I still don't quite understand this perk.... Does it mean you have a larger blast radius but deal less overall damage? Does it mean that you have a larger blast radius and receive less damage from enemy greandes? I really don't know... There hasn't been much confirmation on this as the devs almost never respond to any of the questions that the community asks which really bothers me. I remember that the bungie forums had at least SOME degree of possible response from a dev or two but with 343 it's almost dead silent.

 

Coming from the bioware forums, the halo community sadly doesn't have much support from the devs and there doesn't appear to be much communication at all... I'm just going back to ME since I'm so confused on so many aspects of this game....

I hope you two aren't looking for a dev on this site, as this isn't the official forum for 343 or Halo, this is just a fan run community forum. You're more likely to get a dev response over at the Waypoint forums, however even there it seems to be a rare occurance.

 

As for the OP, I very rarely ever use explosives, I don't find it helps all that much, personally. I really like Dexterity, and use that as my main choice for pretty much all of my loadouts.

Dexterity is great. I'll use Dexterity and Firepower. It usually works great!

I don't use this perk. And I don't have any problems with grenades.

 

In this same boat. Main perk I use is Firepower, because I often find myself out of DMR ammo and having to switch to my BR for more kills. This is more common on BTB.

It makes more sense once you get over there. The halowaypoint forum is harder to navigate, gets about as much attention from 343 as this one does, and it seems to lag out and fail quite a lot. I was very sorry to find that it felt more appropriate for Halo 4. I posted in a thread just last night and wanted to see what responses had been posted this morning, I cannot find that friggen thread, and I had even left my computer on hibernate in order to be sure I wouldn't lose my place.

 

Back on topic, I enjoy the Explosives perk in one loadout designed for smaller maps, but it's really not worth it in many more. In BTB I run ammo and mobility. Usually I try to make something more tailored to the needs of the game I'll be playing next (Like awareness when I hope to get a sniper rifle, and sensor when I hope to get a vehicle, etc.). It can be tricky sometimes when a map that challenges your loadout gets voted in, but the loadouts are designed to have a small impact on gameplay, so I never feel too far behind.

If it increased your grenade damage then yes, it would be overpowered. However it doesn't, I hardly even notice the radius increase and the damage reduction is minimal. You can still one shot an enemy after landing a frag at their feet and sticking someone is still a one hit kill. I actually don't use it very much because I rarely find it as useful as other support packages, especially the specialisation ones.

Yeah dude, I've never used this package and I have a good Win / Loss and a great Kill / Death. I think it's fine how it is. Grenades on Reach were bad.....

Use the Thruster Pack. It's great for dodging grenades. Also, as far as I can see, the point of grenades isn't to get those kills, but it's to take the opponents shields down so you can one shot them. At least that's how I tend to use them.

This, its exactly what I do great for dodging grenades.
