Popular Post Absolute Dog
Halo Community Unity I have recently been looking over some posts by Twinreaper and myself and have thought about our community and how we are doing. It feels like we are really pulling together again and I feel like we should extend our desire to bring the Halo community together beyond our forum. Take it into match making and the various other places that you interact with Halo fans. We have a brand new game that can offer a brand new start are bringing the community back together and move forward into the future of Halo. 343 Studios has done their part in creating a game that best speaks to the various interests of all of Halo's sub cultures. Where it can not be the one single game any one fan or group can say they wanted as a whole, it reflects as much a possible what they felt was needed for the community, the franchise and to step into the future with a new gaming experience. Twinreaper made this comment in his thread: "Anyone who would go to various websites around the net, could plainly see how divided and segregated we have allowed ourselves to become. Because of the fragile nature of a community with various sub-cultures, we lost our main goal. Our main goal used to be a simple fun gaming experience in which we all participated, respected one another, and worked towards making the gaming experience a great one, for all walks of life and gaming preferences. Now, we have sub-cultures who would rather shun, insult, ignore and plain out despise any other sub-culture whom does not share the same views. This is dangerous! This alone is why Halo is failing as a community and a franchise. We have lost ourselves among the years of gameplay and interactions resulting their of." This is not true of all sub cultures, but it is still a fact within the community. The casuals vs the hyper competitive's of the 'noobs' vs the experienced are some of the divisions he was referring to. You have to lead by the example of how you interact with others in the community, how you represent yourself. Are you a positive influence or someone who promotes negativity. Jeevo 92 offered this in my thread: "Yes. We are. Whether we realize it or not we NEED to be. So by necessity we are ready. I may not answer posts like I should sometimes. Sometimes I let my viewpoint be the ONLY viewpoint that I allow to be said without me totally tearing that person apart. But that's not right. We are all the same in one way...... we play Halo. We are gamer's and we play Halo. I read some of the books, I have all of the games...but that does not make me better or more of a fan than say, (for the sake of what I am saying) little Johnny who is 8 (thats about how old i was when i played Halo CE for the first time) and who just joined the forums an just got Halo Anniversary. His opinion and ideas should have just as much respect as a member who has been here since the beginnin of the games. He is one of us and deserves our respect and our comradeship." So whether here in the forum or out among our community we should always make the real effort to find the things that unify us rather than separate us from each other. Bungie created this whole experience for us and did so well for so long to support the community in a wide variety of ways. We need to continue the tradition of finding ways to appreciate what we have and embrace what the future will bring.

Twinreaper
Great one Dog. I too feel as if there has been some better experiences within the community, and Halo 4 looks to help us even further our bond to where ti used to be. I may not be the greatest person to be around all the time, but I am always here to help and bring people together, that is why I started that thread...to help us heal a bit. I am really glad that i was able to post such an inspiration thread, and see it receive attention. It makes me happy to see people of this community taking the right steps forward.
SykoWolf
See what i believe unifies us is the one thing that lead to this glorious community being created by our wonderful Twam. The game itself Halo, and Games in general. See we should unify ourselves under the fact that we all love games, Halo obviously , but others also. We need not focus on whether someone is MLG, or "noob", or a camper or anything else. We should just revel in the fact that we are all gamers, we come together as a one unit, moving together under the stresses of work and school while still being able to come onto this awesome community and post our opinions on topics or talk to each other in the shoutbox. We need to focus on this ONE glorious fact, WE ARE GAMERS and we should not be divided by simple matters involving casual and competitive gamers Come on people, UNIFY AND REJOICE!!! Drizzy_Dan
I'm still a strong supporter of Twin's 'Call to Arms' thread and I think every step that CAN be taken, SHOULD be taken when it comes to getting Halo fans back together.
The Director
Unfortunately, this one isn't up to us. In Halo CE, Halo 2, and Halo 3, there were a lot of different groups that had different views on how Halo should be played. While this led to debates, and sometimes shouting matches, there was still a bit of unity there. Why? Because we all loved HCE, H2, and H3. Even if we didn't, we could all say that it was still more fun than most FPS games on the market. The main split in the community didn't come from casual vs competitive, MLG vs HLG, Canon followers vs game lovers. The main split started when Halo Reach was released and Bungie announced it was leaving Halo. Reach was the first game released that could actually be hated by the different groups within the community. A lot of casual players love Reach (mind you, I say a lot) and a lot of competitive players hate it. MLG and HLG was for the most part unwowed by Reach. Canon followers despised Reach and the game lovers either loved it or hated it. The full split happened when 343i took over Halo. The community was shocked by how Reach turned out, and then was left with confusion about the company that they had known and come to love (which is rare with a game developer company) being replaced by an unknown and unproven entity. This pretty much shattered the Halo community as we knew it. The bad news is that there is nothing we can do to fix this. The good news is that it is fixable though. 343i has to prove to the community that they can make Halo great again, and make Halo 4 the best game it can possibly be. In my own educated and humble opinion, the only thing we can do is try to prevent the forest fire from spreading and pray for the rain to come and end the drought, if you'll forgive the metaphor. Ryu♥Hayabusa
We all love halo, and we need to get off our high horses and out of our gutters. Being good at a game isn't going to change anything in our lives unless you get into the pro circuit. We all play it to have fun, to pass time, and to take the reality of life off of our shoulders for a while. We ALL do. No matter if you are pro, or not. No matter if you hate or love Reach. You love Halo. Rejoice in that.
