  1. Hello there, BigArk24. Welcome to the community. I hope you enjoy the forums here and I'll see you around.
  2. We know they'll be tweaking things in H4 before the big release. My question is: Do you think they'll also change some of the weak SFX on the guns? Seriously, the only one I like is the AR.
  3. Hi, Mr. Cole. Mind if I ask how you pronounce "Roun"? Does it sound like "oh", "oo", or "ow" like I just stubbed my toe? Just curious. I can't speak for other members, nor our mods, though I was given the title of Spiritual Leader for a reason by AbsoluteDog, a guy all of us regulars respect and love. And I feel confident when I say that if you were given a warning about your behavior and dismissed it to continue going on doing what you were doing, then you deserved the Shoutbox-ban. I have never heard of a case where someone was banned from the Shoutbox or the site itself without fore-warning. However, if you can honestly tell people that you had not been given prior warning by a mod before receiving your ban from the Shoutbox, then I would apologize for the apparent injustice you've suffered, Mr. Cole. You're correct in your belief that a person should not be persecuted for being who they are. But by that logic, the same should be said for animals like bears, sharks or piranhas that are a risk to your safety, should you happen to be in their habitat. It's just their nature. Humans also have a nature. A nature to protect themselves and even each other, should they find themselves sympathetic to one another. In this case, Mr. Cole, you had apparently been offending your fellow community members. You had apparently said things that were rubbing people the wrong way, and in a small dose it may have been excused. But if you were overdoing it and causing too much friction, you have to understand that people eventually refuse to put up with it anymore. And whether to defend themselves or someone else against it, they'll do what they're allowed to do by law (the rules, in our case) to put a stop to it. You may think you had done nothing wrong. And amongst your friends it may be seen as innocent fun. But amongst people who don't know you, and who have a different standard of what they find amusing, you can't expect a reaction similar to what you get out of your friends. It's like a white person walking into the middle of an all-black neighborhood and shouting the N-word like he owns it. Be glad that you were only Shoutbox-banned. We don't want to lose members, but we aren't willing to tolerate ones who refuse to treat people the way those people are comfortable being treated. It doesn't mean you have to "stop being you". It just means: dial it down a few notches. Show us that you understand. Show us that you know you wouldn't want someone wandering into your house and behaving in a way that irritates you or that makes you uncomfortable. Then you're likely not to receive any more flack for the incident, and won't have to worry about losing your Shoutbox privileges again unless there's another incident - which there shouldn't be. Right, Mr. Cole? Just hang in there and try to understand. You are not being crucified. You're just being taught a lesson. You're not the first one to receive it, and you're not likely to be the last. I hope to see you around the forums and, one day soon, in the Shoutbox, Mr. Cole. Be good.
  4. Rest easy, my child. Taking advantage of the gullibility of your opponent is a part of warfare. They chose to put themselves in a situation whereby you could capitalize to maximum effect. That's on them - not you. "Fool me once: shame on you. Fool me twice: shame on me." Go now with the blessing of Twam. Go! And spread the joy that is the Respawn.
  5. BE KIND. REWIND.

  7. Hello and welcome to the community. You may have noticed the claims that this is the friendliest Halo-centric community on the web. This is completely, totally, and utterly true. Even with the few spats and rivalries that do go on here in the forums and (sadly) in the Shoutbox, we still have the most loving atmosphere of any Halo community any of us have visited. So it is with a smile and a click of the mouse that I greet you warmly, wish you and your family well, and, again, welcome you to the community. I hope you enjoy your time here.
  8. Not 100% certain, but I have a feeling this is in the wrong forum. Well, anyway... First bit of help you'll get: "Infinite". No hatin'. Just a helping hand. So... You want to name the game after the largest UNSC vessel ever constructed. The very vessel which serves as HQ to its SPARTAN-IV's. The first thing I think of is "War Games". After all, wasn't "Infinite" its original working title? So, assuming you wanted a purely Multiplayer experience, the title is an apt choice. If, however, you wanted a new campaign experience, the first thing I think of is something similar to Halo 3: ODST or Halo: Reach -- a campaign played as a character who doesn't answer to the name "Master Chief". That said, you'd likely be playing as a SPARTAN-IV whose base of operations is the Infinity. Small hurdle to leap: Spartan Ops is already a campaign where the Infinity is the base of operations. So what then do we need to set it apart and keep gamers from believing that this idea isn't just a CoD-esque money-grab...? *Puts on his thinking cap.* :sorcerer: Well, after a few seconds of thought, I believe that the obvious solution is a re-titling and an awesome story. Mind you, I said the solution is "obvious", not "easy". Making a spinoff work is tough. The job of saving the galaxy is already in the hands of the luckiest S.O.B. who ever was. There isn't a lot of wiggle room, especially in the aftermath of the Human-Covenant war -- not while the Chief is still alive. And, while the UNSC believes he's dead, we know better than to count him out over a small slipspace incident, right? Right. So what then... What could this unknown SPARTAN-IV possibly do that would make for a riveting and memorable campaign... In Halo 3: ODST we saw the New Mombasa incident up close, and it was good times, but in the end I believe that it was just a test bed for Firefight, and a way to give Nathan Fillion, Alan Tudyk and Adam Baldwin starring voice roles in a Bungie title after their impressive voiceover work in Halo 3 -- not to mention a way to get some nice jazz saxophone music into a Halo title (I personally loved it!) So what to do... What to do... My thinking cap is failing me. Anyone got any lemons? I suppose another obvious answer to the question of Plot is to incorporate a key element of the secrets yet to be discovered by Chief and the gang. Anyone have any idea what something like that might be? I haven't read the new books (Glasslands or later releases), so I haven't many details of the mysterious precursor species to the Forerunners. A story that runs parallel to both the Master Chief story and Spartan Ops... I believe that is what's needed. I'll be damned if I know how to achieve it, though. Maybe my thinking cap is worn-out. Thus ends my contribution to the topic: a bit of thinking and guidance, hopefully pointing you and whomever you elect to aid you in the right direction.
  9. I like EnmityEra. I feel it has a poetry to it. Random idea on a similar line: Sacred Hatred Checked a database of existing gamertags. Couldn't find it on the list. Hope you figure one out, EG.
  10. Take 'er easy, Mr. V. We'll see you when we see you, eh?
  11. This is a tad late, but, "Better late than never," they say. Congratulations, Albert. As one of our most active, fun-loving, kind-spirited and skilled members, I feel you deserve more than just MoM. In fact, there should be a catagory of members above Dedicated, yet below Legendary (as befits the title and reasons for being interred with it), with you and a handful of others from our community bestowed with it. Possibly: Awesome Members You get the idea. Again, 'grats on MoM, my friend. In my opinion, you've more than earned it.
  12. Feel terrible for missing the Absolute Halo playdate. Sorry, ADog, One, and anyone who hoped I'd make it there.

  13. Already grabbed it. w00t! Lacks some features that the PC version has, from what I've heard, though it's a Bad News, Good News situation. Example: Bad news -- There are no Shears in the Xbox 360 version. Good news -- We don't need them. Just smack the wool off them sheep.
  14. I fail to see how that is a bad thing. In seriousness, though, you have a point - from the driver's perspective. From the perspective of the guy trying to hijack/melee/nade-plant: Heck, let's make it mandatory first-person seating! Personally, I'd LOVE to be in a Hog or Goose when it rolls! That would be the greatest virtual roller coaster since... well, since the last great virtual roller coaster.
  15. Pre-ordered. Moved and had to cancel my pre-order. Haven't gotten around to reinstating my pre-order at the new location. As much as I respect Spectral for not putting much stock in special editions (I pre-ordered the big Legendary edition for Reach and horribly overpaid), I do find myself curious about what 343i will do for special editions, if anything. You'd think they would, considering how hard they and Microsoft are pushing this baby, what with the upcoming Forward Unto Dawn webisodes.
  16. Happy Friggen Birthday Twam!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  17. :unworthy: Twammybear :unworthy: You are the greatest webmaster in all the internets! You've made such a great, great thing happen with this community. You may not be a god, but you're our god. Happy birthday, big man. May nothing stand in the way of your joy this day.

  19. You guys have done some excellent work uncovering and sharing all of this information. I just thought I'd pop in and let you know how appreciated you are for it. How appreciated? Very. Very appreciated. On a scale of 1 to 10, with 1 being "Could care less" and 10 being "I owe you my life", my level of appreciation for you guys is about a 6. Pretty high, considering the relative triviality of the information compared to something like, say, getting the MRI results back from your Oncologist on the state of a previously unidentified mass next to your heart and lungs - which I would rate somewhere around an 8 - to put it in perspective. Much love. Edit: DB77 said it. Dan and Adam, my hat is off to you two. Also, to Choot for his many contributions as well. I You guys.
  20. Hey again, Pur3! Welcome to the community. I hope you find everything to your liking. I'm not super sure, but it largely depends on whether it's a weekday or the weekend. Most of our members are in school; hence, the PG-13 site-rating. That said, the mods here are fair, but they don't pull their punches, so watch the language and subject matter. Even I've been warned for getting a bit too risque. Last time I checked the stats, the site's record was around 350 members online all at once. Note: Not everybody uses the Shoutbox. Some actually avoid it on principle. So just because someone doesn't respond to a greeting via Shoutbox, doesn't mean there's nobody here. Just lettin' you know. Once again, welcome to the community, Pur3. See you around the forums.
  21. Later, Brony. Have fun!
  22. Take care, Ash. Safe trip. Have fun. Et cetera. Kids. They grow up so fast.
  23. Oh, wow. I totally said my "loveyoumissyoubye" in the wrong thread. But I can redirect to it: http://www.343indust...__20#entry92082 However, there's a bunch of stuff in that googly-eyed post that never had to be there, so let me reiterate here. A-Dog You are one of the best things to happen to this community since its inception, right up there with Twam, Spectral and myself. You are, and have always been one of the most caring, admirable and deeply invested people here in the community. And you're right, it is a lot like a family - those of us who have taken the time to pour out more than just our ideashere - that has made itself a special place in our hearts. And you? You became one of the most important members of this family, brother. Your absence will be felt so, so strongly by we who know and love you. You take care of your people. You take care of yourself. You do what you have to do and regardless of whether you ever reclaim your rightful, hard-earned place here, you never regret your decisions, man. I regret not taking my chance to game with you - it would have been a privilege - as it has been a point of absolute joy and an honor to have known you. Love, peace and blessings, A-Dog. We'll see you around.
  24. Is, man. He is a really fun guy. I've seen a bunch of comments referring to ADog in the Past-tense and I'm sorry but I think that it's just silly. He's not dead! SPARTANs never die. They just go MIA. 'Course, this is more like taking a Leave of Absence... Can SPARTANs do that? Are they allowed to take vacation time? Anyway... But rest assured: he'll be back. Whether he'll be in a position to reclaim his place as 343i.orgnir, The Hammer of Twam, that remains to be seen. However, I wouldn't be surprised if, upon his return, wounded and bloody, he just suited-up and rode on out into our beautiful forums to pick up where he left off like not a stride was broken. What am I talkin' aboot? Need a visual aid? Okey dokey then: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kcD_lHIEGxo 'Course, let's face it, ain't no way in Hell's green acre that ADog would be offered the Golden Throne itself (the seat of ultimate power) the way Dredd was. So let's just skate right on by that bit, eh? I'll miss him, just like Doc, Zed and that other guy... what's his name... Oh well. j/k! Seriously now, though. I, too, will miss you, A-Dog. You take care, do what you need to do, don't take no guff from nobody, and I'll keep you in that special place in my mind where I keep all the people who have been a positive influence in my life, online and off. My thoughts on you will be ever positive. Take it easy, brother. Nothin' but love for you.
