Strategies used to keep activity in Shoutbox

I think it's pretty active already. Usually it doesn't go "Deadbox" for more than an hour or two. 90% of the time someone's in there. It all really comes down to availability and free time to talk, especially now that it's school time in the morning again, and people have to work.

How about asking "What games have you been playing?" and springing the conversation from there.

I think simple questions can encourage good discussion if all parties involved are interested in discussion.

Start arguments but refuse to understand the other sides point of view.

Flame on a game but don't elaborate.

Start spewing nonsonse out of nowhere.

These are the things that usually light up the Shoutbox ;)

Or things that Driverretro does every morning in the SB.
