  1. The awards are really cool and help build the community, makes the forum feel unique. Working on that pink gem
  2. Yeah, Halo4 needs a long range precision weapon. Big maps like sandtrap show that the there are no weapons for long range apart from the sniper rifle, so a DMR with a fire rate limiter instead of bloom would be a great addition. Maybe a forerunner revision if theres too many human weapons.
  3. Think Im getting the hang of this!

  4. Is bloom a good mechanic? Do you like bloom? People feel really strongly about this mechanic, mainly because its one of the core parts of Reach. Often times people decided to stay or leave based off bloom alone because it touches almost every part of the game. So what is your opinion? I really dont like bloom. I feel that it often cheats the players and favors randomness instead of skill. There are times when I kill someone and I know I did not deserve that kill, that my accuracy and pacing was crap but the random number generator decided to give me the kill. I hate that, nobody should get kills that they do not deserve. And thats why I think its a bad mechanic. No matter how good you are at controlling bloom, you cannot kill people fast enough to stop this from happening. My two best examples are the responses for why people left Reach, and the fact that MLG dropped bloom. If it is designed to give better plays a bigger advantage, then the best players, the MLG pros, should be the biggest supporters. Instead they completely got rid of it. Now people like to say bloom has been in every halo game, that it went unnoticed because bungie did not bring attention to it and the reticle does not expand and theyre partly true. You can find a form of bloom in atleast one weapon in every game. But when you test it out you see it is very different from the bloom in Reach. One of the main reasons why its rather hidden is because the BR does not have it. I tested for bloom yesterday with Heroicmime and we found a form of it, but only the AR had it. Even more strange is the fact that the bloom can kill people. We had each other stand outside the ARs reticle and almost killed each other. The spiker, SMG, carbine, and most importantly, BR do not have any bloom. After testing it, I really think there the bloom should be two different types because they behave so differently. In the trilogy, its very difficult to find the bloom and it doesnt matter in most situations. Just pointing your weapon and pulling the trigger is enough to kill an enemy, they are designed to kill quickly and efficiently. Bloom only comes into play to limit one weapon, just as recoil is used to limit the power of the SMG. So I think this bloom should be called version1 or the "limiter bloom." The second bloom in Reach is on every weapon and really dominates the game. In reach, pulling the trigger on most weapons will only get you a kill after a waste of bullets and time. The weapons are designed to be....well rather bad, they are inefficient, "fussy" and are really only capable of getting a single kill. Instead of everyone being capable of getting a kill it takes skill, which is really frustrating for new players. Instead of learning to strafe, aim, and control the situation, you really have to wrestle with the bloom of each weapon and learn how exactly to control it in every situation. So this bloom should be called version2 or "control bloom." And thats the one I dislike. To me it changes the core feel of halo and makes it not fun. If it was so random, had a rhythm, or was much weaker, then it would much easier to like it and reach. So what do you think?
  5. Were getting off topic here, this thread is suppose to be about what would make you hate halo4. Its suppose to show what people think would change halo beyond what they can have fun with. Lets make a new thread to get into a really good discussion about bloom instead of cluttering up this one, because we both feel pretty strongly about our views.
  6. Bloom has NOT been in every Halo. It was only in HaloCE and barely affected the game at all. You have to test for it to actually find it. So saying that its been in every Halo game is really not true. Saying bloom is a good mechanic is completely untrue. Bloom is Reach's untamed monster and is the main reason why the game is unpopular. The fact that most people left because of bloom shows that it must have failed, look at this thread! Many people have said the return of bloom would make them leave. Also, MLG dropped bloom. Those two facts are enough to show why its bad, and thats without going into the effects of it in gameplay. Change is good, change makes great games even better. But bloom is a great example of bad change. The core "feeling" and gameplay of Halo was changed in a negative way by bloom, and people left the game because of it.
  7. I really feel that armor abilities should not return in Halo4 and instead equipment and power ups come back. AA's could have been awesome but were badly implemented in Reach. Seeing them in halo4 will taint it for players who left, and I dont want that happening. Id rather have them be revived in a possible Halo5, WITHOUT armor lock and active camo.
  8. Hey man! Totally confused me using your PSN name xDD
  9. As long as most medals are difficult to obtain that wont be a problem. Maybe we could change to a Pin and medal system. That way, small things like lasers, headshots, beatdowns, etc are pins and are easy to get, while flag captures, bomb plants, killing sprees are medals and are hard to get.
  10. Think he means he'll be angry if theres no ranking system, not that hes against it. Btw, part of the ranking system is to put similar skilled players together. That way, noobs can learn from each other, good players can trust each other, and tryhards can compete together. Theres more to it than being 50 (or maybe 100).
  11. What would make you quit halo? What is your "deal breaker" for Halo4? Everyones posting about they want in Halo4 and its alot of fun to do so. But what would cause you to stop playing halo? For me, the inclusion of bloom would make me leave. I find bloom extremely frustrating and not at all like classic Halo. I feel that it slows down the game and allows randomness to occur. Also, if ranks or player grouping is not included I doubt I will play much. I find it really frustrating to play with people both better and worse than me. Its not fun to stomp noobs or get destroyed by much better players game after game, I want to play close intense games. Those are the games I remember, those are the games were funny stuff happens.
  12. Well "shooting blanks" and "plastic guns" are interchangeable. But 3 flag caps should definitely be "Hat trick," great idea! Then maybe 5 caps would be "All your base." Because more internet memes is always better
  13. Sure, send me a request and when i finally get on we'll play but I should have it waaaaay before halo4!
  14. Bet you can guess mine =P but my xbox isnt working right now so i cant play with anyone D: and i dont play Reach too much since i have a squad who always pulls me into BF3.
  15. Nice! Nothing new but its a great find! Btw is that Keyes in the UNSC uniform? I cant tell.
  16. Im all hyped for new info! Is there anything yet?
  17. YES! That is strategy to me! I would LOVE it if Reach played like that! Unfortunately you are unique, most players dont play in complex styles like that. That is my issue with armor abilities, they could have been wonderful tools to vary the gameplay and make good players unique but that hasnt happened. Instead they really slow down the game and create crappy situations that are not fun to play. IMO, if the AA's had simply been different abilities, more offensively keyed, Reach would have been a success. Because there is only 1 true offensive ability that makes you want to engage others; jetpack! If they were more similar to jetpack Reach would be plain fun.
  18. Its always funny to me when people complain about the TU ruining Reach. Its like their oblivious to how much people hate vanilla reach and how many people left because Bungie refused to update their game. You can still find the vids on youtube of avid fans begging for bloom and armor lock to be fixed or threatening to leave. Plus people are starting to come back, the population has doubled and is continuing to grow. Im loving 343i. I really love Anniversary, both campaign and multiplayer, I like the TU updates, even if theyre small for now, I love the playlist updates, especially for living dead, and I love how their doing this slowly to gauge how the changes are liked by the community. Right now their doing more for Reach than bungie ever did.
  19. Yeah totally agree. 4 shot feels the perfect fit as it gives players just enough reaction time but not enough delay to run away. Unless bloom comes back, at which point the system is screwed and frustrating. I really want more weapons you can rely on in Halo4. Atleast in Halo3 almost everyone weapon had the potential to kill the enemy, but in Reach most of the covenant weapons are horrible. Itd be great to see the SMG return, maybe as the silenced SMG to give it more of an identity. And I really think the AR should have more range, so your not forced to finish off with a melee or reload to get the kill. I guess I want more variety between the weapons, so theres always an advantage to what your picking up while the BR is the best at all engagements. That would lead to very tactical play, like picking up the SMG makes to try and control the battle so you only face enemies in close range.
  20. Whoa how is that possible? Why would the UNSC be able to create such powerful soldiers with nobody left to fight? The only reason Halsey got away with making SPARTAN II's is because of the covenant war.
  21. They should rename assist sprees: 5 is "Kill stolen," 10 is "bad luck," 15 is "True Wingman" and getting 20 assists in a game gets you "Real friend." Headshot medals, non-sniper: 5 is "Headcase," 10 is "In the crosshairs," 15 is "Pew Pew Pew" 10 headshots with a sniper is "BOOM headshot!" Deathstreaks: 5 is "Bad luck," 10 is "Shooting blanks," 15 is "Plastic guns." Beatdowns: 5 is "Strong arm," 10 is "HULK SMASH," 15 is "Falcon punch!" Oh, 3 flag caps in a game is "All your base" I think those are some fun medals.
  22. The elephant returns!!!!! It carries a warthog, tank, and 2 mongeese with 3 turrets and a missile pod >
  23. No, the spartan III's are suicide troops made to be sent on kamikaze missions. Out of the 3 batches of spartan III's known to be trained, the first was completely obliterated, the second had 2 survivors, and the third had some unknown amount of survivors and one team trapped inside the shield world of Onyx with Halsey and a team of spartan II's. So there should be around 250 spartan III's at the most at the time of reach, unless they were all sent on another suicide mission to die. The game completely breaks with cannon in every form, even the type of armor spartan III's wear.
  24. Did you actually read everything he said?
