  1. I enjoy the maps we have now, but I really liked forge world better. It's not that I want the map to be huge and sprawling so I can use every inch of it, but that we liked having the choice of location in our maps. That was the beauty of forge world, no two maps were the same because it has this huge spread out space, full of variety. You could pick a spot that looked good and just start building there. IMO the new maps don't present that. You have this medium space to forge in, with only two or three different areas to choose from for your map. What? Didn't forge world have like thirty unique areas to build in? Let's count them. Ravine: -Grassy plateau area -The forunner structure -The cliff side Erosion: -Cave -Grifball arena -More cave Impact: -Asteroid 1 -Asteroid 2 -Open space Forge World: -Blood Gulch -The beach at the end of Blood Gulch -The clearing at the other end -The cave -The Alaska plateau -The Montana plateau -The canyon between Alaska and Montana -The shoreline beach area -Paradiso island -Anywhere with water -Under the water -Up in the air (open space) -There are about 12 different cliff faces to build on and near -The alcove area to the left of the island under the cliffs -The Coliseum -Above the Coliseum -The Ascension sea spire See what I'm saying? While FW doesn't have drastically different setting throughout, it includes LOTS of options for map variety, something 4s maps lack. I can see custom games getting real boring once we all find out that our maps all look the same.
  2. I swear, if cortana is actually dead, I think I'm done with the Halo series. 343i, you better not screw up with one game a story I've played since I was ten. I'm counting on you guys to live up to bungie.
  3. Well, in order to be a minigame, it would have to introduce a different gameplay dynamic than just a regular slayer map. The point of almost all the minigame maps is to do something besides just kill each other to win. Besides the unorthodox map layout, there is nothing in the map that suggests a minigame type, as it plays like a regular slayer map.
  4. I don't know about you guys, but I'm pretty psyched for Impact more than any of the other forge maps we know will be in the game thus far. I feel like it's the map that a lot of us have been waiting for, what with being a fully and truely outdoor space map. Sandbox's space area was cool, but for me it never really seemed very realistic, just sort of like a side note that bungie threw in last minute for kicks. So I wanted to know, what are your opinions of Impact? What maps are you looking forward to most on it? Myself, the number one thing I want is a really great redo of Boarding Action! I've wanted an exact remake of it pretty much since Halo 2, and while some of the remakes on Reach looked pretty accurate, The lighting and scenery just kind of killed it for me. But this map.. so far from the showcase video, Impact has almost exactly the right lighting and ambience for the job. Imagine how cool it would be if 343 were to include a preforged remake of Boarding Action as one of the preset maps! My only worry is whether or not the map has enough room for the double ships to fit. Other than that, I'm really excited to see the new levels of creativity and design that Impact is going to bring to race maps. Along with the trait zones for gravity... let's just say my first map will be a racetrack that goes all around and upside down around the little asteroid, like it has a normal gravitational pull. How about you guys?
  5. I came in two days too late to preorder from my local gaming store, I checked GameStop and everything online but all of them had stopped their LE orders
  6. So, I've really enjoyed the forum thus far. It makes the process of finding good maps to download much faster and smoother, and we get to see maps made by less known users with different styles. But I haven't really seen much of the user submitted content featured in the THFE channel yet. A lot of these maps are fantastic, and I'm a bit dissapointed that they aren't getting attention outside of the forum- where most of the THFE viewer base exists. Long story short, it would be great if you guys could start putting some more spotlight on the user submissions on your channel. Quite a few people think that the forum thing is a terrible idea, even though we know it's not. You guys have been great at giving us feedback, but it's been mostly a means of us talking to eachother. Maybe you guys could do only competitive map features in the week or do leading up to four's launch. You could even open a second channel devoted entirely to user submissions. Show the youtube-only veiwers how cool this site is. Imagine how many more people this would bring to the forum! Thanks, Arcticghost49
  7. It's looking great! I like the new shape of the room, maybe try tilting the walls in a bit to direct the plasmas towards the floor more often. Keep up the good work
  8. There are a lot of things I really want to see in four's forge mode.. -Triggered mechanic items. Like doors, drop pods or light bridges -A properties setting that keeps displaced objects from despawning (crates wouldn't despawn, and building blocks wouldn't freeze once at rest, or despawn, or both). -The ability to give certain objects motorized properties- Imagine how creative forgers could be, making a piece rotate like Ascension's antenna, or maybe a conveyor belt. If you were really smart about it, you could build a pelican, spawn points and weapons inside, and have it travel around a set path in the air. Or build an out of control train like terminal. -I really enjoyed that one about grav-lift trajectory. Maybe add a grav cushion to the other end to make high altitude grav jumps non-lethal? -More aesthetic object choice, like bodies and bloodstains and destroyed vehicles. Lots of trees. -Preset background objects, so we don't have to build giant buildings to backdrop our city maps. Maybe something like those half finished backdrop buildings in Outskirts on Halo 2 that you could explore for hours around. -Different texture settings for wall/floor/surface objects so our maps don't look so identical. -Landscapes as items. Add a grid sized block of tundra or desert or grassland. -I can see this being a bit of a stretch, but a more realistic physics engine for water, so you could pool or redirect it. Wouldn't that have been so cool on forge worlds waterfall? -Add water to areas maybe? -I highly agree with the 'select all' idea to fuse pieces together. -Scalable/editable objects. Size a coliseum wall down to half, or cut off a chunk or even put a hole in it. -Introduce large vehicle gameplay- Scarab/Pelican, bring back the elephant. Not the spirit or the scarab though, they're too big. -Signs that scroll text! Windows marquee screensaver meets Halo. It was sort of in ODST's campaign I think. -One huge one for me, have a setting to forge maps with no budget/ object limit, but these unlimited maps will not be chosen for matchmaking, you can only play them online in a customs lobby. -Buyable (but free works too) dlc forge item packs- you can play on maps containing these items if you don't have the dlc pack but you won't be allowed to edit the map unless you buy the dlc. -More breakable objects (damn we've been missing those pallets) -Undo button. (*delete on accident* "CRAP") -Lock objects so you can't accidentally move them. Halo 3 floating objects, I'm looking at you. -Despawn control/ more efficient respawn control for items That's all I can think of for now, but I definitely have more to think of and add later.
  9. It's fun, hectic and plays well, except that I had to change the player health to 500% and damage to 100%. It was annoying to just jump down and get instantly killed by a stray plasma ball, maybe even one you shot. Also, I know there is a limited number of shields but the room is very small. I'd recommend using the rest of the sheilds to make the room a bit bigger, and maybe some odd angled walls and ceilings to make the ball path a little more chaotic/ interesting.
