  1. Everyone plays the game differently. People complaining about teammates has been going on since Halo 2 was online. Personally, I'm a guy who goes for kills in Objective because I take a defense-first approach. What I've found typically helps with randoms is to just get on a mic and try to rally the troops. If a team truly cares about winning, they will usually attempt to stick to a general gameplan if no one else is speaking up.
  2. It never was. Elitists just got butthurt that they couldn't get a kill they thought they were entitled to. Basically if they shot first, they thought the opponent should just hurry up and die because they were gods gift to Halo. Armor Lock worked exactly as intended, it was never anything more or less than what it should have been. That, and the haters hilarious claimed to be good players and that Armor Lock was for noobs, but if they were as good as they said they were, they'd be playing against other high skilled players who clearly chose to use Armor Lock, not making it a noob armor ability.
  3. What I don't like is the butthurt BK's who still think this is 2007. Bungie's mantra was to never make the same game twice, and all people seem to expect is for 343 to essentially remake Halo 3 and call it Halo 4.
  4. Skill rank coming, more maps coming, if you die too fast, get better, most in-depth service record in-game in a Halo game ever, Slayer Pro to eliminate ordinance and get fixed weapon spawns, delay in pulling up after sprinting is good for the game.
  5. 1.) DLC maps are coming; you can't fault players for voting on what they want. I'd prefer the Halo 3 voting system, but players have made it abundantly clear that what matters most to them is they want mulitple options to pick from so they can get what they want all the time. I don't like it, but the majority does. 2.) Specialty playlists are always on rotation. Nothing new. 3.) I think you are confusing EXP ban with EXP cap. Statistics have shown that only ~1-2% of the H4 population is hitting the cap. You are the 1%. 4.) There has never been a system to boot AFK in any console game I can think of other than Left 4 Dead. 5.) This is true. 6.) DMR will likely be "balanced out" or something of the like during the first TU. Lastly, it makes absolutely no sense to claim that 343 is "starving" gamers for more maps to boost sales. If you can't make a product that people enjoy, they aren't going to be compelled to spend more money on it. It's an asinine statement to make. It's been 2 weeks since H4 came out. It took Halo 3 SIX MONTHS for its first title update and 343 is trying to roll theirs out with a ranking system in TWO. Cut them some slack.
  6. I find it hard to believe that you're telling the truth about one of these two statements and as such, I can't take your post seriously.
  7. With the number of people complaining about Blops2, I assume an equal number are coming over to Halo 4. I really don't know if I'm reading some hidden news source, but are you aware that 343 is going to be continually updating Matchmaking? They've already added SWAT, Snipers is coming on Monday, and I'm quite certain that BTB Objective, Multi-Team, Assualt, etc, will all find their way back. This is the trial run. The ranking system is coming, more maps are coming, more playlists are coming. This is all a very good litmus test for 343. They can collect data to see what's working. Remember, this is 343's FIRST full game handling Matchmaking. Why not ease into it, instead of just loading up an extra 10-15 playlists and diluting out the playing population. It will improve. We'll likely have a Title Update, new maps and a ranking system within two months. It took Halo 3 almost 6 MONTHS for their first TU.
  8. I agree on the point about BR vs. DMR. Actually, I'm an almost exclusive BR guy, and I've really not encountered too many issues against the DMR, except that I think it's way OP at long range. On a map like Ragnarok, I can be getting shot at long range like it's no issue for the other player. The bloom really needs to increase on the DMR.
  9. Trying to get a coherent sense of what the community would like to see here. If modifications were made to multiplayer like: - Traditional 1-50 ranking system - Slayer Pro (with radar) - DMR nerf - Grenade buff - Removal of Mantis from ranked matches Would this be enough to praise the H4 MM? I feel like 343 is really close to getting this right, but obviously are trying different things out to A.) put their own spin on things and B.) to see what does/does not work. I can't help but think that there are a lot of people who just don't have the attention span to wait a month or two for a ranking system, but I feel like a lot of people would be quick to call Halo #1 again if it just had that. I feel that the suggestions listed above bring this game closer to H2/3 which was Halo's Golden Age. Please share your thoughts.
  10. I was about to write a post along the lines of "Really? You people still want more armor?". Then I saw your comment and was like "WTF....yea I definitely want that." That helmet is still on my H3 service record.
  11. I want to see Sandtrap, Rat Race, Blackout and High Ground.
  12. One thing I learned a long time ago in college athletics from my coach, "Play the game for the result (win/loss), not the number (stats)".
  13. Actually, I'd say Battlefield has the most quitters. Games are a lot longer and teams are bigger. With so many people playing and large map size, people dropping in/out usually go unnoticed.
  14. Bring 1 Flag CTF back. It was the bomb. Speaking of bomb, get Assault back in here, it rocked as well.
  15. Less time having to find players to start a matchExperience points for completing a match that you only partially participated in Going into a game with balanced teams Less time waiting for everyone to vote on a map, load said map, and establish a connection to start the match. Not saying I like "join in", but those would be some obvious pros.
  16. What I'd personally like: Objective playlist: Assault/CTF/Oddball variants FFA: Slayer, Juggernaut, Ninjanaut, Regicide, KoTH Multi-Team (2v2v2v2) Maps: I will pay for old content! Give me classic maps like Sandtrap, Rat Race, Warlock, Lockout/Blackout, Guardian, Sidewinder/Avalanche, High Ground, etc. This would make H4 a complete experience for me! I know a lot of people loathe paying for old maps, but I love being able to continue playing old favorites in the newest Halo.

    SWAT

Okay, well my k/d is 1.5 ...does that make my point better or worse than yours? No, so save your personal skill argument. Believe it or not, and this works wonders for me, you can listen to the footsteps of other players getting close in SWAT.....so common sense would tell you, if you hear footsteps coming, and you don't see a teammate icon on your HUD, it's an enemy. Look, I'm sorry for being rude, but your argument is very narrow. Melee is, and always has been, a part of Halo, and certainly part of SWAT. You can't just nerf melee damage in SWAT because you think it's cheap. Go slower around corners, hold down an area of the map and wait for the opponent to come to you, back away from your opponent while training your sights at their head, etc. There are a number of ways to avoid being melee'd. EDIT: I think I've been melee'd 2-3 times in SWAT so far. Not saying that since it doesn't bother me it's not a problem, but I feel that it's far from an epidemic worth complaining on a forum about.
  18. It's one of my favorite Big Team/Objective maps ever. I fail to see how Ragnarok is a bad map. There's camping in just about every map ever, so this one really isn't anything different from the norm.
  19. I'm not a network configuration guru, but it seems like this would open a whole can of worms. Back in H3, I know they did something similar to this because of the "shotgun lag"...basically two players shot at each other with a shotgun, whoever had the better connection would get the kill, regardless of small variations in timing of the shot. After the fix, the duel would essentially end in a tie, with both players dying. Personally, I can think of 2, maybe 3 games so far where lag has been an issue to the point of competitiveness being noticably affected. In my opinion, this is where quitting out could be beneficial, since there is no penalty for doing so in H4. I understand that there's the whole issue of not wanting to leave a match if you're playing with friends, etc. I just feel that essentially evening the playing field, while a positive, would still lead to more complaining for the sake of complaining and is an issue best solved by the end user, not 343. Also, lol @ OP. No need to list your rank in older Halo's to make your point. If anything, I think less of your post because you're trying to bolster the validity of your claims. If you can make a good point, it will stand up on it's own.
  20. I hear what you're saying and agree with a lot of it. For full disclosure, I think I was blinded by the hype of Reach. I ate it up, loved it, raved about it to friends (and I am one of your aforementioned "Day 1 H:CE players"). I look back on it now and think, "wow, Reach was actually extremely forgettable". I put it down a couple months after release and never looked back. Almost 5000 games of Halo 3 played and less than 1000 in Reach. That says it all for me. Truthfully, I had the most memories with Halo 2, but I had the most fun with Halo 3. This is not at all to say that I dislike Halo 4; again, I am a big fan so far. If Bungie had just canned the Halo series after Halo 3, and spent their time just maintaining the multiplayer and continuing to roll out new maps, I'd be behind that 100%. As a dedicated fan, it hurts a little just to admit that, but my personal preference is with the older games. However, that does not mean that I can't get behind Halo 4. It's the closest game to my personal tastes since H3, and I can recognize that the Halo series still has a lot to offer. I just have a hard time believing that so many don't see that with Halo 4 or that they're just so vehemently opposed to any new bells and whistles added into the game. It sucks too how the community shrinks over time and gets crushed when a new Halo or CoD comes out. Most everyone wants to be playing the new big game, and I just don't like perfectly good games being left in the dust. I would love it in 2014 if 343 released an H2:Anniversary and brought all the maps back online. If they could keep the physics and gameplay the same, H2 would be back, for good. But enough whining. My whole point is just that no one seems to be able to agree on what it would take to make a good Halo game. As much as the current game gets flamed, when the new one comes out people will say it's broken compared to the last one. The sense of entitlement is astounding sometimes. The perfect Halo game has never existed, but at least they try to change things up. EDIT: If I could define what makes the perfect Halo game: I'd say combine all the maps from H2/3 and give it H3's multiplayer with the option to choose AR/BR start as your loadout, nothing more.
  21. You guys DO know that a competitive ranking system is coming out....right?
  22. I am in 100% agreeance with this statement.
  23. I agree with both points, and that's basically the subversive message I'm trying to send. I don't see the merit in creating a game that has essentially already been made (kinda adds to the CoD argument anyway: releasing the same game over and over). Halo has an amazingly large number of gamers who seem to complain just for the sake of complaining. From what I've gathered, the situation is basically like the ending of the movie, War Games - "The only way to win is to not play". lol I'm nearly convinced at this point that fans would prefer for there to be no new Halo and just leave H2 and H3 online forever. Honestly, I would have loved a Halo 3 with every multiplayer map from the first 3 games, but that clearly wasn't happening even though H3's final map list was impressive. If and when H2:Anniversary makes it's way out, it would be a joy to play those maps online again.
  24. I'd prefer for Halo 3's Multi Team to return.
  25. Just curious. How many hours would it take for you to hit the XP cap in a given day?
