  1. First off, before I say much of anything, I want to thank adam91 for bringing the good news that this weekend is a FREE GOLD WEEKEND! I was going to get a month's worth of Live a little while back. Before then, I was going to redeem a code given to me by Bnus, but it turns out that code was redeemable only in the states. Regardless, this idea has been floating around in my head for awhile. So, here are the important details: GAME: Halo 4 + Forge Island TIME: 2pm-6pm PST, February 15 MIC: preferred but not required GIFTS?: I DESIRE ALL THE PRESENTS (seriously though, no) BYOB?: Yes I know it's a bit impromptu. If I had known about this free weekend earlier, I would've prepared more. So if attendance is low, as in four or fewer people in total, we may end up derping around in campaign, forge, or Spartan Ops. Either way, fun is the goal and fun shall be had! Courtesy of the talented pharmacist of 343i City, Vitamin PWN And here's a song too.
  2. Halo: Combat Evolved (prepares flame shield) I enjoy every other Halo except for Halo Wars, but I just didn't enjoy the game that started it all as much. The levels felt repetitive and were not very fun at all.
  3. Thanks, everyone! I can't believe... uh... can't... er... who are you people? What was I talking about? Oh yeah! I've got an awesome way to celebrate my birthday too: WORKING! Yaaaaaaaaaaaaaay! But enough whining. I'm glad that I'll have an amazing cake and an equally amazing community awaiting me when I get home. Thanks again everyone. I'll be sure to enjoy the cake for all of us... tomorrow.
  4. I'd rather play this game... But until that game comes out, I guess simulating the life of a goat will have to do.
  5. 1. Place some random forge pieces everywhere. 2. Toss weapons everywhere, as well as armour abilities and vehicles. 3. Set the spawn times of everything at random... same with whether or not they appear at the beginning. 4. Meticulously place initial spawn and respawn points, as well as place kill boundaries appropriately. 5. ????? 6. Watch the download count skyrocket. Now, disregard all of that except for step 1 and step 4. Seriously, you might get some ideas just by placing random structure pieces down and seeing how you can rearrange them to make them fit nicely. Getting the technical details right will greatly improve the quality of anything you make. Even if it looks like trash, I'd much rather be able to play than not play at all. I hate it when someone shows me a minigame map, and I end up spawning in the middle of nowhere.
  6. I get an Archer calendar, and I open it to February... sure enough, it shows Lana.

  7. Perhaps a small planetoid or a moon with an atmosphere like Titan or Endor would be possible, since travel would be easier on a smaller celestial body. If it were an earth sized planet, that is unfeasible even with 8GB of RAM and a cloud server. Plus, it would take a long time to construct such a planet and test it for glitches. Maybe it would be possible for Halo 6, but not for Halo 5.
  8. 343i City is founded at last! See what people _actually_ had to say! http://www.343industries.org/forum/topic/33302-343iorg-city/?p=300203

  9. Here, listen to some music while you read! Also, read the spoiler. 343i City Founded, Members and Moderators Celebrate! Construction on 343i City is finally underway! After a week of city council meticulously planning the layout of 343i City and the future populace voting on a location, groundbreaking of various properties around the city and one major motorway has taken place. With a total population of 142 residents, and the establishment of a small clinic, police precinct, and fire station, as well as an elementary and high school, citizens are optimistic about the newborn city's future. "Mayor Maestro seems like a pretty stand-up guy," a green member who wished to remain anonymous stated. "We can trust a guy like him, with over ten years of city building experience under his belt, to guide this city to prosperity. I'm glad I voted for him in that mayoral election that totally happened on February 29 back in Cyphern's election of '0π. Been voting for him ever since then." Many in the town has been singing praises, including the upper ranks of the local precinct. "I'm confident in our police force's abilities. Our team is a well-rounded group that upholds the laws in which Governor Twam has set forth," the Chief of Police, RedStarRocket91, told the 343 Bulletin. "As 343i City grows, I firmly believe that our team can keep the crime rate low and maintain the peace as long as Mayor Maestro builds precincts accordingly. But for the time being, the Stig doesn't even have to worry about people peeling out on his roads!" He also remarked on the town's firefighting squad. "Our firefighters are the best of the best. They've put out many flame wars before they even start!" A sailor by the name of Edward Kenway also expressed his opinion of 343i City's location. "Arr, there be plenty o' fish and whales in Bungie Bay fer me mateys an' I to catch!" However, his opinion was not wholly positive. "There be some wicked creatures lurkin' in the deep. Some call the location the Trench of the Banned. Ye never know what sort o' critters ye be reelin' in when ye weigh anchor thar!" However, local healthcare workers are worried. Local pharmacist Vitamin PWN expressed his concerns over the town's ability to get much needed medication. "With the lack of infrastructure in place, it'll take weeks to bring in a measly bottle of aspirin. I've heard time and time again from DoctorB77 that he doesn't want to operate on anyone using mushrooms collected from people's bathmats or random shrubbery purchased from people who say 'ni'. Headaches have to be treated in ceremonies led by questionable folks in robes on the shore near the Trench of the Banned, and don't get me started on nausea." Vitamin PWN hopes that an airport is constructed in the near future so cargo aircraft can bring in precious medicine much faster than the town's ferry boats. DoctorB77 could not be reached for comment. Bnus commented on the town's current lack of communication equipment. "I couldn't help but notice that as soon as I finished hauling my stuff into my house and checked my cellphone, I didn't have a signal. I'm glad I have my ham radio and know how to communicate using smoke signals!" Overall, the town is hopeful for the future. Although everyone has their own concerns, the Mayor has said that they will be addressed as they become prevalent. He also went on to say that the positions of superintendent, fire chief, and utilities advisor are open.
  10. The one thing that scares me about this blade is how the two halves wobble with the users' movements at the end. Wouldn't one be able to add a small stabilizing piece at the end and sharpen the edge facing the point? Otherwise, I'd buy it in a heartbeat if I lived anywhere near the armory.
  11. Just search up "Race" and look for a gametype created by a member named "synth". That's the official modded Race gametype that many people use. Alternatively, you could tinker with Forgeball under Multi-Team Ricochet to make a race-like gametype. Use the "rico_forgezone" label for each checkpoint, and then use the "rico_forgeball" label for each vehicle. Unfortunately, that's all I know for making race using Multi-Team Ricochet. Basically, using the modded Race gametype is the better way to go, as you automatically spawn and respawn in the vehicle of your choosing and can even set the vehicle and player sizes!
  12. The one thing that Flood always lacked was variety and customization. You get fast zombies, some in vehicles, or some jumping down from the ceiling, but they can only use their claw to hit you and are easy to kill. This mod will breathe some much needed life into a dying gametype. Now instead of nimble zombies that you can kill in one hit, you have classes... and that is beautiful when it comes to being a zombie. It looks like one that'll make me get Xbox Live again just to tinker with it in forge, that's for sure! Now, what if someone were to merge Infection and Plague? Zombies that can use other weapons AND have different classes?
  13. And the polls are now closed! Thanks to everyone who voted! With a final score of 10-8-6, dragging behind in the polls until yesterday, the winning location is... LOCATION TWO! Before groundbreaking begins, I have to resolve a glitch regarding sidewalk textures... for some reason, red cobblestone shows up in front of high wealth residential and commercial buildings, and the rest of the sidewalks show up as regular grey sidewalks. I also need to get a few more small buildings, and then 343 City will be ready to go!
  14. Knights with their frequent teleporting and their ungodly shield recharge rate. And the despawn time of weapons in both multiplayer and Spartan Ops. FFFFFF-
  15. This is a very impressive project you've got going on! Don't be ashamed to use Halo 4 assets, they're pretty. I'm curious though, what sort of plot do you have in mind for this game?
  16. None of us here have the power to do anything about it, for this is not Halo's official website. If you go to Halo Waypoint, you can get in touch with some of 343 Industries' staff. You could also work on a strategy to take down whoever is holding the Incineration Cannon. It only has three shots before it runs out of ammo, so their reign of terror won't last too long.
  17. Then Jackals would be the cannon fodder! What if the Sangheili were the cannon fodder and the Unggoy were the military backbone of the Covenant?
  18. UPDATE First off, I'd like to thank everyone who has voted and replied to this thread so far! I'm pumped to start the groundbreaking and getting everything underway. Thus far, I've been gathering a whole bunch of custom content, mainly small residential, commercial, and civic buildings to prevent an overflow of dreadful Maxis buildings from popping up everywhere like weeds. I've got a reasonable collection of taller buildings as well, but I don't need to worry about those nearly as much since little buildings pop up far more frequently than skyscrapers. I've also been looking at getting some bridges as well, since every location I've chosen will need at least one bridge. The issue with bridges, however, is that they need a specific length or shore height in order to look presentable. I've found as much Halo-related content as well, what little there is. Regardless, you will recognize one piece, and maybe a couple more if you paid a lot of attention to ODST. If 343 City becomes a bustling metropolis, you may start to see some tall buildings from cities around the world. Which brings me to my second point. I've been looking extensively at each location and have started developing some plans on how a city can be laid out to fully utilize what the land has to offer and where to set up main thoroughfares. I've been giving Location 3 more attention because that seems to be the favourite location so far and also requires the most planning of all locations to make it look half-decent. When you build on relatively steep slopes in Simcity 4, it produces hideous and insanely steep cliffsides. And finally... @ Yoshi: You can get a Sim named after you, but chances are he won't look anything like you or be able to navigate NAM (it's a transport mod) road systems. Darn pathfinding issues and just sheer Sim stupidity are the downfall of every "My Sim" inhabitant you add into any city. I'll name a building after you instead. @ Da Baws: Funny that you mention getting bridges in Location 3... custom bridges are most likely to work on its shores. @ Ranger447: I thought the force that binds the universe was gravity! @ Halo5follower: Uh... which one? @ Eddy: Heh, symbolism. Location 1 would also be a similar idea, would it not? @ Magical Love: Your hometown's also the source for many towers on Simtropolis. There's an entire team dedicated to recreating buildings from Hong Kong for use in Simcity 4. @ adam91: Hopefully I can get the population in Location 3 to grow enough so that large buildings start appearing at the base of the mountain.
  19. 5 days until groundbreaking begins! Be a part of 343 City history today! http://www.343industries.org/forum/topic/33302-343iorg-city/

  20. And who could forget an entirely new universe to explore? Adventuring and exploring are the best parts of immersing yourself in a sci-fi story! If it wasn't for the huge amount of lore that Halo has to offer, it would be just another futuristic shooter.
