  1. I think the Flood can be brought back in. I don't think they are eliminated yet. If the Forerunners could not do it with the Halo rings, than certainly not the UNSC with a lower level of technological prowess. CV
  2. let's just forget the market idea for now. Let's talk customized forge objects. As Goldeneye was saying, it would require new forge objects that are like pieces or fragments that we can use to put together and create new objects. When you add my idea of Batch Rendering, where you have the ability to "render" these objects, which would wipe textures and eliminate unseen internal object faces, and the final stage would be adding texture/skin and perhaps other details. This level of forging would be epic. Truly! CV
  3. Like I said, if it was a bartering system there would have to be some sort of currency. But, I know what you are saying. We already have the Fileshare system. So, when a custom object is complete you would upload to your Fileshare. Then, like maps and gametypes and screen shots, you could search custom made forge objects on Waypoint. But, just to be clear, the credit system would not be money, if that ever happened. But that is not the point. Forget that part of this discussion--focus on the idea of creating custom objects and being able to share them with others. That's what we are really talking about here, Bacon. CV
  4. Playing as Elites was more enjoyable pre Reach for me. It was nice having the choice.
  5. Not paying foe forge. I think it was a bit more like a bartering system of sorts. The main point was to be able to create unique forge objects and be able to share them with others. Perhaps this could be done by loading it into the fileshare. But I think the idea of a forge marketplace of sorts is not stupid at all. The details need to be worked out as to how we imagine this could ever work, which is why it's open for discussion. If you read Sinister King's post you might see that he had the idea. Of something like forge credits, which is not MS Points. That was just me thinking out loud. But if you think of a marketplace of forged objects created by the community would be an interesting and unique addition to our community. Think of it: however it plays out, if it ever happened, it would simply be fun to be able to create a forge-able object and likewise be able to share that--offer it for others to import into their own custom palette--whether it is uploading to your fileshare, or this market idea. The idea of credits would be an imaginary currency, and there could be many ways to build your currency. But, more important is the original thought, which is to be able to import custom objects to your maps. You can oppose the market concept, but you gotta love this. CV
  6. I think it sounds like a really interesting idea. The idea of building your own objects bares similarity to another idea I have called batch-render. Basically after you have batch-grabbed a group of objects you have formed into a unique form/structure you can render the object (probably would take time). Basically, by rendering a batch-grabbed object you would eliminate the internal edges and smooth the outside edges. The new object would be blank so the final stage would be applying texturing or skin. Your idea sound similar, but with the ability to make precise features to the new object. As with what you have said, I would see the new object would be available in quantity under a palette like Decorative, or perhaps a new one like Custom or Rendered. And the idea of having a Forgers market place sounds ingenious, really. How fun, to create/name/categorize an object and be able to put it on the market for other Forgers to purchase. You would have to pay a small stipend in MS Points, but perhaps once your customized object is in the market you would receive credit once the DL reaches a certain number. I really feel like you should create a new thread covering this whole concept of the Market and the first idea, with any links/youtube videos you can pull up. We could cross reference our topics. I actually encourage everyone with ideas this original to start a new topic thread and link to this one, and I will link back once I put the idea up in the summary. I am in the process of editing/organizing/clarifying the Wish list Summary. Hoping to have it complete by this evening. CV
  7. That's a great idea. I have thought of that too. Giving us object dlc's and other forge updates would be great! CV
  8. I share your views on this Victory. My idea of Firefight stems from ODST. Bungie ruined the essence of what was Firefighters in Reach. CV
  9. I am working on updating and clarifying the list this weekend. I will add your suggestion. CV
  10. I don't think they will bring back the Flood, and they seem to have tried to bring back a new enemy with the Prometheans. But I agree. If they bring back the Flood they should be molded after CE. They were the best in the original. CV
  11. Customizing the gametype is the biggest issue, including the weapon issue. If we could create Flood gametypes with weapon use and access to other infection types there would be little to complain about. It can't be too hard. Lord Zed's creates the Flood mods that allows Flood to hold and pick up weapons like humans. But I'm just pointing out the obvious here. CV
  12. Thanks Wilson. It probably would be easy, especially since H4 uses the Reach engine, and I've heard there is a large degree of latitude with working between the various maps between campaign, mm, and probably SO. I was thinking more H5 when I thought of this, but Firefight would be a nice treat since there is no planned SO season 2 and no new map packs. Like you I think it would bring more life into the H4 experience. CV And the way for them to see it is keeping the thread alive with diverse community input and support.
  13. When I compare to Halo 3 it is just for the fact that it seemed to work so well. I like that the game is progressing so long as it does not devolve into another COD hybrid. Advance the game, just keep it Halo. You will never please all the people all the time. That would be insane. CV
  14. I don't think it's too late. I'm not giving up on this game. It has so much potential to rise above the death pool created by COD. We need Halo more than ever before to take fps gaming to the next level. It would be nice if 343 let us play a H5 beta so as to get some community feedback. I played the Reach beta. Given the state of things that's probably a way to go to please the fan base. CV One thing I'd like to see is more UNSC weapons, vehicles and technology influenced by Forerunners, Covenant, Promethean, etc. It's impossible to think we would not be influenced by these cultures. Esp if the USNC scientists are always studying it. There should be some results. CV
  15. I'm all for progressing the game so long as we don't use COD as our model. COD is destroying a generation of gamers. CV
  16. With every new installment since CE there have been critics. It's the way of things. And I like it that each Halo is not like the previous one. My only contribution to this topic is keep evolving the game, but: 1. Keep it fresh and unique ; 2. Keep it from becoming CODish. There is nothing more insulting in my mind than Halo feeling like COD or outsourcing to a map making group that makes COD maps; 3. Weapon balance should be compared to Halo 3, which was ideal from a Halo perspective; 4. Stop limiting Forge and custom game functions. When all else fails it has been the Forge community that has kept Halo alive. Listen to our requests. Bring all vehicles /weapons/granades/back. I'm glad the br is back and the dmr, but our weapon options should be growing not diminishing; 5. Bring back the Flood, keep Promethians (I want Flood infected crawlers) Bring back Brutes, visit another halo ring. More Forerunners. I also think slowing the dmr rof makes more sense than beefing up all other weapons. Having it take more shots not less is more like Halo and less like COD. I'm not one of the big critics of H4. I actually see it as a step above Reach and more similar in movement and jumping to H3. With Reach certain armor types were too OP while others were less. And they removed the BR. And despite the precision editing and zoom glitches, and the not always perfect magnet system the H4 Forge is still leagues ahead of Reach, as witnessed by the improvement with forged maps. CV
  17. Can someone check this as resolved? This guy or kid was on here for a military second in February. CV
  18. Hope I'm there to check it out. Might be date night with my wife. CV
  19. I will be updating it and providing more depth to the items. I also don't think this will be H5, but one would hope the next Gen will have many new functions for Forging. What I wanted to do here is aggregate all the community requests for the future of Forge. I will take the time to provide more substance to the wish list, but I also thought of it as a quick reference to all these community suggestions, complimentary to the discussion on yours and other threads. I will be updating it this weekend. CV
  20. I think that was included above in the summary list. Hey, I have Skype but I need to buy a mic and web can next time at store. As for your suggestion I will be updating and organizing the list in a few days so I will be sure that is in there. CV
  21. Thanks. I definitely plan on keeping the thread organized and up to date. Tell others to post their ideas here too and I will keep them updated up top for easy reference. We always dedicate a great deal of forum space to wishful thinking about Forge with each new game. Most of it goes by unnoticed by the ones who have the power to make at least the most realistic changes. But it never hurts to dream. Esp with the next Gen around the corner. I hope they give us something rethought and revamped as it will it will likely be new code anyhow. It would be a wise investment. CV
  22. It would have been nice to have a palette in Impact with object pieces specific to that building. All you can do is build near it, but there is no way to build anything that fits aesthetically. Urban Bobcat. No success on vehicle spans, sadly. Also did you check out the thread where. Summarized this and some other forge threads? I figured if we could gather the community wishlis into a new thread it would continue the discussion and inspire more ideas. Sent you a personal msg. CV
  23. I miss those Halo 3 ghost jumping tricks. I do think there is some of that back with H4, and was lost a bit with Reach. I would really like to see a return in many ways to the movements in Halo 3. Somehow mixed with the armor abilities and other advances in Halo 4, and likely more in Halo 5. I have every confidence that 343 can help elevate Halo to the top again, but having Map makers that build COD maps too is not my idea of a good fit. Halo is not COD, or BF3 or any other game. But I know it must be difficult trying to balance it all out, keeping the original fans, while attracting a new generation of gamers who have grown up with COD. There has to be a balance, but ultimately Halo needs to stay true to the roots. I've stayed with Halo through thick and thin over the years, have watched and listened as after each new instalment players shed themselves from the game because they didn't want it to change, whether it was Halo 2 or 3. Many of my friends from Halo 2 and 3 left and went to COD. I got a bit bored with Reach and after a while discovered Battlefield 3--but always Halo was in the back of my head. So, when I heard there was a new instalment, I was eager to see what would happen next. For me, Halo 4's campaign can work, if only it is a precursor to a more intense instalment. For me Halo 5 has to be something big, something that will take our breathe away. The campaign, the multiplayer, customs and definitely Forge. The Forge has become an important part of Halo culture. In fact, one might argue that the Forging community is the glue that has kept Halo together, so in my mind I am hoping that moving forward 343 opens up the Forge capabilities and options, expands object libraries and custom games options. For me, as I know it is for you King, there are simply too many limitations with both Forge tools/resources, and the depth of custom game options. As I have stated in other threads, one of the things I wish for in Halo 5, as it concerns the Forge and custom games, is opening up custom games and game variant options, and permitting things like hybrid gametypes and enough flexibility that we can even create more unique gametypes. But of course, it would also be nice to have Assault or play neutral Flag, or a lot of things. 343 I am sure is aware of the community in all its praise and criticisms. One of the reasons why we need expanded forge tools is I think if 343 focused on campaign, Spartan Ops/Firefight and left most of the maps in multiplayer be made by the community, their energy could be driven into the areas they need it to be.
