  1. Given the circumstances of the beginnings of the franchise, I think you can't really replace John at all. The whole series started off with being the "last of his kind", that's what made him unique. You were the only known reported Spartan left living, which is why in CE through Halo 2 just about everyone that comes into contact with Chief all have the same "whoah! OMG a Spartan" reaction. That being said, even the enemies in Halo CE through 3 all had the same kind of reaction. He was termed "Demon" for a reason. They all feared him....not the fact that he was a "Spartan". Adding Spartan III's and IV'd and V'S takes away the mystery, fear and inspirational aspect of what John was. On a side note, the newer Spartans are just plain cocky and arrogant. They way they introduced Palmer to Chief...just bonkers. Palmer meets him for the first time, and her response to him is "I thought you'd be taller"? Like seriously WTF?!?! It's gogdamn John-117 Master F-in Chief lady! She should have been either speechless, shaking in her armor or overly kissing his ass. She made it seem as they were equals...which clearly they are as far from equals as the color black is from white. Moving forward, if they want to capture the same magic they need to irradicate the Spartans except for a handfull. They need to rebuild the legendary status of the few to promote the older feelings and overal feel of the PSartan Warriors within Halo. Noone is going to fear a single Spartan if they are as common as sand on the beach. At this point going back and making another Spartan II the lead would not make sense. John was "supposed" to be the last until the extended universe **** came into play. I understand canonicly they have expanded things, but you have to remember that a game is completely different beast than the books, comics, etc.. This is why John was the only Spartan in play throughout Halo CE to ODST. This is also why Spartan III's were isolated to only Reach and not incorporated into Halo 4 or 5. If they want to have a true spiritual successor to Halo beyond John, it needs to be a new augment or new Spartan, and like I said, there needs to be a catastrophic failure somewhere reducing the numbers, and or make something happen to the whole "Spartan Program" that makes the numbers dwindle and results in the remaining being special and the last of their kind. None of the characters in the universe have anything on John. None have the battle hardness, training, intuition, humanity or humility that he has. No one even comes close in terms of what type of human/soldier he is.
  2. You know you can clone characters, then copy over the clone data right? That way you can add characters without copying over the base roster.
  3. Thats really awesome bro! Isn't there a way to extend the character roster without having to gut a character? I would think a few hex edits to some baseline code should allow you to open up a few or more character slots. But then again maybe not...I have no idea what engine platform it runs on. Can't wait to see more about this!!!
  4. My favorite Spartan IV is the dead one....period. Kill them all....and let Halsey sort them out....
  5. Good evening fellow forumites!! It's been quite some time since I had something to share with the forum. I decided to start back off with a bit of news that I am pretty sure will effect a large portion of our community, and perhaps a large portion of people that our forum dwellers may know and love. Enjoy! Beginning on January 1st 2020, Microsoft will no longer offer Security Patches and Hotfixes for Windows 7 OS's. This is common knowledge for many of us, who were warned of the imposing EOL (end of life) cycle for Windows 7 years ago. But this time, the EOL has taken a slight turn for the worst. In a recent publication this week, Microsoft has confirmed that it will be charging a "monthly" subscription fee for Windows 7 beginning in January, to supply ongoing users of Windows 7 with monthly updates and critical fixes. While this may not be that big of an issue, as pricing has not yet been released, it does beg a few questions. 1. How many vulnerabilities and exploits are there currently, that Microsoft has yet to fix? 2. How many bugs and exploits does Microsoft plan to fix before their "payday" kicks off? 3. Given this type of instance, how can we the consumer be guaranteed that ANY fix we obtain before 2020, isn't a way to increase or generate the need for the subscription? Many users of Windows 7 have refused to make the switch to Windows 10 (OS as a Service) due to it's limited compatibility with older software, issues with various Direct X elements of older games, and it's overall UI and service type features. While Windows 10 is a great way to breathe new life into aging technology, for those who rely on a stable solid OS to run various older editing softwares, video captures and general work within older archtypes of applications, Windows 10 is a crawl and in most cases, the things you wat to do cannot be done without constant crashes. On top of that, Windows 10 is an ongoing operating system that completely changes the way it handles almost everything, everytime an update or feature is released. Some even have rendered the OS unusable at times. Generally speaking, Microsoft has always had a good relationship with consumers regarding it's OS's and fixes for issues. However, the main issue SHOULD be, is that Microsoft is expecting to get paid for fixing shotty software issues for a product YOU ALREADY PAID FOR! To put that into perspective, a car manufacturer would NEVER expect the consumer to turn their car into a dealership for a malfunctioning part and expect you to pay for it. Even if the car is 25 years old, the manufacturer guarantees that any original equipment that is found to be malfunctioning due to manufacturing, is covered and you pay nothing. They pay for it, cause it's their critical error. Since when has it become the fault and burden of the consumer to pay for a fix to something that was broken or incomplete? I understand that all vulnerabilities and exploits are not readily identified. Most take years or decades to uncover and find only once a system has been compromised. But why should I pay Microsoft to fix a security or code issue that I had nothing to do with? And if I am a small business owner (some forum peeps might be) what am i supposed to do about the software i already bought? Should I allow MS to strongarm me into upgrading to an OS that most likely won't support my older POS applications or busniness configurations? And at what point can I sue or seek damages if there is a breach in my system, and that Microsoft failed to issue a fix, because they were greedy and wanted to get paid for it ahead of time? It makes no logical sense. Microsoft had initially tried spitballing this idea with Windows 10. initially trying to sell upgrades and updates for the service ats a charge. That idea was quickly snuffed. Again, I understand that january 2020 is the hard deadline for fixes and patches, I really do get that. And at that point, it becomes our problem if we choose to continue using a product that they no longer support. But my concern is that Microsoft has a backlog of fixes and exploits that they have not yet properly fixed and obviously have no team currently working on uncovering as many as possible before the deadline. 40% of the market still uses Windows 7 for christ sake! Anyway if you want to learn more about the service that is coming, follow the link below. I would love to hear your comments and feedback on this! https://www.forbes.com/sites/gordonkelly/2018/09/08/microsoft-windows-7-monthly-charge-windows-10-free-upgrade-cost/
  6. What did you expect them to do for MCC? Release a whole new set of 3 discs to everyone who bought the game? That isn't feesable nor within the relm of possibility. I can tell you first hand from knowing one of the lead members of the 343 team who is working on MCC, that there is not a way to incorporate any stable fixes without adjustments to the source code.
  7. ^^ Welcome to the era of digital gaming. As for size cutting, they are not going to cut the size of the download, hence the reason you are given options to install only the content you want. I'm not sure what you were expecting, but games have grown in size consciderably over the past 2 decades. You cant expect a publisher or developer to make special downloading just for a handful of gamers who do not have a stable FiOS or standard Cable Internet connection. Who the hell games on a 2G connection?!?
  8. I know now, I didn't see the bruises that I should have seen the first time I fell...

  9. I would like to see the introduction of new species into the fray. For all the vastness of the Universe they created and in which we reside.....you mean to tell me there are no variant species of any of the existing for Elites, Drones or brutes? I mean c'mon.....give us some variation here. I would love to see a Reptilian or Amphibious type species make their way into the game. You can't logically tell me that there are only 10 species of life residing in this Galaxy or Galaxies. For that matter we havent really seen any real variation on the wildlife. Enemies dont have to be super advanced or smart to be conscidered a threat. As I said, an primitive reptilian species, with daggers on their tails, huge claw typre weapons and the ability to natural camo themselves into any environment would make for a pretty fierce threat. Since Reptiles have thick scales, it provides a pretty nasty defense all on it's own. Tracking it through thermal would be hit or miss, and it would be lightning quick anyway based on it's physiological design. I always imagined coming into a cave, and having a group of them hanging upside down from their tails camo'd..... and then you step in, and they drop down. Swinging away with metal shredding talons and a batallion of other natural and hand made weapons. Another species they could possibly do is a Avian type, similar to Drones, but more bird like. I mean after this whole Covenant thing, and even before, there had to be other larger groups of species that banded together to either conquer or defend life in this galaxy. I would also like to see more Pre-Halo Human structures and technology introduced. Even if the Forerunners could and had the time to destroy every footprint of man before firing the rings, I dont think it's a realistic possability. They were too busy being engaged by the Flood and the Human/Syuum alliance to be able to scavange through the Galaxy destroying our stuff. IDk.... I hope to see more at E3 2019 to bring this whole thing into a better focus. For now, it's fun to think about what could and could not be.
  10. Since most of what I think has already been said, I'll add the thing i would like to see that hasn't. Unlockable additional bipeds for use! Traditionally throughout the Halo franchise we have always had to choose between either a Spartan or an Elite. I would love to see a top tier combo of credits and Vidmaster to unlock additional characters like Brutes, Forerunners, Marines, etc... I know yes, we have armor that looks like ODST's and shiz, but I think it would be cool if I wanted to jump into PvP or PvE with a Marine, ODST or another species. No stat advantage other than height or player bulkiness would interupt gameplay, and it would allow a wider variety of playing in both campaign and multiplayer. Want to rock a Miranda or Jacob Keyes in Battle dress uniforms...go fo it! Ever wanted to run down some peeps in a Warthog as a Flood....yes please! The player representation doesn't and shouldn't need to be locked between 2 choices, and opening up other bipeds along with biped specific armors is a great way to expand the customization.
  11. Action Sack (Reach): My favorite playlist. Games like Hocley and Mini Golf were just the best fun time you could possibly have. Grifball (Reach): Grifball in reach was always unpredicatble given the loadouts of the match. Some of the absolute best ones was with the jump pack. It took the game to whole nother level! Reach overall was the only Halo I played where I liked every single playlist except for the basic Slayer and CTF ones.
  12. Although I have never played Halo 5 and I certaintly don't ever plan too, I have read/seen/watched enough comments and videos on the subject to be just as knowledgable about the subject as an actual player. So if you want, take my comments with a grain of salt, or take them from as you normally would....aka "Twin knows his ****" The REQ system appears at first concept to have been created as a way to try to keep Halo relevant in terms of the overcrowded and more popular FPS titles that the market is currently flooded with. Do I have any problem with that idea or concept? No. A game needs to naturally evolve and take on new concepts if it is going to survive. Other titles like the mentioned Mass Effect, CoD, Fallout, Destiny, etc all have incorporated a "loot" system in some way as a way to keep players playing, and to entice new players into the franchises. That's the whole point of any system like Halo's REQ Packs. We all want a game that we can personally invest in and showcase our particular asthetic and passion for said title. But in the case of Halo 5, it was doe wrong, and it appears that 343 has decided to ignore the larger portion of the gaming community since they have a habitual habit of ignoring any and all negative criticism. Halo 5's Warzone is a straight P2W scenario, no doubt. What mnakes it even worse is the fact that you have to pay for DLC that provides no real incentive on it's own, and further decreases the % changes of obtaining wanted items. Unless your the super collector of all things available in-game, which those players are in the very small minority, it serves no motivation for the majority of the community. It reduces your chances of getting those handfull of items, and at the same time, floods your inventory with worthless junk that you have to sift through just to find certain pieces of flair you want to use. And the grind is pathetic. As mentioned before, you are expected to jump into Warzone and literally face respawning every 3 seconds without any real gameplay, just to rev up your currency to be able to buy more REQ packs...which ultimately leads to the % bs and the utter frustration from never getting the item you want. Again, Halo took a standard of this generations FPS mechanics and tweaked it to be a unique Halo thing, but failed miserably. Any time a paid item has a direct effect on a standard multi player feature with no balance or advantage disabling enacted....it spells doom. Let's take Destiny for example. In Crucible (pvp), any level or weapon/armor advantage that you have in the standard open world does not exist. Damage is dealt based on the weapon class, and all players have the same strength shields and health. There is no advantage to a veteran player who grinded up for a sweet op exotic, versus the newbie who wants to jump in with a base green or blue weapon. Said newbie has just as much a chance to win as any other player, as long as that player uses teamwork and has a sufficient enough of skill and map layout knowledge. This mentality and gameplay does not exist in Warzone at all. Now before you start scratching your head and insist Warzone is not PvP...it certaintly is. Is it ranked, no. But the purpose of PvP is to pit Players vs Players in a match of skill. PvP was never meant for it to be a e-***** contest of paid loot. PvP should always focus on SKILL. The REQ system negates any skill as it doesn't matter how skilled you are if you drop into a match where everyone on the opposing teams spawns with straight out game breaking items simply because they wasted money on REQs. At that same time I do realize that players should be rewarded for spending real money, but not rewarded in that they become gods and ruin everyone elses fun. The REQ system should have instead been a "pay for the items you want" vs "grind, earn and maybe get what you want". I've never seen a more broken and unbalanced system for rewarding players to actually stay with a game and play. I really hate to say this, but this is where Destiny actually got the reward system right. You find different items for free all over the place. You are rewarded with engrams which give you a % chance to get a Legendary Item or Exotic Item you want. You can buy those engrams in-game with in-game currency and the time you spend grinding ends up being more meaningful since the items have an effect on everything but the small PvP stuff. Sure they do have a "silver" currency you can buy with real money to get flair items, but thats the extent. Nothing you buy with real money gives you a power edge over other players. It's all about skill, map layout and teamwork. With also the occasional secondary effects of weapons for kills...(Graviton Lance's Void orbs come to mind). But the sentiment is there, it's fair, balanced and not a P2W model and rewards players much more than any other game to date. It's like Borderlands on steroids! And that leads to the last point. Where are the achievments and rewards for doing fantastic impossible things, or completing a ridiculous challenge in order to gain armor or flair? Vid Masters were a great way to inspire teamwork and keep the campaign going long after you replayed it to death. The PvP was refreshed in this way as you actually worked towards something that you were guranteeed to get, and based on skill and teamwork not everyone could easily achieve it, so you felt good about what you spent your time doing. I dont see a whole lot of H5 players actually citing how good and accomplished they feel playing the game. If Halo wants to bring back the REQ system as it is now, it's going to kill off what is left of the game and there will be no more future Halo games. In order for Halo to get it right, they need to bring back Vid Masters in some form (Destiny has Milestones), and or create an ehnaced version of Reach's Daily Challenges to keep things fresh. it wouldn't hurt to also make the Halo campaign aq little more open world with flair, armor and weapons obtainable within that open space like Borderlands, Fallout and Destiny. The business model they are using now has failed and left a lot fo people not wanting to return to Halo. Lastly let's talk about the maps. I know the maps have nothing to do with the REQ system, but it is tied directly to the type of talent and minds that are currently working at 343. As mentioned earlier and as I have been saying for nearly 5 years now....343's map design and commitment to good quality maps is absolute garbage. I've seen newbie HEK uses create a better looking detailed map with better layout on CE recently. Most if not 3/4 of all maps, are Forge variants, which is about the biggest slap in the face you can give to a community after asking them to fork out $20-$30 for DLC. The way they market and reveal the maps is shady at best. They show you just enough to get you into thinking it's a brand new map with cool asthetics, only to be fooled when you jump in and see that it's a Forge variant. ANY time a DLC bundle gives you more Forge maps than actual new maps...there is inherently a huge problem in the creativity department, point blank. As a side thought, maybe if 343 hadn't released a bunch of broken games to begin with, they wouldn't have to divide their development team up so much and more quality focus could be given to the actual title in development. It's just an opinion, but it seems to me that Microsoft is stretching 343 way to thin across too many projects. This has already proven to lead to a broken unbalanced game that fails to impress or keep player populations in tact.
  13. As the name they chose suggests, I would believe it to be an expansive, immersive open world title. It looks as if the Slipspace Engine was designed to bring Halo back to what it was supposed to be on Mac. Hundreds of weapons, third person and first person views, expansive open world movement, etc. With MCC being worked on in complete overhaul, it wouldn't make a lot of sense for them to release another CE clone type game that is similar graphically and in theme. It makes more sense for it to be a precursor expansion to fill in the gaps from the era before CE. Also with a title chosen like "Infinite", it can't be a stand alone Halo game that plays and has the same layout as a base Halo game. It has to live up to the name they chose, so don't be surprised when you find out that Halo Infinite is a Destiny clone, or Anthem wanna be.
  14. Not sure if I should congratulate you Slik, or pray for you lmao. I'll test your C-Mod skills for sure!
  15. Well since this seems to be a completely different look from the trailer, I'd have to assume that this takes place somewhere outside the :Forerunner Saga" judging from the Mark IV Armor Config we see. Then again, this is just an engine test run to showcase what they are building and anything we saw is NOT in stone or even concept at the moment. Moving onto what i would like to see and what AI it "could" be.... I'd love to see BB. Forget for a moment that Parangosky is no longer in charge of ONI. Seeign as how her own hand sort of started the whole Covie Invasion because of the Reach incident, I can't see that ist is too far out of the relm of possibility, that she somehow manages to get BB to Chief, to kind of atone for her prior sins and protect humanity. As far as AI's are concerned...there is no better AI at Cloak and Dagger hacker and manipulation than BB. There is a reason BB was her personal AI while Command-in-Chief of ONI. I think the pairing of the two would make a formidible force against Cortana and any AI she happens to "frees" (slavery more like) and throws their way.
  16. I see this moving towards the same type of release system as Microsofts Windows Platform. Microsoft dropped releasing numerical versions with Windows 10, starting the revolution that is "Incremental Updates" to a constantly evolving platform version. So it makes sense that microsoft is looking for a way to continue the franchise without having to release a full game with title every 3-5 years. This could be a great move for Halo, or it could spell the end. Lot's of games now or days are adding full fledged campaign or multiplayer content that goes far beyond what we normally had back in the days of Halo CE - Halo Reach. Having a title like "Infinite" really gives them the freedom of adding any type of story content without having to follow along a general continuity timeline like we have in CE>2>3>4>5. It gives them the ability to drop a staggering amount of conetent without having to setup a timeline release or explain why and where it's happening. They can literally decide to drop 60+ hours of gameplay half way into it's lifecycle about what happened between Halo 3 and 4, and they dont have to build a huge back story or title release to do it. That being said, it also has massive potential for failure as living up to a name like "Infinite" is a big one. The title itself without any other wording, firstly gives the impression that the halo expereince is massive and expansive (think Destiny with DLC) or (Mass Effect). Halo has never had a large open world or expansive content gameplay that ressembles the aformentioned similar titles, so it's difficult to see where and what they can pull off, and how quickly. Halo players as it is, hate, and I mean ABSOLUTELY HATE waiting a solid 3-4 years just to be teased with a new title. Now factor in an evolving title that adds content story....and you have yourself a perfect **** storm of massive proportions that can utterly destroy the fanbase, or revive the franchise. That's just my initial thought on the subject. Doing this on console is a bit tricky given the resource lock of the hardware, versus the PC counterpart. If it does come to PC alongside the console version, there is no doubt the PC will not only outperform it's sister version, but also provide an easier path of adding content. Again, it's not something they are familiar with unless you count Spartan Op's missions...which are just recycled bsp's and not entirely new world size play areas.
  17. One word... DISSAPOINTED He heard a lot of chatter and flac about how Microsoft is commited to the PC gaming genre as well as their plans to nuture the PC community. THIS IS NOT WHAT WE WANTED! The Slipspace Engine is a graphical improvement over the Blam! Engine that has been used for the past almost 20 years yes. Is it on par with Cryengine, UDK or even Frostbite...no. But for Halo in general it is a good clean slate to work from. Just a personal quarl here, but I think it's really sh**ty for them to tease about a Halo offshoot 2 years out! For those of you who don't know much about nor spend time "in" the PC Halo community, allow me to lay out what I mean by "not what the PC community wanted". Ever since the launch of Halo 2 Vista, the PC community has asked and wanted a fully realized halo game for the PC with actuual full custom content development support. We have clamoured for a true halo expereince that embraced all the great features of the past such as clans, campaign, online multiplayer and ranks that are directly refelctive of what the console players get. Halo Infinite is NOT that, it is something much different. This is just another way for MS to say to the PC community that they are delivering on their promise to support us and give us what we want. I realize it's early to ***** about it, but the trailer does nothing to show what they mean, nor does the site and trailer explain how and what we will be getting. In order for any future Halo game to really deliver on their decades old promise, the PC game needs to have the following... - Client hosted servers - Custom Content Creation Pipeline - Halo CE-Reach style matchmaking - Campaign (think MCC expansive, the community really wants H3) - Free to Play capability. No lIVE subsciption or 3rd Party pay wall blocking online play - Server management tools for dealing with bans, hacking, etc... - Friends Lists similar to Live
  18. A Halo game for PC that doesn't suck...and isnt a top down shooter. Has a full un-lobotomized EK, and can gain me back from the dark side (Destiny 2).
  19. Destiny 2 is FRICKEN AMAZING!!!

This is what D2 should have been at launch. I hate how Bungie has made such an addicting game that has trapped people to thinking that everything is gonna be fine because they're "going to fix it eventually".

That said, everything is fine, they're going to fix it eventually. lol

  20. First off, if and when they would ever decide to do another ODST title.... for the love of god DO NOT set it anywhere near the abortion timeline events of Halo4 - beyond. Aside from the abysmal ability to form an actual game with any coherent story, due in large part to just about EVERYTHING taking the backseat to the Spartan IV's..... the art direction and time wouldnt fit the ODST narrative. Too much has changed to be able to go from H3 ODST to something of the new trilogy. As much as I would like a new ODST, it would fail and would not have the same magic or greatness, and quite frankly it would soil the name and legacy.
