What do you think is the thing that dwarfs the Cyclops mk2.
TerribleTimbo replied to Itz JoshE's topic in Halo 4
My guess is some kind of forerunner thing we haven't seen/heard of yet.- 1 reply

Removing friendly fire makes a whole new set of problems. Say on the off chance that 3 or 4 people on the enemie team are all bunched with your 3 teammates. You shoot one rocket and potentially gain entire map control and/or control for the entire game because your teammates would survive it. Or people sticking a teammate and them running around a corner into a packed room/nook. I really have never gotten the complaints about the betrayal system, it works fine with the exception that it doesn't always bring up the option to boot someone (which you'd love to do if you know it was done on purpose).

So you want ranks but want to throw out everything that they bring to the competitive table? No comprendo.
-
That's one of the worse things 343 could possibly do to Halo 4. As for the whole betraying thing, I'm not sure. I think the system is fine the way it is now without the whole "bounce damage back" thing you guys are suggesting. Most good players know when a teammate is going to lose a fight and will throw a grenade/shoot a rocket in there before waiting to see if the person dies. Now why should that person have damage bounced back onto them when they were making the best possible decision? Or how many times has an idiot teammate walked right in front of someone with a sniper right when they shot? It wasn't the snipers fault they betrayed them. Or someone ends up accidentally throwing a bad grenade and finishing off a bad teammate? Shooting a bad rocket? Accidentally headshoting the teammate in battle when they are super close to the opponent? Determining whether or not hurting a teammate was done maliciously would be far too difficult to determine.

Actually Bungie has said that the CE pistol was made as awesome as it was by accident and they didn't want to bring it back. I agree with the rest of the first sentence of your post though.

I always hated the drop in/drop out stuff in CoD and others that use it. Hmm...let's do some matchmaking...get put on a team down 49-12 and lose within 5 seconds. Or you get people that quit out once things are going bad so they don't get a loss on their record, only to have them be replaced by people who have never played a video game.

Isn't bleedthrough when something is able to damage your health when you don't have enough shields to absorb it? I was unaware that someone actually doesn't prefer that. As for on topic, I'd say take the best things of each halo, refine them more, and add new stuff.

Yes, yes, and more yes. It seems like every halo has increased the average map size while decreasing the movement speed.

How many want the old halo 3 ranking system back
TerribleTimbo replied to daddyxx23's topic in Halo 4
Halo 3 having ranks may have been something to do with this but I blame the lack of people playing Reach mainly because of bloom and/or armor abilities. Most likely bloom though. -
The Mk. II Cyclops will properly be in the campaign.
TerribleTimbo replied to Elite's topic in Halo 4
Since we don't know how the cyclops will operate yet (if it's in), we can't accurately say whether it is properly used in campaign or not. -
Bruiser Forerunner Single Shot Low RoF Low Accuracy Medium Reload 1 shot to kill (N/A headshot) 6 shot/clip Can't headshot Can't dual weild After you hit someone, shots will redirect to another nearby target (if there is one) and deal half damage. Think of it as the shotgun for Forerunners I guess.
-
Cyclone Forerunner Automatic weapon Medium RoF Medium Accuracy Slow reload 12 shots to kill (N/A headshot) 30 shots/clip Can't headshot Can't dual weild Shots can pass through people (like a sniper) and deals more damage to each additonal person that is hit. For example, if 3 people are in a row, second guy would die after 10 shots hit and 3rd guy would die after 8. *Edit, changed RoF and forgot accuracy

I doubt the december release just based off the fact that extremely few big releases ever take place in december. They mainly fall between mid-october to mid-november. If I had to bet money on it I would guess the release date to be either the last week of october or first week of november.
-
The only thing I would tweak on the reach pistol is its clip size. Like...even just increasing the clip size so you could get 2 kills if you hit every shot would be a huge improvement.

Wasn't one of the reasons the halos were made was to help contain the flood so the forerunners could study them? If the forerunners were studying them then I imagine they would have them in test facilities somewhere on the planet too.

I don't want his face revealed. Kinda lets the player imagine that they are master chief since they don't know what he really looks like.

Active camo should go back to being a power up and not be an armor ability. Granted that camo has progressively "sucked" more in each halo, I feel that most people just choose this armor ability because of the radar stuff. Armor lock can be fixed in my mind by making the entire "charge" of it be completely depleted by one use and/or have gun fire actually hurt them while they are using it (will still be useful against vehicles trying to splatter you this way). As for the ones you and your group created: This could be the alternative if camo is actually made a power up again. This may be the only one of yours that I actually like. Completely broken. Pretty much you team should get at least 2 or more kills every time this one is used since you can constantly say where everyone on the other team is or going. This one seems like it would be pointless unless you're using it to just mess around. The other team would have to be pretty dull in the brain to not notice someone their team color running around without an emblem/call sign above them. As long as whoever is using this can't also shoot through the shield then it may be decent. Would be fairly annoying in objective games though, possibly to the point of it not being allowed in those gametypes. I could see this being more abused than armor lock. Gonna lose a fight? Blow yourself up and hope someone on the other team is nearby and dies. Close quarters map? An entire team just camps with this around corners. See a group of enemies? Run in there and kill most/all of them when you shouldn't have. One of the points that make halo fun is the challenge of controlling the power weapons during matches. Having something like this that completely throws it out the window is bad IMO. I can already see it now, someone in btb camping in a corner with this who keeps using it to constantly get snipers. They get awarded power weapons while never leaving their little nook they're hiding in. Would its shots actually hurt? Would it stay by your side until it disappears or just in the area where it is used? Does it actually fire at opponents or just blindly? If Jetpack/thrusters are in then I don't see the use in this. Not saying you shouldn't keep thinking of ideas, they are interesting. But when you actually think of these an how they would be used in a game then a lot of them would be broken.

With the exception of the plasma pistol, plasma rifle, and the mauler, literally every weapon that was dual weildable wasn't worth using by itself. Instead of having half the weapons be so weak to the point of being unusable when not dual weilding, I'd rather have all of them be useful in some way by themself. Also, instead of flooding the short-mid range weapons available, they could instead give more variety throughout the weapon range specturm.

That's the first piece of news that has disappointed me so far for Halo 4.

Either this or a better way of detecting if the player actually was holding down the melee button instead of tapping it.

Forerunners confirmed to be Halo 4 main enemy!? *Pics*

I'm hoping we get a monthly vidoc...but magazine info in April will be awesome anyway. -
I'm glad that there are jump routes from bottom to top to keep people up top guessing and bottom people more options to get into the fight. I'm disappointed by the man cannon news though...never have been a fan of them but I understand why they're used in place of teleporters. I just hope that they don't have a loud noise to broadcast your location when you use them, or that there are enough so that people don't really know where to look when one is used. I imagine that this map will easily support just about every gametype since it is an arena style map, but I'm wondering if it will have any sort of base structures on two sides to make it more ctf friendly. I really want a video walkthrough of this and War House :'(

I think that if we see any other spartans then it will either be ones Master Chief trained with or brand new characters.
-
I don't see how this is drastically different from previous ranking systems (excluding Reach). Unless the TrueSkill system really had a huge affect on things, I'm pretty sure your rank was only affected by win/loss.

If flag people moved at full speed then there would be no downside to holding it really (besides not being able to shoot). If someone is juggling the flag then they are practically telegraphing their location to the other team constantly and thus they constantly have a bullseye on their back. If they choose to not juggle it and go all sneaky snake with it then they have to be careful about when and where to take the flag since they know the other team will be looking everywhere since they can't move too quickly.
