  1. Remember Angel, that is your perception of the game, not a fact. As for Bloom, why would it have to go? Bloom is in every halo title and many other shooters...
  2. The sentinel eams are a diffrent story though. The Forerunners themsleves use neural weapons I think...but then again who knows.... so many damn books and so many damn storylines.... But one thing is for sure...it's a total fake trying to get channel subscriptions...
  3. To Gravemind, I was not rying to point out anything beyond my confusion. As I said before elsewhere, I don't read the books, nor do i care to throw myself into something that does not benefit me in REAL LIFE. That is why I do the game disassembly stuff. I was simply answering your post with a statement derived from what is saw in the terminal footage from Frankie. It was not a personal attack on your post. Secondly it's a ******* game. There is no definte history, origin or future, to get all worked up about. It's all make believe...you guys do know that right? And yes before someone says it...the Reaper has once again come in a bursted many a bubbles....leave it to me. I hate myself sometimes....
  4. There will be no commendations added to your completion by playing CEA. CEA\s campaign is straight out just CEA, no interaction with the Live server beyond the Co-Op feature. But, the multiplayer feature of new Reach maps yes. It is standard Reach gameplay and works in conjunction with all current Reach stat API's and playlists yadda yadda yadda....
  5. Correct!!! The handling and physics for the warthog and ghost vehicles was written into the vehicle itself, and did not use havok to simulate or control the responses to it's movement. This is why we see such a dramatic difference in how it responds to greandes, jumps, etc... In Halo 2, they used halok to control routinely, how the vehicle handled under interactions of any kind. It wasn't until halo 3 and Reach, that they decided to adjust the way havok controlled the vehicles, to the old Halo 1 way. It does a good job of simulating it, but it will never get the exact feel down. It will be interesting to see how they incorporate physics handling into the new engine and what platform they plan to use to handle it.
  6. Complete BS. There's a reason why this guy didn't link to the official site where it was "supposedly" leaked, and instead linked you to a subscribe to the guys' Youtube. There is no official concept art that has surfaced from 343i in regards to halo 4 weapons. All this guy did, was elongate the brute shot, and tweak the image a little. Yes, once again Reaper comes in and busrts bubbles. Sorry guys, but someones gotta keep people sane and on the straight and narrow around here. Besides which, if it were a Forerunner weapon, it would be a neural weapon, not a laser type thing with an actual physcial metal blade. From what I have scouted out around forerunner weapons, and Bubonic, feel free to help me and or shed light on this, all forerunner weapons are neural energy based, not "Brute Shot / Spartan Laser" love children....
  7. Thanks for the quick reply to that Peanut. as he said, yes there will be certain TU playlists that give reach players a more old school feel in matchmaking to emulate the halo 1 experience. And yes bloom was and always will be in a Halo title...unless they decide to make a game appropriatly called "Call of Halo: UNSC Warfare 1 Billion." Bloom has it's place in halo and always will.
  8. I have a better solution that would more than likely apease everyone. Ina standard sports game you always have backup team members or shifts that come in to releive or replace members of the team. I suggest that each match of team play in certain playlists, like grifball and CTF, have a backup system. here's what I eman. When you are in the lobby waiting for players, the system picks the standard players. On top of that up to 4 more people are chosen as backups. 2 for each team. These people do not get to play, but are instead "benched" in a spectator mode. When a player starts betraying a team or doing things out of "team play" normalcy, the offended team mate can push a button, have that person ejected, and then have a "spectator" player, join the match in the booteds' place. Of coarse to please the spectators, they would receive the same completion credits for the match as everyone else. As for the offenders, they should have a completion crdit balance deducted from there bank of credits. Personally I think that is a great way to emphasize to players that team work at all times is a must, and it is not a competition to see what team memebr individually is the best. Save that stuff for Rumble pit or stand alone gametypes. This alone would curb the excessive amount of betrayers for bombs and flag captures during team play. I mean c'mon...who wants to give up 3k in credits just for a few flag captures? Again though, this feature is best left for the newer Halo titles. Using ideas like this now, would nessessitate the need for people to buy a new Halo title, and diminish the rplay value of a future title. Just my 2 cents worth...
  9. The wording you are using to ask the question, makes it sound as if Halo Reach's theatre options are hosted and controlled by someone. The reach theatre mode is not hosted or controlled by anyone, but is rather a temporary data file. Now, the feature I believe you are referring to, is the rendering of the theatre file into a viewable distributable standard format, like mp4 or wma. That rendering process into a usable video/audio stream file is simply an extension of the various Reach API's used in standard server operations. Although i believe it reserved for paying members, it will be staying with Bungie. it is their own rendering system and seperate from a standard Halo franchise asset. That being said, it has been determined that 343i will be hosting this service and continuing it for members that have already paid for the service. beyond that, we have had no official word. There are though, many members of the modding community who have had, but not publically released, the video/audio decompression schemes for extracting the raw data, and converting it over to a usable file. For those who do not know what exactly the theatre mode does to enable replay of matches, I'll try to explain.... The theatre mode, by time index, reads and organizes all data into vertex coordinates. It basically breaks down everything inside of the match besides the bsp itself into a usable coordinate system, that the theatre option can then refer to, to display everything we see in the mode. It works similar to an animation file, in the way that it is broken down...actually it reseembles a cinematic more. For those who do any kind of 3d modeling and animation with it, you are well aware of how the system remembers coordinate data for vertices, faces etc... The Theatre mode in reach and halo 3 works the same way. If you were to open a theatre save file, you would be presented with compressed data that is filled with verts, normals, faces, materails, and the compressed values for the models and meshes in which they are associated. If this doesn't make any sense, you can try googling for how 3d apps handle animation and it may give you a better understanding.
  10. They did not stick to the ground in CE incampaign. They used limp body physics but only when the body was subjected to explosions. Melee responsesand inherited ragdoll physics wefe not incorporated because Halo 1 didnt use Havok physics for anything besides the bsp. You can find a documentary or two about it. A good example of this is how diferrent the handling and collision responses are between the warthog in halo1 and halo 2
  11. Perhaps I should start a general tech help thread? None the less I can help. Heat can and will always effect performance on any type of electronic device. Since routers are usually powered on 24/7 and have no actively installed cooling policy...aka fans or heatsinks, routers can be greatly effected by heat. But keep in mind that most routers are designed for constant use, and shouldnt see a large impact on performance. Unless you got a bad model that is. What make and model router are you using please?
  12. Congrats Father and everyone else who won this month. And Father....I fully expect to get a co_op invite!
  13. Yeah, same goes for me. I've been playing campaign for CE for like 10 years now. I play a few levels on PC everyday to this day still! I want to be like the first of 5 people to have Legendary ebat right after midnight. gotta practice now while I can too!

From what i know, the new maps will be rotated like the already existing ones. Except for when you are in a party or in a match with people that don't have them, it will just exclude them from the voting section. In otherwords, you can only play the new maps on any playlist, as long as you and the rest of the matchmaking party has them. The only thing getting a dedicated seperate playlist is the Title update tweaks. I could be worng, but I guess we'll find out tuesday sometime....hopefully 12:01am..lmao right after I grab my copy from gamestop.
  15. True that Serene....and I have no idea what AAn2 is talking about...... yeahhhhh, thats my story and I'm sticking to it you sexy beast! lmao But yeah guys, let's get this Teamspeak active as all hell. It's a great tool to use when gaming on PC and for those on laptops without 360 headsets. C'mon in and join the fun! Don't be shy!!!
  16. I'm confused about the whole thing. The monitor Guilty Spark didn't know anything about us. In fact, during the terminal sequence on the Pillar of Autumn in CEA, it tells us how the Monitor downloaded all our history from the Pillar's computers systems. that is how he learned about us. Secondly, the "Sparkster" goes on to say that we were invited to the ring...meaning the monitor probably did some reconfiguring to allow only us to operate forerunner machinery. This likely occured on all rings, since they are interconnected....which is why on delta and I think gamma? we were still able to operate forerunner things. Now, I am not sure if 343i used direct referrences for this stuff from any of the books, but seeing as how they are now the heads of all things Halo, I will foloow what they publish in-game as "cannon" and true to the universe of Halo.
  17. Great video. Frankie really sucks at halo...lmao Thats what happens you get to his level though. You find yourself managing more and playing a lot less. Interesting enough though, I was suprised to hear that from Frankie's own submission, if I heard him correctly, that the Reach engine and the CE engine actually run side by side. I had initially thought the same thing....score one for me! Overall, the campaign looks great. it's just mind blowing to see the original levels, then switch to see how they look now. it brings back a lot of great/fustrating memories. I cannot wait till tuesday 12am for this!!!!! For the record. Thanks for remaking such an epic 343i and Sabre Int. You have really done the Halo name proud and have made a firm believer in me, as to what this new group can and will do with the future of Halo.
  18. Yeah I really dont see what the fuss is about. it cost 2 companies lots of time and man power to make the game, and the $40 priice tag is a steal! Hell, go on e-bay and try to fond a legit working copy of Halo 1 for PC or for that matter, a solid working xbox and a copy of halo 1 for under $40. Can't do it. I really hate it when people try to describe the CE remake, they always make it sound cheap and an underated game. Besides the fact that it is Halo's 10th Ann, as stated before, 343i needs to get the community looking at something current that they can produce, and use that as a basis for what the community expects and how they react to the content they create. Do you really think 343i wants to go in blind with halo 4? Hellz niz-o! They need to gain some ground with the community first. Another way to look at it, would be to either play CE or accept a nice long lul in between game titles. I'll take CE anyday over a lul. Also, just throwing this out there.....remember, the 2012 date for halo 4 is not a solid confirm of the shipping date. It may indeed get pushed back depending on the response to CE and any other development issues that come up.
  19. The space combat scenario is extremely feesable. You would basically just place a zero gravity script in an empty skybox and populate it with the stuff you need. For instance place Anchor 9 as a dock, and have the inside areas run a full gravity script. Those things we already see now on the map Anchor 9. As for the vehicle part, it would take a lot of work to make those vehicles destructable to a useable level. Most of what we see in game assett wise, is all cutscene or scripted destruction. They would need to add in-between permutations to the models. Also, they would have to increase the FOV on 3rd person for the vehicle driver, and make sure that any passanger or turret seat is in 1st person. If turrets apply. I have to say, this brings up another great invasion idea..... 2 teasm start out. 1 covie and 1 UNSC. Each start on board their native ships...AKA Covenant Capital ship and a oh lets say Saratoga. Both teams start out on opposite sides of the map and both ships are unmanned driving wise. each team gets a driver to drive the ship, and the rest of the team mans cannons, flies out in sabres, seraphs, etc... At one point, you could have pods that launch from the invading team that latch onto the ship, alla "boarding" the enemy vessel. Think of Halo 1 and 2 how the covenant board the orbita platforms. I think that would make a sweet scenario for Invasion gametypes!
  20. The way you guys complain about armor lock, you make it seem as if you have no choice in using it, or having others use it against you. The TU is a seperate playlist, so quit complaining about that. As for the before mentioned who just hate it period...that is why we have custom games. Seriously...have you read through a majority of the AL hate threads around here? Half of them are from people who hate AL and hate the players they are matched up against. So why do it to yourself, then come in here, and hurt my eyes with your flamey craptacular turd piles of rants about it? Just go play some custom games with custom settings with all your (**sarcastic**) **uber l337** self appointed ******-bag friends and leave the general community of fun loving folks(***thats us!***) alone! The TU trial and error crap has been over for what? 3 weeks now? They will take down the TU playlist in a couple days, then you can see the final product and start crying about that as well. I thnk it's high time we made a seperate forum section devoted to just rnats about stuff in the games. I say we make the new forum section, and start moving all this crap over to help clean up the regular, non flamey threads a bit. Hell, I'll even do the thread moving for you guys!
  21. Actually it's combination of Halo 1 and Halo 2 shader systems and properties that really brought the environmental mesh to life and made it look awesome. As for lighting, it would probably look a million times more realistic had they opted to optimize the engine to handle per-pizel and per vertex real time lighting. Instead, we got a system that uses the real time lighting and shadow casting for simple light fixtures. Reach does a good job of semi-incorporating the real time lighting with the sky. Some maps have clouds pass by the sun, and it actually casts shadows on th ground.
  22. Ughh more multiplayer achievements that I will never be able to get. Damn you 343!!!!!! I royally suck at multiplayer. Oh btw LoFi, nice avatar. I just now noticed it's Sealab 2020. Epic!!!!
  23. Good question Peachez. That one is probably better suited to Kornman over at Halomods though. From I can gather, the layout of the tag structure is going to be identical to Reach. But it does the raise the question as to how they are incorporating the original CE tag set into it. Scenario files in general don't like it when you have a bsp with predicted resources pointing to a scenario file, and another bsp pointing to a secondary scenario file. I wont be able to look into it any further until I get my hands on the game. Just in the off chance you are reffering to titles coming after CE, it is still unknown. I still have not heard any word in regards to what the engines project name is, or what type of engine they plan on going with. All I do know is that is being loosley based off of blam!, but will be a completely seperate in-house made engine. Makes me wonder if they are still gonna use Havok for the physics?
  24. If I wasn't do damn old...I could remember..... Oh well. I made it to see a 10th anniversary release...that counts for something. Can't believe I have blindly playing just 99% of my gaming time playing Halo. Wow, just wow.
  25. Glad to have you back Doc. I am so relieved you made it back unharmed and was able to be here for the upcoming holiday season. I wish you, your family and those you left behind in Iraq well. Welcome home man!!!
