  1. This coming from someone who judges fellow members when he has only recently joined and offered only 9 posts. He is "our" resident monitor and constantly flies around our station. I for one like the pile of metal!
  2. Thanks for the post Twin, it is so true. You were able to follow up with the information in a better way before I could do it. Thanks

    Mute ban.

Most players never set the social "preferences" and even if they did, mute bans aren't applied to "chatty" players they are typically given to disruptive players. When I play Reach I play with a fun, talkative and funny group of friends. We talk a lot in the pregame lobby, the game itself and post game. Not one of us have ever been banned. It is auto applied after numerous complaints, not just a couple. The bans are also applied to player whose mic it constantly noisy, plays music/tv, too loud or constantly echos. The problem is everyone who gets banned, muted or otherwise punished feels the system is unfair. Some people do forget that we play in a public domain, instead they sit at home saying whatever they want, being annoying and disruptive and then complain when the players around them get tire of it and mute them. I am not saying that you are anything but polite and talkative, but typically polite and talkative people do not get mute banned. By the way, welcome to the forums Eyrr and thanks for the post.
  4. Well you will be missed King. Why the new member name?
  5. My fiber optic system generally downloads at 25 to 30 minimum and uploads from 5 to 9. I pay for that connection with hard earned money. I use 99% of my internet for the 360 and pay a premium price for it. It is unfair to expect the gaming community to play at the least common denominators speed. Like you said, it may be impossible anyways to attempt it much less convince the gaming community, some who have invested heavily in system to give them optimal play. This is the highest test result I have ever gotten. Nice OP though, I had not heard of or considered this before.
  6. GT: Absolute Dog Time zone: EST Think we should get together on Reach before that and have some fun!
  7. This is an example of the fact that 343ind. is working hard, through people leaving and coming onto the project, to bring us a new game that requires the team be "on board" with creating the best game possible. UPDATE: Microsoft has provided an official response to the news of Ryan Payton's departure from 343. Here's the full statement: "343 Industries has assembled an all-star cast of talent working on Halo 4 under the design leadership of Studio and “Halo 4” Creative Director, Josh Holmes. We're excited to tell the next story in the Halo universe with Halo 4 as the first game in the Reclaimer Trilogy. Ryan Payton, who left earlier this summer, served as Narrative Designer on Halo 4 for 15 months. Armando Troisi was hired as the Halo 4 Narrative Director in March, having formerly served as the Lead Cinematic Designer on Mass Effect 2. Ryan has been a great friend and colleague during his tenure at 343 Industries and we appreciate his contributions to the team. We wish Ryan the best in his new game development venture." ORIGINAL STORY: Creative director Ryan Payton has left Halo 4 saying he's "drained," and that he wasn't "creatively excited" about the game anymore. "I had a great run at Microsoft, I don't regret one day of it," he told Kotaku. "But after a few years, there came a point where I wasn't creatively excited about the project anymore." He says that he thinks the game won't be bad, it just won't be the one he wants. "The Halo I wanted to build was fundamentally different, and I don't think I had built enough credibility to see such a crazy endeavor through." Payton has already started his own studio – Camouflaj –and is working on two projects. Head over to Kotaku for more from Payton. Halo 4 comes out for Xbox 360 toward the end of 2012.
  8. This is a link to a story regarding XBOX modder Matthew Crippen. It has been delayed after the sitting judge see issues with the defenses case.
  9. Remember that 343ind. said everything in the promo vids was a work in progress, not the final product.
  10. This is an old custom map of mine called Rock Museum that supports Team and Rumble slayer. This is a screenshot of the exterior of the museum.

  14. The game, or more correctly, the maps shipped with the game will be the equivalent of a DLC for Reach. The campaign is separate, but the MM will be continued in the Reach MM to keep continuity. Resetting players ranks would be unfair, unnecessary and unwanted. Welcome to the forums.
  15. I am with you on having a new gaming experience, but still want the "Halo" feeling in the game. Halo should always be Halo, not a combination of other games. Halo games had always set the standard and I hope they continue to do so. Reach may not have been the success Bungie wanted for it's final game, but they did try to offer a new experience. You can't fault them for that. Halo 4 has to incorporate the weapons, campaign, MM and ranking that existed in previous games and bring them to new level. Keeping touch with the roots of the game is needed, because another wholesale change could alienate fans again. Nice OP.
  16. We do tend to abbreviate members and the warm fuzzy felling is gas, it will pass soon enough! lol
  17. There has to be a real penalty for quitting. In H3 when you quit, you lost rank, that spawned de-ranking. Quitting in Reach does not accommodate de-ranking, but a significant loss of credits would bring the problem to a quick end. The system would have to be able to recognize the difference between quitting and lagging out or loosing power at the players home. Maybe if you drop from a game and begin a MM search within 5 minutes the credit loss is applied after a specific number of times. If after 5 minutes you would not get the penalty. If you are playing with a bad or low quality signal the system already recognizes that because it provides you with the connection status in Reach. If you know you can't or may not finish a game you should not go into MM. Twinreaper may have a better idea on whats applicable technically, but players also quit because they don't like the chosen map or game type. This could also be applied to those who repeatedly betray other players, take their credits not their rank. Another penalty might be setting the rank credit plateaus higher for repeat offenders of quitting and betraying. It would rise, per account, at 2, 5, and then finally 10% levels. You would be warned first, then notified of the ranking adjustment that would stay in place for all following ranks, but be repealed if said activity was not repeated for a specific time frame.
  18. I agree, this is part of an OP I created a while back: 3) Once a player achieves the highest possible rank give another incentive such as special armors or military style awards such as a Silver Star or Medal of Honor that could be see in miniature next to the gamer tag or actual rank. These would be extremely hard to unlock and available to only the best players, give them there due.
  19. I'll take a shot at getting it started. The Beginning of the End There comes a time when a decision has to be made. The decision to to run from certain danger or to face it head on and fight for your life. This was the thought that raced through his mind when he decided to turn and flee for safety behind the nearest door he could find. As he slammed the door hard behind him and ran to hide behind one of the many large crates that filled the room when an explosion tore through the air lifting one of the crates towards the high roof and slowly arcing towards the only door leading from the storage room that he would be trapped in. They must have rolled a grenade into the room before he could shut the door, a room that would become his coffin, unless.........................
  20. When, on your birthday, you spend the day in the forums!
  21. Having a circular the map open into a series of small clearings with small structures or bases that could provide cover and be used for objective games like CTF or Bomb and have a foot paths that would wind up through the sides of the small ravines for sniping and cover fire. The addition of a small tunnel passage or a close, tight path through the middle. This style of map has been unavailable since Backwash, of Halo 2 days. Having it be covered in a similar fog that hung low and dense like that would be epic. I always liked playing Backwash.
  22. I do not think that is coming with HCEA. It would be a nice addition for the hopeful forge component for Halo 4. Add your thoughts for forge in that H4 forge thread and who knows......
  23. If you have a video montage of your games, set to music or not, post them here for the community to see. Give us your best Overkills, Exterminations, ridiculous sniper sprees etc. Include your gamer tag and type of montage in the post.
  24. I bridge using the Mac Miniport via a wireless signal I receive from a neighbors router. Don't know what an XBC or Xlink Kai are.
