  1. Hi folks! I wanted to pop open the lid on this discussion, as there seems to be little or confusing discussion around this topic. I personally do NOT currently know how to create deep shadows or very dark spaces on maps. I have a map concept that is being built on the Alpine base map. It requires me to create areas that have no light except for a candle or flashlight here and there. Not the whole map, mind you, because much of the action can also happen outside. So I put it to you, the Forging Community, to help myself, and others, come up with some creative solutions! Have at it!
  2. Dark Before Dawn. One of my new favorite albums. I loved every minute of it, a great comeback for Ben. My favorite songs: Failure- very powerful, a great start, and the lyrics were great. Defeated- Always nice to see dark hopeless songs from them. Angels Fall- Simply beautiful. The Great Divide- Reminds me of New Divide. My least favorite song, Ashes of Edan. Not a bad song but it wasn't as intense as the others. In it's own right it's awesome, just not as cool as the others. I appreciate Ben willing to do different songs. My rating: 9/10

  4. Gamer-tag: BERSERK NOMAD Map Variant Link: https://www.halowaypoint.com/en-us/players/berserk%20nomad/halo4/fileshare#!/?section=GameMap&SearchDate=7&SortBy=2&view-select=Tile&startIndex=0 Game Type: Flood(normal) Number of players: Plays best with 16 players but will also play with 8 Description: When scientist found a cave system hidden deep under the surface of Earth, they were expecting to find a new type life form, but not a dormant cell of the flood virus. When the scientist tried to move the flood viruses out of the cave system it infected some of the scientist. They turned into the flood and began killing everything in the compound, after a few hours no-one was left alive. So, many years after the incident a team a UNSC Spartans were sent to the underground compound to investigate why their had been no communication from the compound to the outside world for months. The Spartans found.........Play the map to find out! This map includes very well crafted sight lines and is extremely fun to play with friends. The atmosphere of the map is very intimidating and makes you think what has happened to the compound. Also, this map has great aesthetics and good dynamic lighting. Screen Shots: (The screenshots from Ravine are not from the "Mangle" map, Just the ones from Erosion) https://www.halowaypoint.com/en-us/players/berserk%20nomad/halo4/fileshare#!/?section=Image&SearchDate=7&SortBy=2&view-select=Tile&startIndex=0
  5. GT: Snyder1991 Map: DOOM 3 Gametype: DOOM or Flood Normal (both are in fileshare) Reccomended players: 5-16 DOOM 3 is a small crowded space station map inspired by the creepy lighting and corridors in Doom 3 (example: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JFvKBa3anq4). Most rooms are extremely dark(but not unplayably dark) along with some having flashing red/white lights in them. I also added the "Juicy" special effect to make the lighting/darkness look even better. Everyone I've played it with found it really fun and creepy. It's only made for Flood gametypes, the DOOM gametype gives humans a shotgun and SAW, removes motion sensors and AAs. The last man standing gets 3x overshields with no recharge in order for an epic last battle. Flood Normal gametype removes armour abilities and has one starting flood. Both work great for this map. I have some other flood-only maps in my file share also worth checking out. Let me know what you guys think! Also there are screenshots and gameplay footage in my file share now
  6. Alone is an infection gametype that revolves around the infected being stealthy. There are currently two maps for it, the dark and the fog. The infected spawn with good camo, no shields and a run speed of 120%. The humans spawn with bottomless clip railguns and boltshots, as well as infinite regen fields and do not have a motion tracker. The last man standing gets the speed boost effect, which works as a kind of night vision. There is only one alpha zombie and he gets no special traits Both maps are have very little abient lighting, though the flood seem to have some sort of night vision despite not having the flood effect on them. This makes it difficult for the humans to see the zombies and forcing them to work together to spot and hold them back. Regen fields can be used as a light source though they can be a hindrance if used poorly as they darken the rest of the map while you're looking at them from the outside. Another factor in both maps is that all the humans spawn seperately or in pairs, forcing them to actively search for eachother before the zombies pick them off The Dark is on the map impact and is much darker than The Fog. It has a very roundabout design with very few dead ends which means the zombies always have multiple routes to attack from. The upper center has a low gravity hole in the floor that you can jump over, though failing to make the jump causes you to fall to your death. The fog is on Ravine and therefore has brighter natural lighting. This is counteracted however by a layer of mist that apears at a distance on the lower levels. It is smaller than The Dark but zombies often spawn in places not accessible by the spartans, helping the flood to get the jump on them. Both maps and the gametype are on my fileshare, GT is wolfboy702, Reccomended player count is 8-10. I would appreciate any feedback. Special thanks to Decietful Echo for making the fog and helping me with making the dark.
