  1. As you know I am taking a short vacation. One of my projects on this vacation is to finish up some recon work on tbings going into my full Halo novel.that I am writing. So to anyone out here who can help.... please leave a reply. My question is this..... It is a known fact that Installation 00 (lesser ark) is capable of.autonomous ring duplication. One such noted time is.during Halo 3 where the Ark was constructing a replacement Alpha Halo Installation for Guilt Spark. During the time that the AI Bias was around....5 of the original rings were destroyed while being.deployed thru slip space. Is it not completely.feasable that the Ark.afterwards, also.created 5 replacements for the destroyed ones, but were not entirely tied into the Halo Array network since the network.was fired and active prior to the recreation of rings in a timely manner? For those curious... my novel focuses on the colonies of the Unsc that have seperated themselves from the rest of the Unac and Oni....and come across one the 5 rings in hopes to unlock weapons, data and other Forerunner tech to launch a seperatist attack on the Unsc and.remaining covenant.

  3. AI for Blam! is not as simple.as painting a path. There are scripts that need to be rwcompiled as well as collision tie ins for the bsp structure. I get what you are saying though...its just that Blams approach is.not as simple or.refined as other current gen engines.

  5. Usually I love coming in and ******** on peoples hopes and dreams, but I must say you have one creative way of thinking. Although it would be great to see things of this nature added to firefight...it wont happen. Making Firefight forgable cannot be done outside a sandbox. And by sandbox we are not talking about the forge mode. We are talking full fledged complete compiler plus side apps. Unfortunatly the way the Blam! engine and Halo in general is layed out, the AI would require updated pathfinding referrences and scripts to move around altered maps, and respond to diferrent commands. These things are not able to be pulled off in a console environment with Halo. Weather is the other tricky beast. While you can alter what weather is applied, you also have to edit the BSP, which for those who are clueless...BSP is the level mesh itself in a compiled format. Adding weather and altering the weather to another form requires bsp tag edits as well as the forge "in memory" scenario file editing. But you do have some great ideas there my friend. Keep shooting them out and maybe we could see an engine change with future Halo's to use these ideas. It could happen!

    Halo 4 on PC?

    Again, ShockGazm, the 360 is no safer against mods. True fact, more people modded Halo 2 on the Xbox and still do, then there ever was to this day on Halo 2 PC. PC releases in general are usually geard more towards the hardcore architects of the Halo Universe, and not very easy for the novice or casual to pick-up or use. Most hacks and mods anyway, are usually released by the modding community, and fall into the wrong hands or get used for the wrong reason. Stating that the PC is easier hacked or modded is just incorrect in any way.

    Im dying to see this is action by way of a longer vid. I have been doing some testing with the implimentation of recoil on the halo 2 br... and I have to.say it is nice. it adds a nice skill element vs just point a pound away like we do now in halo 2. Now if 343 would just release a few new gameplay vids of it..... i could have a version done and released.

    Biggles.....remember there was an aimbot and auto rapid.fire mod for Reach within 2 weeks of release. Regardless of the platform...cheaters will.find.ways to.cheat. Console is no safer than a PC. Realistically they need to branch back out to PC. Halo PC still to this day jas more active players and servers than any other Halo title. It has a nice steady flow unlike the ups and downs of 3 tbru Reach. Bringing Halo back to PC in a proper way will only help it to crush the competition.

  12. Actually both COnvenant and UNSC used evade from the very beginning. Since Halo 1, all AI characters evaded nades and shots via a "leep" or "dive". All they did was give the player the ability to do the same. It is NOT un-spartany or overpowered. We don't go saying AI that evade nades and get right up close and pummel us to death, are using an overpowered tactic do we? SO why is it so wrong when an enemy player does it? No really, that's a question.... Why is it OK for AI to do it, but not other players. Please clarify the reason behind it please.
  13. I can see them utilizing a "loadout" style sidepiece assigned to the D-Pad. Every Halo game utilized the D-Pad in some way and Reach didn't. It only had the HUD nightvision thing assigned. It would seem rather simplistic in terms of execution to allow players to gain certain usable abilities in-game via customized armor, then using the d-pad to shift in-between those extra abilities. Then again, they could also very easily change it so that instead of cycling grenades with the "B" button, you cycle thru with the d-pad and the "B" button is how we use things like quick sprint and evade when moving or strafing around? As for very tiring CoD comparisons....CoD was NOT the first game on the market to use the rank = extras idea. I think that title goes to Rainbow SIx or Ghost Recon I believe. Personally there is nothing wrong with taking mainstream game ideas and mechanics that better suit the gaming times and including them in titles. Games evolve and so will the way we play them. By the time Halo 99 comes out...I'm sure people will be screaming about it being all controlled by the mind and people will ***** they want their controllers back.
  14. Yeah agreed. Saying tablets will overtake Consoles or even PC's, is like saying that cats and dogs will overtake humanity. Tablets are fad devices with no real horsepower behind them. For what it's worth, lets see some benchmark results from Apple....Oh wait thats right....they conveniently didn't have any on hand and couldn't find anyone who had any. I'm callin horse**** on the whole Apple graphics >Nvidia thing as well. Mobile devices will always suffer. Even when they do have quad-core cpu's inside...the architecture is too small and needs to much voltage to remain at a nominal frequency and threading to operate and produce quality graphics for extended times. Even if they did get games like Halo 4 on them...you'd get like what......20 minutes playtime to a charge?

  16. Basically you will be handed map files for testing. Testing will be done on a private password protected dedicated server. The testers primary goal is to play the weapons and mechanics on all gametypes and.report bugs or.glitches with the content.

In light of 343i not releasing a beta for Halo 4, I have taken it upon myself to attempt to form a team of expert or novice Halo 2 map makers, to assist me in creating Halo 4 assets for Halo 2, in hopes to give the community here, a close as possible Halo 4 experience without the wait. Vyrant Studios is looking for anyone with any type of expereince in halo modification and creation tools that wants to be part of something huge! Even if you dont have the tools, but have expereince, I can provide the HEK tools for you. You may be asking yourself, "But how can you do that"? Simple. By utilizing the cracked and or private builds of the HEK that shipped with Halo 2, I have gained enough knowledge to create and tweak many different types of tags to produce quality content that is as close to Halo as you can get. So now the meat and bones of all this.....here is what I am looking for.... 1. Modelers. Expereince doesn't matter. Either good or bad, I want you to try. Mostly this person or persons, will be dealing with getting game ready models created, and ready to be passed off to me or someone else for texturing and rigging. 2. Tag Creation. This person or people will be needed to tweak and create new tag sets to pull of some or all of the things associated with a particular item or weapon or even mechanic in-game. Things like powerups, HUD work and even effects qualify. 3. Testers. Serious testers may only apply. This beta project will be under extreme wraps and will will only be tested by the team, and will not be released until it is of high enough quality to release to the community. So if you have expereince at all in Halo 2 HEK please drop me a PM or hit me up thru e-mail and we can discuss the project in further detail. As an example, here is some of the things we need off the bat... - Battle Rifle model - New realistic firing gun sounds compiled into Halo 2 sound format and ready for in-game use. - New HUD - Anything else seen so far in the MM gameplay that you want to do.   19. well.what we do know.from novels and such...is that Forerunner technology and.weapons are mostly neural energy based. Meaning that their weapons are similar to plasma.weapons but have a devastating effect on nervous or neural pathways. That being said, I envision the weapons firing similar lasers or sentinel beams with enigmatic particle flows or shapes to the particle projectile physics. Think of what a Proton Pack + Plasma Rifle firing might look like in short bursts....and.viola! Forerunner weapons.
  20. Agreed. Takes like 4 to 6 good dead on shots on a hunter to take one down, yet a big ass tank takes 2 to 3 shots and gets blown to hell?!? And yes that annoying 2 snipe banshee takedown is awefull.

  22. What he mans by color wheel, is being able to manually adjust the hue and saturation. They have these items in shader tags already, so I dont see why they could not adjust the UI to allow it. It would make for a much better customized armor look. Great idea man!
