The Official Halo 4 Forge Thread

i would really like a map that is literally blank. just open space with nothing in it. no pre-made landforms like in forge world, a completely bank empty space. although, a map similar to forge world would need to be available as well.

 

If have already said this, but instead of a bunch of maps, why not make one insanely huge map (bigger than forge world) that includes all the different biomes in the world including an ocean and a concrete jungle.

We could make all the smaller maps on this big one, and since there is only one map the build pallet can be bigger and the budget through the roof.

In order to tell what the map looks like in the lobby they will have to add a camera (similar to the load-out camera) so players can more precisely vote for the maps they want.

keep this a forge post there have been to many replys on things other than FORGE... for things other than forge try my new thread HERE

 

ALSO some things you guys are saying that you want, would make the game crash every 3 seconds...Keep it somewhat realistic...

 

 

ive seen many posts on how we want the new forge to be and what we want added, so this is a response thread, and i would like you all to post wht u want added and changed for halo 4. lets make this popular so 343 will see and take our feedback

ill start

 

1. odst drop pods-ive been trying to make them since halo 3 but they never looked as cool or performed the right way. when you got in them you clip ur weapon into the side and take control of the pod and maybe have a little manuever capabilities.

 

 

2. ammo-yes i know theres other posts on these but i want to sum it all up and i give credit to whoever came up with it. anyways ammo of all sorts on the map tht u could pick up. you can make the any types of ammo you want and they come in like the little unsc ammo boxes or covenant ones.

 

3. dead bodies and blood stains- yes weve all seen them in the campaign but what if you could make a scene of your own? for instance you wanted to make a somewht scary infection map so you make the lighting dim and put a few human bodys down the hallway with blood stains on the walls. sick right? or maybe you want to make a regular battle map and put dead spartans and elites and all other types of bodys and put them all over the map. the ideas r endless. they could do it three ways. they could either do it like (spartan type 1, spartan type , spartan type 3) in the forge menu and it picks out three different scripted armors and colors to place around, idea #2 is there is just one option for each type of body (ie spartan, elite, marine, grunt, etc) and it randomly makes body type made up of armor and colors. and its random so everytime u choose the option over youll get a, lets say were using a spartan body, and the colors and armor types are randomly generated every time. #3 is you can get more advanced and pick the armor thats on tht body type and the specific color. and there can be all types of bodys like as for blood stains we put in all the basics. the regular red human blood, the light blue grunt blood, the purple jackal/elite blood, green skirmisher/bugger blood etc. and then you can place it or stick it to any surface object such as a wall or ceiling or floor.

 

4. this is also a biggy. many feel tht forge 2.0 was a let down because not all vehicles and possibilities were put in. im not just talking about the standard vehicles like in reach, im talking more. depending on wht vehicles they take out and put in halo 4, will change this, but they should have all the standard vehicles tht u would expect. Now, onto the big stuff. we need more variety to make bigger better maps and gametypes. like vehicles tht werent put into any halo forge. first off we should bring back the elephant from halo 3. although slow and somewhat vulnerable, it was invincible and made multiplayer and custom games turn into some wacky situations. but thts wht we love about halo all the crazyness tht can happen. i remember big team battle in halo 3 where both teams drove the elephants next to each other facing the other direction and as we were shooting and bombing the other elephant we all got this urge to become pirates and started jumping and boarding each others "ship" lets just say noone got the objective. anyways yes we want the old elephants back they were fun no matter wht. now some other vehicles. yes they should also throught in some easy to throw in vehicles such as the forklift and the troop hog. maybe even some civilian vehicles. those are a no biggy. but wht about pelicans and phantoms? is it possible we could forge them and fly them around? we would be able to load all the seats up with players and invade all at once quick and clean. whether they are invincible like the elephant is up to them. but even if we couldnt load up the phantom and pelican and sit in the seats and drive them, why not put them on the map anyway? thnk invasion where we could just place a phantom or pelicn to extract the core, and although we would be able to full interact maybe we could jump in the hangar and just use thier turrets? not a bad idea, but i would love to drive them and store my whole team in them. of course this is for forge not multiplayer so everything will be fine and balanced. unless 343 comes up with some crazy gametype with a pelican you never know! besides all tht, ik this is probably impossible but wht about ships? such as covenant cruisers and the unsc frigates with explorable hulls tht you could also put stuff in? hackers put the frigates on sandtrap on halo 3? why can a game developer do it? atleast its legal. but even if they couldnt how about smaller ships such as the one the odsts drop out of, tht are only half the size of the frigates? and for the covenant how about a corvette instead of a supercarrier? the ships may not happen, but pelicans elephants and all the others are possible.

 

5. yes this is just a little idea. spawn different interiors and buildings. yes ik its crazy but think about it. maybe spawn the interior of a building in exodus in reach or the flood lair where all the flood eggs are on halo 3? then for buildings maybe spawn a specific forerunner structure such as the one at the end of halo 3 where *** ******* dies. crazy but just an idea

 

6. this is just a small not important idea. ive always wanted to make a battlefield look worn and show tht something happend here before. so i think it would be kinda cool if you can spawn a destroyed version of a vehicle and place it on the map, uve probably seen the most commen ones the warthogs destroyed throughout the campaign. and yes ik i could just blow up my vehicle but then it dissapeaars eventually

 

7.this is another small one, just random crap like trees and plants to maybe make a cool jungle or forest map

 

ok......now just take a minute and seriously think about how cool and detailed we could make forge..take a minute, breath it all in, and just think of the possibilities. there endless. just a forge world with all of these features would set the standard so high and blow the competition away. but now its ur turn. comment wht u think about the suggestions provided and write wht u would like to add. hopefully 343 will see this and take some of it into consideration.So comment and tell urs.

One of my friends and I have been talking for hours on end about how Halo: 4 could be improved. We totally agree on everything in your post, and have a few ideas of our own:

 

Change the Scorpion and Wraith. FOR GODS SAKE, I am SICK of the Scorpion being able to destroy pretty much anything in 1 or 2 shots, and also reloading. Don't get me started. It is WAY too fast. I don't know about you guys, but a big tank like that, even IF it had some sort of auto-reload function, would not be able to reload that fast. Also, too accurate and way too big a range.

 

Moving on, the Wraith is UNDER-powered, too inaccurate (the projectile curve is a little over-exaggerated, and so slow you can simply walk out of the way), and the Wraith itself is way too slow. For some reason, I am constantly killed by the machine-gun turret, rather than the gunner. The only thing that the Wraith is useful for is to make Warthogs flip.

 

 

 

Falcons. Yes, I know that they are a great vehicle, and we all enjoy them in a whole. But, I would love to be able to use the passenger seats as well as the turret seats. Also, possibly the Falcon with Machine gun attachment? Possibly it would only be available on Forge, as it would get f**** annoying on Matchmaking.

 

 

 

MORE GRENADES! I want the famous Brute grenades, and perhaps a new UNSC or Forerunner grenade, since it is a Forerunner world-ship-thing that you see MC being drafted into in the teaser.

i would like to see forge mode open with a promt that asks you how big you would like your map to be. then after you select that map size you see a black screen with gridlines all over. the outside boundries gridlins might be red while interior vertical gridlines are blue and horizontal interior lines green.

 

as you look around inbeteewn all of the red blue and green lines you notice your riticule. you show up as the monitor again and you can select areas inbetween the lines and chose to color it. you get a small window that shows a hand full of tiels like snow or sand or water or forerunner gray walls or unsc type walls or covenent type walls. point is you say i want this little bit right here solid and this texture to it. then after you get all of the triangels or polygrams for the outerwalls colored, they would all still be completly level., so you would need the ability to then grab that triangle and raise it or lower it or maybe just raise or lower one corner of it.

 

 

in this way you could create maps that are as intricate as bungies, and it would eliminate the need for peices in the forge.

 

what im suggesting is basicaly take the map editors from warcraft 2 and 3 and rollercoster tycoon and halo 3 and reach and combine them all to gether to make a program more like photoshop and less like paint!

why not make a space map too in forge? we can make huge fleet to fleet battles

with:

marathon and halcyon-class cruisers

unsc frigates

unsc carriers

longsword and sabre fighters

ccs class battlecruisers

assault carriers

space banshee intercepters and seraph intercepters.

and why not but AA guns on our ships?

star wars was been doing space battels for a while and one or two of their games actually made it fun and reach tried to copy for a second. when you read the halo books they say that unsc kicks ass on the ground for the most part but struggel in space battels except for a few rare ocasions. i think a vehicular space multipalyer map would be fun maybe you dont need the giant vehicals but for sure the small and mid size. also banshee's should be just a little harder to kill.

I think it would be cool but I think I would not forge as much as I do now. I don't want to have to do quite that much work. Starting from scratch is a lot of work. Also I like that there is at least a thread of familiarity with forged maps. It helps people keep their bearings during a fight. We will have to wait and see.

This please! I am going to relate to Starcraft 2 again by saying it could work like the Space Battle mod, or maybe like Battle Stations Midway if anyone here has ever played that.

another good idea would be to be able to spawn larger structures such as the large beacons in the level halo and the map infinity. to make large maps better with larger structures. and be able to build underground so you can make underground tunnel systems. another would be light bridges. to bridge large gaps and generally improve the look of things. and be able to spawn human and covenant objects. that would be able to suit different people's preferences. another would be large pieces of ships instead of a whole ship. that way you could build a whole ship, or construct a crash site. and make it so objects not only have a rotational snap, but to be able to snap to other objects as well. that would make building structures easier and more efficient. and be able to make functional doors. you could put a door with a switch, or an automatic door. and connectible hallways of different designs. such as the human ones that use the square design with the airlocks or the massive forerunner hallways in halo ce. these are all object add ons of course so they are not very demanding on the game itself. and, this would make things interesting because there would be no way to tell who or what is on the other side of the door. you run to a door, hit the switch, and hello! another guy is on the other side and now you both fight to the death. that would be really fun.

 

 

 

ok BUT when i piece the ships together

they should autimatically like lock together

but show i in a visualization too so we know that the ships is locking together (not jut locking together but also diverting the eletrical power to the other section of the ship

Well a forge only warthog could be different than the average warthog with a turret. They could change the setup of the normal hogs and have it so the engines in the back replacing the turret and since there's more room back there then up front it could be pretty fast compared to the others at least by 10 or 15%. And the front could be a place to hold weaponry. However the hog could only hold two people but that's not much different from gameplay anyway.

 

Although that warthog could have (i say could have) a booster canister with a limit that doesn't refill located beneath the hog and, when shot or hit by a grenade, could go boom and completely destroy the hog.

What if firefight started with a hot drop in a forged map and instead of a fixed area have it in a large scenario with the enemies already down there fighting for control. Firefight could become a control scenario yet they still come in waves.

 

Just a spontaneous thought.

well, it depends on the size of the campaign, really. But, If we're not thinking about a campaign too big, I would say:

disk 1: campaign, forge, theatre

disk 2: multiplayer, custom games, firefight, theatre.

 

 

 

More on forge.

Yes, having switches would be good, as well as elevators. the idea of the elevator should be created in a way that we could create those things that appeared in Halo 2 which we used to move around between island in Delta Halo. (don't know the name)

Meaning, one should be able to create an object and tell it to move from A to B after pressing the switch X.

 

This reminds me of the creation of moving objects, imagine: sme creates two pirate ships, have them pass near each other and leave; good for a funny CTF or assault game, for example.

The area with the gondolas in Delta Halo could be a great thing for maybe even a map alone. It would be even better if we could forge them, but whatever 343 can do.

 

 

The elevators in AOTCR would be cool to have too.

i Agree 100% on all of this cause i want all this as bad as any other person who has wanted this i mean the terrain idea is beyond thinking i mean just think how awesome forge would be awesome with pelican,phantoms,real structures,and a huge ass map that we can build any thing on, changing terrain add vehicles like the frigate Or the corvette and drop pods and we need a huge campaign like halo 2 just imagine halo 4 you playing it right now and all this cool stuff is in it you may be driving pelican to drop off troops but suddenly you get shot down but some but let me add something to take it to the next level but what if this all happen in theater mode where before you play the map you can make a cool short video for the beginning like i the one i just said then you could spawn by the crashed pelican. see there's so many ideas that halo fans have but we are limited to what we can think of 343 should add all of this stuff to make halo 4 the game of the century it would be so awesome to pull this off 343 i hope they read this comment.

making a stick property where 2 forge items stay together and are moved together is probably very hard to do code wise. here are some simpler ideas.

1: the ability to mirror any given forge item, for example, the circular staircases in reach only go in one direction, clockwise or counter clockwise, this posed a limited use for them, a simple mirroring ability would be able to make the spiral go both ways.

2: cylinders, not a whole lot of explanation here, couldnt make my columns for a greek temple or whatever in reach, tall, short, flat etc.

3: Trees and plants, put some green under "natural", not just rocks (keep the rocks too). some variety, like one tall tree, a stump, tree w. and w.o leaves, etc.
