  1. 236.98 pounds sterling on 14/05/2014. I'm sure, like everything tech-ish in Britain, it'll probably cost £300-399 and will not be the same cheap price as in the US (everything even related to a computer costs sometimes up to four times as much in Britain than the States). So, no, this little currency exchange rip off isn't going to work unless it is actually £237 for UK. Even then Kinect is probably going to be very useful in games itself, the only time I'll consider getting an Xbox One is if Halo 5 is promising, then both at the same time with Kinect in a total of £300 maximum because I don't see a promising line-up.
  2. Just a quick poll thread to find out stuff.
  3. The utter essential basics! Clan Name Avoid silly or just generally stupid names. 'TH3 KILL3R5' sounds like a master-plan from an eight-year old. Sounds like the person who rage-quits and reports you, to be fair. Try and have a short (and appropriate) abbreviation, too. Do not make players change their gamertags, steam names and skype names are fine, but if you must pay to change your name, don't force people to do this. Joining Requirements As said previously, please try and avoid forcing name changes. Who wants to pay to join a clan? If you're starting a clan, you definitely should be 16 or over, and thus should set an age requirement to be 16, or 15 at the minimum. Have 'decency' and 'maturity' as a requirement, you don't have to define it, and thus can use it to get rid of those plebeians who decide to throw around racist comments, or decide to start raging-up all the time. Your 'main game' you play, be it Halo, Call of Duty or Team Fortress 2, should be required. A means of communication, such as an Xbox360/PS3/XboxOne/PS4 headset, or any PC headset, is a definate. TeamSpeak 3 or Skype are needed for PC gaming, TS3 is much more useful than Skype; it offers any clan a damn brilliant means of communication. Remember kids, no communication = no clan! Ranking Structure Oh gods, no! Not for consoles at least; having ranks on consoles is just too messy, too sloppy. Consider a tree of up to 5 maximum tiers for console-based clans. A general layout would be: Clan Owner Commanders/Captains Officers Veteran Players New Members Avoid any sort of 'Trainee' ranks, those are all derogatory. Your second rank is purely for the purposes of administration, and is probably not needed on consoles. Event-organisers would be in the second row. In the third row, people who are in charge in-game reside. The fourth row would be the players that have joined. An officer-to-player ratio would be 1:7. You don't want to 'promote yo' friends', you just want responsible people. If people don't care about their position once they're in the fourth row of this example, then it means you've done it right. Avoid any awful stupid "Sir"-calling. You're supposed to have fun, not engage in some ERP with people that are just a little higher than you in some clan. What Games? Well I'll put this simply. Here is a list of games and/or franchises for Xbox360 and PC (Steam) that are suitable for clans. PC Team Fortress 2 Mount & Blade: Warband + Napoleonic Wars Module + Persistent Worlds Module (free) PAYDAY 2 Call of Duty Franchise Rust ArmA II and/or ArmA III Xbox360 Halo 3 / Halo: Reach / Halo 4 Call of Duty Franchise Gears of War Franchise Battlefield 3 / Battlefield 4 Biggest problem that you will encounter with Xbox360 clans is that you can not have over 8 players in your team at any given time, or it will be unbalanced. PAYDAY 2 is an odd choice, being it 4 player cooperative, but it is still a mighty fine secondary game for team building. PC clans have a much better chance of survival, as there is more games to play that really do support some teamplay. Organisation 'Meetings' can be held, but they must be meetings, not free-for-alls whilst discussing what you did at school today. Grurr, none of that. Discuss on what you'd like to play, when you're able to play, and most importantly achieve a consensus on what you'll all like to do. As an example, a Thursday 8PM GMT meeting can decide that over the weekend, 18 people are free, a productive thing to do would be host a custom games night on Halo 3 over the weekend. For PC, that might be taking your Warband crew into the Native or Napoleonic Wars module for some fun team-building exercises. Trainings should never be focusing just on skills. Personally I'd say building friendships and teamworks is much better than learning to block sword swings or how to get them headshots. done. Please post feedback on this, any tips for people creating (or currently running their clan). much metric units of loves - elite
  4. Ask RSR nicely and it'll be fine. Hopefully. If you do not survive, I will tell your family you loved them.
  5. Yus. Also don't forget that those who own speaker appreciate deep bass sounds. Cough.
  6. Betas are important, like alphas. This title does not need an alpha nor beta, but will be pretty downright crappy without a beta. Why? Betas give the developer's audience a chance to actually know what the game is like before buying it, this way they can point out what needs to be fixed, what needs more work and what is missing, so we don't have another incomplete game from launch, hint hint, Halo 4 forge, Halo 4 custom games.
  7. This is a troll post, or a stupid (thus troll) post. Usually when making a game, you aren't told by your boss to turn around and undo everything till you have half of a completely broken game. Just because you don't like it, it doesn't mean everyone else hates it too. Sprint was a valid gameplay mechanic, if you don't like it, you should be constructive and explain why, and your reasons for how it "breaks everything completely", instead of saying "REMOVE IT GET IT OUR OF MY FACE >>:C:C"
  8. Bring back race, have community-friendly game-types, more dynamic invasion and for crying out loud, bring all the gametypes from Halo 3, Halo: Reach and keep those in Halo 4, remake them and make it more customisable as before so players can stay creative.
  9. Well, considering Call of Duty is losing the 'realism first person shooter' aspect, Activision + Sledgehammer are taking a smart move with the franchise. If you want dynamically-paced (which Call of Duty does VERY well) first-person shooters, there's Battlefield, if you want to go tactical, there's ArmA.
  10. DOSBox is the PC operating system emulator, it allows us to play old games. Unfortunately Microsoft is only going as far as Xbox360, and not the original Xbox. This is understandable as emulating the original Xbox would just be a nightmare, but it would still be nice.
  11. It isn't strange to describe it as a lack of content. Counter Strike wasn't priced as high as Titanfall, it was old and was generally a re-work on the Source engine used in Half Life 2, it is almost like a DLC for Half Life 2. If you pay £50 for Titanfall to realise that there is no campaign, you'd be very disappointed. The amount of content and quality of content resulting in Titanfall's value does not equate to its pricetag. If you pay £15 for Rust to realise that there is no campaign, you wouldn't mind.
  12. I have http://uk.creative.com/p/speakers/inspire-t6300 and another Creative headset for PC only, all of the Uni Serial Bus ports on my 360 kind of fell apart alongside with half of the console (console still works though!), so I can't use headset for consoles. The Speakers are on the extreme-high end, the price doesn't suggest it but it is bloody perfect. PC monitor since I don't watch TV much, sadly I couldn't find any with channels for 5.1 or 7.1, which sucked so I had to spend ages trying to find 3.5mm splitters. It isn't necessarily 'high end', but I have no game that is limited by it (wouldn't mind a bigger PC-monitor, though, or resolution past 1920xWhatever). danke babes I mean re-written literally. Changing the store or plot of a game makes it a different game. To make Last Light or Mass 1/2/3 for Xbox One or PS4, you need to rewrite some scripts and make a lot of graphical edits for newer shaders. It isn't as simple as played a DirectX7 game with DirectX9, it is like DX7 for a machine supporting DX11, it just wouldn't work unless changes were made.
  13. Don't move this thread unless there is a 'next generation consoles' forum. WiiU will not be talked about here, as it isn't truly what is referred to as 'next generation'. I'll just start by saying that the generic comment of both parties, Microsoft and Sony have wasted more potential than I can readily believe. First, marketing model. Already it is littered with microtransactions and overpriced games, especially when you consider value scaled to content, it is a bit off in that department. Titanfall runs in 792p. What. The 'next generation' was set at a level to have games be liked films today, films on Sony's Blu-Ray disks usually run at 1080i, which is a massive step up from 1080p, yet alone 792p, only a bit above the lowest quality in the spectrum of 'high definition' (720p). We can see here that developers are limiting the potential more than the actual consoles. Who in the world would develop Titanfall and believe it is something to be proud of? Unfinished game, no single player campaign, which is bearable, 6v6 multiplayer only, you aren't even allowed private lobbies. The only thing that Titanfall does well is balanced gameplay. This lack of content paired with price is an insane step back for the progression of gaming, it is a sprint away from what is regarded as 'Perfect Capitalism', where the consumer would know exactly how much the game is worth before buying (they don't. They purchase Titanfall only to soon realise it is a 6v6 online game without much more to it). Now the b1tchfest about Titanfall is over, we can discuss wasted potential. Meet Steam. The much-adored free service that, yes, is for PC only of course, but has three qualities that make it work so well. It offers a much bigger service than Xbox Live and PlayStation Network Plus, yet it is absolutely free! Complete support for indie and any low-budget developer, even massive support for those with an average-sized budget or a huge budget. Steam Greenlight is a magnet for people to develop Steam games. Respectable pricing. I saw Call of Duty: Ghosts for £26.99 on the Steam store a month back, it was on offer. Compare that to the pricing set by Xbox One or PlayStation 4. £40-50/$60-70. Older games, such as Black Ops One, are not still £40, which is, or has been until recently, still the case on Xbox Live store. How is this relevant? Indie titles such as Rust and Starbound have clammered high, making a huge capital despite having such a small team as well as such a small initial budget for staff, technology and marketing. Their prices range at around £10-20, or approximately $15-25. If both Microsoft and Sony supported indie developers, the market for games such as Rust or Starbound would extend quite well for all parties. Pricing Rust for £15-20 for consoles would be sensible, as the developers of both games would receive the funding necessary to rewrite the game for consoles. Indie titles are good. Cheap indie games that have quality and online support would work well for consoles. Why? Because indie titles reach corners that now big developer has bothered to venture, look at Papers, Please. Another indie game, a dystopian-themed game that would turn off every investor until you actually play it. It is a game regarded as "strangely addictive", it was a risk. A similar risk that neither Microsoft or Sony are willing to take. Some question to answer: Do you prefer the Steam marketing model to that of Microsoft's Xbox Live and Sony's Playstation Network Plus? Would you be interested in small indie games, such as Rust, Starbound, Papers[,] Please, and any other ones not listed? Would you embrace the idea of rewriting, re-texturing, re-modelling and adding a bit more to existing PC, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 games (examples would be Metro: Last Light, Mass Effect Trilogy). Do you regret investing in Next Generation consoles, or are you glad that you didn't invest in them (or did invest in them)? Do you have high-end hardware yourself, such as high-end PC-Monitor / TV / speakers? Do you think they make your gaming experience better on the new consoles and the old ones (as well as PC)?
  14. But... What's the point in support for Dolby Digital if there's like, one or two audio outputs? So you're saying there's going to be another Xbox One that supports 4, 4.1, 5, 5.1, 6, 6.1, 7 and 7.1 audio, or that there's going to be some new ports magically growing in the back? I don't know if there's any consideration of the lack of high-end hardware compliance in a new model of the Xbox One, but it'd be nice if it directly had the 3 3.5mm audio jacks with support for 5.1, and better yet 4 3.5mm for those who would like true 7.1 Splitters seem to work with the Xbox 360 in delivering surround sound; I've heard many people saying that it doesn't seem to deliver in all channels correctly with Xbox One. Derp?
  15. I bet that thing will break against a properly tempered blade. >.< Looks pretty decent though, just that that bloody thing isn't safe at all, the hilt is surrounded by sharp metal that you can cut yourself with, thus making it a bit silly to be anything but a wall prop. And plus, you've got your facts wrong or that's just a bad smith. You harden blades, then temper them (otherwise they're a bit useless). Heat to 2100 fahrenheit, roughly. Then it is quenched when glowing red. You'll have a blade that can slash straight through an arm, but it'll be brittle (it'd break, like you're using it against Titans when you're really using it on a plank of wood). Temper it then by heating to 600 Fahrenheit (roughly), you then let it cool. You'll lose some integrity of the blade, but it won't break even a tenth as easy as it was when just hardened. Tempered blades are the best, just a little less integrity that you'll need for the hardest of objects you want to mess up, but your blade will survive for years instead of days.
  16. I AM THE RUMMAGER OF PANTIES!

  17. None. So far, 343i haven't actually started to listen to their player's demands. The only thing that 343i did do, is Forge Island (which was pitiful anyway). We didn't get assault, infection, VIP, race or even fine editing or magnet fixes. Just Forge Island. If you want this, you'll need to get at least 100,000 people to sign that they love the ideas you want in Waypoint, anything less and they have an excuse to not even consider it.
  18. Hello, Scruberals! Your new name. becus i cn
  19. I thought you being the only admin meant that this is just a forum-dictatership?
  20. This won't happen till Microsoft is waaaaaay past the break-even point. More things need to be developed for the Xbox One, titles such as Mass Effect, Mechwarrior, Elder Scrolls, Mount & Blade are all potential candidates. With game lobbies, the size should increase from the traditional 16. 64 at a minimum total, and 128 at a maximum (but not limited for game developers that want to go higher) as console gamers, half the time, have terrible ISPs, such as Sky.
  21. Enjoy your light grey. I guess you see a lot of light... white? Ok, you still see lots of snow. But now you have light gray.
  22. Please actually be able to write. Please actually be able to write. Please actually be able to write. Seriously. I think the only thing that Halo writing beats is Game of Thrones. Mass Effect beats both by far, Doctor Who and Sherlock a bit less but still by bloody far.
