  1. Official Website YouTube Playlist ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Description: The Ultimate Stunting Tutorial is a video project that I started in 2007. The original goal of the project was to create a tutorial video documenting every stunt/trick/glitch on the Halo: Combat Evolved multiplayer map Blood Gulch. At the time, I knew only 30 stunts on Blood Gulch, and considered this an easy endeavor. However, as I worked on the video I learned more. Over the years the list of stunts grew from 30 to 400. When the list of stunts reached 400, I decided I had to stop adding more to the video. The result of this gargantuan effort is the massive video project I bring you today. I have put my heart and soul into this project. Enjoy. Statistics: Started 04/2007 Completed 08/04/2014 400 stunts 4 hours, 45 minutes 2 seconds of video content 43 video parts Over 600gb of raw footage Contributions from over 100 stunters Thousands of screenshots I don't even play Halo 1, why should I care? You certainly don't have to care if you don't want to. However, if you want to see some of the crazy things that have been invented over the years by the few thousand players that have been a part of the Halo stunting community, this is a project you really should see. Stunting/tricking is a lot of fun, and has inspired a great many people. You should check it out, to see what it's all about. What should I watch? You should start by watching the intro videos. There are three of them, and each is around 2 minutes long. These videos contain highly edited content presented in a montage format. They aren't tutorial videos like the rest of the video. You can also check out the "extras", which are sprinkled throughout the tutorial sections of the video. See the Guide on the official website for where these Extras can be found. Video quality: The video is rendered in 1280x960, excluding the intros, which are rendered in 1280x720. The source footage is mainly 640x480, though the source footage for the intros is around 1280x1024. The reason for this is because this video was recorded before I had a powerful computer, so I could only really get 30fps on 640x480 when recording with fraps. You won't be able to notice it very much, however, save for some slight aliasing along edges. Purpose: This project was done by me for a few reasons, but the first and foremost reason was to share my knowledge and love for Halo stunting with others. Sadly, this project was completed after I and most others have left the Halo stunting scene. If this project were to gain enough popularity to breathe life back into Halo stunting it would be like a dream come true. This project was also created as a means for personal growth. In working on this project I have learned about project management (err, project procrastination maybe?), video editing, working with people, web design, and more. It's been an amazing experience for me, and I wouldn't have it any other way. Concerns: Some of you may be concerned about me. Did I just waste 7 years of my life doing random things in a video game? Fear not, most of those 7 years were spent on other, more important things. My family, social life, school, etc. I also don't just play Halo, I play Skyrim (and develop mods), League of Legends, Minecraft, and various other games. This project, and Halo stunting have both been very important aspects of my life, but they are by no means the only things that have made me who I am today. Additional information: For additional information on the project, the video parts, etc., please see the official website.
  2. Hi Haloman 2, Sorry I didn't get to your post sooner. Somehow I missed it. I did indeed use invincibility (cheat_deathless_player in Halo CE) for some of these jumps, but it wasn't all that necessary for most of them. Using custom gametypes you can set player health to 400%, and then add on damage resistance without ball from an oddball gametype, and you effectively have 8 times your normal health/shield (800%). This is a part of Halo 1, and is very useful for doing trick jumps and other tricks/launches. The music in the video is listed in the video description on YouTube. Glad you enjoyed the video!
  3. It's not dying, it's just degrading in quality. It's sort of like TV shows, after a certain number of seasons the show has degraded in quality to the extent that it just has to stop. The thing is, games can keep going IF the developers take an active role in improving factors which bother percentages of their audience. But it's been awhile since real community service has been a priority for the Halo franchise, at least in my opinion. It's really the joint fate of the gaming industry though. It's part of what happens when the focus becomes money instead of quality. The first few Halo's (mostly Halo 1) reflected the work of a small, dedicated team of individuals whose primary interest was to make a good game. After that it became more so about making a game people would buy. This trend continued until we ended up where we are today, where "hype", "advertising", and "short term enjoyment" are the primary concern of the developers.
  4. Hi everyone, Here’s a halo 1 trick jumping video I made which attempts to do jumps at the level of what’s possible in some of the later halo games. I started working on jumps for this video Summer 2011, and I’ve come a long way since then. This is my first trick jumping montage. I hope you enjoy it.
  5. About time. After years of work this is one of my greatest projects come to fruition. I hope you enjoy watching it as much as I enjoyed making it. For those of you who doubt the legitimacy of this trick, please watch the explanation videos: -Mator
  6. This particular extension of a glitch that was already present in Halo 1 is not a result of different hardware. In fact, it's just about as unrelated to hardware as a glitch can be. The difference is strange and hard to explain. The only possible explanation I can come up with is it was done on purpose, or something regarding the pelican collision model/flight path changed, however subtly, to allow for this. -Mator
  7. Everything that's not in multiplayer does. Clearly any multiplayer tricks will be entirely nonexistent as the multiplayer maps are entirely changed and reachified.
  8. I don't have two controllers and only have access to my xbox on weekends. I mainly play Halo PC. If the above was not the case I would probably have already tried T2T multiple times. :/ Thanks, glad you like it.
  9. ?? Not sure what your post has to do with the OP, I never said anything about my skill level regarding tricking. -Mator
  10. PREFACE: Upon the release of CEA I'm sure there are quite a few of you out there who have been seeing/doing tricks and glitches in the game. I mean, they're fun and interesting, right? Well, I know of great place for you guys to find tricks and glitches to try in anniversary, and to catch up on your tricking lore. It's called the Halo Stunting Video Archive, and can be found here: http://www.youtube.com/h1stunting There you can find over 280 Halo: Combat Evolved tricking/glitching videos, spanning all the way back to the first real "trick" video ever released, , which was released 01/30/2002 by Randall Glass. I keep the channel up to date with the latest tricking/stunting videos and try to create handy playlists that you can use to find certain "sets" of videos on topics which you are interested in (Like ) Check it out, and if you like what you find click the subscribe button to stay up to date with the latest Halo 1 tricking videos. If you want to help out let me know. You can help me find videos, update video descriptions, and make playlists for the channel. There's always more work to be done, and I would certainly appreciate any help you can offer. Enjoy. -Mator FAQ: Stunting? Stunting is synonymous with tricking and glitching. The word was first used by Halo (PC) multiplayer trickers/glitchers in 2004-2005. You'll see I use the words interchangeably when talking on forums. This is because they really all (generally speaking) refer to the same sort of phenomenon, oddities in video games. However, when you get into the nitty-gritty they are different (like apples and oranges). How many tricks/glitches do you think there are there in Halo: Combat Evolved? The answer to this question really depends on what you consider a separate trick/glitch. Using the same general method you can produce hundreds tricks in different areas of the game, but does that make each application of the method a new trick? The answer to this question will help define the answer to the "How many?" question as something between 1000 (considering only fairly unrelated phenomenon tricks) and 10,000+ (if you consider getting into each and every rock in campaign and multiplayer a separate trick). Why did you make the archive? I made the Halo Stunting Video Archive because I love Halo tricking and because I had seen so many great videos disappear over the years. So I decided to take the initiative and make an archive where all such videos can be found and preserved (for you and those who follow!) There's so many videos! Where do I start? You can just go random if you want, that's always an easy solution. Or you can try to start with some of the really old videos. Check out the playlists for , , , , , and . These videos are mainly from before 2005, and will give you a good background on some classic tricks. Once you're through with those check out , , , and some of the more modern video playlists ( , TFA, Ladders, etc.). 11. Thanks, glad to hear you enjoyed them! My pleasure, I'm all for getting my videos out to more people who enjoy watching them. Hopefully many people will be able to see this topic, and the videos therein.
  12. You're most welcome! PC is better viewing experience anyways, so I think that's a good thing, eh? My pleasure. I'll see what else I can bring to this community regarding tricking. I'm sure there's quite a few other topics I can make.
  13. I recently received a request to post some my Halo tricking videos from a member here at the 343i community forums. I decided to post them in a new topic, so here we are. Enjoy! Mator's Trick Video Archive Trick Videos __________________________________________________ Completing the Pillar of Autumn in a Ledge Thread Link Other Links: One of my first great campaign trick videos. This particular video involved taking a ledge which scurty had discovered and explored in his video "Exploring the PoA in SP... again" further. I managed to find a checkpoint scurty had missed and take the ledge all the way to the end of the level. The ledge was extremely difficult in that I had to memorize everything perfectly as a lot of the time the level isn't visible. One step out of line at any point during the ledge would lead me to fall off of the map to my death. __________________________________________________ Touching the Halo Ring in Single Player Thread Link Other Links: This video is similar to "Completing the Pillar of Autumn in a Ledge" in that it too involves ledging on the Pillar of Autumn in single player blind. The challenge in particular had quite a bit of history, going all the way back to 2006 when Ms. Man attempted it. In recent years many trickers had attempted it to no avail. After studying the ledge closely for awhile I figured out why it wasn't working (it kept firing the cutscene on the bridge). By crossing the room before the bridge quickly and skipping a checkpoint I managed to avoid the cutscene and complete the ledge, though I had to do the entire bridge section blind then, which was pretty tough. Tutorials __________________________________________________ Hog Warp Machine Thread Link This tutorial teaches you a method to recreate the Hog Warp Machine, an original trick which I invented and pioneered on the Halo PC multiplayer map Ice Fields. The video is particularly detailed and shows some fairly interesting results you can produce using the warp machine. __________________________________________________ SSE - Episode 1: Full-vehicle insides vs. Half-vehicle insides In this explanation video I explain the differences between full-vehicle insides and half-vehicles insides. The video is mainly made to address issues of nomenclature, though it also addresses halo's physics to a certain extent as well. Challenge Videos __________________________________________________ Waterfall 2 Pit Thread Link My first trick jumping challenge video. Created for jumprs.org. The challenge was first accomplished by Sneakypete. It was shown in the Deadly Stunters Video, which was released 10-24-2006. (This video at 8:06) __________________________________________________ The Hog Fling Thread Link My second trick jumping challenge video. Created for jumprs.org. The challenge was first accomplished by Death Pena1ty. It was shown in the video Unleash the Fury, which was released in 2002. ( at 0:14) __________________________________________________ Shaft 2 Shaft Thread Link My third trick jumping challenge video. Created for jumprs.org. The challenge was first accomplished by TLG. It was shown in the video Tribute to Tricking Part 2, which was released in 2008 (This video at 4:02) __________________________________________________ MDH1TJC - Volume 1 Thread Link This is volume one of a series of videos in which I do halo 1 trick jumping challenges presented by other players. The video features a silly soundtrack and some foxy flycam footage. Trailers __________________________________________________ The Ghost Froom Trailer Thread Link This is a trailer for an upcoming video "The Ghost Froom", which is about a trick which I regard as one of the best ever created. The trailer met mixed reviews, most people were unhappy because they just wanted to see the trick/because the trailer wasn't clear as to what the trick was.
