  1. The Official Microsoft Store has released a brief overview of the plot for Halo 5, here's what it says: "Master Chief continues his hero's quest. Halo for Xbox One takes the now-legendary saga to new heights and is one of the most anticipated games for the new console. In possession of a mysterious data chip, Petty Officer John-117, aka Master Chief, confronts a new battery of challenges and tests in a Herculean effort to stay alive in a galaxy where sentient life is mercilessly hunted. Pre-order the next chapter in the wildly popular Halo series designed exclusively for Xbox One." According to this, that data chip we saw in the trailer isn't Cortana's, as most people thought. What / Whom is that chip containing? Why must Master Chief take these "challenges"? Is sentient life hunted by the Flood? I would appreciate posting your thoughts Source: http://www.microsoftstore.com/store/msusa/en_US/pdp/Halo-for-Xbox-One/productID.286029500 [it says it's currently anavailable, maybe they released the info by accident?]
  2. I found this while looking for information about the Champions Bundle armor and weapon skins issues at Waypoint. I am curious to find out what you make of BS Angel's post script comment below. lol
  3. The Halo 4 Champion Bundle has been receiving a lot of feedback due to various issues with the armor skins, weapons skins and other noted problems. The new skins sold in the Champions Bundle will only appear in the War Games menu and not in spartan Ops or Campaign. Many players are feeling they have been cheated by not having the full use of the skins in all areas of the game as is with all other skins shipped or purchased previously. A comment by BS Angel, when directly asked about the matter brought this response from the 343 employee. Josh ‏@JSA43420 Aug @bsangel I'm really enjoying it! Just wondering if there will ever be a fix so this stuff works in Spartan Ops. Jessica Shea‏@bsangel @JSA434 That content will continue to be available in War Games only. No plans to change that, unfortunately. There have been some other problems being noted by players since the DLC went live. Here are a few of the complaints. It will not allow to play xbox live on the DLC maps When I try to do custom games it sais player failed to load content. I wish I could see my armor such as the forearms and shoulders in game instead it shows inner-plated forearms and scout shoulders. Only the legs appear as the ones you have selected. Prefect, Mark V and Ricochet forearms display as ODST in first-person POV in Custom Games and Matchmaking. Some Forge items in the “Scenery” and “Gadget” palettes of the Majestic and Castle Map Packs will have incorrect labels. The three new armor mods, along with Champions Bundle content, are not available in Spartan Ops or Campaign. Loadouts are reset and Spartan Points are refunded when a new Loadout slot is unlocked. This occurs at SR-6, SR-14, SR-26 and SR-41. When you reach these levels, you will need to re-purchase all items and redo your Loadouts. No Spartan Points will be lost. Ever since I downloaded the bundle pack, my profile became corrupted. I had to re-download all my other halo 4 DLC content & buy all the halo 4 weapons & abilities again. I'm also surprised it gave me extra tokens. The bundle is soo buggy that I can't run most of the time while I have mobility on me! (unlimited sprint). We will keep an eye out for any more information, bugs or glitches that are being reported and bring answers from 343 as they become available.

  7. Assassins Creed IV Black Flag will not only be bringing back the classic style game play that die hard 'Creed' fans love, but also a new feature that will offer players a whole new way to explore the environment around them. The new underwater swimming experience opens up a vast area for the player to explore and find treasure, upgrades for their ship and other hidden items. You will have the same type of free roam ability under the oceans, seas and lagoons that you find on land except that here you will have no weapons for defense. This means when you encounter sharks, jelly fish, manta rays and various other dangerous sea creatures you must use the environment and stealth to avoid attacks and elude predators because you are the prey underwater. The new experience will allow you to traverse the entire oceans, if you choose, underwater. The one catch is that you need to be wary of your air supply. When diving close to your ship the crew will provide an air bell for use, but in more distant locations you will have to seek out air pockets under rock shelves and in caves. There will be a diverse underwater environment that features ship wrecks, coral reefs, under water caves, lagoons and trenches that are carpeted with lush seaweed beds, sand, clams and filled with all manner of underwater life. In an video interview with producer Arnaud Vaudour, Tom Bramwell of eurogamer.net discusses the new addition of under water exploration in Assassins Creed IV Black Flag.

  9. When I first read this I kind of laughed, but then thought it is better than nothing. Having to buy a game you already own again just to play it on a the new XBOX One is, well, kind of a put off. I mean you want a game when it first hits the market, then realize you have to shell out another $60.00 for another copy plus the $500.00 for the new console. I guess my initial laugh was based on the thought, "Who is willing to pay $120.00 for a game when they can wait a month or two and get it for $60.00?" The DLC seems hardly any kind of an inducement to pay out that kind of money. I am not the one who could legitimately speak to the new console being backwards compatible for 360 games, but can figure the need for a dual purpose disk reader and supporting hardware/software may not be an easy task or financially viable. Hopefully someone who knows that field better than I can explain that matter. Here is the original story that caught my attention, plus the link to XBOX Wire for the statement in their own words. Microsoft's Xbox 360-One Season Pass Guarantee Most carry across. But there's a catch... By Robert Purchese Thursday, 15 August 2013 story found @ eurogamer.net "Good news*! Companies signing up to Microsoft's Season Pass Guarantee - and the big names apparently are - will give you automatic access to Season Passes for Xbox One games that you've bought on Xbox 360. *There's just one catch: you have to buy the game again on Xbox One. Activision, EA and Ubisoft were mentioned as participating, and Call of Duty: Ghosts and Battlefield 4 were name-dropped. It's better than nothing." story found @ eurogamer.net

  11. honor, distinction, leadership, devotion, shinning light, looked up to, friend, nicest member, trustworthy, highest standards, loyal, believer...... These are some of the words....some of the ideals that come to mind when we think of Total Mayh3m. John, as I have known him for so very long, has been one of those few people I have come to know while being part of this forum that have become a part of my personal life. He as a young member had the qualities that were easy to see and that you wanted in a friend and a member of this forum. It is hard for me to truly highlight all of what Mayh3m has given to this forum because some of what he gave was his strength in fellowship which impacts all of us in sometimes unseen ways. This was reflected by a passage from the Bible he used in his signature for so long. The simple truth of this passage is this....."You need good friends, and you need to be a good friend. Iron can sharpen iron, and a good friend can sharpen a friend. The iron of a file can make a blade sharp, and a good friend can make his friend better.". Mayh3m has been this friend for me and many others. One of John's best posts came at a time when we needed to hear a voice such as his. This following is an excerpt for his OP titled "-A Message to the Community-" "Selfless, honest, friendly, and willing. Be that kind of member. The kind of member that is willing to take the time to explain something to a new member instead of pointing them in a different direction. We are ALL guilty of it, even me, but I want to see a change of character for the BETTER in this community... and it all starts with YOU." -Total Mayh3m He has been a member our our community since October 2011. He has been a friend to so many members, both past and present. He was always willing to help out with even the smallest of chores until he finally became our Face Book manager and served there as he did as a member, with distinction. He later was offered a chance to moderate our community and has done so with, what Jester referred to as, 'distinction'. That is probably the best way to sum up Total Mayh3m's membership and service to our community. He will continue on here as a member, but has decided to step down from his moderating position due to his need to give his fullest attention to his personal life and the opportunities it is providing for him. John, as in the very story about an 'unexpected journey' that your signature implies, you have been part of that 'unexpected party' that has helped build and shape this forum. You will be one of those who, if we all meet someday, can look across the room and offer that knowing smile and nod of the head because we were all part of that unexpected journey that brought us all together and created such a unique forum. So.....out of respect and in our most robust manner, let us all give Total Mayh3m our deepest thanks and cheer for all he has given us in his years of membership and service and welcome him, as friends do, to Legendary membership status! Thank you John.....for everything.
  12. Left 4 Dead fans may have something to look forward to based off of a photo taken of an internal change log at Valve's headquarters in Seattle, WA. Check out the enlarged images and see for yourself! Left 4 Dead 3 and Source 2 spotted during tour of Valve's office Published Tuesday, 6 August 2013 By: Wesley Yin-Poole Left 4 Dead 3 and Source 2 were spotted by members of the Dota 2 subReddit during a recent tour of Valve's Seattle office. During the tour a picture was taken of an internal change log, which mentions Left 4 Dead 3 and Source 2. NeoGAF user "CyborgMatt" produced a zoomed in version, which shows the interesting part in all its glory. The appearance of Source 2 - the second iteration of Valve's own game engine - comes as no surprise. Back in November 2012 Valve chief Gabe Newell confirmed the company was working on a new game engine. "We've been working on Valve's new engine stuff for a while, we're probably just waiting for a game to roll it out with," Newell said at the time. Is that game Left 4 Dead 3? In October 2012, Eurogamer asked Valve's Chet Faliszek if he'd like to make a third game in the co-op zombie shooter. "You know, some time down the road," he replied. "Like anything, I would say that to all of our games. So that's not a promise of when or where." But would you like to? we pressed. "I really love working on that series. It's one of my favourite series. It's just so much fun with the characters and the world. I love zombies and I love horror. So, yeah." The original Source engine debuted with Counter-Strike: Source and Half-Life 2 in 2004. Enlarged Image

  14. In an effort to help gamer's understand the XBOX One's capabilities and what some actual features are Marc Whitten, Chief XBOX ONE platform architect, answers some questions posed by Ryan McCaffrey, IGN’s Executive Editor of Previews and Xbox Guru-in-Chief. Below is a current IGN article that highlights a series of questions and their answers. Ask Microsoft Anything About Xbox One Answers on Microsoft's new console, straight from the horse's mouth! Soure: I GN As the Xbox One gets closer to its November launch, many questions remain about how the console works and what it can do. So we reached out to Microsoft and asked them if they could definitively clarify some of these things. They obliged, and so we'll be bringing you a handful of Ask Microsoft Anything answers each Monday at 2pm PDT/5pm EDT. Bookmark this page, as we'll update this article so that all the answers live in one easy-to-find place. Oh, and if you've got a question for Microsoft about the Xbox One, send it to our Podcast Unlocked team at [email protected] and we'll make sure Microsoft sees it! Are Xbox 360 Avatars transferring over? If so will any changes be made to them? MARC WHITTEN, CHIEF XBOX ONE PLATFORM ARCHITECT: They are – your avatar will be on the system at launch and in fact, you’ll have some new options, including the ability to do full-body HD gamerpics. By the way, we should actually talk more about gamerpics too. We’ve moved from the 64x64 gamerpics on Xbox 360 to a full 1080p. They are beautiful, and you are going to see some really cool hero moments, like when you login to see personalized views of your games and other content. Can you clarify how will Xbox Live Arcade work on Xbox One? Or if it will exist at all? WHITTEN: Sure – there is no difference between games in the store – games are games are games! You’ll find them in the same pivots (most popular, new, etc.) and we’ll be highlighting them in our dashboard experience. And of course – like all of your digital games content – you can play them on any Xbox One, and anyone can play them on your Xbox One. Will the Game DVR capture at the source resolution? i.e. will Forza 5 clips capture at 1080p and 60fps? And where can Game DVR clips be uploaded to? WHITTEN: Game DVR captures beautiful clips at 720p 30fps. The first thing you’ll see with our game DVR is the integration of our Upload service on the console. This service allows you to manage, edit, and share your content. Your clips are stored in the cloud. Also, you’ll see games making “magic moment” videos of your gameplay based on the game DVR functionality – all seamlessly integrated. You’ll be able to see these clips in the Xbox One Guide, in your own game DVR collection, and when you are looking at gamercards on the system. You’ll also see games take advantage of this platform capability and do interesting things to integrate captured game footage into the game experience itself. Can you earn two sets of Achievements for the same game (i.e. Playing Call of Duty Ghosts on Xbox 360 and on Xbox One)? WHITTEN: Every game has its own set of achievements, so if you’re playing Call of Duty: Ghosts on Xbox 360 and on Xbox One, you can earn a separate set of Gamerscore in each game. But on the Xbox One version, you’re getting a much richer set of features, such as seeing your achievements progress on the Xbox One console, being able to unlock new achievements throughout the year, and earning real prizes inside and outside of the game. Xbox One also enables a new concept of challenges, where games will be offering special time-based opportunities to earn various goals and collect the rewards. More info on challenges can be found on Major Nelson's blog here.

  18. Well the time has finally arrived, the Get A Clue Forge Contest results are in! As a Clue enthusiast, I was lucky enough to be handpicked by Master Debaytes as one of the contest judges, and i can tell you it was a hoot to participate. Playing submissions nightly in Clue lobbies, and genuinely having a great time in the process. Many fantastic clue maps were submitted, it became quite tough to decide an order near the end. So without further adieu, here are your results! - CORDUROYCHUCK First Place CHATEAU DE CLUE 2!! by FragsturBait It has everything you could want from a clue map. From a starting dock with plenty of secrets looming down below, to a dragon overlooking all the explosions and blood. As an innocent you've got plenty of places to go in an attempt to stay safe, but a killer could always be lurking in the trees above. Yes, in the trees. If you're smart you'll try and stay up high and watch with the dragon. If you're lazy, maybe you'll hide in a crate or have a seat in an impossible chair. As a killer, it's a playground. Remember those trees? Yeah. I can recall instances where i'd hop through them all Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon style. Finding cover after committing a violent act can be very easy, the map's got plenty of castle walls to hide behind or rooms to calmly have a seat in. Impossibly. Fire an incineration cannon, make the peasants think the dragon's burninating the countryside, or quietly lurk in the hidden rooms below, it's truly up to you on Chateau De Clue 2. - CORDUROYCHUCK This forum under construction.
  19. "Conversion is an asymmetrical, progressive-objective based game mode. It has many similarities to modes such as Invasion and Territories in Halo: Reach alongside a balanced weapon setup and the smooth gameplay of Halo 4. It is a blend of some of the best features from the Halo series and it will fill the void many feel in the series after the removal of asymmetric game modes with Halo 4. While many people have tried to make similar modes to try to recapture Invasion in Halo 4, The Psycho duck and I decided we wanted to create a standardized mode and map type so that many people could become involved not just in playing Conversion, but in making their own maps for it. Because the mode is standardized and the maps designed around it, anyone who has played the game mode could potentially make their own Conversion map. There are 2 completed Conversion maps fully tested and ready to be played right now, both created by Duck and myself, but there are also many more in the works or in the planning stages by other members of the Halo community. The game type is not modded, so for those of you who prefer to shy away from modding this mode is completely legitimate." - Flyingshoe ILR "The first of those maps is Firebase, a medium sized Conversion map set on Ravine. Firebase uses Ravine's terrain in new and interesting ways in order to feel like a completely different place, yet still feel rooted in the Halo universe. Firebase features a Rocket Warthog for the attackers and plenty of power weapons for both teams. Gameplay is fast paced but strategic, and positions of power on the map are often as important to hold as the objective itself." - Flyingshoe ILR Firebase Map Variant Download Conversion Game Type Download <<<<<<<<<<o>>>>>>>>>> "The second map is Colony, a large scale Conversion map set on Impact. This map is much larger than Firebase and more vehicle heavy, with a Rocket Hog, Ghost, and Mantis roaming the map and more power weapons at the player's disposal. Colony flows very differently from Firebase but still follows the same formula, and teamwork and communication are still the keys to victory." - Flyinshoe ILR Colony Map Variant Download Conversion Game Type Download <<<<<<<<<<o>>>>>>>>>>
  20. The following maps come from the Forge Hub's Dust Off tournament. The following comments and maps have been brought here to showcase to the Halo community. "Sixty-seven maps were submitted to the Dust-Up Forge Tournament. The staff, old and new, have gone through these submissions in search of the best. Since the recent change in ownership we’ve acquired quite a few new staff members, some of which happened to submit superb-quality maps that were already in the running for the Dust-Up contest under previous management. We figured it was best to give no priority to non-staff members and instead focus on what maps we felt were the best. Both administrations played many games on these creations submitted to the contest, narrowing down the massive list one by one until we had a list of the best in our opinions. After numerous games and what must have been hours of debate over what to include,we are please to present you Forgehub’s first official Map Pack of Halo 4, a collection of the 6 best maps submitted to us through the Dust-up Tournament." Ovr - Forge Hub Owner The Dust Off Map Pack 2v2 Competitive Maps <<<<<o>>>>> 2v2 Competitive Slayer and Oddball Supports 2 to 6 Players Map Variant Download Game Variant Download Here we have Jade, by our very own Audi! Jade is a beautiful asymm hanging in the cliffs of Ravine. The map features great sight lines that offer a dynamic of engagements and scenarios. Map flow is intuitive and the layout is diverse and clean. Jade will have you fighting for power positions and risking your neck for weapons. This is a great competitive map that will bring you to the edge of your seat. - Forge Hub <<<<<o>>>>> Traverse Forger : Hushed Behemoth 2v2 Competitive Slayer Map Variant Download Traverse was designed to be a contender in the Dust-Up map tournament. This small asymmetrical design promotes teamwork, movement, and balances every position in some way. In every place, you can be flanked or initiate a flank on your foes. You are never safe on Traverse. Both old and new staff agreed that this was to be included among the winners of the Dust-Up map selection, and so it was a clear choice when we were compiling this list. - Forge Hub <<<<<o>>>>> Serum Forger : Noooooch 2v2/4v4 Competitive Slayer - Oddball - KotH Map Variant Download With 3 major updates since it’s late January release, Serum has been one of the most frequently updated maps I’ve seen in Halo 4. Noooooch has shown great attention to detail, and has addressed any issues as they’ve become apparent, even going as far as moving the entire map from Erosion to Ravine to remedy some framerate issues. The map features some great asymmetrical room based gameplay and beautiful use of power weapons to promote movement around this arena. - Forge Hub <<<<<o>>>>> Gristle Forger : PA1NTS 2v2/3v3 Slayer, CTF. KotH, Regicide Map Variant Download Another symmetrical map, PA1NTS has made a well balanced arena where green and gold sections must be controlled. The fight for these areas become intense, and more than once I found myself looking around not as a player, but as a forger, trying to glean some ideas from Gristle. Despite this map being submitted to a 2v2 slayer tournament for maps, it also plays a strong game of capture the flag, and some of the possible routes change based on that gametype to make the map more suitable. Definitely a good and diverse map to put in your game nights if you have three friends hanging around. - Forge Hub <<<<<o>>>> Elegy of Entrapment Forger : Auburn 1v1/2v2 Slayer Map Variant Download Auburn has always had a knack for aesthetics and functional design from what I can remember about him, though I also know he’s nearly as bad as I am about keeping his designs going. The fact that he finished a map at all had me interested immediately, and I was not left disappointed. It’s a simple little symmetrical design, but it forces movement through the power weapon and overshield locations, and encounters quickly become deadly in this teamwork-focused map.- Forge Hub <<<<<o>>>>> Forger : Elliot 1v1/3v3 Slayer Map Variant Download Citrus was, according to myself and a few of the previous staff, a given choice for the tournament. The map had few issues in our initial testing, and it played brilliantly. The map is as pretty as it is well balanced. For example, as powerful as the sniper rifle is here, the spawn location for it is the most dangerous spot to be. With or without the deadly weapon from its resting place on the grass pit, Citrus has you watching your back constantly. Your foes always have the opportunity approach from a flanking route, or they try for some long distance fighting. I’ve played numerous games on Citrus, and enjoyed each one. This is without a single doubt in my mind, one of the greatest successes in this competition. - Forge Hub <<<<<o>>>>>
