  1. man, I remember the old forums. So devoid of life. hard to believe I was here way back then. So amny people have come and gone, and are still here. So many memories to recall and so little time. I'll just say this, if not for the real friends I made here (those I talk to via phone and text), my life would be a much sadder place to be. AD, I never grow tired of the funny ass things he get into and say. Jester, your a trooper and an awesomely funny guy. I couldn't imagine a forum without you guys. So thanks for the memories, and here is to making hopefully...a million more!
  2. Again, keep it civil guys. 343i promised nothing. Aside from the graphics we ended up with, with the "actual" in-game renderer...we got exactly what we were shown. I keep hearing about we didn't get what they promised. I fail to see any aspect of the game besides graphics, that didn't live up to one quotable or documented item. Anything else is just personal taste being trampled on by the developer. Second, about weapons...yes every game had weapon issues. I keep hearing about this Incineration Cannon problem. Saying it can take out teams in total, and that it is OP. I didn't hear quite nearly the amount complaints about the target locator, that the IC is getting. The target locator was even worse since it could track vehicles. And the splash radius on it was well 4x the IC. But again, not everyone in the population sees or comes across the IC as a problem. it may just be abd luck or bad timing when playing a particular playlist. Third, the online numbers don't mean anything unless it comes directly from 343i or Microsoft themselves. Secondary and third party number runners can pull and tweak data any way they see fit. And no one person can log-on at a particular time and see the overall big picture. You would literally have to login for a week straight and be on 24/7 to get a fully accurate average number count. Again, sites like halocharts don't equate to squat. And yes, not having bungie developign the title is the major underlying cause for the hate towards Halo 4. Just like Reach, as a stand alone halo title it is quite good. But subconciously, people still can't shake the Bungie love out. I've seen a lot of games suffer this effect over my 30 years of gaming. It gets worse before it gets better though. As for the decline of Halo...it is more than just a decline of Halo. Shooters themselves are not as popular as they once were. Shooters now or days are churned out in droves, and usually focus around a common metric. Not to mention that now that the economy has declined significantly, gamers make wiser and more carefull choices with their purchases. There are a myriad of factors that effect a games sales, not just the gameplay.
  3. Well assuming your running Windows 7, you should just be able to plug it in, then windows will install the drivers you need, as it has them by default. From there, it's just the same instructions I already gave you. Just make sure the controller is actually working with another game, then start up halo.
  4. Dude I am so sorry I never got back to you. I went over my mom's yesterday to have my wife a birthday party, and I didn't get home till late.. Without screenshots, I'll give it a go now. First thing is first, make sure you have the wireless reciever and 360 controller already on and working. IF you have to load another game to test it, please do. Unfortunatly Halo CE doesn't allow you to use a controller once the game is already loaded without it present. Next, go to "settings", then go to "Gamepads". If the controller is working and on, you should see the 360 controller on the right side of the screen under "Available Devices". Go ahead and use your mouse and click on it, and it will move it to the "Devices in profile" field. Next, exit out of that menu and go to "Control Settings". By default the game does not allow 2 of the same buttons to be assigned to 2 different actions. The buttons you need to change is the "Action" binding. You will notice that "reload" is the only assigned actionable button, assigned to "X". By changing the "X" button binding to "action", you will be able to use doors, reload etc.... Once you have that setup and all your other sensitivity, stick and button layouts set, you can then proceed to playing the game.
  5. The first MoM you should hide your kids from! Literally...why are you still reading this? RUN!!!! Congrats Church. Wlcome to the club my man!
  6. I can help you with this one, but I'm not at home right at the moment...so once I get home later tonight, I can write up with pictures, a quick guide on how to get it running. Be warned though, for some reason the 360 controllers don't respond 100% and sometimes you will find yourself strafing without even hitting the sticks. Best to play it with mouse and keyboard or a modded Xbox 1 controller.
  7. Camo campers have been around since the beginning, it's not something new to complain about. Long time veterans know better than most, that you always lob a nade around a corner before blindly going around and getting stomped. Same can be said for those who visually know what to look for from playing A LOT. It is kinda hard to miss the visual distortion of camo...
  8. Sgt Major Johnson = Louis Gossett Jr. Master Chief = Guy who played Colosses in Xmen. He's big enough... Cortana = Sandra Bullock Dr Halsey = Jamie Lee Curtis Jacob Keyes = Kevin Costner Miranda Keyes = natalie Portman Lord Hood = Ron Perlman
  9. My only addition to this, is the "Former Bungie Employee" remark. Simply because they worked for Bungie, does not mean that they worked long, worked well or even produced any great quality content. Bungie had hundreds of employees and not every one of them was quality I am sure. More over, simply working for a developer does not give you equal, current or sufficient knowldge to work effectively or efficiently in a new engine or a derrivative engine of something they "once" worked on. For all we know, 25% of the Bungie employees they aquired could have been coffee runners or toilet scrubbers. Employees grow and learn as they work, they never know it all or become perfect in any way. When people speak about needing to elarn to do things, or ways to get things done better, that is a resonable and fair assesment of an employee. The employees of 343i surely want to do and get better at their job, and without criticism and sometimes harsh realities...they will never get better or improve.
  10. As most of you heard by now, I lost 99% of all my Halo 2 lifes work. As of late I recovered portions of my work that will allow me to continue my Powerhouse map and Reach weapon sets. As I have just found, I have a revitalized motivation to improve what I already made....and that is where the community comes in. I am in need of clear mp3 format sounds of all weapons being switched to, fired and reloaded. If anyone out there has a capture card and is willing to do so, please go into Reach or Halo 4 in a quiet, nkn-ambient sounding map, and record the weapon sounds. Your efforts can really help me to bring the weapons I made to greater life, and your work will be credited. Once sounds have been made, just pm me a link to the mp3 files or post them here. Thanks in advance guys!

  15. I don't get it? Am I reading the title and wording of this right? OP, your saying 343i is an independent studio as joining MS instead of MLG? That is not correct. 343i is an internal division of Microsoft. 343i isn't their own studio or developer. Not sure if that helps you at all though, as it seems your pretty mad and bummed about MLG being deal-less.
  16. I need a time machine and a quick fix to being uber sick. Then maybe, just maybe...I wouldn't hate my life right now...

  17. I need to own up to some rather harsh words and ill directed criticism towards a few people here, and the community overall. The other day I made a status update that was not needed nor very nice. For that I am sorry. Also to a few people in the Halo 4 forum section, a lot of what I said was not nice or worded in a constructive manner, and for that I am sorry. A lot of what I have said and posted in recent week has been out of line, and very unbecoming of me as an older member of this site. I know a lot of people look up to me, and see my older member status as "role" model of sorts. I am sorry to anyone I have let down recently. Now on to the sorry excuse as to why I have been out of mind lately. As of today, I officially report that everything, and I mean everything, that I worked on in my life for halo 2, has been lost. I don't report this lightly or take it with any degree of happiness. everything I was and or is working on, is not usable or recoverable to any degree. This alone has sent me into a red frenzee of hate and torment. If at all i come across short with anyone or say something that seems out of character from my usual self, please take it with a grain f salt. Additionally I may just take a small elave until I can sort myself out from this.
  18. Everything is always better with bacon around. If you gotta go, you gotta go. take care friend. See you around hopefully.
  19. If you were really sorry, you would be on more period!!!! Just kidding Elfy. I feel your pain and know it all too well. These types of thigns are a real wallet buster. Best memorial is soemthing small and meaningfull to you and close family. That's what we chose for my mother-in-law. Take your time and find your bearings, there is no rush in coming back. Your loving communal freinds and I will still be here when you can finally come back with a clear solid frame of mind. Take good care of yourself and your family in this painfull time. If you ever need anything or need a shoulder I am here for you.
  20. I'm sick of seeing these posts as well. 1. Your whole BS hacking claim is far from the truth and what actually happens. (I can and have performed memory edits, so I know whats legit and whats not) 2. Azure is not a perfect MM model, but every game HAS LAG. Deal with it. Poor connections of others, can cause your network resources to be utilized to even out the bad ones. If you bothered to read up on the Azure service, you would know this. 3. You gotta be kidding me with your completely bull**** weapon breakdown. Yeah a DMR "can" kill you in 4 shots...if all those shots are dead on in the head. In the heat of battle and with 50%-75% of battles beign heated or unexpected.....it just doesn't happen. Not enough time to react? Well if your anidiot who stands there and scouts to see where the bullets are coming from instead of moving directly to cover...then yes, you SHOULD DIE! 4. Any weapon can be overpowered with the right user behind it. You talk about camping around corners. In the good old days of halo 2 and Halo 3, you could camp behind a corner and get meleed, then 1 shotted to the head. Let me guess......we should nerf melee attacks cause they are OP? Get a grip. 5. There have been plenty of maps that are unbalanced at the start in terms or altitude. Turf, is a good example, as well as Construct. I could go on to include others like Terminal, Headlong, Lockout, etc... No map will ever the fit the bill as a perfect balanced starting ground. Only a complete cube with nothing else but 6 sides would qualify as balanced. Other than that, deal with it and learn how to use your disadvantage of map spawns into an advantage. 6. Having a multitude of additional weapons, also creates a map size issue, development time issue as well as the redundency of some of the weapons. You mention the SMG. The SMG is roughly the same firing rate and damage as the Assault Rifle. Halo 3 had the SMG yes, but it was not very favored over the Assault Rifle. Obviously you have never dealt with the pain staking process of picking a weapon set, and trying to evenly apply them to a map. Not a Forge map mind you...Forge is for wannabes. I'm talking real map making...as in HEK usage. Spend some tiem crafting a custom map from scratch, place spawns, effects, objectives etc... then come back and spout off about how easy it should be. 7. Armor is already fine. Just because you didn't like that they changed your helmet, does not mean the Armory selection poor. I used straight Hazop in Reach, but in 4, it's not my go to because of the drastic change. Changes need to be made, otherwise it gets boring. If I wanted the old Hazop helmet...I"ll go play Reach. I suggest you do the same. And btw, thats a pretty lame attack to make against the game. The armor changes nothing about the gameply. 8. Halo 4 may not have been the best Halo, in fact I was the first person to outright speek about how it fails, but my quarrels are with "actual" technical aspects...not some half ass halfed baked items that apply to only you or a select few who have the same playstyle or wants out of the game. I was gonna make 2 more to make it an even 10 things...but it aint even worth it brah. Peace out.
  21. Most likely, the "Always On" connection is an effort to stop people from using modified Xbox's. If an always on connection is required to play, that also suggests that a connection is needed to be there when the Xbox boots up. If this feature was included, it would almost with 100% certainty, prevent Jtags of the future as well as mod chipped consoles. While this is a good thing, it can be bad as an unknown number of gamers out there, may not be able to afford Live or internet, and play strictly offline 100% of the time. As far as second hand discs go, there are a number ways to make this work, and why it would be a good thing. I don't really feel like posting a huge expo on this, so I'll just continue to watch you guys hash it out, and jump in when I finally see a response that is close enough or heading in the right direction. Think people think!
  22. Good day fellow Halo 2 players. Today I have a few screenshots to share with you, that showcase my newest Halo 2 map edition: Powerhouse. Powerhouse is a direct take on the Reach version with minor texture and geometric changes so that the map could fit and be able to be loaded in Halo 2. Along with the map, there is a substantial amount of "Reach" weapon and tweaks added to the gameplay. Without anymore waiting, here are the shots of it. Expect more as the map develops...
  23. Speaking of Ambiguous...what ever happened to the Alpha options? I hate switching between beta and alpha just to use stillcams...
  24. I can't exactly see where the spectre is it in relation to the loading zone or the end of the level itself, so I will take a guess. Seeing as how you were more than likely above the end of the level with your back facing the loading zone/cinematic trigger, I can only assume that everything was spawned to the other players location. When you spawn at a distance greater than usual Line of Site, you are not teleported inside your vehicle, but instead teleported next to the other player. Sometimes if your close enough to the other person your vehicle is teleported with you...we have seen this before many times. I can only surmize, that because the spectre was launched passed the loading zone, that it landed on the other side of the loading zone. So when the level re-loaded the new bsp, it also loaded the spectre because the engine detected the vehicle inside of it, instead of the previous bsp. It's kinda like taking a vehicle thru different bsp's of the level. Even though the level loads another section of the map, the vehicle remains. The only time this fails is if the newer loaded/post cinematic, spawns the player away from the area in which the vehicle was, making backtracking impossible. A good example of this, is the banshee on the last level. Even though a cutscene plays, the banshee is still in an area where the player spawns initially. I hope that made sense..lmao Additionally, the only reason you are able to do these kinds of things, is because the engine itself loads vehicles and weapons from the shared/mainmenu/single_player_shared resource files. In Halo 3 and Reach, if the vehicle itself does not spawn on a particular section or is located in the map file itself as a reference, you expereince losing vehicles as in they just plain dissapear when a new section is loaded. Halo 2 does the opposite and loads the vehicle and wepaons or whatever, as long as the said item is still present and in play, regardless of reference within the map file.
  25. Not sure who you are, or when you got here but welcome. Lots of cool things to do here, liek chat, post and oh yeah...we got some crappy thing called a Community Podcast going too. You might enjoy listening to it.....
