Rather a depressing location, it was. Desolate, dry, and barren beyond comprehension of an actual military outpost. 'What a dump.' Spark thought to himself. He didnt bring a large army, it's doubtful to even be considered one unless you count two people. He looked back toward his back up who sat in the warthog waiting for his queue. The driver twiddled with the horn on his helmet while the other was calibrating the gauss hog he built from left over covenant vehicles and a single warthog.
"Toss me a pair of binoculars." Spark commanded, gesturing for it. The driver reached into the hogs glove compartment and tossed it to him.
"Thanks."
Spark took it and began to scan the surroundings for anyone or anything that could lurk in the area. 'Too quiet.' He thought.
Suddenly he saw a flash of something orange in the corner of his eye, and adjusted his view to face it. First it seemed like nothing, but Spark couldn't mistake the telltale orange glow of a Promethean weapon.
He turned back to the other Spartans and signaled them to take the hog to one of the bases in the canyon. They nodded and took off quietly.
Spark unlimbered his pistol from the holster... Then stopped. 'Wait, THIS was my idea of an ideal weapon?' He thought. 'Stupidest idea ever. Of all time, but it'll have to do.'
He pulled the binoculars in the same area again, but saw nothing. Relinquishing the binoculars once more, he began to stealthily make his way to the suspected area. Entering a large clearing, he stopped to listen.
First he heard nothing... But something else pierced his ear. He listened closer and stopped again.
"Footsteps." Spark said to himself. He looked in the direction of where he suspected the owner of these footsteps to be. He readied the Magnum and approached the Eastern canyon wall. The sound stopped, but heavy breathing became more audible from behind a rock outcropping, but did not sound human, but was definitely much smaller then anything but a grunt.
'Or Jackal." Spark thought as he came to the rock.
The breathing stopped suddenly, then the orange glow emitted from behind the rock, producing a pale corona.
"That's probably not too good." Spark whispered to himself, and inched closer. More silence, but body rose from behind the rocks. A slender form of a Jackal emerged wielding a Supressor. It eyed him spitefully, barring its teeth.
Omegaman Infinity readied his Supressor and opened fire.
"Oh damn!" Spark backed up, but the weapons rounds kept hitting his shield, eating it away slowly.
He took out his EMP field emitter, but then he though:' these things don't have shields!' So he rounded the corner and simply chucked the emitter at the Jackal, hitting it on the side of its face.
Spark then turned and hustled to a nearbye cave to let his shields recharge.
'Well that went well.' He thought. 'Im just full of good ideas today.'
His analysis on the situation was halted when he saw a large brute battalion at the far side of the canyon.... It was a big one.
"Well this is gonna be a long day." Spark muttered.
