Legendary Weapon Ideas Thread

TDM

Recommended Posts

I've made this thread for anybody who wishes to make up a Legendary Weapon that they deem to be pretty friggin' cool. This way, we keep the forums clean.

Here, I'll start.

Weapon Name - Halo: CE Magnum

What Makes it a Legendary - 3 Head shots to kill

Specialties in Animation - Classic Pistol whip melee attack

How to balance this weapon out - Raise the recoil in order to delay aiming time / Slower reload speed

Appearance - Like the Halo: CE Magnum, just more modern

Have fun.

P.S - Hope this helps you think:

The Sentinel Beam!

Just make it the way it is in H2A.

There's also the option to make the red one a common weapon and the blue one a legendary (since it has a little more damage to it).

This is a fusion of someone else's post, and my post on Reddit:

Confirmed Legendary Weapons:

1: Prophet's Bane: We've all seen this one. It's a sword on steroids.

  • Increased movement speed, extended lunge range when using smart scope.

  • Large glow obscures players vision, giving tunnel vision effect. The glow also makes you very visible to other players.

2: The SPNKr: Classic Rocket Launcher from the previous games.

  • Larger blast radius, and faster rocket speed than the standard launcher. In addition, this rocket tracks vehicles extremely well. Locking should work similar to the hydra where targets are auto-acquired rather than the player having to hold the trigger. The rocket should kill vehicles significantly easier than it's normal counterpart.

  • This one should probably only be placed on vehicle heavy maps and thus may not need as much of a nerf. Non-tracking accuracy could be decreased (rocket doesn't always fly completely straight). Reload speed should be slow.

My suggestions + someone else's:

1: Eye of the Scarab: Handheld Scarab cannon from Halo 2.

  • A stream from the Eye decays player shields at a fast rate. If they stick too long in the stream... they die. Powerful.

  • Nerf on the damage, and radius from Halo 2's incarnation, and vastly lower amount of ammo than before. Maybe 3-4 shots max. The ray is also smaller, and is more akin to a Hunter's cannon from Halo 3 with the large snaking plasma instead of the original Scarab Gun's humongous discharge.

2: Hardlight Cleaver, Scythe, & Scimitar (different variations from each of the Knight ranks)The arm-blades used by Promethean Knights.

  • Large amount of ammo. Instead of lunging the player pushes the blade forward: sending a small wave of energy out that can bounce on surfaces similar to the Scattershot. Meleeing with the Might just swings it like Prometheans do.

  • Clunky, and slow.

3: Noisy Cricket: The CE pocket rocket we all know and love.

  • Powerful, and contains allot of ammo.

  • Reloading, meleeing, and discharge with the weapon are slow.

4: Fist of Rukt: This is the gravity hammer used by Tartarus in H2.

  • Has a larger shock-wave radius than the standard grav hammer. When using ground pound with this weapon equipped, the player will slam the hammer down for a much larger kill zone than the standard ground pound.

  • Player moves at slightly reduced speed (similar to difference between walking forward vs walking backward), sprint would probably also be reduced by the same amount. This forces the player to use their thrusters to close gaps before the enemy can escape.

First of all, wasn't the idea of the Legendary Weapons suggested for years? Here is mines

  • Fist of Rukt
    • Much more powerful
    • The victims of this weapon's hit have +100% gravity when hit, they also add the effects of the sputnik skull to dramatize the effects
    • Add a x5 over shield to you, the extra over shield adds a white health bar
    • The weapons has to recharge each time you hit, so you have to be tactical
  • Scarab Gun: Pretty much the one from Halo 2
  • Keyes Magnum
    • 2x and 5x scope
    • Has the power of a shotgun from all ranges
    • Looks and sounds like the classic magnum

Now for the locations

  • Fist of Rukt: On a map that looks a lot like the radius from The Great Journey
  • Scarab Gun: On the main city center area on Metropolis
  • Keyes Magnum: On a map inside a Halycon Class Ship

Loving this!

As Legendary Weapons are supposed to be actual, specific weapons, rather than just powerful but mass-produced models, I think we need to look at potential ones as more than just things like the SPNKr line of rocket launchers or the M6D series of pistols, and focus on individual guns which hold a specific place in the canon. As a few ideas so far, beyond those suggested above:

Captain Keyes' M6D

This is the first weapon that the player ever gets to use in the series (and therefore, quite possibly the first weapon a lot of players ever used in a shooter!) and therefore it would do very nicely for a 'Legendary' version of the classic pistol.

Weapon Name - Keyes' Pistol

What Makes it a Legendary - 3 shot kill and ability for damage to bleed through shields, fast firing speed, and large magazine

Specialties in Animation - Complete classic set, including pistol whip and idles

How to balance this weapon out - Suffers from surprisingly poor accuracy

Appearance - Original M6D model with increased polygon and textures levels

Sergeant Johnson's M6 G/GNR

The Spartan Laser has unfortunately gone through a bit of a decay since it was introduced in Halo 3, first having its charge time increased in a title update, then having its battery reduced in Reach, and by the time of Halo 4 it wasn't even a particularly useful weapon for destroying vehicles, even when it was available at all. As the weapon that destroyed 343 Guilty Spark, Johnson's laser needs no such nerfs!

Weapon Name - Orion Laser

What Makes it a Legendary - Faster charge time, larger battery, increased damage, and ability to penetrate vehicles

Specialties in Animation - Complete classic set, plus any Spartan holding the laser acquires a cigar complete with puffs of smoke on kills

How to balance this weapon out - Don't, the standard laser actually needs a buff as it is

Appearance - Halo 3 model with improved polygon count and textures, plus an elite skull and kill count scratches on the side

Infection Shotgun

Only essentially a semi-canon weapon, the survivor's Shotgun has been a staple of the Infection gametype ever since Halo 2, and was eventually given its own variant in Halo 2: Anniversary. There have been plenty of famous shotgun rampages throughout Halo, particularly on Flood levels, and so simply branding it as a shotgun that saved its owner's life many times against the swarm would do nicely as backstory.

Weapon Name - Survivor's Shotgun

What Makes it a Legendary - Longer range and increased damage combined with faster reload speed

Specialties in Animation - Faster reload animations and unique assassinations

How to balance this weapon out - Larger pellet spread and no ability to replenish ammunition

Appearance - CE:A/Reach model with weathering and flecks of blood and biomass over it, particularly so nearer to the front

Noble Six's Assault Rifle

Noble Six wielded an Assault Rifle to great effect during the last battle on planet Reach, its fire still capable of downing multiple Elites despite taking enough plasma damage that even Six's Mjolnir armour had begun to fail. Though lacklustre in gameplay, during the cutscene of Six's final stand this particular rifle proved the equal of those encountered in Combat Evolved, and along with Six's helmet, may have survived Reach's glassing.

Weapon Name - The Last Stand

What Makes it a Legendary - 60 round magazine, increased accuracy and fire rate

Specialties in Animation - Similar animations, but firing and reload sounds are scratchier and clankier to represent damage

How to balance this weapon out - No ability to use smart scope, plus the ammunition counter/compass is cracked and inert

Appearance - Same model as Reach, but weathered and rusted to reflect damage taken in Six's final stand and the subsequent years of exposure to the elements without care

Wow no one suggested this yet?

Halo 2/3 era Battle Rifle

-Faster Fire Rate

-more damage

-increased recoil to balance it out

-Appearance: same as the H2A MP BR-55

and how about not just legendary weapons but how about armour?

Fred-104's classic Spartan-II Armour (Halo Legends)

Rookie's ODST Armour.

-has a back pack and various ammo clips etc on the armour.
