  1. Reach and 3's voting systems both had their advantages...so why not combine them? Give people 3 map options but instead of "none of the above" give a random game map option...that way, no matter what, your in game after 1 round of voting AND even though its not quite as random as 3's voting system, a bit more variety is introduced. I would also support seeing a return of Halo 3's rankings, only replace experience with credits.
  2. No. For better or worse "nostalgia" just went out the window...oh it might very well be great and feel like Halo. But its not going to be Bungies Halo. I'm not worried that any one feature is inherently bad. I'm worried that many of these new features carry a high risk of someone at 343 f'ing them up. I do find it funny how everyone is saying "Im gonna start with a magnum" versus a guy with a BR. But this is ridiculous...we have PRIMARY and SECONDARY weapons...we can assume that Primary players will have either the BR, the AR or both as default with things like the Carbines, DMR, Silenced SMG (I hope) as unlocks. Secondary weapons will have magnum. But its not like you'll have a crappy pistol with nothing else to go up against the BR. At worst, you might have to start with the AR and level up to the BR. Horrible for all you BR pros (of which I am not one), but will that be a tragedy? No...Besides, its most likely that 343 will make you able to choose the BR or the AR.
  3. Im definitely concerned more than I am happy about this leak...its not that the changes are automatically bad its just that they have a high chance of being bad. Seems like allot of changes too far, too fast, with allot of chances to f things up...not what 343 should be doing when they have to prove their chops as stewards of Halo. Point is, they shouldn't be trying to reinvent the wheel when they haven't even shown they know how to make a wheel yet.
  4. Seeing all 15 of the scans in their pages, it looks way too elaborate to be a fake. Frankie has come out and said basically its allot of stuff being taken out of context, not out and out lies. That's comforting because as said elsewhere, instant spawn and random weapon drops could be just fine, really awesome even, in the right context. What worries me most is the choice of name, if that is not BS. "Spartan Ops"? Hey, who knows, could be awesome, sounds just fine, but Spartan ops? It does not reflect well on 343s decision making when they have chosen a name so similiar to CoD.
  5. The article merely suggested that certain "abilities" will be in. It is the context of how those abilities are acquired and used that counts. Other than that, the leak sheds very little light on what the custom system will be like, which is the crux.
  6. Seems to me that if the thing isnt downright fake, which its looking more and more like it isn't, the "leak" was a monstrous misrepresentation of reality. The only thing which I really didn't like which I know for sure (assuming the leak is real) is that Elites aren't returning in MP. But I can handle that...with all the other things, Random weapon spawns, instant spawn, etc etc. it can all be taken way out of context. Though, that still doesn't erase the fact that Spartan Ops? Spartan Points? Terrible way to name things considering how everyone is ready to bare their teeth over even the slightest likeness to CoD. Im withholding judgment until I have the magazine in my hands.
  7. Things like instant spawn and random weapon drops could work in certain contexts. Drop pods would be good in an invasion style playlist, Instant spawn in action sack etc etc. The "leak" gives the impression that these things are global. Allot of what makes the article irritating is the nomenclature. Spartan Ops? There is just no effing way that is the actual name of the feature. 343 could not possibly be that dumb. Okay, if they actually are that dumb I might not buy the game.
  8. Posted this in OP as well. If you look at the pics in the context of the scans how fake they look really jumps out.
  9. Not necessary. The links in other posts and you can simply do a google search for Halo 4 news.
  10. The pictures make it look like customizable start weapons too...in theory, I have no problem with that, but this just isn't the kinda thing 343 should be thinking about.
  11. Not going to start complaining about all these "revelations" until 343 can confirm rather this stuff is true...another valid point is that in certain things revealed in the links could actually be very good in certain contexts, not applied to the total game. Have my fingers crossed that 343 is going to tell us this stuff is bull****. There are all sorts of cool changes that 343 could make...these are not those changes. Really going to be disappointing if members in the community immediately start saying "chill out, adapt, these changes could be okay." If things like Instant Spawns and random weapon drops are the rule for the new game, an immediate and very pissed off outcry is needed against 343. HOPEFULLY its all BS. Update: Actually seeing the pictures in their full scans several things occurred to me...there is no picture from a new level or campaign environment. The elites look like heavily photo shopped versions of the elites from Halo Reach and if one looks at pics with the AR and custom scope on the DMR they really look like they were just edited in. Update: Frankie has come out and said essentially, its all taken out of context, which is reassuring but I'm still concerned. That, and he repeated the standard, "It still feels like Halo". I'm getting pretty tired of hearing that argument, but I guess we will have to wait and see.
  12. How often does this happen to you? Do you manage to get your hands on the power weapons every single game? They system might need "improvement" but its unfair to say it "sucks". The game is not broke because of this.
  13. And we should conclude what based on this?
  14. It really is worth pointing out with this that this simply is not a big issue and there are definitely more important things to be attended to. 343 shouldn't be spending an inordinate amount of time improving what is already a decent time, especially so since any possible solution they implement has at least a big a chance of unfairly restricting peoples freedom as actually being effective. If you are having so many problems with betrayers such that you disagree with that, its likely your doing something wrong in game.
  15. You guys gave me an interesting idea with regards to rank and peoples long term record. Obviously, the difficulty in judging betrayals lies in individual games...its complicated for the game to have to distinguish between an actual intentional betrayal and an accident out of game. Lots of people have a bad game where they rage kill a teammate accidentally kills a teammate. But even noobs who suck are not going to rack up huge amounts of betrayals in a month or two...perhaps the system should credit ban or completely ban people from matchmaking based on the aggregate of their betrayals in any given time period, say a week for conveniences sake. You cant stop someone from being a **** once, but with a feature like this, you can force people to change their long term behavior. That and, something which acts on the player out-of-game based on their stats would likely be much easier to implement since you don't have to write up complicated features. With the modern stat tracking and banning this would prob be easy as long as the system was automated. And keep the current system for in game to prevent really egregious cases. In a nut-shell, the system that does got implemented should be out of game aimed at habitual betrayers, and we can just keep the current in game boot system.
  16. I'd prefer a hybrid of the two...swap out "exp" for credits earned and use credit as the resource to gain lower ranks and additional high ranks BUT keep the skill counter in. I didn't even try to shoot for 50, I'll admit that, but having a high rank seems useless in Reach. It doesnt show you are good, it shows you have no life. Plus, there were a bewildering variety of ranks, and that definitely did not need to be. Being a 5 star general in Halo 3 is status. Being an eclipse in Reach is chicken-****. And this is coming from someone who never reached the coveted 50.
  17. Ah well that sounds more like a playlist issue though...they should just have slayer in big team battle and objective in big team skirmish. Then again, I'm one of the people who always votes for slayer lol.
  18. Hmm I agree all around, as long as Grenades and explosives are excepted. The majority of the time, people are shooting at others with small arms like the AR so making that damage rebound would be okay.
  19. Yeah I definitely do not think Bungie did it intentionally. I mean, yes of course the implementation of the feature was unintentional, but the fact that they didn't foresee these unintended consequences wasn't intentional. But I agree, Customization is just a dangerous game, especially in something like Halo which relies on a certain amount of symmetry from player to player. But this gives me hope because the way I see it, a customization which starts from scratch, such as out of game armor "perks" (for lack of a better word) have a much better chance of being successful. That and, having the cosmetic customization of Reach + a bit of actual gameplay customization is just a ton of customization, as much if not more than Halo's competition. And I'm looking forward to that.
  20. The previous systems have always seemed way to weak and unsubstantial. Id prefer something which has big bright thermal contrasts, like in the original Ghost Recon. It'd be interesting to see a full nighttime multiplayer map, pitch black, and then big ass blooms from Plasma and other ordnance streaking through. Might be a big too BF/COD-ish for some though.
  21. There's really been no info on what form this "armor customization" is going to take other than that it wont resemble CoD's perks but was similiar enough to earn that nickname for a little while. So who can say?
  22. If you throw a grenade which kills a teammate who idiotically wanders in front of you, you should die too? There's plenty of games of team doubles me and my bros would have lost as a result of that. Yeah ********* are annoying but if you find yourself having problems with people as much as your posting about this suggests, your doing something wrong. The current system cant solve all the problems but it is good enough. You won't be able to get rid of all jackasses so best not to do anything extraordinary to combat them.
  23. Agree with this, as well as Dino and other supporting a choice. 3rd person and 1st person both have their fans and their better off in certain situations. There should be a choice, not mandatory either way. Having the motion tracker would help. Also, as previously noted, your taking a risk with an assassination no matter what, so whats the big deal?
  24. Are you mad, my brother? --- What a delightful story. --- Seriously though this is the same damn cherry picking you posted in your other post. Stop posting multiple posts if you cant post any interesting posts. Your posts are redundant! I am never redundant in my posts when I post my posts. So I would know wouldn't I?
  25. Oh, and Perfer sounds like you are trying to start a mispelling Meme. I perfer this, I perfer that. Rather funny.
