Strategies used to keep activity in Shoutbox

So..I came up with this idea for sometime as I came across multiple times where the Shoutbox was inactive.This thread is a discussion on how to keep the shoutbox active.What are your thoughts? Post them below .

I think it's pretty active already. Usually it doesn't go "Deadbox" for more than an hour or two. 90% of the time someone's in there. It all really comes down to availability and free time to talk, especially now that it's school time in the morning again, and people have to work.

It does go dead but usually not for long. The real trouble for me is continuing after hello and hows it goin.

How about asking "What games have you been playing?" and springing the conversation from there.

 

I think simple questions can encourage good discussion if all parties involved are interested in discussion.

Leave the shoutbox alone and let it flow. If it dies that means people are usually preoccupied with other things.

 

The shoutbox will come back on when it does.
