The popular prequel to the hit Halo 3, Halo 3: ODST, is coming to Halo: The Master Chief Collection along with a remake of the popular Halo 2 map, Relic!

 

I'm not kidding, I shivered with excitement when I saw this post because of my immense love for Halo 3: ODST and my love for Relic. On HaloWaypoint.com, Bonnie Ross revealed what's in store for fans who were disappointed with the rocky launch of Halo: The Master Chief Collection. Some small bonuses are a month of Xbox Live Gold and a nameplate and avatar in-game. The bigger bonuses, if you've played Halo: TMCC from it's launch to today you can pick up Halo 3: ODST and the Halo 2 map Relic, both redone in 1080p 60fps, with Relic getting the anniversary treatment and ODST being up-scaled. A general release gate of Spring 2015 has been revealed but 343i has promised more on the two in the upcoming months. The sad news, if you haven't bought Halo: The Master Chief Collection before this date (19.12.14), you aren't entitled to any of the aforementioned content for free besides the Relic remake, and might not be entitled to it at all unless 343i decides to sell it. On the subject of ODST, it seems to only be the campaign that's being ported as of yet.

This is fantastic news and is most certainly a great way to repay fans who were disappointed, I am extremely proud of 343i and Microsoft for putting resources into listening and giving us what we want. I'm glad they understood how upset the community was, and they delivered. I don't mind the fact that it's free to those who had the game during the time period. It was a thank you for the fans sticking with them through all the torment. Good on yah 343. Made a good number of people happy.

Great to see some little extra's throws our way to apologize for the rocky launch. Maybe we might see some more additions in the future! :D

I do kind of wonder how they register the people who played it in the given time frame. How about the people who just played the campaign offline?

Come to think of it they haven't had any trouble with matchmaking while playing offline the entire time, but stil...

And will these people be able to download it through payment or something at all???

 

Anyway it's a great gesture!

I bought it close to launch and just beat all the campaigns, however I haven't played multi player yet. Am I still eligible for the free items? Also I have been connected to xbox live while playing the campaigns most of time.

Yes, as long as you played Halo: The Master Chief Collection with Xbox Live connected, you're good.

I paid for Halo MCC close to launch and completed all the campaigns but i had no reason to go out and buy live to only play Halo and to struggle to get into matches for Halo MCC, Will i miss out of the bonus items.

I'm afraid I don't think so, because if you don't have Live you likely weren't connected to the internet and ergo not considered 'online' by 343i. I'd like to also point out in response to your second post we are not 343i or Microsoft affiliated, so complaints here will do nothing to phase either.

343, thank you. You certainly went above and beyond to apologize to us, and giving us ODST, the new maps, xbox live and perks certainly makes me happy. Consider yourself forgiven in my book. 

 

All that I ask is that you please take that extra step and bring back coop firefight - I'd even be willing to pay for it.  

 

My most fond memories were of me and my friends making through "just one more round" of firefight, and based on the reaction of all the news outlets, even they agree that the absence of it is a shame. Once again, I'm not putting down the amount of effort you're putting into making this all right - all I'm saying is that I, and the community would probably not mind waiting an additional month if needed to have ODST as a whole package, exactly the way we remember it with both campaign and firefight included as one cohesive experience.

 

I certainly appreciate the effort in doing right by your fans, and you have. All that I ask is to take that extra time to include that one mode that gave me the most memorable halo moments I've had in a very long time.

It makes me happy to see there are people like you who appreciate whats 343Industries doing for Halo Nation.Even if they have made mistake and that is how exactly Halo fan looks like.Not like those criticizing and judging 343Industries for MCC issues.

I understand that this is for people who stuck threw all 343's screw ups but what about people like me? I wasmt able to pay for a new Xbox one or MCC and I love ODST do you think you will put in on a disc?? Please id love this.

 

There won't be a free way to get it for those who didn't play before the 19th, however I don't think 343i won't release it for a price eventually.

   Really glad 343i are doing this. Relic has always been one of my favorite Halo mutiplayer maps ever since I bought the Halo 2 multiplayer map pack disk. Can't wait to see it get the graphical overhaul that Ascension, Lockout, Sanctuary, Warlock, and Zanzibar got. It'll also be interesting to see how they'll work in an interactive map element. Also, I really hope they keep the teleporter that you had to activate in the original. Always thought that was a cool feature. ODST is also a nice addition. Shame it won't include firefight, though.

A little disappointed that I won't be able to get any of the bonuses, but at least ODST is back!!!

I was so sad when I upgraded to Xbox One and wasn't able to play it anymore :3

 

Even though I did like ODST, there were a few problems I had. I thought some of the maps were

really confusing, and the mission objective wasn't always clear. Did anyone else have this

problem? Or is that just me...
