  1. Welcome to the forums! It really is a great place to discuss Halo, and the community is extremely helpful. Enjoy your time!
  2. No, we're not going to see any more map packs. "The Director's Cut" is a map pack strictly from here, not from 343i themselves. Fan made maps released in a "pack" by the community here.

    Disappointed.

You don't know where to begin? So yeah. Just because you've played all the other games, you know what works? Of course you do. You can see into the future! You obviously know what 343 is going to do, and it just won't work! So tell me, all powerful one, what are the winning powerball numbers for tomorrow's drawing, because I feel the need to win? Get real dude. I've played all of the Halo's as well. You can say Halo 2 was the best all you want. You can say that it was the perfect game. That's still just an opinion that not everybody is going to share. And, get this! I know a ton of CoD fans that have bought every game since CoD4 that refuse to buy MW3 because it is the same game. What say you there?
  4. The DMR (Game Informer photo) had a round scope, if I'm not mistaken. The BR shown in the First Look trailer definitely had a square scope.

    Disappointed.

Halo 2 was far from a perfect game. In your opinion it was perfect, in mine it wasn't. This comparing Halo 4 to CoD really does need to stop. Have you played the game yet? Has anybody, outside of the developers at 343? Can you tell me, honestly, that you know exactly how the items mentioned in Game Informer are going to work or play? Or are you just speculating? Do you know how the so called "Forerunner Vision" works? Or are you just going by what somebody else said? Seriously people. Without having some actual gameplay experience, or even footage, how can we say that this game is going to be like CoD? Without knowing how something works, all we're doing is making wild assumptions, and you know what people say about assuming. As for making Halo 4 successful? What defines success? Cause if it caters to one group of players, the game will slowly die. I'm 27. I've been playing Halo since 2001. I work. I have a life that doesn't revolve around gaming. Do I love gaming? Absolutely. Do I get to play as much as I want? Absolutely not. And I can tell you this, my friends feel the same way, and are in the same boat. -Bringing back numbered ranks is fine, but the system needs refinement. -Making the game competitive? Sure, but as of right now, you don't know how it plays, so wait and see. -Stop being Call of Duty? Well, again, this is another wait and see. We don't know how the game is going to play, but I have faith in what 343 is doing. And if the game comes out and I'm disappointed? So be it. But if it turns out to be the best Halo of the series, and all of you haters don't get it, I'm just going to laugh to myself.
  6. It's square as opposed to round. It's been updated in the near 5 years since we (or the chief, for that matter), have seen it. Is it a big deal? Not really. Maybe it'll give a little wider of a viewing angle. The scoring on the other hand, I'm curious about that, and would like more information about what's going on with that. That one has me scratching my head.
  7. We had a topic about this a while ago that came up with a few ideas. Here. http://www.343industries.org/forum/topic/7127-how-the-betrayl-and-team-mate-damage-system-should-work-in-halo-4/ But it always boils down to the same issue, how do you create a system that can determine an accidental betrayal vs. an intentional betrayal? Friendly fire being turned off seems like an easy solution, but it's really not. Now there's no consequence for shooting a rocket into two teammates fighting two enemies. You get two kills and move on. Same with grenades. What's stopping me from sticking a friend, having him run into a room with enemies to kill them, while he stays alive? It causes too many issues.
  8. So winning is everything? I don't think so. I could be the worst player in the world, but have awesome friends, and we could win 90% of our games and I'd be at a 50 just like them, because they carried me through. No, Halo 2 and Halo 3's ranking needs adjusted, just like Reach's needs adjusted. No system is perfect, and I dare you to tell me otherwise. Halo being on a "HUGE downfall" is a matter of opinion. Could Reach have done some things better? Yes. Could Halo 3 have done some things better? Absolutely. What about Halo 2? For sure. Even CE could have done things better. I like each game for the game. I don't see "Halo" in the title and fawn over it like a little school girl over Justin Beiber. I expect a quality game and a good time. I received that in Reach. If you didn't, that's your problem, but not everybody feels the way you do. That's why we all have opinions.
  9. The thing that I hate most is commodations popping up in the middle of combat. If I'm fighting two guys below me, and I kill one and a commodation pops up that blocks the other from view? Yeah, not so cool. But this is all off topic. The thing is, with Pinnacle and Uncaged gone, they really should have replaced them with two new maps. But 343 is busy focusing on Halo 4 at the moment, and while I'm sure making minor tweaks to playlists should be fairly simple, they do need to take time out to test maps before adding them to a certain playlist. That's probably why we didn't see any replacements.
  10. Being dramatic, am I? Okay then, if it's not going to get you anywhere else, why have it? What purpose would it serve? You'd be surprised at how little it takes to adjust how the game plays.
  11. I play on a fairly large TV, the only time the kill feed ever interferes is when I'm playing split-screen, and even then, it needs to be four players playing before it starts to interfere.
  12. Got the 3 Ring with my original XBox. Sad, sad day because it was a week after Halo 3 came out. Microsoft sent a refurbished one, worked great until it stopped reading discs. New slim works great, though!
  13. Definitely agree. While the idea is interesting, it does make for unbalanced play. Even minor tweaks to things such as jump height and speed will alter game play. I can jump 2% higher than before? Oh look, now I'm up here where nobody else can get to and can just start killing anybody going by.
  14. While I can appreciate wanting the maps back, I don't have an opinion either way with them. People always complain about blue spawn on pinnacle getting screwed, but really it's just a matter of knowing how to play the map. Don't run up the side ramps off blue spawn right at the beginning, it's the quickest way to get shot. I liked both pinnacle and uncaged, but them not being there is fine by me. What's not fine, however, is the fact that they were not replaced. Taking away two options, but not replacing them is a bit stupid, in my opinion. Games of SWAT have really boiled down to Asylum, with a sprinkling of other maps, and it gets extremely frustrating playing Asylum game after game after game.

    Disappointed.

I would Like this, but apparently I've hit my quota for the day? Anyway, I agree with everything you said. You can't argue with sales numbers, you can't argue with the fact that I can go home to play Reach and will always find a game, regardless of what time it is. People do play Reach, and there are some really awesome players that play.
  16. What about "Home" being a page with all of the important information listed? Example: direct links to the forum rules, new members pages, etc. Any articles that would deserve to be there, stuff like that?
  17. I was thinking something along those lines, and IMO it would be awesome.
  18. Quote of the day. We don't want to buy another CoD, it's the same thing over and over, but keep the new multiplayer the same as it was? Isn't that buying the same thing over and over?
  19. Agreed! And welcome iProFrom559. Definitely a nice little spot on the net, and the community really is great. Enjoy your stay!
  20. It all depends on how said "Forerunner Vision" would work. A split second peak at what's on the other side of a wall? That may be okay. If I can run around with it turned on for 5 or 10 seconds? Definitely a balance problem. As for the jetpack vs. thruster pack debate, this throws that into question, doesn't it? While I'm with the feeling that it was more of a thruster pack on the Chief, we haven't seen it in multiplayer yet. Who knows?
  21. But knowing when the Shotgun will return, regardless of whether you had it previously or not, is still a valid strategy. If the weapon is there, why not take it? It's stupid to not, even if you don't plan on using it, at least the other team doesn't have it to use against you.
  22. I know exactly how you're feeling right now. It makes me sad, hearing about some of these things. But, maybe they will be implemented wonderfully. I hope so. I'm not going to touch on all of these things in your post, which is why I cut it down to the one that I have an opinion on. Perhaps the Assault Carbine is similar to the BR, in that it's a covenant weapon with a 3-round burst instead of just the one shot regular Covenant Carbine.
  23. Oh I agree completely. The problem is, there are a ton of people that want the game to go back to the way Halo 3 was. Your comment about Halo 3.5 is perfect. I don't personally believe that 343 is going to make a game that is anything like CoD, but without changes to the core game itself (and they don't need to be drastic changes, but if they are for the better, great), it runs the risk of becoming CoD like, in that it could end up being the same game over and over. All I want from 343 is a game that feels like Halo, plays like Halo, and reminds me why I love Halo. What I don't want is a copy of Halo 3 with better graphics, and when 5 comes out, I don't want it to be a copy of 4.But that's all beside the point, because I believe they will do it proper justice, if Anniverary is any sign of things to come.
  24. Why not add something constructive to this, instead of a one word response that means very little? Seriously. If you don't like any of the ideas, give a reason why. Explain what you don't like, come up with alternatives, something. Not just "No".
