  1. The current level system only reflects how much someone plays. Not skill. It is unfortunate that it doesn't match up new low levels with some level 60's so they can get some humility. I miss the Halo 3 system and anxiously await it's return so I can see some true skill measurement. Good and balanced review, thanks.
  2. A GAME IS NOT BALANCED IF YOU GET RANDOM DROPS BASED ON HOW WELL YOU DO OR DON'T PERFORM. @ Fatal's #3 - Vehicles should be based on shields of the player, not cumulative damage. It's not right when I hijack or get in a vehicle and it blows up in LITERALLY one DMR hit because it's about ready to blow. The shields are supposed to encompass the vehicle a player gets in and are directly proportional to that. It's always been that way before, shouldn't have been changed.
  3. Everyone that hates it will move on. Same thing happened on Bungie forums, happens on Activision's forums, will continue to happen here for a while. I myself dislike things about the game.
  4. Hey all. First time poster here on 343 and I've been lurking around since Halo 4 came out reading various opinions on the game. Full disclosure: I've seen many complaint threads and support threads and I believe I lean toward the complaint side. Nevertheless, I strive to be objective and lay out some of the reasons that MP has changed so much. I'll start out with a mention of Halo: Reach. It sure is fortunate that there was that bridge between the games or there might be riots with all the crazy changes between 3 and 4. It could've been perfect if Bungie kept control of the series to continue but what happened is Bungie introduced several new mechanics (Armor capabilities) and new weapons (DMR, Plasma Caster). They could've finetuned it and balanced it between Reach and Halo 3 but when 343 takes the wheel they feel the need to "improve" and add even more. Done with Reach analysis. I used to be a member of a proud Halo 3 gaming community. We'd tear it up and have fun and play with whoever was online at the time. We got popular enough to play Bungie. (Beat them 3-0 on their humpday) We almost had an MLG team but some sponsorships fell through. The point is we were good and we were a team. The Halo 3'rs that are still around do not have all our buddies anymore. (My group broke up and I only play with a few of them anymore) We must adapt and find new people to work with that are actually decent AND competitive at the same time. I don't pretend to speak for everyone but I wish I could when I say that "we" are not as good at Halo 4 as we were at Halo 3. By "we" I speak to a lot of the complaint thread authors that do not like what it has become. I have spent over 2 days respawning. 2 DAYS RESPAWNING. (5 seconds is a respawn, math adds up) I have 53,000+ kills in Halo 3. Level 50, etc etc. I DO NOT WANT TO PLAY HALO 3 anymore. I like moving on. I WILL be better at Halo 4 because I am a competitive ***** that thrives on crushing pixels with headshots. I currently am not as good as I was in Halo 3. Here are the reasons why many have become disenfranchised with Halo 4 that loved Halo 3. (opinion/analysis) I am trying to leave Reach out of this. Sprinting allows maps to be traversed much faster and more multiperson encounters. I'm working on killing one guy and another one sprints up behind him. (Or god forbid behind me for an assassination) Hit boxes are extremely easy, too easy or incredibly hard based on varied game performance (I'm not sure if this is also a combination of hosting problems) It used to be easy to dodge bullets from BR's and easily turn around and murder someone. Now you can't do that anymore. It becomes less about skill and more about who can shoot first and shoot faster. "DMR Battles" from 4 are definitely not "BR Battles" from 3. YOU CAN'T PICK UP GRENADES WITHOUT A PERK? That is stupid. On that topic, thank you for Pulse grenades, they are incredibly fun in objective type games. On that topic's topic, OMG WHY CAN I ONLY HAVE ONE WITHOUT GRENADIER?! A super big difference - There are no "X"s. "ONE SHOT ON MY X!!!!!" Oh wait there's no X anymore. I yelled that for about 50 games because it's habit. On this note, between Halo 3 and Halo 4 there came the advent of parties. This strongly works against solo matchmaking because it used to be you either had a mic or you didn't. AND MANY DID. Now many are hidden away in a party with a small group or with people no even playing Halo. Ridiculous for teamwork. Thank you for bringing SWAT in which is incredibly easy now but the spawns need some work still. I have absolutely no quarrel with the DMR. It is a much better weapon without bloom and I love it. I don't "miss" the BR but I wish it was more useful. At the range the BR thrives in now there are better choices with the AR the Carbine (Yep, the Carbine) Tighten the spread on the BR. It was pretty much impossible to miss with any of the solo bullets from the burst in Halo 3 but now you might only hit 1 out of 3 or 2 out of 3. Meanwhile the DMR single shot is very close to equivalent of getting hit with all 3 of the those bullets. The difference on range between them is ridiculous as well. I'll add more later to edit. I need to go take care of some stuff now. Anyway I'd love to play with anyone who's competitive and likes making new friends. (I.E. Callouts and Caring about Winning) I'm not a rager although I don't mind trashtalking but I love Halo still. Campaign was awesome. -short though - I will keep getting better and get used to it. Can't wait for some more maps to come out. I'll be back on here later to post some more stuff that slipped my mind for now. Peace.
