According to Gamespot, Microsoft posted a slew of Screenshots & Game Art from Halo: Spartan Strike today: following the initial Spartan Strike announcement a day or so ago. Adam91 made the post concerning the initial announcement yesterday: http://343i.org/2fx

Gamespot says that Microsoft "boasts" that Spartan Strike will feature "unparalleled visuals" for a mobile game. Concerning the screenshots and images it would seem that claim could be true:

On a side note, the original gameplay video had 343 producer Fred LaPorte giving a basic walkthrough of the game with Ryan McCaffrey of IGN. LaPorte went on to give a brief synopsis of the game. Today, Microsoft also chimed in to give some details:

[spoilerS AHEAD]

Spartan Strike is set during, and after the events of Halo 2: starting in New Mombasa during Halo 2 (in the year 2552). Neither party didn't say who the Spartan you're controlling is, but LaPorte/Microsoft stated that he/she, and a team of UNSC Soldiers were trying to recover an artifact that the Covenant were trying to acquire: which somehow is a way for them to "invite" their Promethean "friends" in. Eventually you lose the team looking for the artifact AND the artifact. The game then jumps 5 years later to 2557: where you go to unexplored areas on Gamma Halo (Installation 03), and New Phoenix.

Wielding many different Spartan skills, weapons, and vehicles, you're mission is to lead a "troop" of UNSC Soldiers (whether or not it's the same group mentioned above is unclear) through 30 missions. You're "Duty" is to prevent Earth from being overrun by Covenant and Prometheans.

Halo: Spartan Strike releases on December 12, 2014, at the price of $6, for Windows platforms: like desktop, Surface tablets, and Windows Phones. The game is also coming to Steam, and supports USB Xbox controllers.

Spartan Strike players can also unlock achievements in-game to earn an exclusive emblem, nameplate, and avatar for Halo: The Master Chief Collection: similar to how Spartan Assault had ties with Halo 4. Unlike Spartan Assault, Spartan Strike WON'T have microtransactions, and everything in-game can be unlocked using in-game currency you earn.
