  1. Wow. Just... wow. This looks absolutely fantastic, one of the most creative maps I've seen in years! I'll definitely be trying this out when I'm next on Halo 5: kudos to you, GreyMuffinBase!
  2. Thanks very much for sharing this! I'll add it to the shoutbox banner, so hopefully others will have a chance to see it before they lock themselves out of their creations.

  6. We're very excited to announce that we're now officially hosting Forge maps for the awesome @ZannyVids! http://343i.org/3bw

  7. As of today, we've officially gotten all of their features working, and so I'm incredibly pleased to be able to announce that 343i.org is now the official host for any and all map submissions for ZannyVids! ZannyVids, if you're not already aware, is the YouTube channel of our very own Zandril, one of the most talented Forgers in the Halo community and someone who we're very lucky to have on staff here on the forums. On behalf of the staff, I'd like to extend a very warm welcome to all of our new Forgers, and I'm sure that the rest of our members will do the same. I hope you enjoy your time here, and I can say with certainty that we're all looking forward to seeing your creations! You can find all of the new submission forums here, and of course, all of our existing Forge library is still available here: don't worry, this won't be going anywhere, and you can still submit to it - although if you're feeling confident, feel free to submit it to Zandril, too! And, of course, remember to subscribe to Zandril's channel, and to follow his Twitter!
  8. We've noticed an increase in spam traffic getting past the filters lately, so please be vigilant and report anything suspicious to the Moderating Team. In the meantime, we're actively investigating the issue, and hope to have some new defences soon!

  9. THANKS OBAMA Would have been even better if I hadn't been on the RNG list every other round, but oh well. Good game, everyone, it's been a lot of fun, and congratulations to pro town!
  10. And why, exactly, are we voting for me? We've already established that there's no evidence at all for me being a Mafian - I personally cast the deciding vote against one Mafian, I was going to kill a second, and more importantly, although my vote would have been enough to get SD killed (my harshest critic!), I withdrew it as soon as he agreed that killing me was basically just guessing and hoping for the best. However, I'd like to point out what happened with Yang. I was up for execution in the first round (as usual), and Melody kindly agreed to change her vote from me to him once I'd asked to, y'know, have actually signed up for a reason. First round casualty? Melody. Why kill her? Nobody could have known she was the Medic, and if I was a Mafian, why would I kill someone who had changed their vote away from me? There's some evidence there for Yang: there's none for me. Yang gets my vote.
  11. Why does it 'have to' be me? I put my vote in against SD because he was trying to kill me without hard evidence, and now that he's acknowledged he was jumping the gun in trying to get me lynched, I've withdrawn my vote. Self-defence, nothing more, nothing less, and it's incredibly frustrating to see an act of good faith repaid with people continuing to advocate for my death.
  12. That's all you needed to say, man. Consider my vote withdrawn!
  13. You were defending me two posts ago, make your mind up! Out of pure self defence. You've created a situation where if I don't take drastic action, you're going to do everything you can to get me killed. I really don't want to do this, but you are forcing us into a situation where there has to be a civilian casualty, and nobody is ever going to sit by and allow themselves to be killed. If I didn't believe that you would try to kill me the very second that my name is RNG'd onto a suspect list I'd be happy to live and let live, but I just can't take that risk. What's happening here is your decision, not mine. At least I'm killing someone who I know to be a loose cannon, rather than just blindly accusing people and doing the Mafians' job for them until we strike lucky or run out of bodies.
  14. You told me yourself, SD, that if the Mafians don't kill anyone they're not guaranteed to show up on the list, and it's the Mafian who made the decision to kill someone who's put on the list if they do. Well, that Mafian died. Ni Nihon was the Juggernaut, Ni Nihon chose to kill someone, and Ni Nihon got killed. So frankly? Yeah, I'm on that list, but it doesn't mean anything because the Mafian who was supposed to show up on the list died before they could be added. It's not guaranteed that there's actually one on there at all, because the last Mafian didn't vote to kill anyone. Believe me, I don't want to do this, but I'm not going to stand by and let you kill me without a shred of proof. I'll remind you that you were perfectly convinced it was rrhuntington last round, so clearly your judgement is somewhat questionable, but whereas I'm willing to admit my mistakes you're only getting more bullheaded with yours - talking about taking control and leading when so far all you've done is make rash and unsupported accusations and get civilians lynched. And when I'm gone - who'll be the next person that you're absolutely certain is the last Mafian? Kakashi? Ruby? Church? Sorry, SD, but if you're not going to learn from your mistakes then I have to vote for you.
  15. You know what? I'm just gonna say this. Yoshi has repeatedly confirmed in public that I am not a Mafian. He is the detective, so you know you can trust him. But if that's not enough, let's look at my record: In the very first round I voted to kill Wam. His death was decided by a single vote - so if I'd wanted to save him, all I'd have had to do is vote for someone else. That's all it would have taken. But I voted for him, and because of that we killed a Mafian in the first round. I made it clear that I wanted to kill Drizzy. I didn't have a good reason for that, I just like the idea of killing a staff member. This is admittedly flukey, but it's a point in my favour all the same. In the last round, I voted for rrhuntington. I feel bad about that, but I'm far from the only person who made that mistake. So, let's state this nice and clear so everyone can see it: I am personally responsible for the death of one Mafian, and made it clear that I intended to kill someone else who turned out to be one. I'm not sure what I've done to offend you, SD, but enough is enough. Frankly at this point I no longer care if you're innocent or not because you seem intent on ruining my first game to the point of trying to get me killed even when I'm not actually on the list. So you know what? Even though I know you're innocent, I'm tempted to vote to lynch you anyway, because if you're not going to work with the only other person who has been 100% confirmed as not being Mafian, then you're an active hindrance to the rest of us civilians and frankly, we can do without you causing distractions and creating cover for whoever the Mafian actually is. Your call, SD. If you're not going to help me win this game then just stay out of my way, but otherwise I'm going to tear off your helmet and watch you choke to death.
  16. I'd be perfectly happy to date RSR. No kids, though, that would be... confusing. Would you rather fall in love, or never fall in love?
  17. Okay, trusting Yoshi on this. rrhuntington gets my vote...
  18. I'm going to ban the next person who uses the 'true Halo fans' argument. Stop invalidating other people's identities, if someone says they're a fan of Halo, that's their decision and not yours.

  19. Okay everyone, the first batch of signature are done! If for some truly inexplicable reason you'd like the original, uncompressed image, or want me to crop it into a profile picture, please let me know, and then seek the help of a mental healthcare professional. @@Jack Of Harts @ @ @@JoeStone42 @@Melody @@technohollow99 As per your request, I really did try to produce something decent with this one. I can only apologise for the lack of skill, and I do remind you that if you'd like something which is made by someone with actual talent, that we have an official Signature Shop!
  20. It could be a lot of things, but if you're new to Halo, it's probably just inexperience. You will get better with practice, and if you're uncomfortable doing that in multiplayer, then there is absolutely no shame in heading into the campaign to practice your shooting, so play a few missions until you start getting comfortable with aiming, grenade arcs, and the motion tracker. Your mechanical skills will improve as you play, and the more you understand the way the game works, the better your decision-making skills will become: both of these things will help build the foundation of multiplayer skills. A few tips: Halo 3 has the best grenades in the series because they're extremely predictable, but can't be spammed. Don't just throw a grenade as soon as you get into a fight - unless you're skilled, you're probably not going to outdo the DPS your opponent is going to hit you with in the meantime. Just start shooting, save your 'nades for tactical use. Tactical use means bouncing Frags off walls and around corner to hit opponents who you can't see. A talented grenadier can put a frag straight onto an opponent's head from around a corner, blowing out their shields in a single hit and leaving them open to a finisher. You probably can't do this yet, so practice in the campaign or Forge! All weapons in Halo 3, barring the Sniper Rifle, Beam Rifle, Sentinel Beam and Spartan Laser have travel time on their projectiles. The Battle Rifle and Carbine work over slightly longer ranges, but you're still going to struggle to hit stuff beyond medium range. Get used to using the melee button, you'll be doing it a lot. Automatic weapons are okay in Halo 3, but you really want to be using the Battle Rifle. Lead your shots very slightly, aim for the chest for the first three bursts, and then aim the fourth at the head. This gives you the greatest chance of actually killing an opponent at the fastest possible speed.# Certain weapons can get headshots, which instantly kill unshielded opponents. These weapons are the Battle Rifle, Carbine, Beam Rifle, Sniper Rifle, and Magnum. Don't bother aiming for the head with any other weapons, you don't do any extra damage and you're more likely to miss. Never stand still. Spartans don't necessarily move very fast, but movement does make you harder to hit. Jump wherever you can to throw off an opponents' aim, try to move unpredictably, and above all, don't stand still. This is the fastest way for snipers to introduce your head to their bullets. Move with your team. I can't stress this enough. Halo has long kill times compared to most other shooters: while in something like CoD two players moving together doesn't really make much difference to who wins a fight, in Halo it completely changes the game. Stick with your team, shoot together, and don't be afraid to hold a position with them. Let the enemy come to you. Most maps have power positions which the enemy will find it difficult to attack: experienced teammates will naturally gravitate toward these. Follow them, hold them, win games. You cannot be a lone wolf hero. Charging a position single-handed works in shooters with fast kill times: in Halo, it's a free point for your opponents. If you're killed, first thing to do when you respawn isn't to make a mad rush at the position where you died, it's to get back to your teammates. That's the basics. But the main thing is just practice: learn to use the Battle Rifle and other headshot-capable weapons, learn to bounce your 'nades, and learn the strengths and weaknesses of each weapon. For example, the Battle Rifle is a strong general-purpose weapon which loses out at melee range, and isn't accurate at long-range. However, meleeing an opponent removes their shields, allowing you to get a headshot kill and thus recover from a bad situation, and although it won't kill snipers it will knock them out of their scope, meaning it's harder for them to hit you. Similarly, the energy sword has no use at all outside of melee range and if someone sees you running around with it they'll start shooting you immediately, but if you hide somewhere or crouch and move so that you don't appear on an opponent's motion tracker, you can use it to attack enemies who don't know you're there for an easy instant kill.
