It's a decent enough counter to close-range weapons and the only real problem in Halo 3 was that its role overlapped too much with the Assault Rifle. It just felt a little redundant, and considering it'd had a damage and accuracy buff it was also a little overpowered. If it returns, I wouldn't mind as long as it's less accurate and weaker round-for-round than the Assault Rifle.
