the demand. Although we have only seen minor updates in content, we have seen a completely new Live system. 4. Not widely known but very commonly practiced, ISP's often dish out to it's customers, the full bandwidth they pay for. Over time, all ISP'\s begin to choke slowly, their customers connections. 5. No offense to 343i, but simply put, the interest in constantly maintaining the servers and ensuring they run smooth 24/7 is not currently in their "bigger picture" circle of things to do. yes they do routine basic repair and upgrade work, but nothing to outlandish. 6. Even the best connection suffers from relay stations. Our connections bounce around to various relay servers and depending on the ISP and equipment owner, a great connection can suffer by having to go thru extra encryption, firewalls, etc.. Our Xboxes are not a direct connection...it takes routes and gets relayed finally ending up where it should. Only a straight wired connection from point a to point b would be perfect. In this case, the difference you see when playing local or LAN, versus Live. Hopefully these help answer your question and give you a little insight. I may not be 100% accurate in my listed items, but from what i have been able to piece together thus far, it is the most logical and complete assessment i can give outside of taking a tour of 343i myself to investigate.
  21. I'm not sure who would have the biggest advantage. I mean, I've connected my 360 controler plenty of times for Halo 1 in the past and got completely decimated by people using keyboard and mouse. And then again, there were times when I was accused of botting because I was doing the decimating. I guess it would be an even draw, depending on which type of controls you are best with and prefer?
  22. Completely wrong. TCP and UDP are simply protocols and have nothing to do with the format type in which the data transmitted. In the case of a PC communicating properly with a 360, we are talking about native win32 or win64 bit api's communicating with 360's xenonlib set of protocols and Live stand alone API's. The two would need a negotiator to translate the different formats of data they use respectively in terms of their core operating environment. They perfectly achieved this with Games for Windows Live but two different platform games is a farcry from simple friends lists communication. Games like Shadowrun and a few others were designed to communicate with each other across platform by default design. PS3 network is nowhere near as sofisticated as the Live network, so bad comparison there. DirectX has no impact on how the 2 platforms form the data packets or the encryption algorythim it uses during trasnport. Again, you can't compare different network apps to Live, just as you can't compare PS3 to 360 in that way. As for your point Sentri, I think you need to phrase what you said a little better. From what I interpret when I read it, you are saying it is a shame we can't have both the PC and Xbox communicate to eachother directly based off of having them connected to the same router? Or did you mean to say it is a shame we can't simply have an xbox plugged into a router, and find other consoles online to remotely connect to? If it is the latter, there are applications that "tunnel" your 360 into a system link connection with others on games that have LAN features built into it. AKA, using XBConnect or XLinkKai to join Reach custom games on system link. If it was the former, it just doesn't work that way. No device is natively coded in network translation, to be compatable or communicate with any other device at all. Yes some devices can and are designed thatw ay, but the Xbox 360 was not left open ended in such a manner to allow this. Beyond a simple local "LAN" connection, no other network support was given to it.
  23. I also agree, but don't expect me to tread lightly on the tech side of things. I mean c'mon./..thats like mah baby! And noone messes with Reaper's baby!!! But yes, we do need to pull together more instead of constantly flaming eachother with giant turd balls of fail. I will do my best to keep order within whatever means I have and to inspire members to be more friendly. By the almighty Twam... AMEN!
  24. This is rumored to be what is coming with Halo 4, a pc counterpart. Understand, that the only difference in the 360 version and a PC version, will be how the executable (engine core code) is compiled. Aka, XEX or .exe file. Aside from that, almost 99% of the tag-set used in both remain identical besides a few header entries. The cross platform gaming is another story though. It would be nearly impossible to achieve this, simply because of the manner in which the 2 different versions would be read and executed, and then the need to be translated between, all the while providing lag free gameplay. It isn't impossible to get cross platform gameplay, just not feesable by tech terms at this point. We need much advancement in networking to handle the kind of data required to pull it off.
  25. I think in regards to the last post, thru the years of degridation 343 has endured....he is mistakenly identifying masterchier as a forunner, based off his appearance and armor. That being said......I hope this post is not another "test" like a similar one posted a while ago. Perhaps an IP check on the OP is.in order?
