upton889
Armor should never affect gameplay. No, definitely not. One of the key elements of the Halo franchise is that everyone is equal, it's purely dependent on skill regardless of rank or armor. Halo: Reach expanded the armor selection, this sparked motivation (for me at least) to get the coolest looking gear without technically improving stats. Agreed and agreed fellas. My simple answer to this is NO. I'm all for customizing the way a play looks. I think that is awesome. But armor should NOT give any advantage to the player and armor abilities are not what made Halo what it is, which is a game where someone's skill shows through most of the time because everyone started off with the same gear and abilities (except reach). Armor abilities are part of the reason the fanbase turned away from Halo when reach came out (hence the drop in players online from Halo 3 to Reach). Let the players battle it out without any help from armor and let the skills do the talking!

Some armour allows you to carry a couple of extra clips for a sniper rifle, another lets you move slightly faster, why is there an issue with this? Simply for the issue of keeping the game competitive as possible. When armor abilities and things of that nature get thrown in it takes away from the competitiveness because no player is on an equal basis with one another.
Drizzy_Dan
For example if you need to be a higher rank to get a piece of armor that allows for +2% extra shield or something, that would make it only available to players who have been playing long enough to get it leaving new players at a distinct disadvantage.
Pajama 88
absolutely not. everyone should start the same with weapons and stuff on the map and every1 has an equal chance to get an advantage that way it promotes trying and has a reward for getting better that doesnt involve making the game unbalanced off the start. If someone is trying to get rockets off spawn but cant seem to win that initially battle then they need to work harded to get better that way they do win. Getting better should be its own reward not perks, armour, and weapons. Also to help people get btr in a more comfortable environment 1-50 ranks would make alot of sense
Baby Boo
Well, as I'm trying to say, you wouldnt get anything big like freaking rockets lol. Like example: sniper shoulder = 1-2 extra sniper rounds. Or tactical/recon chest= one extra clip. Something small like that.
Yoichi Hayabusa
I mean armor affecting your game play could be a change in pace with a bit more strategy involved, I don't know its up to 343.
Baby Boo
Yeah I guess we'll just have to see.
Anonymousnorris
It would be neat if different helmets had partially different HUD designs, maybe certain components like the Motion Sensor would be on another side, or something aesthetic. I'm sure that different people wouldn't mind having HUD components in different areas as a preference over the normal HUD.
Tephnos
If the effects were purely aesthetic, such as HUD styles, then yes, that's fine. Anything that changes gameplay is a huge mistake.
haloman 2
I'm for both I just want armor abilities thats all.
Rooster Teeth
I think we should just keep the same Armor how it is with the overshields.
Baby Boo
Well, of course there will be overshields.
AcTiVe Camo
No, as much as that would be cool, it would break an invisible halo barrier. What makes halo halo is that everyone goes into a game equally and have no advantages against each other until they use tactics or weapons. If people were powerful coming in, then other people would be put at an unfair advantage. Interesting but not good for halo.

Fang
If they are minor changes then it shouldnt be too much of a problem. Its not something id be thrilled about but it could be implemented in a good way

a bread loaf
I think that it shouldn't do any thing like extra health or decreased damage but things like increased ammo or an extra grenade or slightly increased zoom just small thing nothing major would be ok I guess . . . will probably rage at it later
Drakell
They should be purely aesthetic imo.
Drizzy_Dan
Again, a few more rounds, whats that going to harm? Nothing. When you're in a BR battle where both of you need to reload and one person has more ammo, that's what it'll harm
Krinn3
No, it definatly shouldnt. it would ruin the series if they started doing that
Unraveldcartoon the forger
I think that if they do add amour with abilities that ODST amour should let you fall from higher hights
Drizzy_Dan
I think that if they do add amour with abilities that ODST amour should let you fall from higher hights If they did make armor affect gameplay that would be a pretty damn cool idea
DoctorB77
If this did happen it would have to be very carefully monitored and easily changeable by 343 if needed.
