Grand Theft Auto V Surpasses Steam Records

Recommended Posts

The second coming of Christ video game, known as Grand Theft Auto V, has surpassed a few big steam giants and become a top dog.

At this point, you either own Grand Theft Auto V, or you've heard of it, the game is so widespread there isn't a soul on this earth who hasn't. In large part because of this, GTA V's recent PC launch has broken a previous record on Steam, as reported by Polygon.com. You see, taking a few steps back, on November 11th, 2011, a little title by the name of The Elder Scrolls: Skyrim released on the Xbox 360, PS3, and PC, and topped Steam's record of non-Valve games at 280,000 players in one day. Well, a new alpha of the pack has risen, as GTA V topped off at 301,246 when it peaked in players today. The game launched to (still) successful reviews and has been in the running since back in Summer of 2014 for PC. GTA V is one of the only games to have such a life cycle where 2 years can pass and sales stay just as strong. Don't underestimate it though, DOTA 2 is still Steam's overall top dog with a player count bypassing a million, and Counter-Strike is nipping at it's heels. GTA V has a long way to go before becoming the king of Steam.

I've heard nothing but good things about GTA V on the PC, with the new support systems for Mods, 4K, 60fps, and more, it's been nothing but fun, but let us know down below if you own it how this port has been handled. Thanks for reading, see you all next time.

Is it even a surprise that GTA V, the biggest game of all time, would surpass the records yet again?! I mean, look at the extra things that they get! 4K resolution, 60fps, tessellation, 3 monitor support, Anti-aliasing, texture/shader/shadow/reflection/water/particle/grass quality, soft shadow options, post FX options, motion blur strength, in-game DoF (depth of Field), Anisotropic filtering and a whole load of other options to make ANY hardcore PC gamer drool and all die hard console gamers shout out in protest.

Nice article Kenway! Even though you up Elder Scrolls: Online instead of Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim but you edited that :P

Also there's no mod support as of right now. Since all the modders can't get access to the GTA V game files and no one knows how to, as of right now, it's impossible! (at least for now)

Meanwhile, TF2 just looks on as the old man of the bunch in 4th place.

Interesting News there.

I am not surprised, so many people mod GTA and play PC. There were bound to be thousands throwing money at their PC to buy this.

Correction!

You can Mod without the devs handing you the tools, it is just harder/more work.

But it is nowhere near impossible. :) ( There are Mods for Gta v on the consoles )

Console works very differently to PC, Caboose. I know that there are mods for GTA V on console

Also, according to most of the modding forums out there, they have stated themselves that they cannot gain access to the game files which means that they can't alter stuff. You know some professional modders out there, the same forums that modded in the Batmobile that was able to fire explosive baterangs. Yeah... They can't get into the game files that are critical for making the mods so as of right now, the PC version of GTA V is impossible to mod FOR NOW...

Nothing is impossible and I am sure gaining access to the games files will not be. :)

Its just going to take a lot of time ( or Rockstar gives the community, the dev tools )
