  1. The other day GrifballHub held an interview for Halo 4 forge and they answered some questions. What new tools can Forgers look forward to in Halo 4? "We have added a variety of new tools to the Halo 4 Forge feature set that we hope will become productivity enhancers for the creators amongst you. Two of them are: Magnets – All structure pieces now have “magnets” attached to them. When the magnet system is turned on, this will cause pieces to automatically attract to each other. This makes it significantly easier to line objects up correctly. Duplicate Object – You can now duplicate the object you are targeting at the press of a button. Combining this with magnets makes it super quick to build out objects that use the same piece (for example, bridges"). What options are available for Player Trait Zones? "There are a ton of options (and too many to list!) but here are a few of them: Shields and Health - Zones can be created to modify damage resistance, shield multiplier and recharge rate, etc. Movement – Zones can be created where player movement speed and jump height are greatly altered. Player visibility – Zones can be created to affect player visibility." What do you think is the most innovative change to Forge in Halo 4? "We’re excited about the Player Trait Zones. We have been playing with these for a while and have come up with some really cool levels. But we know that we have only scratched the surface and can’t wait to see what all of you can do with them!" Has Forge been made more approachable for novice Forgers? If so, how? "We have worked hard to make this mode more accessible for first-time Forgers. The two largest changes are: D-pad menu – When in Monitor mode, a D-pad menu now appears in the corner of the screen. This menu is contextual and changes based on what the player is targeting. Players will now be able to use the D-pad in a variety of ways, and we think this will make the interface more intuitive for new Forgers. Targeting enhancements – When you target an object in Forge, it now highlights based on its state and there is a small window below the object that tells you its name. We are hoping this will make it easier to select objects and know what kind of object you are holding." What options are available to players to give their maps a unique look or feel? "The big change in Halo 4 is that there are now three Forge environments instead of a single Forge World map (each of these environments is different in terms of aesthetic and geographical theme). Outside of maps, all the ways to modify aesthetics in Reach remain in Halo 4 – lighting, special fx, etc. as well as an expanded palette of Forge building pieces." Will the Grid be making a return as a placeable object? "Yes. The grid will be placeable in the three Forge environments." Will the coordinate system be coming back? "You bet!"

  3. The winning map for the Meet Your Maker - Dominion forge contest is by yet another very talented forger who has produced a number of Competitive and Flood maps for the Halo community. His offering for the Dominion contest was a showcase of his talent and ability to forge high quality playing environments across various game types. He was also recently chosen to provide video commentary for THFE, which occurred long after map submissions, due to his understanding of quality forge techniques and his ability to speak to them so others can gain insight and advance their forge capabilities. The Winner of Meet Your Maker - Dominion is....... by PA1NTS The map reflects an urban setting that allows players to traverse the areas between the bases by either sprinting down the open corridors between the buildings and around the exterior edge of the map, through the multiple levels of the structures - which allow for vehicle use in some cases - or across the 'roof tops'. The maps unique "L" shaped design offers avenues of access and varying levels that provide for a much more 'larger than it looks' feeling. Looking at the map from overhead for the first time the foot print seemed somewhat small with it's six structures and tight interior routes between Bravo, and the Green, Blue and Red structures, but once on the ground you find the true art in Monsoon's design. Alpha and Charlie are reverse mirror images of each other as are the two connecting structures that lead to Bravo, yet it is the creative use of multiple heights for the ground level that transitions into the first and second floors of buildings that give Monsoon it's unique ebb and flow. The varying tiers of the buildings and their open areas provide a series of sight lines for both attack and defense especially when holding the pivotal Green building that is located on the interior elbow of the map. The Avalanche-esque man cannons offer a quick departure form the ground level adjacent to Alpha and Charlie launching you onto the respective corridors between Blue and Red that are the roof over the tunnel that funnels around the interior corner of Green. PA1NTS has given the community such a high caliber Dominion map and it is why we are proud to note him as the winning forger for this contest. Download Monsoon here Second Runner Up Announcement First Runner Up Announcement Winners and Maps of Note from Meet Your Maker - Infinity Slayer Stay tuned to THFE and this site as we continue to showcase some 'maps of note' that were, along with the top three selections, examples of the type of quality and creativity our forge community has to offer. We would also like the forge community at large to know that all of these and many other (what I like to refer to as) premier forgers all use a series of testing lobbies and custom games with fellow forgers and players to test their creations. This process allows them to gain feedback of all types which then allows them to refine the map from it's original incarnation and shape it into the finished product represented here. Not one forger of any merit would be able to tell you they built a map without the help of testing. Whether they have an inherit forge ability or have learned it from others, all talented forgers makes use of and truly listen to the advice of others. We not only thank the forgers, but all of you who were part of the testing and critiquing process. Here is a list of former and current judges for the Meet Your Maker forge series. SaltyKoalaBear Spades N AZ AbleSirThomas The Fated Fire Warholic Psychoduck Absolute Dog I would also like to offer a special thanks to Spades N AZ who no longer is part of our Halo community. Due to his overwhelming dislike for current title he felt he could no longer do what he had done for so many years for the forge community. Spades was integral in helping to form the ties between the various judges and his testing lobbies over the years had helped to find and bring forward some of the talented forgers we have showcased with Meet Your Maker as well as in other contests in the forge community. His dedication, friendly nature, knowledge and friendship is missed by many of us in the forge community. Thank you Spades for all that you gave and continue to give with your lineage of sharing and leadership. ♠ Spades N AZ ♠
  4. These vehicles look as real as they come !!!!!!!! For forging I dare you to find better made vehicles than these aesthetic beauties. This is not a playing map, but in fact a work of art by forge mode king. In this map he truely demonstrates both his skill as a forger, and creativity. Please check the link down below and see for yourself what ive been saying here. Also f you could please comment either here or on youtube page which is located down below in the link. Thank you for your time, and for your kind words of comments.
  5. This map was created by me. It was made on forge island and is a floating map similar to the cage in halo reach. I based this map idea off a map i made in halo reach, but the two maps are no where near the same. I've also added some fake cranes, turrets, and terminals for looks only http://www.halowaypoint.com/en-us/players/blackvenomballz/halo4/fileshare#!/?section=GameMap&view-select=Tile&startIndex=0&details=da970851-fe06-4611-a707-2c63b17d81f5 Download link Also I have a game type as well or you can just disable custom classes
  6. The following maps come from the Forge Hub's Dust Off tournament. The following comments and maps have been brought here to showcase to the Halo community. "Sixty-seven maps were submitted to the Dust-Up Forge Tournament. The staff, old and new, have gone through these submissions in search of the best. Since the recent change in ownership we’ve acquired quite a few new staff members, some of which happened to submit superb-quality maps that were already in the running for the Dust-Up contest under previous management. We figured it was best to give no priority to non-staff members and instead focus on what maps we felt were the best. Both administrations played many games on these creations submitted to the contest, narrowing down the massive list one by one until we had a list of the best in our opinions. After numerous games and what must have been hours of debate over what to include,we are please to present you Forgehub’s first official Map Pack of Halo 4, a collection of the 6 best maps submitted to us through the Dust-up Tournament." Ovr - Forge Hub Owner The Dust Off Map Pack 2v2 Competitive Maps <<<<<o>>>>> 2v2 Competitive Slayer and Oddball Supports 2 to 6 Players Map Variant Download Game Variant Download Here we have Jade, by our very own Audi! Jade is a beautiful asymm hanging in the cliffs of Ravine. The map features great sight lines that offer a dynamic of engagements and scenarios. Map flow is intuitive and the layout is diverse and clean. Jade will have you fighting for power positions and risking your neck for weapons. This is a great competitive map that will bring you to the edge of your seat. - Forge Hub <<<<<o>>>>> Traverse Forger : Hushed Behemoth 2v2 Competitive Slayer Map Variant Download Traverse was designed to be a contender in the Dust-Up map tournament. This small asymmetrical design promotes teamwork, movement, and balances every position in some way. In every place, you can be flanked or initiate a flank on your foes. You are never safe on Traverse. Both old and new staff agreed that this was to be included among the winners of the Dust-Up map selection, and so it was a clear choice when we were compiling this list. - Forge Hub <<<<<o>>>>> Serum Forger : Noooooch 2v2/4v4 Competitive Slayer - Oddball - KotH Map Variant Download With 3 major updates since it’s late January release, Serum has been one of the most frequently updated maps I’ve seen in Halo 4. Noooooch has shown great attention to detail, and has addressed any issues as they’ve become apparent, even going as far as moving the entire map from Erosion to Ravine to remedy some framerate issues. The map features some great asymmetrical room based gameplay and beautiful use of power weapons to promote movement around this arena. - Forge Hub <<<<<o>>>>> Gristle Forger : PA1NTS 2v2/3v3 Slayer, CTF. KotH, Regicide Map Variant Download Another symmetrical map, PA1NTS has made a well balanced arena where green and gold sections must be controlled. The fight for these areas become intense, and more than once I found myself looking around not as a player, but as a forger, trying to glean some ideas from Gristle. Despite this map being submitted to a 2v2 slayer tournament for maps, it also plays a strong game of capture the flag, and some of the possible routes change based on that gametype to make the map more suitable. Definitely a good and diverse map to put in your game nights if you have three friends hanging around. - Forge Hub <<<<<o>>>> Elegy of Entrapment Forger : Auburn 1v1/2v2 Slayer Map Variant Download Auburn has always had a knack for aesthetics and functional design from what I can remember about him, though I also know he’s nearly as bad as I am about keeping his designs going. The fact that he finished a map at all had me interested immediately, and I was not left disappointed. It’s a simple little symmetrical design, but it forces movement through the power weapon and overshield locations, and encounters quickly become deadly in this teamwork-focused map.- Forge Hub <<<<<o>>>>> Forger : Elliot 1v1/3v3 Slayer Map Variant Download Citrus was, according to myself and a few of the previous staff, a given choice for the tournament. The map had few issues in our initial testing, and it played brilliantly. The map is as pretty as it is well balanced. For example, as powerful as the sniper rifle is here, the spawn location for it is the most dangerous spot to be. With or without the deadly weapon from its resting place on the grass pit, Citrus has you watching your back constantly. Your foes always have the opportunity approach from a flanking route, or they try for some long distance fighting. I’ve played numerous games on Citrus, and enjoyed each one. This is without a single doubt in my mind, one of the greatest successes in this competition. - Forge Hub <<<<<o>>>>>

  8. ASSAULT Overview Assault, has been in the sketch phase/forge mode since before the drop of Halo 4! While on deployment I sketched this up to be my first map in Halo 4. As you can see, a lot changes were made from pre-build to near final build that I currently have. This map was originally made on Impact, but the dynamic lighting and everything looking grey and dark grey. I decided to move the map to Ravine. Now the first playable build was version 0.5, which was already a leaps and bounds from the original. But now, the map is near complete and can be seen in the picture and video section below. Take some time and enjoy some intense CTF matches on this, I am sure you'll enjoy it! 11. Ok so im new to this Forum and i'm starting this petition to let 343 know that we (the community) want a Forge world in Halo 4!I I was throwing around some ideas on how they could make a new Forge World, like having allot of different Forging environments into one single map like in Reach, or maybe just remake the old Forge World and put it in Halo 4 as a free downloadable piece of content, just like what Bungie did with the map Chill out in Halo Combat Evolved turning it into Cold Storage in Halo 3. Getting back to business here, all I ask of the Community is to say down in the Comments that you want Forge World back! Don't be afraid to comment either cause there are many Gamers out there that want the good ol' Forge world, and share this Thread so it can be the most popular thing on the Forums! I know its allot to ask but if we can get enough people then we will get what we receive. Please comment idea's too on what 343 can do. Thank You for your time, Love you 343! p.s...... we want Falcons/Hornets back too........
  12. I have an idea and think it would be great. I Forge, a lot, and think it would be amazing to Forge from your pc and send it to your fileshare for download and testing. I mostly had this idea because where I work I have a lot of down time and ideas for new maps are constantly in my head. It would be great to actually design them there, or anywhere away from my Xbox, and test them latter when I got home. It would have to be a download that Halo 4 customers could get, weather it would be free or not is the only question. I don't know. Leave your comments and tell me what you all think.
  13. The point to this thread is that hopefully I will catch peoples (343's) attention so they dont make the same mistakes Bungie made with the Halo Reaches Forge World. One of the biggest mistakes (in my opinion) that Bungie made in the Halo Reach Forge World is, that they had specific plans for each forgeable area, like the Rock was used for Pinnacle, the Cliff Side was used for Asylum, the Canyon was used for Hemmorhage, etc and the rest of the areas are extremely unusefull such as the Island, the Island is pretty mucha map by itself, and the places over the Canyon have no boundaries. This was a mistake, you need to make forging areas that can be redesigned (by the forger) hundreds of times. Most forgers such as myself want to make fun and visually stunning maps made for competetive reasons. I do love the new shadow maps that the objects get or give to the map in the Halo 4 Forge and all the niffty little tools like Magnets, Duplicate and Lock, but we need something that will make a big impact (but "reasonable" ideas) to major forgers. Also I woudl hope that there would be objects that would have similar designs as to what enviroment you are working in, for example, say you have a railing that looks like the Forrunner rails in the Reach Forge World, but in a different enviroment such as a UNSC ship you have the same object but it looks like the UNSC railing, these kind of objects would go along why to helping us forgers make that stunning maps we dream of. Here are some questions that I would like to have asnwered. 1: If you have and entire map built with magnets activated (on every single object), when you select an object will it move the entire network? 2: Can you multi select, for example, select a folder on your computer and the hold shift and select another one, can you do that? 3: Will we see a larger Natural objects pallet?

  17. I thought I would share some ideas I had for the upcoming Halo 4 forge system. I thought of these while playing on Reach's Forge World with some friends. They can be seen below: 1. Time/Weather effects (i.e Nighttime setting or Snow/Thunder effects) 2. Customizable/Placeable signs 3. A "Create-An-Object" feature that would allow one to basically "create" their own pieces and save them in their own category. 4. Breakable windows and operable door systems So, you all saw my ideas on what I would like to see in H4's forge. So I ask, what do you all want to see? Leave some comments and/or responses...well, you all know where, I hope. Oh, before I go, I just want to put this out there. I am the founder/co-leader of a clan on Halo: Reach. I say this because we continue onward and have high hopes of carrying on into Halo 4. If anyone is interested in joining up, go ahead and message DKO Fancy or DKO Xephler (myself). We have a forums page, which I will not list due to the "No Advertising any 3rd-Party Product" rule. PM me for it if you want to take a look We have a decent member count and we're always looking for new members. With its own ranking structure, constant updates, and a flawless winning streak, DKO is proud to accept any willing member that simply wants in. Thanks everyone, and we hope to see you all on the battlefield.
