Halo 4 ranking system: How it will work.

While you're free to your opinion, I personally think it's downright silly to dismiss the game just because it doesn't have a certain ranking system. I don't care what kind of system they use, I care more about the campaign's story, music, and atmopshere, as well as the gameplay more so than a ranking system. It doesn't really bother me that much that they're not using a 1 - 50 system, because I honestly couldn't care less about something like that. I just want to enjoy the gameplay and have fun playing against others. That's all that matters to me when it comes to matchmaking.

Don't you think you should at least give the game a fair and honest chance before writing it off like that? Sure they're not going with a ranking system you like, but is the ranking system really more important to you than the campaign and actual multiplayer/gameplay?

i'm totally on your point

The MLG players only got to play custom games at the VIP party. Not online matchmaking. I'm willing to bet the spartan points apply even to custom games. I expect the online matchmaking system is a completely seperate issue from what the MLG players got, considering they didn't play online.

Currently, we have no information regarding what any playlists will be like. We shall still search for it, though.

Nobody says they won't have one. The video referenced in the OP never says that there won't be a 1-50 system. Keep your fingers crossed.

Oh ok pointless post by me then...

Well there is still hope none the less. If they don't do the old 1-50 system hopefully they are implementing something related to this EXP that a components similar to the old system.

There is, if you have read, both a EXP system along with the Spartan points system. EXP, being for ranking.

It is now confirmed, thanks to Deadlysniper19, who found the video containing content from the recent MLG group that got to play. This video confirmed that there will not in fact be a 1-50 ranking system, as some will find disappointing, but a halo reach system, simply modified with EXP as opposed to credits. Not only that, but the same video confirmed that they will in fact be using a slightly modified version of the halo reach engine. There for, almost similar styled matchmaking, other than the loose tie up to the campaign.

At no point in the video did it every say that the 1-50 ranks, or a similar system, will not appear in Halo 4. All we got from the video is that we will be earning xp and that the post game update status is like Reach's.

Yes, we realized... That is what we were discussing. You saw the 49 in that picture? That could, we were guessing, be a 1-50 rank. So, 49 would equal reclaimer... So, we are not sure, but very possible.

Check my last reply bro. I think everybody is confusing the spartan point system (which is like reach's) with the actual online matchmaking. We've yet to see the online matchmaking system but I hope it's 1-50 as well.

As far as we have seen, and are assuming, it is both. The reach rank will also come with a number (eg. 50=inheritor, 1=recruit, etc.). The spartan points are earned every time you go up a rank. (eg. 1, recruit, to 2, private, and # of spartan points awarded). This is as far as we know; and assume it is relatively correct.

What are we refering to here? If it's the OP where it's stated that there is no 1-50, don't read too much into that, because it hasn't been confirmed nor denied.

I'm referring to the fact that they haven't confirmed or denied 1-50, yet somehow leaked other parts of the ranking system. Not sure how much longer I can wait for this.

Oh well guys. Just worry about having fun and your KD. I see all of these Mythics and Nobles who have a KD of .67 or less. Just because they have a higher level doesn't make them good. So go show them up.

Skill needs to be rewarded. That was my problem with Reach.

When I play Halo 3, I ALWAYS check the highest skill of everyone in the game just to get

a lil taste of what I'm up against.

Agreed. As long as a skill system is confirmed to be implemented, I will look forward to being a high rank, whereas a reach high rank was meaningless.

  • 1 month later...

Like was stated before in a different thread, a ranking system doesn't make or break the competitiveness of a game. It only shows, visually, how good you are. See, I simply don't care. What does this rank get me in life? Nothing. What does no visual rank take from me? Bragging rights about how much I play a video game? So what? My job and life/family is more important. Get real about this.

This may seem crazy, but what if we got points not on how many people we killed in matchmaking but based on how high ranking they are. Like in campaign where if you kill a lekgolo you get more points than an unggoy. If you get pitted against reclaimers you should get more pay than if you were going against privates. It would be an incentive for lower ranking people not to back out of a game if the enemy team is stacked(when is it not).
