  1. I will say this here to you and all of the members. I like you guys the way you are, your original names. I know that some of you change your name more than I can remember. I hope that you keep your current name Ash.
  2. I will be giving away some small Halo and XBOX trinkets tonight. Just be here and be an active member.

  3. Thank you FIREN4 for bring this thread back to life. We need some loving here!
  4. I am not technical expert by any means of the imagination, but it is my simple under standing that the H3 engine will be used for Halo 4 along with the Reach engine. I would think that would give life to, and the desire to maintain, the Halo server. I honestly do not know the difference, or what others may refer to as, the Halo 3 server and engine. That said, I would hope that the Halo 3 game would always stay in play to allow any one, new or old to the series, to enjoy the game in it's closest semblance to the original Halo 2 match making. Halo 2 will most likely never return. It is, and always will be the original and true Halo match making experience, and will live on in the hearts of those who played it. Remaking the game as 343i did with HCEA will not bring it back. Halo 3 has a chance of surviving like the OP said, if we can just show the fans support.
  5. I have seen cases in this forum and others that clearly show the failure of the automated ban system. Here is a current case in point posted by a new member DethDale. "I have been an active gamer for multiple years and pride myself in sportmanship and honesty in playing. Recently, my children became old enough to join the Halo family and I purchased a XBOX Live family account adding my two children and my wife to my account. To my disappointment, the ability to play Halo online with my family was quickly tarnished by a credit ban placed on all 4 of our accounts and my console. Apparently, my children and wife who are newer at the game and are still challenged at gaining kills appear as AFK according to the automated ban process used in the games. We even set the "skill" option to find players of comparable skiill to be turned on. My children were disheartened and my wife was frustrated. Even worse is that I received zero warning by XBOX, Bungie, Online or 343. I had no idea why it happened, and took hours of research to begin unravelling this issue. Please consider other variables to more accurately determine fraud on the system. My wife and children actively, move, shoot, change weapons, reload, throw grenades and other various actions that would certainly dictate them not as AFK. Please change this automated net, or we risk losing the future of young gamers if the difference between a novice player and one committing fraud is non distinguishable." Gamer Tag : DethDale, DethLisa, DoubleBar, KJDethKids Yet another story from Lexter: Gamer Tag: Lexster905 - Ban = Temporarily Banned from earning Credits. This ban began on the evening of 19Jan2012, EST. This is a new game for my 9 year old. She has been playing for ~ three weeks and is learning the game. She plays with her Aunt and a select group of experienced players who are online friends of my sister (her Aunt) for safety precautions. They play nightfall daily to help her learn the parameters of the game and advance her skills. Her Aunt says they "SPAWN" on her. My daughter was very excited to learn the game and is now very dissapointed that she cannot earn credits along with everyone else. This temporary Ban has been going on for six days now. We have no idea why she was banned from earning credits or how long this ban will take. I would hope that this will be resolved ASAP with an explanation of what the infingement was, if any, so that she can avoid it in the future. As a consumer, I am highly unsatisfied with this type of unprofessional communication. I shouldn't have to guess why a game that I paid $50 dollars for is now limited for what I can see, is no violation at all. It would be a good business move to include the reason and the extent of "penalties" assessed. I purchased the Xbox and Xbox LIVE and Halo purely for the purpose of my child being able to connect wtih the group online which she has been playing with. Currently, I feel as if it was a waste of $600. I am hoping you can resolve my frustration and buyers remorse and turn it into a positive experience for all of us. Looking forward to your reply, Frustrated Consumer I can list numerous more examples but........ These are a prime example of how the auto ban system fails the very players that were sought after by Microsoft and Bungie to play their hit games. Remember that, and I quote, "Microsoft spent more than $40 million marketing Halo 3.. The goal of the campaign was to sell more Xbox 360 consoles and widen the appeal of the game beyond the "Halo faithful" to casual as well as hardcore gamers." That info is generated by this article and referred to in Wikipedia under the "Release" topic, middle page. The same held true for Reach, they desired and designed a game for the more casual player and though the marketing numbers were never released, as stated here, Reach was even supposed to be more user friendly to the casual player. There are many young players, complete novices and just players who try to learn, but have no one to teach them the basics, that are constantly getting caught in the ban net. They were marketed to by the vary companies that sell the system, Gold Memberships and games and have now banned them from earning credits for being inexperienced. This could be your family, your friends, that are being punished for trying to learn a game and a controller that is completely foreign to them. We, most of us, take for granted our mastery of the controller and ability to move and kill in the game. It has become second nature to us. Telling new players to play campaign or customs to learn is no answer when they have every right to play a game on a system they paid hundreds for and on a subscription whose annual fee is $60.00, or more for Family Packs, and a game that initially cost in excess of $60.00. The families, much like the one given as an example above, should be allowed to have fun online just like we do. Offer any real and legitimate answers or opinions.
  6. I understand and appreciate your issues with the ban. It is not ours though. We are able to look up the reason for bans by reviewing accounts. I know how fun it is in match making, but please consider playing a custom game. You can show them all the skills they need and have fun as a family. I will always add new players to one of my accounts friends list and work with them to teach them the ropes. I will PM (private message) you one of my accounts and you can send a friend request there. I play with a fun, mature group that enjoys helping new players and we are kid friendly, as most have youngsters of their own.
  7. Game on! I have some talent. Which reminds me, I need to finish FIREN4's sig.
  8. This Topic is closed. OP you can post your thoughts here. No external links please. Thank you.
  9. Bobo you can find out yourself easily, just play a game and see if you receive credits.
  10. I will take a look at your clan. I will have some time on tomorrow. Send a game invite to Absolute Dog when you are on.
  11. It is people like you that ruin the experience for everybody. You deserved the ban for a fact! Keep it up and you will be banned for a much longer time. AFKing in MM is a nuisance at the very least.
  12. DOC_R you know I like you and hope things work out and you get back soon.
  13. I am not sure it is truly understood or if members really care how much we put into this site, but I am tired. I get very little feedback on what I do, for all the time I dedicate to this site. I have been alone as a moderator here for a long time and I need a break. Maybe some one on the staff will see that we need some more moderators. I am glad Jester is back and very happy Choot'em has joined the ranks, but I will be gone for a while. I have never felt closer to any forum as I have here. I have fought for what I thought was good for all of us, but there are times when you have to sit back and have fun for yourself. This is my turn. Until I see you again, enjoy the best forum around.
  14. He would if he could, but he can not connect to the servers.
  15. I play Snipes and Squad in Reach as well. BTB and Living Dead are not my thing. In Halo 3 it's Doubles, Slayer and Social Slayer if I am with friends. Sometimes the occasional Skirmish if the population is there. Maybe I will see you through the scope sometime! Enjoy the forums.
  16. All you had to do was read Jester's play list update OP here.
  17. From here on out when a member comes in here with this type of complaint there is a geed chance they are having what Twin referred to as a wrong value in an "IP Range" setting on the Live incoming and outgoing server. Please refer them to Twin tech thread and let these players know we will support them in there efforts to play on Reach or Halo 3 just as we do. What if this was happening to you?
  18. When first reading some of the OP's in this forum about XBOX Live being unavailable to some people on occasion or for a period of time, I figured like many it was a connection issue related to signal strength, router set up or too many systems in a household online at one time. I recently was made aware that there appears to be a systemic issue for those players who have an IP address that begins with the prefix 101. This is a post in Twinreaper's Technology thread in the Reach forum posted by DBUK: Hi there everyone, but mainly, my friendly 343 representatives. Myself, and countless other people, as I am sure you are aware, are having problems connection to halo reach and halo 3 matchmaking games. For me, I havne't been able to connect since early November. Now, I have done some research and testing etc, and it turns out that the issue is with IP addresses starting with 101. (Australia and NZ) All we get when we go to play is: 'the halo reach server is unavailable at this time, please try again later.' I would like to know if/.when we can expect an update, or fix to this problem, as there are 1000's of people, like me, unable to play! This, stated DBUK, is only happening on the Reach servers and on no other game platform on XBL. I have heard of this before second hand, but after chatting with him in our chat box and noting his positive demeanor, I think that we as a forum should rally behind our fellow players that have been left out of MM due to some "value in the IP range" as Twin suggested it might possibly be. What if it was you who could not play......wouldn't you want our support? I am asking all members to post here and show support, to contact XBOX Live and give them some "junk" on this matter. I will be PMing our senior staff for them to attempt any effort they can with their contacts.

  20. You kids today! Ohhhh it touched the floor that's sooo icky! lol Man I used to eat hand fulls of dirt, ate all manner of insects, bark and leaves to survive in the service, have eaten year old Twinkies (probably the most dangerous thing I ever ate) and pizza that laid on the couch all night in college. C'mon, you think the Chief cares is it hit the floor and stayed there for more than five seconds and was sticky or wet? Shucks no! If he got hungry he would eat whatever it took to survive. 5 second rule......I'll s-n-a-t-c-h a hot dog back from an army of ants that stole my picnic food. And another thing, when I was 10 yrs old I.........................
  21. Psssfffft! What would a girl know? lol! Good to see that you are jumping right into the trenches! AL is for ninnies, I agree, but the TU does offer some better flow to the game in my opinion. It was a response to players desires and seems to be well received. Just curious Ash, what game type do you play?
