if you could remaster any game

Recommended Posts

Great topic, Caboose! :)

For me, it sort of depends on whether it's just a straight remastering with updated graphics, or whether it would get engine/gameplay upgrades too.

For a straight graphical overhaul, it's got to be Star Wars: Battlefront II. That was a really amazing game, and even though the physics could be a little glitchy, the AI could be quite poor and it had a fair few bugs, I'd still buy it up in a heartbeat for the upgraded graphics alone - even more so if they retooled the online modes to work with more players!

For a sort of remake, I'd go with Phantasy Star Online. I spent horrifying amounts of time on it as a preteen, and with a few upgrades to the gameplay and mechanics, it could be even better. It'd also be great to have the character roster expanded a little, something the later games did right, even though they sacrificed a lot of the stuff that made the first so good.

For a straight remaster I would do Skies of Arcadia. An old dreamcast rpg. I wouldn't change much but give a major graphics overhaul, and fix some of the ham fisted dialogue. I would keep the art style the same though. I wouldn't make nit like that legends remake that they did on the gamecube. That thing was horrendous.

I do think that if they remade Battlefront 2 they would have to add a lot more maps and expand the story mode. I'm not the biggest Star Wars fan but it would be nice to be able to play through the whole story rather than just a condensed version of Episode III.

Silent Hill

Blood, corpses, entrails and monsters weren't real enough for me. Also, the hilariously large residential streets. My sides still hurt because of that two-minute jaunt to cross the road. (slight exaggeration).
