  1. I know you can adjust the monitor's angle to slow down movements, but it is not really the same. Still, while frustrating, the lack of precision editing/zoom does not stop me from forging my maps the way I want to. CV
  2. Halo 4 Forge is definately better than Reach and Halo 3, though sadly due to a glitch/bug or whatever the fine tuning and zoom functions are disfunctional. The magnet system needs more improvement too, but that is really just a minor issue for me. I thought Forge Island was coming out April 11? I'm a bit in the dark until my new xbox arrives. Basically overheaded the vid card last weekend. Can't wait to forge on Forge Island! CV
  3. I hear what you are saying. I just read the PC Gamer article where the Tripwire President went into detail about why COD is ruining FPS games. I always hear other gamers talking about this and other issues within the Halo community, but I have really not given much attention to it. I agree with the criticism I understand. I want Halo to remain unique among the COD influenced FPS games. But I can understand the concerns about the toxic influence of COD, and honestly I am not a real COD fan, other than the Zombie mode on Blackops, which is actually really fun, but I have a thing for games with zombies I guess. It is why I mentioned Battlefield, because while probably some of the same criticisms of COD can be lobbied against Battlefield, I think that what separates Battlefield from COD is that there is a genuine attempt to foster team play and cooperation, in some ways at a more sophisticated level than Halo. I don't want Halo to mimic Battlefield, but I think there are some things they can learn from Battlefield. I also see more similarities between BF3 and Halo in that there's more skill required. You can't always just randomly shoot like in COD and get kills. Like in Halo, in BF3 oftentimes I am able to manuever fast enough when being shot at to swing around and kill the attacker, maybe because they are not a good shot, I don't know.
  4. If I actually responded to your hyperbolic rant that way I wanted to I would be banned from these forums. CV
  5. Well, Halo is not only influenced by COD or Battlefield, which anyone who has ever played Crysis will tell you. What you have with Halo is that they are constantly needing to balance an evolving FPS system and add new elements while trying to stay true to the original game. It can't be easy doing this, and there will always be people who have a 100 page book of complaints. I am generally not one to complain. I have played Halo since CE. I miss Halo 2 like many others who have been in this community for a long time, but I am easy going and tend to go with the flow. And I like it that the Halo makers, be them Bungie or 343 are willing to take chances and try new things. You really don't see this with COD. Every time I play COD it feels like the same old game, both in terms of experience, graphics and all other elements. I think that type of thinking will come to haunt them down the road, esp with Halo on the rise again (in my mind), but particularly with FPS games like Battlefield, which are so many notches above COD I can't even begin to tell you. Not complaining, just pointing some things out based on my experience. I don't happen to think armor abilities brings the game down, it just adds to the experience. And, on a parting note, I am really excited to see what the next gen will do for Halo. One of the things I really love about Halo is the art and the architectural creations, and the color pallet. Battlefield has huge maps, much larger than any Forge World, and tons of weapons and vehicles, but they can do this because they have a limited color pallet. When I hear Halo fans bring up the lack of weapons or why don't we have all the vehicles, etc., I wonder if they have ever contemplated the limitations of the current xbox, and that I am sure the developers would love to include everything, but it is simply not possible at this state. Perhaps more so after next gen is here. CV
  6. I know it is not fiesible, but I wish 343 would take time/money to invest in vevisioning the Forge progam. I know they need to invest their resources elsewhere, but the Forge is one of the crown jewels of the Halo experience, and I don't think Forgers would mind 343 making some dramatic revisions/updates to Forge Mode. There have been hundreds of posts created over the years with creative suggestions from the community since before Reach. CV
  7. I like all of these suggestions. I think making dual yielding as an armor component/specialization would be a creative way to implement. CV
  8. I think what would be really cool is if, rather than merely respawn as Flood, when you are infected you watch a quick movie showing your infected body morphing into the Flood form. You would still be spawning in, but there would be the quick visual of your Spartan re-animating. I think the only difference as to spawning would be that you might spawn where you were killed, unless there are still Survivors. Or, perhaps there would be a visual that would show you re-animate and jump or leap off into the distance. Actually, it would be really sick if your recently dead Spartan literally mutated and re-spawned at the site of the kill. The three possible situations here could be you catch your team unawares and get a few quick kills, or your team sees you re-animating as Flood and kills you off, causing you to respawn in a different location, or you re-animate and there are no survivors left around you because they are mostly dead or have moved to a different location. Just a thought. CV
  9. That's funny, heh. You know you are on the forums too much when a message pops up saying "You have reached your quota of positive votes for the day." Anyhow, yeah I think Knigthts have more to offer than Brutes, but I think the Hunter species has more to offer than both, when you consider the possibilities for expanding on what little we know about them, other than they are a collection of parasitic like worms that form a collective consciousness. I just think there is great potential for the Hunter or some variation, esp as a new foe or friend. CV
  10. thinking about drawing up some concept drawings of new Hunter variations (different worm morphs)....

Yeah, I will this weekend since my xbox is fried, and the new one is somewhere between PA ande CA. :(

  11. I love Battlefield as much as Halo. Been waiting for BF4 for a while now. Can't wait! CV
  12. I am really excited. That's all I have to say. CV
  13. Wow, thanks for sharing this. This has been one of the best reveals so far. CV
  14. I am partial to the Exo in this moment.
  15. Here is an idea that might actually get some interest. I, like so many Halo geeks, am somewhat fascinated by the Hunter species, particularly the fact that they are a collectivist species of several worms. First, I am curious about the Hunter home world, their culture, and what other possible species or variations might exist. I first brought this idea up in this topic. So, the idea goes like this, and has two parts: Part One: In a future Halo installment, such as Halo 6, we could be introduced to a new Hunter-like enemy (or enemies?), one that is more agile perhaps, offering a new Elite like enemy, but with its own unique qualities. This offers new variety to the game without necessarily losing the core elements. Also, new weapons, Armor Abilities, etc. The second part of this idea goes like this: 343 could run a trillogy with this Hunter-type character as the hero in this new saga. We could learn more about the Hunter home world and I think it woud be a way to explore something new within the Halo Universe. What are your thoughts? CV
  16. I actually think it would be interesting to have a game centered around the Hunter species. I am very interested in what other forms the worms take. I see people wanting Halo 5 to take place at the Elite home world, but I am actually much more interested in the Hunters. Think about it: The worms combine to form the Hunter, but what other forms/species/variations can there be? The possibilities are probably seemingly limitless. I just think as a separate trillogy it would be interesting. On that note, I feel like the Hunter as a species actually opens up opportunities for new Covenant enemies, or allies to the UNSC. Just had this thought, but a slimmer more Spartan/Elite type Hunter form could be introduced in one of the new Halo sagas, perhaps Halo 6? But they could introduce this new friend/foe in the new trillogy, and then make a break-off trillogy with this new character. Just a thought, again. Oh well, I have time to think as my 360 is fried and the slim in in the mail, likely to arrive some time next week. CV
  17. Probably so, but John117 survived a nuclear blast at ground zero. Like I said, IF she was brought back she would not be the same. I am playing on the storyline of Halo 4 that seemed to use foreshadowing to hint that Cortana could be unique in ways unknown. I don't know if 343 has killed Cortana for good. In some ways it might make sense, as he is now set to face life alone, and perhaps a great threat, but seems he needs to answer that question as to who is the machine? All I am saying is there is genuinely a way to bring her back into the storyline. Just read Ender's Game/Speaker for the Dead for inspiration. Remember Jane? She was an anomoly created by the Hive Queen to try and stop Ender from destroying the Buggers, and later took on her own life and became another sentient being in that universe. At a later book the Republic tries to kill her by shutting the Ansible down, the galactic information network which she lived in. But she did not die--she managed to survive and continue to evolver as a being. That is where I am coming from on this. I am OK either way. After all, it is just a game, but it is fun to ponder these questions and possibilities. I am not fond of people who say "that is impossible," because what seems impossible today will be tomorrows norm. CV
  18. Yeah, I agree. It was just a thought, however improbable, but I just thought it would ignite a brief discussion. When I propose these thoughts it is not that I think they would ever come to be, I just want to explore the thought with other players. I don't pretend to think that this would ever happen, but as most of us know sometimes what starts out to be a rediculous idea can work its way out to be something interesting.
  19. I just meant a game variant on multiplayer, not a campaign for each. Just had the thought and thought I'd share. I think if Elites are brought back in to multiplayer it would be nice to have more customization. As for the rest, I don't think it would play out well having so many of the primary players in one multiplayer game--would dillute it. Still, it would be kind of fun to play as a Brute, or a Promethean Knight. CV
  20. I agree. I have always felt that there should be not limit to individual items, but still have the budget for the reasons others have stated. I have had many times I could have used more blocks, or more doors, etc, but ran out and had to make adjustments to my Hopefully the next gen will allow this, as I have heard that it will be 30 times faster. And given the advances with hardware, I should hope so. CV design. This would still be keeping in tune with the notion of the budget to keep maps from being too heavy and glitched, while opening up a forger's options without corrupting the creative incentive to have limits such as the budget.
  21. New Xbox in the mail. Tomorrow, but likely next week to arrive. Oh, hum....

I am compensating by trolling every forum topic I can find interesting. LOL

  22. What do you think about a game variant in multiplayer where you could choose to be any one of several Halo characters (Brutes, Elites, Spartans, Flood, Promethean Knights or Hunters)? I am not sure what I think about it at this point, but I wanted to put it out there and see what other folks in the community think about this. I would not want every variant to have this, just a specific game variant. You would be able to customize each of the characters similar to the way we customize the Spartan armor, loadouts, specialties, etc. What do you think?
  23. It would definitely add a new level to the Flood concept. I also mentioned in some other post an idea of a new Flood multiplayer variant where, as Flood, the longer you survive and kill survivors you mutate into a more powerful (Alpha) zombie. Likewise, if you start to die you will devolve back to the base form. Each new mutation would have different Flood Armor abilties and weapon choices. CV
  24. Cortana's death is not guarenteed; I happen to believe that she will exist in an evolved state, increasingly powerful and more fluid and with more depth. I would like to see her return in some other form, and grow/develope as this trillogy expands. As the other two below you post said, this is his story, and we are likely to see him go through a darker period of self reflection, judging by the end of Halo 4. Who's the man, and who's the machine? The way Halo 4 ended was not the end for Master Chief. To me, that would suck, because his story is not finished yet. I think they are gearing up to make some new changes to the Spartan with the next gen (though I imagine that hardcore Halo fans don't want the Master Chief's suit to change in any significant way, even though logic should tell us that technology is always evolving, and after years of influence from the Covenant and Forerunners you would imagine that the UNSC would have developed new Spartan suits, new weapons and vehicles, and other technologies, but this is a long aside. Sorry) CV
  25. Well, it is not a stretch of the imagination. If survivors can respawn as Flood, than Flood can respawn as survivors. It would be an interesting spin on the Infection variant if it ever happened. CV
